Loud Longings, Part 8: Abiding in God's Comfort
Revelation Within On the Go!
In part 8 of our Loud Longings, Holy God series, we explore the difference between chasing quick relief and receiving the lasting comfort God offers. Together, we talk about why we often reach for food, scrolling, overspending, busyness, or other coping mechanisms when life feels overwhelming, and why those cravings may actually be pointing to deeper needs. Looking at 2 Corinthians 1, Psalm 23, and Matthew 11, we're reminded that God doesn't ask us to stop needing comfort—He invites us to find it in His presence.
We also reflect on Elijah's exhaustion, the assurance of being fully known in Psalm 139, and the Holy Spirit's role as our Comforter and Helper. Rather than offering instant escape, God meets us with His presence, peace, and strength in the middle of our struggles. We share practical ways to receive His comfort through prayer, Scripture, worship, trusted community, and renewing our minds with the simple question, "Lord, what is true right now?" If you're weary from trying to numb the ache, we hope this conversation encourages you to abide in the comfort only God can provide.
