«Viewpoints» is the latest podcast and news magazine produced by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. It provides an overview of what’s happening across Canada, thanks to some 20 radio reporters posted across the country (British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, North West Territories, Québec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) and working for the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI). The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) supports the production of original civic journalism news content that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. Politics, society, environment, community, arts and culture take the air on «Viewpoints» hosted by Boris Chassagne. The Community Radio Fund of Canada works in collaboration with the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC).

We’ll go to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where the multi-million dollar da Vinci Xi surgical robot could change the game for the province. In Ontario, the Toronto Palm House Conservatory Green house reopens after a three-year-long restoration project. No walk in the park—An audit highlights pedestrian safety concerns around a new Nova Scotia library. We’ll stay on the East Coast, where 73-year-old Herb Nash has been fishing lobster for six decades. He says he does not intend to quit anytime soon. Then, all the way to the other coast, where the world’s largest Nanaimo Bar has just set a new record. Thousands got a piece of a finger-licking good 70-foot-long desert!
Thanks to our LJI journalists, Lauryn MacKenzie, Bill MacCuish, Mia Johnson, Ryan Funk, and Rick Conrad. Our National Editors are Victoria Fenner and Conrad Fox. Viewpoints is brought to you by the Community Radio Fund of Canada and the Local Journalism Initiative. I’m your host and producer, Boris Chassagne.
