The Mississippi Gulf Coast continues to attract retirees because it offers a combination of affordable housing, mild winters, coastal living, and access to healthcare providers that accept Medicare.
Mississippi is also one of the most tax-friendly states for retirees. The state does not tax Social Security benefits or most other retirement income such as pensions, 401(k) withdrawals, or IRA distributions.
