Speaker 1:

Hi and welcome to our podcast Revelation Within on the Go.

Speaker 2:

I'm Heidi Bilesma-Epperson, one of your hosts and the owner and lead coach of the RevelationWithincom ministry and I'm Christina Motley, your other host, also a Revelation Within coach and Heidi's partner in all things Revelation Within. We are so glad to invite you to join us today for this episode of our podcast Revelation Within on the Go Yay. I got you.

Speaker 1:

Alrighty so what we have for you today is quite a bit different than usual. This is a recording that we have offered some of our coaching class participants, specifically in our Mind Renewal 201 class, which is body image, and also in our study of the Body Revelation book by Lisa Keaton. This is a body scan, but not an ordinary body scan. We are inviting God in to this experience with us, and we welcome him to join us throughout the experience. It really is a mind renewal activity that you can practice If you're driving. We suggest that you wait until you have a quiet 20 minutes or so and then get comfortable in a chair or on the floor or on your bed or on a couch and listen and follow along. In this audio. We basically practice thinking God's thoughts about our bodies. We have had a number of our coaches actually say that it has been really helpful for them in seeing shifts in their body image, and if you like this and want more where this came from, please consider becoming a part of our community. Learn more about that at RevelationWithinorg. Now on with our Mind Renewal strategy, that of the Body Scan Meditation Audio. Hi and welcome to this, an audio recording of a body scan.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to start with a breath prayer. Let's first just start by inviting Jesus in Lord today, tonight. We thank you for being with us. We open wide our heart to you. We want your truth for each one of us personally. We want to hear from you. Bring each of us a personal breakthrough. We pray. Okay, let's start by doing a breath prayer. We're going to say, lord, speak, for your servant is listening. We're going to say, lord, speak and inhale deeply and for your servant is listening. We'll do that on the exhale Lord, speak, for your servant is listening. Exhale. Let's do it again and if you have the freedom to speak the phrases out loud and do the breathing, that's really helpful. Lord, speak, for your servant is listening. Lord, speak, inhale deeply For your servant is listening. As we go through the body scan, our focus will be on bringing awareness to different parts of our bodies and noticing any sensations, tension or areas of relaxation.

Speaker 1:

One of the best ways to build a better relationship with our own bodies is to listen to our body. We want to know our body and what it needs so we can respond with kindness. So we're going to use this time right now to do just that. Get in a comfortable position. If you need to pause this audio, you can. You can be on the floor, on a couch, on a bed, on a comfy chair, with your feet up, with your feet touching the floor whatever works for you. You can sit in a hardback chair with your feet on the floor. Just get comfortable.

Speaker 1:

And now let's begin by bringing our attention to our breath. Take a moment to notice the natural rhythm of your breathing. Allow your breath to flow gently in and out, grounding you in this present moment. Lord, we're mindful of you as we breathe. Thank you for our breath, thank you for the life in our body. We're going to start with our attention at our feet first. So bring your awareness to your feet, noticing any sensations you may feel Breath, coolness, tingling or any other sensations. Simply observe without judgment. Take a moment now and thank God for all that your feet have done for you in your lifetime. Have you danced? Have you moved barefoot on a sandy beach or through a grassy meadow? Thank the Lord for all your feet have done for you.

Speaker 1:

Now slowly move your attention up to your lower legs and knees. Notice any sensations or areas of tension or relaxation in this part of your body. Take a moment to observe and acknowledge what you're feeling. No judgment. Is there anything that you notice in particular?

Speaker 1:

Your knees are so very complex. The knee joint is actually the largest joint in the body. It's classified as a hinge joint, allowing flexion and extension movements, enabling you to perform activities like walking, running, jumping and bending at the knee. Of course, the cartilage in your knees acts as a shock absorber and it also helps to distribute weight and cushion the joint. It also contains a lubricating substance that reduces friction between the bones and allows for smooth movement. Think of all the many ways your knees and lower legs have served you or enabled you to enjoy life and serve others, and to serve the Lord. Take a moment to thank God for your legs and knees.

Speaker 1:

Now bring your focus to your thighs and hips. Scan this area, notice any sensations, any tightness or release of tension. Allow your awareness to flow through this part of your body. God has made your thighs with the longest and strongest bone in your body. The femur extends from the hip joint to the knee joint, providing structural support and stability. Your hips and thighs enable you to remain balanced and stable, able to control your body movements through space. Consider all of the many ways your hips and thighs have enabled you to manage life or made life more enjoyable.

Speaker 1:

When we have a leg or a hip out of whack, it doesn't take very long before we are deeply appreciative of having healthy hips and thighs. Have you enjoyed golfing, tennis, other sports, walking or hiking? Take a moment to thank God for your thighs and your hips, moving up to your abdomen and lower back. Pay attention to any sensations here. Notice the rise and fall of your breath. The subtle movements in your body as you breathe. Allow any tension to soften and any areas of relaxation to expand.

Speaker 1:

With whole judgment, how does it feel to consider your abdomen, your lower back? Many of us have asked a lot of our backs. By doing a lot of gardening, heavy lifting, housework, building things. Many of us have experienced pain in our backs. Others of us have emotional discomfort when we consider our abdomen. Ask God about these things right now. Invite Him in and still your mind to listen. If you have had babies at all, the miraculous ways your hips, thighs and abdomen all had to work together to expand and allow the space for the baby to grow and have all that your baby needed. That's amazing. Consider that your upper abdomen is the home for your stomach, where a lot of your digestion occurs. Consider the variety of ways your abdomen has served you, providing space for your intestines to break down your meals and to absorb nutrients. Thank God for your back and for your abdomen.

Speaker 1:

When you sing or speak, your lungs need to fill up with air. Your chest is a vital part of your life. Consider your chest and anything you're feeling there. Behind your chest bone are a number of vital organs like your heart and your esophagus. Continue to scan your body in this area, bringing your awareness to your chest, to your shoulders and your upper back. Observe any sensations, tightness or areas of ease. Allow your breath to gently soften any tension you may be holding. Take a moment to imagine Jesus with you and thank Him for the way your chest, shoulders and upper back have served you, others and Him.

Speaker 1:

Now focus your attention on your arms, from your upper arm down to your fingertips, right side and left side. Notice any sensations, the weight of your arms, the touch of your hands resting on your body or the surface you're on. Simply be present with what you notice. Consider how your arms and hands have given you so many abilities To love, cuddle, hold, cook, serve. Maybe you have held them up to praise God as an act of worship. Consider the physical sensations that you may have now in your arms and hands. What do these hard-working parts of your body need? Give thanks to God right now for the blessing of your hands and arms. Finally, bring your awareness now to your neck, to your head, to your face, your scalp. Notice any sensations, any areas of tension or relaxation in these parts of your body. Allow your attention to soften and release any tension you may be holding. Consider all that your face conveys to others Joy, love, delight, surprise. Take a moment now to thank God for your neck, for your face, for your head.

Speaker 1:

Now, before we wrap this up, go to the bottom of your feet again in your attention, and slowly scan your body up, from your feet to your lower legs, your knees on up, once again, anything that you feel. You want to embrace this God-given connection with our entire body. This is so important for this journey. Appreciate the sensations on your skin and in your muscles and the breath that is keeping you alive. Your body is good. This body is good, no matter what it looks like, or what it can or can't do, or how it may have changed or why God speaks truth and he says your body is good.

Speaker 1:

I would like you to speak, preferably out loud my body is good, my body is good, my body is good. One more time my body is good. And then I'd like you to say thank you God for my body, thank you God for my body. Thank you God for my body. Thank you God for my body. Let's wrap that up with my body is good Again. My body is good, my body is good. Rest there for a moment, if you like.

Speaker 1:

If you'd like to wrap this time up with a prayer that you pray to the Lord without me guiding it, you can take a moment and do that now. I suggest a prayer of thanks or worship. I know this was an unusual podcast episode, but I do so hope that you have found it helpful, refreshing, life-giving, restorative, and if not, that's okay too. What we have found is it can be helpful to listen to it the first time, not trying to go along with it necessarily, but then listen to it again and pray, asking the Lord to show you am I to do this? Is it something you want from me? And then surrender to him whatever he says, of course. Thanks for joining us.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much for joining us today this episode of Revelation Within on time. See you next time. Bye-bye.
