Viewpoints
«Viewpoints» is the latest podcast and news magazine produced by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. It provides an overview of what’s happening across Canada, thanks to some 20 radio reporters posted across the country (British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, North West Territories, Québec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) and working for the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI). The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) supports the production of original civic journalism news content that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. Politics, society, environment, community, arts and culture take the air on «Viewpoints» hosted by Boris Chassagne. The Community Radio Fund of Canada works in collaboration with the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC).

A journalist’s meeting in Montreal was hampered by visa issues, as six of their guest journalists were denied entry. This as many Canadian activists were detained in Egypt during the “March to Gaza” event last weekend. We’ll also tell you a bit more about ourselves. FrequencyNews published its 5000th story this week! Summer is, for many of us, gardening time. In Fredericton, there is more demand for garden plots than there is available space. And a feel-good story for us. A Tantramar high school student has raised $30,000 to build solar panels for his school.
Thanks to our journalists, Adam Inniss, Erica Butler, Jules Bugiel, Aidan Keenan and to both our National Editors, Victoria Fenner and Conrad Fox, with whom we had the pleasure of talking to this week, live on air! Viewpoints is produced by the Community Radio Fund of Canada and the Local Journalism Initiative. I’m your host and producer, Boris Chassagne.
