Show Notes

Leadership requires a certain degree of humility - not only does it create a supportive atmosphere where mistakes can be used as learning opportunities, but it also helps to build strong relationships between employees and their leaders. Instead of pointing fingers or doling out punishment, humble leaders accept responsibility for their own errors and use them to inspire others.

By taking the time to demonstrate these values instead of just issuing orders from above, you will foster an environment where accountability and humility are valued qualities among all individuals in your organization. This encourages open communication within teams, helping them work together towards common goals without fear of criticism or retribution. Ultimately, leading by example is one of the most powerful ways to nurture trust amongst team members - something that can drastically improve productivity!

On this week’s episode, "Lead with Humility: Embracing the Power of Servant Leadership"

On this episode I joined by one my very best friends and fellow leadership enthusiast, Larry Asher. Aside from being a close friend and confidant.
Larry is an exemplary leader who has the experience and knowledge to guide a business in the right direction. He has a strong command of strategies and techniques
that he uses to support his team and ensure their success. Larry is highly
respected within his field, and he is always looking out for new challenges and
opportunities that help him grow as a leader. His passion for learning and
growing shows in every project he undertakes, making him an ideal first
interview on Balance Cubed.

You are well rounded as a leader and have experienced a wide-variety of styles of leadership.

What do you think about when you hear about leadership and humility?

You and I have a unique experience every weekend as we walk and discuss the topics of leadership and leadership development.  For me it’s a great opportunity to connect at a higher level as we openly discuss books we’ve read, or lessons learned throughout the past week or over the course of an interaction.

As an integral part of being a servant leader, here are my 5 most important aspects of being a servant leader:

1. Empathy: Servant leaders practice empathy in order to understand the needs and feelings of their team members. They strive to foster a culture of inclusion and respect.
2. Humility: Servant leaders lead by example and demonstrate humility in their words and actions. They are willing to admit mistakes and take responsibility for their actions.
3. Vision: Servant leaders have a clear vision of the future and understand the importance of setting and achieving goals. They share their vision with their team and help to create an environment that encourages everyone to reach their full potential.
4. Communication: Servant leaders are excellent communicators. They listen carefully to their team and make sure everyone's voice is heard. They strive to create an environment in which everyone feels comfortable expressing their ideas and opinions.

5. Coaching: Servant leaders strive to support and guide their team. They provide clear direction and feedback and help their team members grow and develop. They strive to create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration.
“The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born—that there is a genetic factor to leadership. This myth asserts that people simply either have certain charismatic qualities or not. That’s nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born.” - Warren Bennis
