When you learn about a problem, what do you do next? Likely identify “who is involved?”

The US Healthcare system is a problem. It’s costly for you and me (the users of healthcare). It’s costly for our employers (who generally pay 70% of premium). Who are the winners?

Today I want to focus our attention on insurance companies. They are just one of the pieces to the puzzle of our healthcare. The question I want to reflect on today is “How have things changed since Jan 1, 2010 as we think about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Since 2010, Median housing is up 50%. The DOW is up 250%.
Elevance Health (BlueCross BlueShield) has seen a stock price increase north of 650%.
United Health Group (UHC) has enjoyed a 2,118% increase.

Does that cause any concern?

Good news: our team is having success eliminating 20-25% of waste within the health plan for companies and their people.

Are insurance companies the only problem? Absolutely not. That said, it is worth considering who is benefiting the most from our current US Healthcare System.
