The Queued4Christ Show with Dr. Nancy J. Lewis- "Jesus, Parables, And A Little HR Spice"
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
What if the door you’ve been waiting for is only meant to open once you move? We sit down with Dr. Nancy J. Lewis—speaker, coach, and president of Progressive Techniques Inc.—to unpack a 29-year journey from corporate HR to Christ-centered entrepreneurship. From the first leap into a six-month contract to building a sustainable practice anchored in service, Nancy shares how preparation, prayer, and bold action work together to create momentum.
We explore the underrated power of mentors and what she calls a “faith tribe,” the inner circle that speaks belief when pressure mounts. Nancy breaks down practical strategies for leaders and business owners: lifelong learning through certifications and courses, staying in your sweet spot, hiring experts instead of trying to do it all, and pricing your value without apology. She also gets candid about discernment—why not every client is your client, how to recognize a Holy Spirit check, and the freedom that comes with saying no. Expect vivid stories, including how she weaves biblical parables into corporate trainings when “Jesus” isn’t welcome by name—and why truth still transforms rooms.
Grounded in scriptures like Habakkuk’s “write the vision,” this conversation connects faith to real leadership outcomes: better teams, clearer decisions, and peace during uncertainty. We spotlight biblical models like Joseph and Joshua to show how determination, character, and focus outlast detours. If you’re navigating career change, building a business, or looking to lead with courage, you’ll find tools you can use today—and reminders that provision often meets motion.

Hey, hey, hey, everyone.
Welcome And Vision Scripture
SPEAKER_02This is Keanu, your creator, and your host of Q for Christ. And I want to say thank you to everyone that has liked, you shared, you commented, whatever you've done. I'm so excited and I'm so happy about what you have done. And I tell you, and I'm and I tell you this that this is not um a punishment. It is a privilege to be able to be a vessel for Christ. And I take it very, very serious. Okay, so, anyways, I'm so excited about today. This is a new segment. So I'm so super excited to be on here, not just on here, because I am getting ready to share to start something very, very new that I have not done. I have not done success on purpose live, and I am getting ready to do it live today. And so I tell you today, my guest today, she has been cued for Christ. And when I talk about cue for Christ, I don't talk about just um the success on purpose, meaning that you got money, you got cards, you got fame. You got the success with the backing of Christ, and I'm so excited because we take Hebecca two and two serious. We have wrote the vision and we have made it plain and we are running with it, okay? And I often say you have to internalize it as well to keep running. So I'm super excited about my guest today. Um, you know, I I said I was gonna put you in backstage, but look, look at God. You're here, you're here already.
Guest Introduction: Dr. Nancy J. Lewis
SPEAKER_02So I'm excited to be to be here um with none other than Dr. Nancy J. Lewis. How are you doing today, Miss Lewis?
SPEAKER_01I'm doing wonderful. And when you said Habakkuk, I have it on my monotone. I mean, I have it literally next to me. This it's my stabilizer. It's there, backup tutu. Write the vision.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, make it plain. I'm telling you, that is one of the things that I have centered this around, is that because of the simple fact that when God called me, I had to do a lot of writing first off to get everything done. It can't, it started twice. It started in your head, and then once you get it into your hand, now you got to make sure that it's it's written properly for somebody to see it, not just written. You know, we got to be able to express it just as well. So I'm so excited that you are here, and um, I want just if you can go just a little bit and tell everybody who you are, because she is the president of, she's the president of her own company, but she also is the queen of network, meaning that that like she is she is in the face of network. So if you can just tell everybody who you are, and then we'll we'll pray and then we'll move forward.
SPEAKER_01Okay, thank you for having me on the show. I appreciate that. I don't take it for granted when people uh interview me. So I am Dr. Nancy J. Lewis, and I am the president of Progressive Techniques Incorporated, and uh it's a business, I tell people it's all about God in terms of what I do. I do a lot of inspirational and motivational speaking for clients, keynotes, but I do a lot of training in the area of emotional intelligence, leadership, customer service, a lot of things that people need to know how to do because we're seeing that there's a lack of some of that. So I work with organizations, corporations, public other uh government, I work with nonprofits, basically helping CEOs and their teams navigate the terrain of this post-COVID world. And then I do one-on-one executive and business coaching. So I get a chance to work with executives and their leadership teams, helping them navigate how they're gonna leverage their careers, their teams, etc. So I love what I do. I know it's what God called me to do. So and then I have a TV show as well, which you've been on. It's called with Dr. Nan CJ. It comes on weekly or interview ordinary people doing extraordinary things. So I give God all the praise for what he's doing in my life. So I'm an unapologetically Jesus girl.
SPEAKER_02Hey man, I you know what? I love that. Look, we need to get that on a shirt. I don't have a shirt. I have a bleak, I have a bleak t-shirt that says unapologetically Jesus girl. Yes. Oh, come on. We got to get that. Look, y'all, look, let me tell y'all, that right there, when you can say that you are unapologetically Jesus girl, that means it ain't nothing that nobody can do that can stop you, right? I love it. Oh my goodness, I love that. So I'm super excited that you're here. And like she mentioned, um, when we met, we clicked, like literally. Um, she was like, Oh, I gotta get you on the show. And I was like, okay, you know, and I've never been on a TV tele uh or TV show, and I was able to get on there to talk about cute for Christ. And I'm so excited that you had invited me on there. And um, and I like to tell people how we met. We met through um a colleague, Robert Robert H. Johnson Jr., we were getting ready to do his um the panoramic experience, and it was a wonderful thing, even though I didn't get to interview you there. Look what God has done. So I'm so excited that you um have decided to be here and like I said, to um have had me on your show. Like that was that was amazing.
Prayer And Spiritual Framing
SPEAKER_02So before we go any further, I am going to say a quick prayer because I want to wanna always usher in the Holy Spirit. And we're gonna we're gonna just let Dr. Nancy come in her own way. We want to learn how she has been cued for Christ. And so, anyways, I'm gonna say a quick prayer and then we'll go further, okay?
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_02All right, dear Heavenly Father, I come to you today. God, I thank you for carving out this time for us to be able to get together, God, and be able to share all our pathways and share the things that you have done for us. God, we just thank you now because we know that you are in the midst, God. We know that you have made this divine connection. We know that you have done everything that you can do, God, and we thank you now for everything that you're still going to do, God. God, we just thank you now for even touching Dr. Nancy J. Lewis, God, on today. God, we ask you now to go with her, God. Anything that she has going on, God, we ask you to make it special, God, and to send it to amongst people, God. And so we thank you now for what you're doing in her life. God, we just thank you now for even the ones that are watching, God, the ones that are on here, God. We want them to know you, God. And so we thank you now, God, that anything that we say that something that is going to pierce their heart. God, we thank you now. We love you, God, for everything you're doing. We ask you to hide us behind the cross and allow us to get your message to your people, God. And so we thank you for who you are. We thank you for the ways that you made the doors that you have opened, God. God, we know that you're gonna do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think. And so we thank you, God, for what you have done. We love you, we honor you, we cherish you. It's in Jesus' name that I pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. Yes, hallelujah. I'm telling you, I one thing I do is love to praise Jesus. So, so, anyways, anyways, I wanted to just say hey to a couple people on here. My mom is on here, so I'm excited that she is here. And um I um often, you know, one thing I can't, I used to say all the time, if I could be half of the person that my mom was, then I have done enough, right? You know, she she was such a great woman. She is such a great woman, I'm sorry. So um, so anyways, anyways, we are going to dive right into it because I want, I just want to know how you've been queued up.
Early Leadership And Corporate Restlessness
SPEAKER_02How did Dr. Nancy J. Lewis get to where Dan, why where she is, right? So, anyways, um, one of the things that I had, you know, wanted to know is that when you were quickened, how did that look when when God called you, or even did you know in your past that you were gonna be doing this when you when you started out as a little girl?
SPEAKER_01Well, uh I don't know that I thought I was gonna be an entrepreneur. I don't know, I really thought about that, but I've always been a leader. So I've always been out front, you know, always willing to take charge. And if people can't make decisions, I'll make a decision. So that's kind of kind of my bonus growing up. A lot of bonus that got me in trouble many times because my bonus sometimes was uh adults didn't appreciate it. So sometimes I got in trouble with my parents because I would say stuff or ask tough questions because I wanted to just understand. So just my growing up in the Midwest, where I grew up as a direct child asking tough questions of people, just trying to say, okay, well, if you can do that, but you say it's not good for me, I'm just trying to understand why do we have different rules for adults and children? And in that day, you don't ask questions like that. You know, you just didn't do that. So I had to learn how to temper that because I got tired of getting in trouble. So but then as I went to school and went to college and got my degree in healthcare because I wanted to be a professional model, but my mom said you need a career, so I didn't go that route. And so I went and got a healthcare degree. And when I was doing that, I started out, and I realized it was I really didn't like it because it was too structured, it was very rigid, and I realized I needed flexibility, autonomy, etc. So I had a lot of jobs. I was um, my mom used to be concerned because she said, I'm gonna change jobs sometimes. She said, Like, you know, you just you're not stable. I just said, if I'm not having a job, I need to move on to someplace else where I can be myself. So finally, after many moves of jobs and changing a lot of jobs, I realized my last job I had in corporate was in HR, human resources. And I realized when I was there that I wasn't there
The Leap To Entrepreneurship
SPEAKER_01even to stay. I knew I was there for a season, but I didn't know what was going to happen after that season. But I realized my boss, I had a um, my boss was very insightful and had a lot of wisdom. He told me to take classes, to invest in myself. He encouraged me to go back and get my master's and some other things, and I listened to him. But then I realized I wanted more, and I realized I was, there was, there was, I was limited working for someone. And so I began to um at this point in time, I used to teach Joe Carnegie courses in the evening part-time and public speaking, and then I did a lot of other stuff, and I realized I really wanted to do that full-time, but I just didn't know how it was gonna happen. And so I just began to go. There was this particular job line that had a lot of contract opportunities on it. And so one day I went on the job line and it had a contract position for six months, but you know, it was a facilitator traveling the southeast part of the United States. And so I applied for it. And so I got an interview, and so the man says, But if we hire you, how are you gonna do your full-time job? Because this is, we need you to do this is you're traveling weekly. How are you gonna do that? I said, Well, if you I know that at some point I need to be an entrepreneur. I said, So if you hire me, it's my answer. I said, if you don't, I just keep looking. And so they hired me as one of the consultants, and the rest, shall we say, is history. So I got the opportunity, I came back and told my boss, and I said, I'm giving you all two weeks' notice. And she said, I know that if you you might not want to do that, she says, so we're just gonna put your notice in the file cabinet because I don't think you really mean that. And I said, I said, Well, I tell you what, in two weeks, I'm gonna be gone. So I'm giving you my my resignation. So if you put it in the file cabinet, that's on you. And so that began that because I realized at that point it was something I had been doing it part-time weekends. I was taking my vacation days for training and doing different things. So I've been doing it already in a moonlighting way, but now it was really full-time. And because God opened that door, because I said, however, it happens, I said, You if you hire me, fine. If you don't, I'm still okay. But if you hire me, I know it's my season to step. And so the quickly came when they hired.
SPEAKER_02Wow. And and the thing about it, people don't understand that, you know, we when God already done open up a door, they they they like, like she said, oh, I don't think you mean that. Let me tell you, when God does something, it ain't what you what you think. I'm sorry. I think people don't understand that. And that and that is one of the things, you know, when when God give us that calling, you know, it don't look the same what it would look for somebody else. You know what I'm saying? Because you say, oh, well, if it's for me, I'm gonna go, you know, and that is what God wants. When He calls us, He wants us where we'll be like, okay, God, you call me, I'm coming. You know what I'm saying? And even though at that point that was just a job, it was still stepping out because God saw that you would step out.
SPEAKER_01You know, it was like it was like you were leaving the corporate job for a at a six-month contract with being paid really well. Um but by halfway through the contract, I realized that if I didn't find additional business, I was supposed to have to go back to a job. And I I had the entrepreneurial bug now. I'm like, I don't want to go back. So that's began the networking.
Networking As A Lifeline
SPEAKER_01That began me on that quest to learn how to network and build relationships. And the rest, Shall we say, history, it's been 29 years this week.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_02And I was just gonna ask you, how long has that been?
SPEAKER_01This period is the 15th is 29 years. It's an a full-time entrepreneur.
SPEAKER_02That is, you know, and naughty the glory. That's all I can say. That's right. A lot of people don't understand being a full-time entrepreneur. Let me tell you, I I have done it now. I I girl, granted, I do have a little tick tax season job now, but being I I have been there where I'm I'm only doing this because I I got solicited, right? I thank God for it, but I got solicited by my son. So I'm excited about that. But you know, the thing about it, we have to know that when God calls us to greater, and that was one thing that you what you had mentioned as a child, you always knew that it was more, right? And that and that is the one thing that we have to know that you know, even though we young or you are in that young moment, you knew that that it was more to life than just this. You telling me not to do it, but you're doing it. I don't understand, you know what I'm saying? Like, and I and I used to be like that. That's that is it, and that is something right there. And I'm telling you, and I'm gonna stop right now, right quick. If you got a child out there that are always asking questions, you need to cultivate that because they are really inquisitive about things, and that means that they got a purpose, right? So I'm I'm excited. So, so, anyways, after you, you know, got that quick nanny, was it anybody that was like specific that you had to kind of unite with that you wanted to say, you know what? I see where you're going. I need this type of men mentorship that you can give me and you can help me
Mentors, Support, And Faith Tribe
SPEAKER_02with. Were there anybody that was just like specific that helped you along that way?
SPEAKER_01Well, I had a um, I what I found is that many times when I started out, I was I was seeking to talk to people who were doing what I what I've been doing full time, but people weren't really trying to help me. I I I didn't get a lot of people's support in terms of when I would ask people about what is this like, you know, what are some of the fees you need to charge. When I was trying to get people to really assist me in terms of things that I didn't know yet, I found that there was not a lot of support there. But I had a man who was a mentor for for me for over 20 years. He he basically was, I could go to him with any question because he was an entrepreneur as well. And so he was there to guide and direct me. And so when I would get weak or tired or frustrated, whatever, he would remind me and say, you know, I told you this is gonna be the hardest job you will have as an entrepreneur running your business. And so he was there for me for over 20 years. So I did have someone who was pushing me, who was like my person I could talk to when I felt like, okay, this is this is tough, this is hard. And he would just say, Yeah, it is. He said, But you you can do this. So it was it was great. But I had a supportive family as well. Um, initially they were scared because they were like, You're leaving your good corporate job and I was going for the airline so I could fly and all that. They're like, You're leaving all of that to go out on your own, I guess, because it's greater. Right. At the time, my mom said, I'm just so concerned, what are you gonna do? What happens? I said, not to worry. I said, You'll see more of me now than you did when I was working. And she actually did. And so she really appreciated after watching that this is pretty cool because you could take me places and do stuff. So everything, but I had a lot of support. And I had a couple friends that left corporate about the same time I did. One specific person left. We left about the same time, and we were each other's kind of like we bounced ideas off each other. So to today, still we are still in that same place where we will bounce ideas off each other.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and that's good though, because you need you need those type of people, those light-minded people, you know, um, to help you when you get to that point where you're like, okay, I don't know if I can do this. You know what I'm saying? Like, I and I'm gonna be honest, um, Robert was, you know, he's one of those where I can call and be like, okay, Robert, and he's gonna, he'll snap you really bad quick, you know. And um, and so I think that, you know, it's it's good that God placed those people that um that in your life that'll help you grow and help you expand and say, okay, you know what? I need this community. I need you in this community because sometimes people will look at what you're doing just like you said, you know, your family was like, You gonna leave this audience? And and people will look at you and say, wait a minute, you know, and it's not that they don't want the best for you, it's that they really they love you and they they don't want to see you fail. Hopefully.
SPEAKER_01You know what I'm saying? But sometimes it's because they've never been an entrepreneur. It's like and they've always had a job. And you know, it's nothing wrong because everyone's not cut out to be an entrepreneur, they're not. Some people need to have a non defense. Five because entrepreneurship requires discipline, requires lots of faith.
SPEAKER_03Yes, a lot of lots.
SPEAKER_01And so everyone's got to cut out for that. Because I have friends who tell me I need to get my check every week. I can't do what you do. And I we're different. But it's important. I tell people now to your point of having a community. I recently did a post and I said everyone needs to have a faith tribe.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_01F-A-I-T-H-Faith tribe. So that when you're going through a difficult season, and if you're an entrepreneur, if you've not gone through one, keep on working. Because at some point you're going to have a difficult season. That's just all part of life. And the question is, you want people around you at that time who are speaking faith so that if you begin to say things that are not in line with what God wants you to say, they'll bring you back. So you have to examine who's in your inner circle. Who are you talking to? Because sometimes people in your inner circle need to be moved. Because sometimes they're not going there.
SPEAKER_02Right.
Lifelong Learning And Certifications
SPEAKER_02I love that. A faith tribe. Yes. And um, you know, I I have been, I um, I have this series called Books of the Bible. We've been talking about faith for a few months, uh, like literally, because I I said faith is something that you can't grab it when you need it. You gotta have it already. You know what I'm saying? Because it's gonna it's gonna be hard when you come through when because you know when you asking for faith, you got to be um strengthening yourself. Just like you going to the gym. You got to you got to be strengthening your faith and exercising your faith, you know. It's like a muscle. Faith is like a muscle that only gets stronger when you use it. Exactly. Exactly. And you're gonna have to use it. So that is so good to get round and like you said, a faith tribe. I hope y'all are hearing that. A faith tribe.
SPEAKER_01Okay, not just a tribe, but I'm telling people, you want for me, I want a faith tribe so that when I want to say something or I've said something that's not it's unbelief, I want someone that says, check me so I can repent quickly and get back in order. So faith tribe will basically tell you when people will tell me sometimes. Uh, recently I had someone who said, I can't afford this. I said, What? I said, the God you serve is bigger than anything you're dealing with. I said you need to really reframe that and repent and change what you just say because you will have what you say.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. I love that. I love that so much, you know. And um, and so we need that, you know, we need those people. And just like we need education. And so one of the things that I wanted to know, like when you got into doing consulting and being an entrepreneur, what courses or experience or even education that you had to kind of take to help you and help strengthen you as you walk through this journey of being just in the entrepreneur space. And not only that, being in, you know, in the networking that you do, because I know that takes a lot of knowledge as well. So, what knowledge or extra knowledge that helped prepare you for where you are today?
SPEAKER_01Well, I was an HR human resources professional, so I got uh my master's in HR in urban affairs, and then I got the certifications that go with HR, so I'm certified with the HR industry with two different groups. So it says I have a lot of knowledge in HR, so I did that. I taught, as I said, I taught Dale Carnegie courses part-time for 13 years. I was a professor at Georgia State for a couple years, teaching an undergraduate HR course, and then I got certified in a lot of assessments. I mean, I am a professional student. I believe you have to continue to learn. So I'm certified like in DISC, Myers Degree, Extreme Deployment Inventory, Emotional Intelligence, Unconscious Bias. I want the mediation trend, I want to do adaptive leadership. So I am constantly investing in myself because I tell my class to do that. So during COVID, they had um Coursera, which is a program that you can people can sign on. It's free. A lot of the classes are free, some things are not free. But during COVID, I was looking to say, okay, I wanted to learn about contact tracing. And so they had a free contact tracing program that was offered by John Hopkins. I wasn't trying to be a contact tracer, but I wanted to understand what it was. So I went through the self-paced program and got my certificate as a contact tracer. So I'm always looking to invest and develop me. You never stop learning. You never stop learning. I'm always thinking what's next to me. So it's not that you take something like maybe every year, but I am a consistent taking classes, reading articles, doing different things, learning and asking people questions because I want to develop and grow. And I want people around me who are smarter than me, because I work with a lot of millennials. I've wrote written several books, and one of them is around millennials and Zoomers. So I learn a lot from them in terms of things around social media that help me because I don't have to be an expert at everything. I need to know where to go to get the expertise.
Stay In Your Sweet Spot
SPEAKER_02That is so true. Like, you don't have to be an expert in everything that you know, you just need to know how to go get the information. Get out of your pride, get out of your pride because you cannot know everything.
SPEAKER_01You know, I know a lot of stuff, but I have everything. So I put, I'm not, I don't do taxes. I have a tax person, I don't do technology stuff. So I have a tech person when my computers and stuff fall apart. I call them. I have someone who does a lot of my graphic stuff. So I know what my I know what my sweet spot is. I know that it's in I try to stay in my sweet spot. And those people that don't do well, I get other people who that's their expertise to assist me in that those areas. And so I tell people, don't try to be, you know, take the S off your chest. Try to try to be superwoman because you serve a super guy. He will direct you to where you need to go. Right.
SPEAKER_02Ooh, you I think you need to say that again. Take the S off your chest.
SPEAKER_01You have to be willing to realize you don't have to be superwoman because you serve a super guy, but you also have to be willing to pay these people because these people who do stuff for me, you have to be willing to pay them for their services. This is not free. The free stuff you want to hook up and all that, that's great if you can get it. But we I'm a professional and I'm valuable people do so. When they provide me with my service, I pay them. So be willing as an entrepreneur to pay other entrepreneurs for what they do.
SPEAKER_02Right. And that, and that's you know, and the thing about it, that that's what we need to do, especially, you know, because everybody try to do everything on their own. And then the people that are doing it in that expertise, they go lacking because of the simple fact that nobody comes to them, especially in in um the black community. We are we are big on I learned how to do it, you know, I know how to do it by myself. I want it for free. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01I want to feel I want it for free. I want to deeply discounted. Oh uh, I want it for free. And I get, I mean, there's nothing wrong with getting free stuff. I'm all for free. But I tell people you do something, if you do an event that's free, what I've found is that people don't value free. People will say they're going to come to a free event. You say you're doing, let's say you're doing an event and you get 40 people who say they're gonna come. And then it's Friday morning, it's raining, and what you get is you might get 10 because people have no skin in the game. But if I've paid money as an entrepreneur for an event, I'm going. And people pay right for what they value. When people tell you that something is too expensive, it simply says they don't value it because people will spend money on what they want to spend money on, period.
SPEAKER_02Oh yes, yeah, that is that is so true. That that right there in itself is so true, and you know, like like you said, courses or anything like that, it is it is um the value that you take in your own knowledge, in your own getting, you know, when like my mom always say, when you all you can get, you get well, what you get, get understanding, you know what I'm saying, and get knowledge.
Choosing Clients With Discernment
SPEAKER_02And so we have to make sure that we are doing that and and getting to that point where we can educate ourselves on on stuff. Like you said, we have to be a lifelong student, you know. Um, you know, I was saying this the other day with I was um on Monday. I was saying, you know, you you get to the 50s and you and and you still trying to live on as a 20-year-old, you ain't gonna know. You got to know, you got to be a student, you got to learn how to live on the 50 level, you know what I'm saying? And if you don't get that, you you're gonna still be stuck, you know. And so that that is that is so good. So, you know, once you get the understanding, I like to say this, you know, the understanding, once you get the education, you get more understanding. And so when you um got that uh that education and and and still is now, how much how much um understanding or how more important it is to understand where God is taking you because you have gotten more than that.
SPEAKER_01I think it's important because you have to, you know, spending time in the word as an ordinary minister as well, it is important to spend time in the word. It's important to know that if God gives you a gift, he'll make room for your gift. And it's important to know every client that comes to me is not a client for you. It's one of my friends said, all money is not good money. And you have to know sometimes when to step away because sometimes it's not a fit. Because when people, I found that when people challenge me sometimes earlier on or question my ability, uh, why should we pay you this? You know, blah, blah, blah. And when you start questioning me, I'm like, well, I would tell them I'm probably not the person for you. Yeah, I'll say because you're questioning what I bring to the table and I was referred to you. I'm probably not a good fit for you. And I will refer a colleague because I don't think this is gonna be good. I've learned not to go against what the Holy Spirit's telling me to do. When I get a check or this is not the conversation is not going sideways, and you're challenging me or asking me questions that clearly have been proven already, then I don't this is probably not gonna be a good fit. I've learned to walk away and pass it on to somebody else. Now, they may work under me in my business, but I won't be the one who's doing it. So you have to know that with understanding, you know, you want the wisdom, but you gotta have that understanding to know when to walk away. And that means you have to be tuned into Jesus so that you can know when you need to step away, when you stop calling, when to do this, when to shut up. We talk too much. Sometimes you just need to pause. And I told you sometimes there's power in the pause. Sometimes you just need to pause and keep your mouth closed.
SPEAKER_02Right, right, right. That is so.
SPEAKER_01Because speaking sometimes, you put it out there. We have you put it out there, and people say, I didn't mean it, I didn't mean it. No, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. So it was in your heart, it just took somebody had to push that trigger to get you to respond, but now we see that it's still inside of you. And you can say I apologize for getting in, but people hold on to that. People sometimes hold on to those things for a very long time. So I tell people, Beast, the Bible
Purpose, Peace, And Corporate Ministry
SPEAKER_01tells me slow to speak. The Bible says to study to be quiet. So there's scriptures that remind us that we need to sometimes keep our mouth closed.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_01So that's the understanding. You get the understanding and the wisdom to know, you will know when to respond, when not to respond, because sometimes it doesn't require response. So sometimes God wants to fight your battles, but you're trying to fight it yourself.
SPEAKER_02Oh, child, that is that is so true. And one of the things that you said that I that I really, really loved about how you have to understand when to pause, you know what I'm saying? Or and and then how you know, all money is not good money, you know. And I've said that, I've said that multiple times to certain people because you know, we don't, you know, we got to realize that everybody is not for us, you know. If you're trying to reach everybody, you reach nobody, okay? And so we have to make sure that when, like you say, you have to understand that um what God has said when He said, No, don't worry about them, because you can't, it's even in the Bible where Jesus said, Dust your feet. You can't, if they don't believe you, if they don't listen to you, you can move on and go to the next, right? And I and I just I just love how you how you said that, you know, with that understanding and everything about that, you know, and that right there, and I tell people now, when you get that understanding, you get excited. And so what really fuels your passion as you move along in this entrepreneurial space in these days and times? Because I know it's difficult in these days and times now, especially with what's going on now. But what just kind of fuels you? What keeps you excited about what you're doing?
SPEAKER_01I know I'm walking in my God-given purpose. And then when I talk to people, a lot of people I coach and work with, many times after we have coached, after I've worked with them, I pray with them. I many people have gotten promoted, and many times, just sometimes people talking to me and just being able to, they just dump everything. They say, I can just talk to you about everything. And I'm some sometimes just listening, but I'm providing wisdom sometimes, whatever God tells me to say, I tell them and they feel better. 99 times out of 100 when we get through, they feel better because I said, What you have to realize when God is your foundation, when Jesus Christ, your foundation, doesn't matter what comes. I said, if your house is built on a rock, like it says, no matter the storms will come, they will go, but you will stand. I said, but the problem is, I said, if your faith is not in God, it is in yourself, you're gonna be troubled when stuff happens. I said, peace does not mean that you're not going through something, peace means you know who is gonna handle it for you. Right. And so you can be at peace and the turbulence can be going on, but you
Parables In The Boardroom
SPEAKER_01have peace because the Bible says give the God gives you peace that passes all understanding. So it excites me when people really are able to tap into who they are, because based on something I may say to them, I said, look at what God has placed inside of you. Write down all the gifts you have and say, because I don't think you realize what God has placed inside of you. And many people, when they've done that exercise, they realize God's giving me a whole lot you think. We have to sometimes write it down so we can realize what God has placed inside of us and then use those gifts. My thing is I want to help people if we keep paying it forward. We all get to the winning circle. If we operate in a collaborative mindset, we all get to the winning circle. Doesn't have to be competition, it can be collaborative. Right. So I'm excited when people just just when I get a chance to talk to people and minister to people in the corporate world and stuff and get to talk about Jesus in ways that sometimes without even saying Jesus. I mean, but you know, I've been using parables and everything else, and they've just like, so I'm gonna talk about the Lord because He was the He was the greatest leader ever lived. But many times I've had clients that have told me, Yeah, don't say certain things. I said, Okay, then I just use parables. Because the parable speaks life right, right. People who don't know the word will say, right, I like your little stories. But people who know the word know that they are the Bible, so it is comical. You know, people who know the word they say, you be weaving the word in. I said, I'm gonna weave the word in. Now, people who don't know the word think they're just anecdotal stories, that's nice, but no, it's the word, right? So I get excited about what I did because I'm walking in my patch, I'm doing what God has called me to do. I get to help change people's lives because of the gift God is placed inside of me. It's not me, it's the gifts God has placed inside of me because I gets the glory for everything.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and I and I remember you telling me that story about how he was telling you that you couldn't, you know, say Jesus one day you were uh now can you tell that story?
SPEAKER_01I was doing work for a financial institution, and I was doing a workshop, and before I came up to speak, they said, Nancy, we know you're a minister, you will talk about Jesus, you'll talk about, you'll start preaching. And in the end during your presentation, I said, Well, we're we're paying you. So we don't want you to say Jesus or God during your presentation. I said, Okay, cool. You are paying me. You're right. This is I'm in a financial institution, I'm here with you delivering this program. No problem. So during the presentation, throughout the presentation, I gave a lot of parable stories in there. And so at the end, they said, You you still you you use parables. I said, You didn't tell me I couldn't use parables. You said I couldn't say Jesus or God. I said the greatest leader was Jesus. I honor what you said. I said, but the parables speak volumes, and all they can do is laugh.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02And they couldn't say nothing because you because you did. You know what's in your contract. I couldn't use parables. Right. So you know, and and that right there in itself, like you say, we we have to um always stay motivated, even though this the storms may come, and we have to always be passionate about what we're talking about, you know, and God, and like you said, Jesus is the greatest leader. And if you can't learn anything from nobody, you you can learn from Jesus, right? You know, and learn how
Owning Energy And Authentic Voice
SPEAKER_02he walked the earth and what he did to be successful on purpose, right? That is the main thing. And so, you know, um, are there any challenges that have come up that you when that question that excitement that you had, or or you just always just be like, no, sometimes people say your energy and stuff is too much.
SPEAKER_01And I said, I'm not the speaker for you. Because I can't contain when I get up on stage, this is who I am. This is my authentic self. And so this is what you get. So I can't, I can't dumb it down. I can't like, okay, you listen. No, this is who I am. This is my authentic self. So I may not be the speaker for you. I'm not the speaker for everybody, I'm not the trainer for everybody, I'm not the coach for everybody. But if you want me to come in and ignite your group, engage your group, empower your group, I'm gonna be able to do that because of the energy that God has placed inside of me, the enthusiasm, which means God within you, that draws people and makes people want to talk. Right. And plus, I'm giving people practical skills. I'm telling people about practical skills that they can use. Not I've been in the trenches, working in HR, I'm dealt with a lot of stuff. So I have some real-time stories I can tell people. I've I have had to walk through stuff when people have been in my face and tell me. They were at a group that one time when I worked for the airline, they told me um that mechanics would come over to the HR and tell me the rumor is you're gonna be fired by the end of the day. They'll tell me that. I said, Come back and see if I'm still here at the end of the day. It's well because they use intimidation. I said, You can't intimidate me. So when they come back, then that's I'm still here. I said, You have to understand I'm here on a mission until God gets ready for me to move, but I'm not going anywhere. When I left, I left at my own volition. They did not fire me. I left on my own volition. So yeah, there've been people sometimes people say my energy and stuff is just too. It's like you're over the top. I said, This is who I am. Now, sometimes, you know, I know how to just be laid back and all that. So I'm not always like on a 10, but the energy always comes through because it's a part of who I am. It's a part, it's the it's who I am. I can't separate my excitement and my energy from from me because it's a part of my authentic self. Right. And I don't apologize for that. Right.
SPEAKER_02Right. I love that. I, you know, and that's one thing that we have to do is keep excited because, like I often say, excitement brings the determination, you know, um, because you be determined, you stand committed to this mission. Can you talk about how important it is just to stay determined to what God has called you to do?
Determination Through Biblical Models
SPEAKER_02And that way you can always, always know that you're in the will of God. Can you just talk about how determination, how important it is?
SPEAKER_01Well, you have to be realize that when God gives you a gift, He gives you a call and gives you something to do, He's already equipped you with it. But the point is, there may be pitfalls along the way that will sometimes block you or distraction. Let's look at the story of Joseph in the Bible. Joseph told his brothers they were going to bow down to him, his dad, all the stuff, all that stuff. And basically they sold him to, you know, put him in the pit, sold him and everything. It was, he was on a 13-year journey before he became taking a command. Right. All along the way, he had favored wherever he was. He never said anything negative about the Lord. He was always get favored wherever he was, but he was in position and he had to be determined to say, you know, but he told the butler, remember me when you go back. The butler was like, I think it was like two years before the butler remembered him. Right. But he was determined in his place that he, when he told the dream, he said, You all gonna buy that. And sure as it was, 13 years later, he didn't know the path. Sometimes we have to be determined, we don't know the path of what's gonna take us to get there. But it was a path that was his journey because he wants what's gonna be the second in command in Egypt, and he was. So again, you have to be determined. Same thing with Joshua when he took over from Moses. He had to be determined to lead these people. But the Lord said, Be strong with good courage. So he said, I'm with you as I was with Moses, I'm with you. If God is with you. There's no reason that you can't be determined because God will fight the battles for you. He is with you. You just have to trust him. That goes back to trusting him. You have to trust God. We say we trust God, as my pastor said. You trust God, then you're able to rest in him.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right. I love it. I love it. You know, like you say, determination. We have to, you know, it Joseph, I mean, he was on a 13 year. See, when you read the Bible, you're thinking it's a few days.
SPEAKER_01Right. 13 years. I mean, you just think about the 13 years. But everywhere he was, he had favor. Everywhere he was, he never made he was never complaining and whining like many of us do. If something goes wrong, we whining and complaining. And all we have to do is look at the children of Israel. They were in the wilderness for 40 years because they whined and complained. And the old ones didn't make it into the promised land because God doesn't take county to us whining and complain.
SPEAKER_02Come on. The whining and complaining, y'all. Look, I hope y'all are taking notes because I'm over here taking. Y'all don't see me, but I'm over here taking notes because, you know, this is just so rich and full. Like, because, you know, we have to keep that mindset of pressing forward regardless of what is going on and regardless of what it looks like. Because I can tell you, it ain't gonna look, it ain't gonna look perfect. It ain't gonna look good, right? Um, all the time. We have to know that we have to stick to the promise. And that is what the success on purpose is all about for me, is being able to say, okay, you know what? I'm going to stay cute and be successful on purpose, and I'm going to keep pressing forward regardless of what it looks like, regardless of anything. So um, are there any kind of quotes that you could that you can leave with people or you can, you know, I just I want you to just leave any any advice that you can leave right now on how to stay queued up in those moments when it's like a good thing.
SPEAKER_01I just think you have to, first of all, you have to have a strong faith foundation. You have to
Faith Tested And Supernatural Provision
SPEAKER_01have strong connection with God. If you don't have that, when the storms come, it will cost you to wait. It's like when Peter walked on the water, when when he was walking on the water, when the Lord said, He said, That's you, Jesus, tell bid me to come. He stepped out of the boat. And when his eyes were focused on the Lord, he walked on water. When he got caught up into the distractions, the waves, the water getting high, he began to sink. And so our focus has to be if I keep my eyes on Jesus during this crisis, then I'm not going to waver. It may be difficult, but God will see me through it. So I think people have to realize you got to have the faith, but then you have to put people in your life sometimes for you to also be able to connect and say, hey, here's what I'm struggling with. Anything that you can share with me that might help me, is having those people in your network that are your faith tribe. But it's also annoying that it's the life is if the Bible says you love Jesus, there could be some suffering gonna take place at some point. So you're gonna go through seasons of difficulty. I went through a season of 2017 that was very difficult. And I just like, how did I get here? What's going on? But I knew that it was a season, and even during that season, I said, I'm going to trust you because I'm the Lord. You did not bring me here to lead me here. So I know this is gonna pass. And so it did, but I have to make sure that my confession, what we want to make sure is that our confessions are faith confessions, not unbelief, because the Lord does not come to unbelief parties. He only attends faith parties. Yeah, so I would tell people, faith isn't faith until it's tested. Do you because everybody else is taken? Make God boxes, take God out of the box. Because we put God in the box, okay. You move at my pace, and then I can do X, Y, Z. No, we don't move it. Him speak. We we should be whatever you want to do, Lord. I'm available for whatever you want. We want to put God in a box and say, okay, this is what you can do. Take God out of the box and let Him be God in your life.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. That is so good. That is so good. So I'm I'm so look, I am so honored to even just have you on here. Um, you know, that was just, you know, like you say, we have to, faith isn't faith and test.
SPEAKER_01I mean, literally, it's not you can people can say in isolation, I have faith. When the storms come, when your checkbook says $50 and your bills are $500, it requires faith to believe that. When I went through my tough season 2017, literally, it was the point of where it was tough. And so one Sunday I was at church and a lady said, I need to see you because I have something for you. And I was like, Okay. And she said, No, come, come, come. I said, okay. So we went to an area that was private. She said, I want you to open up this envelope. She said, You get your purse here? I'm like, Yeah. She said, open up. She had $500 bills she gave me. So I was like, Wow. I was like, oh my God. So I was, I thanked her. I was like, oh my God, I said, God, you are so amazing. So I was so excited. So I walked out of the private area and went into the foyer with all these people here. So the Lord said, go talk to this lady here and tell her what just happened to you. So I listened to God. I went over there. I said, girl, you won't believe what happened. Someone just blessed
Event Invitation And Contact Details
SPEAKER_01me with $500. She said, Oh, I repent because the Lord said to give you $500 several weeks ago. She said, I'm gonna have the chili tomorrow for your $500. I was like, She said, The Lord, she said, she said, I need to repent. She said, The Lord told me to give that to you a couple weeks ago and I didn't do it. She said, But maybe tomorrow is the chili and I'll give it to you. And I was like, Oh my goodness. So God can meet you at your point of need. You just have to have the faith, you have to have the faith that you believe that God can do it. And you have to grow, you have to elevate your faith because life will happen. It will challenge you. Your faith sometimes will be low, your faith will be challenged, all that, but you that's when your faith tribe comes in to help you to keep you keep you cemented where you need to be. And reading your word will also help you.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, it will. Oh, that's so amazing. Well, I'm gonna ask you. I was talking about my visit just about my event this next week. No, no, no. We're gonna talk about your event. Oh, we're gonna, you know what? Let's do it now before we pray out because I got I got the flyer right here. I want to show the people the flyer um because I did want to, I was gonna let you go ahead on and um tell people how they can first reach you. And then secondly, we want you to talk about that event. I'm coming with, I'm coming with everything, like my pen, my paper, and everything. And, you know, because of the simple fact that, you know, God has a lot that's coming through you, you know, and and um, and even in the network space that you that you do as far as um, you know, on on at the at the the radio, I mean not the radio, the the um TV station. Um, can you tell a little bit about the TV station that you have? I know you've got to be able to do that. The show, yeah.
SPEAKER_01The show is called Conversations with Dr. Nancy J, and it's a weekly show that comes on every Thursday morning at 9 a.m. on WATC TV 57. And so basically I interview people sharing their testimonies about what God has done in their life and how they're walking in victory because of what they've gone through. So we have I have a myriad of stories that I hear from people as they share their testimonies, they talk about what they're doing and how God is using them in the marketplace, wherever they are. And I tell people we talk to ordinary people doing extraordinary things. So it's every week. Uh again, conversations with Dr. Nancy J on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. on WATC TV 57. Wonderful. I mean, I just praise God. This is our sixth year. If someone had told me I'm doing this show for six years, I would have said, No, no, no, I don't think so. You know, I was just gonna do it for a year and then I kind of like step away. But we're in year six, so I just give God the glory because it's all I say, God. It's God.
SPEAKER_02Yes, God is always so yes, so I'm excited. I'm I'm super excited about everything that you're doing. I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure that you have um all the ways that you can connect with her, and um, and then I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure I put it in the chat probably after this, and then you um make sure you reach out to her. Like you heard some of her stories, you heard some of the things that God has brought her through and everything. So you reach out to her, and I'm I I tell you, she she's gonna give you what God has gave her. I'm excited, I'm excited about that. So um, anyway, you can pray us out and then I'll come and close us out.
