SPEAKER_01

Welcome back to Next Step Fantasy Football Podcast. My name is Jake, and I am not joined by my friend Adam today. He is back at coaching super, super late. I mean, if you think 8 30 is super late, but he's almost done. It's currently 7 50, so he'll be done soon. But he's not joining us. I am joined, though, with or by, I should say, my best friend, Jordan.

SPEAKER_00

Jordan, how are you? I am fantastic. And best friend. I hope Adam's listening to this. Well, I well that it that was intentional.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, good, good, good, good. Well, it's good to see you, Jake. Yeah, you know, it's all right to see you. I appreciate you doing this with me. Yeah, August is the busy time. So football's back. Football's back. As of right now. Yeah. Uh Carson Beck, 96-yard drive as we speak. It's deep sleeper. Deep sleeper. Deep sleeper. Do's and don'ts are the episode today and do draft Carson Beck. Perfect. Perfect take.

SPEAKER_00

Not even a hot take.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Why don't we jump into it? We got some news first. The money came out today. Yeah, everyone getting contracts today. Something in the water. Since we last recorded, Bijan gets paid. Jonathan Taylor gets paid. And then Gibbs gets paid today. $750,000 more than Bichon. He just wanted to be called the number one running back.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

I love it. Great. This is fantastic for all of them. I mean, I don't think they were in any danger of ever holding out, anyways. So not a huge deal, but still, it's nice to see that they're happy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's fun. Well, you know how we feel. If we were GMs, we would just pay everyone all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_00

I would be a bad GM. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Let's talk about another signing. Stephon Diggs signs with the uh Washington Commanders. I couldn't think of their name for a second there. Uh the Washington Commanders. Brandon Ayuk, I'm sure, is very upset on Instagram somewhere.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I guess what do you think? Is this more of a football thing? Are you drafting him?

SPEAKER_00

Like I mean, it probably, right? Like you think Jaden Daniels, like we're high on Jaden Daniels, right? And so he has to he's part of that is because he runs, of course, but he's throwing the ball to someone. So Terry McLaurin, Stephon Diggs. Those are your guys, right? Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, there's no way that there's no way he replicates what he did last year.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Stefan Diggs.

SPEAKER_01

Of course.

SPEAKER_00

Of course, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but you know, he's a wide receiver three, right? I mean, he was he was wide receiver 18 last year. Somehow had a thousand yards. Um, no rushing attempts. Ridiculous. Uh yeah, I mean, running back or wide receiver 18, he's not gonna be that again. He is he more of a wide receiver. Does he crack the top 30?

SPEAKER_00

Well, listen, we are getting into some of my do's and don'ts right now about wide receivers over the age of 30.

SPEAKER_01

That's true.

SPEAKER_00

Uh a thousand yards, you say it like you talk about a thousand yards, like, oh, he had a thousand yards last year. He had a thousand and thirteen. Like, it's not like he was like blowing it up, you know, like it's not like he had a 1,500 yard season. So I I don't see it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't see why he's worth it.

SPEAKER_00

I don't see if it's not gonna be the same as New England, and you have to like I think he'll regress a little bit, that's less than a thousand yards and a few touchdowns, which is worth drafting, but it's not like move him up the boards, like I'm not overly excited. The spot isn't like well, it's because he went here, I now expect him to be 1,200 yard receiver.

SPEAKER_01

I think I think that if he's going to be fantasy relevant, super fantasy relevant, he will have to have there will have to be an injury to Terry McLaurin. Yeah, which is possible because we've seen the back of the state.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's not the chances are not zero that.

SPEAKER_01

But I think this is more of a football movie. It makes it makes me uh it makes me happier for Jaden Daniels. Like that's what that that's the fantasy.

SPEAKER_00

That's a good that's a good point. It is it makes Jaden Daniels stock rise a little bit, but his was already high. So correct.

SPEAKER_01

He's currently going as quarterback five.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it doesn't make him quarterback four, but it makes me more excited about him at quarterback five, probably.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it I would agree. I think it widens the gap between Jaden Daniels and then quarterback six, Jalen Hurts, for me. Yeah. Um, at least according to where ADP is currently right now, because that is not how I would have it, but we'll get into rankings later on. Um and then just some injury stuff. Everyone is getting hurt in San Francisco. Think of a player on San Francisco, not named Christian McCaffrey. It's just a shocker. They're getting hurt. I truly believe uh Christian McCaffrey is uh what's the word like a succubist. Or like a stealing their health. He's stealing their health. In order to keep him healthy, they need to steal his their health. Mike Evans hurt already hurt. Uh Sterling already hurt, Ricky Prashaw out for the year. So keep an eye on it. Don't love it. They had 20 guys not practiced in their training camp uh the other day. And then Josh Jacobs hurt his groin as well. So that's something to keep an eye on to. But still super early. Alright, Jordan. Do's and don'ts. We got lots of them. Why don't I start first and then we'll just kind of go back and forth? Um, and they'll kind of see how long this section takes, and we'll kind of see where we go from there. Um I'll start with one, okay? Do not also I we should mention that Jordan and I do not know each other's uh do's and don'ts. So hopefully there'll be some arguing and not just all in agreement, as I think was the last time we did this. So do not I disagree. Okay, you don't know what I'm gonna say. I disagree completely. You don't know what I'm gonna say. Uh I'm gonna start with a really lame one. Really hook the people in, Jordan. Um do not take a kicker or a defense in your draft.

SPEAKER_00

You're starting with one you know I'm gonna disagree with.

SPEAKER_01

It's the dumbest thing. The best thing you can do is stream your kicker and defense, unless you have Brandon Aubrey, which don't be that guy who takes him around early. The best thing you can do is stream the two. So why not draft two dart throws, someone, a Stefan Diggs at the end of your draft, a Malik Willis at the end of your draft, a Tyler Shuck. And then when it's time to week one, then you can go ahead and drop someone. But if you're drafting before the night, the day of the of the NFL season, don't waste a kicker in defense. Figure it out when it's time for the season to start, but don't do it during your draft. You don't need to.

SPEAKER_00

That's incorrect. Okay, incorrect. What if listen, Jake? What if your team had the Rams defense and Brandon Aubrey? You would start them every single week, and you would have a positional advantage over everybody.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. Maybe. Brandon Aubrey, sure. That's fine. But like the kicker, the defense is it doesn't matter. You're really gonna st you're not gonna play matchups on defense if you have the Rams versus San Francisco.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm Miles Garrett, send it. Aaron Donald, he's coming back. Let's go.

SPEAKER_01

We don't know that. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm I believe he will be coming back.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but if you're getting the best at both of those positions, you have to be the first to do it twice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's why you do it around early. Oh, yeah. The difference to me, the positional advantage of having a defense versus the guy in the 13th round that you're taking a flyer on. I will never start that. Like, if I take a defense in what there's what, 12 rounds, and I take a defense in round 10, and then I take a kicker in round 11, I will start them every single week. Jordan, no matter what.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry, you are so wrong. Brandon Aubrey was kicker three last year.

SPEAKER_00

That's fine. I'm just playing him every single week, Jake.

SPEAKER_01

It's ridiculous.

SPEAKER_00

I'm playing him every single week. The guy I'm drafting in the 12th round, I am not playing every single week. That's fine. I'm not playing ever. So you're just one less person to take the Rams away from me. Uh quick caveat. Like one round early is the maximum that I'm talking about here. God, you're so don't be like uh I'm not a person who's I'm not advocating for like four rounds early, take you know, Brandon Aubrey. Not for me. If that's what's happening, then you have an advantage by not taking them.

SPEAKER_01

How many kickers take how many kickers do you think averaged more points last year than Brandon Aubrey?

SPEAKER_00

How many averaged more?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It's three. I'll just or two. I'll just tell you. Jason Myers, it's fair, Bryan. The difference between because Brandon Aubrey's the one we're talking about because he can kick it a mile, the difference between kicker one and kicker seven was 2.9 points.

SPEAKER_00

That is that can't be true.

SPEAKER_01

It is per game.

SPEAKER_00

Per game per game.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Kami Fairbearon averaged 12.9.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay. Sorry, I thought you were saying total.

SPEAKER_01

Hold on. If you if you let go of Fairbear, because he was a full point higher than number two, Jason Myers was number two. Kicker number seven was 1.9 points less. Do not do points a week.

SPEAKER_00

That's two points a week.

SPEAKER_01

Two points a week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's not worth overdrafting your kicker. All right, we need to move on because this is ridiculous. All right, you go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Um, okay. I will uh start with one of my dues. Perfect. And that's do prepare your own rankings. Don't just I like that. Don't just let the ADPs like be your next step, you know. I think, especially if you're in leagues, if I if you're in leagues that are like a lot more serious, I think more people would do this as far as like making their own rankings, but every app kind of has a different set of rankings. If you look at Yahoo versus sleeper versus ESPN, they're all going to be different. And so just going off of the ADPs that your app tells you is not necessarily who the best player is. And so this is more than just playing the draft board, which I think is a different conversation. This is kind of putting together who you would like and in what order, and then taking them. Some of them might look, I'm using air quotes, look like reach, or you know, and that's that's fine as long as they're in your rankings. Um, I don't think I'm saying like reinvent the wheel because that's like a lot of work. Like you could be into that and make your own rankings.

SPEAKER_01

Um I would I would piggyback off you and consider to doing tier base based rankings.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh.

SPEAKER_01

Um, which I am doing for the first time this year. Spoiler alert for the home league. Uh so instead of looking at, I mean, you can have your sheet that says where ADP is, but like put your running backs, you know, there's the top two, right? There's uh Bijan and Gibbs, and then tier tier the next group. So like we'll do it together quick for the next thing here. Jordan, you would put you would here, let me pull it up. You would put McCaffrey. McCaffrey? Do you have Jonathan Taylor in the Gibbs Robinson? No, but he's so right. So we won't say that. So we got Taylor, McCaffrey. Would you put James Cook?

SPEAKER_00

I would probably put James Cook and that would be my tier two.

SPEAKER_01

So okay. So then if you get to the second round and for some reason James Cook is standing there. James Cook, you would you just go off your tier. You know that there's a tier break. It a better example, if I can tri let me restart this. If you look at the third tier of running backs, that's the better one. So you look at Ash and Genty, Derek Henry, Devonny Chan, Saquon Barkley. Tell me when you wouldn't put this in this Omari and Hampton.

SPEAKER_00

He's probably the one I'd be.

SPEAKER_01

Your break. So then when you're coming in a round of your third, your second your second pick, maybe you're drafting early in your draft, um, you might look at that and say, oh, Omari and Hampton's the last of the break. I think there's a difference between him and Chase Brown and Kenneth Walker and the guys after him. You might decide to take him instead of a receiver because he's the last of that group, that tier. Um, but it's also important to keep track of your ADP because you don't want to just be like, oh, I'm taking Josh Allen with the my first pick because he's first of my wide quarterback tier, right?

SPEAKER_00

I I feel like ADP is just like if you if you treat it as one data point instead of the law, that that's helpful. It's like good to know. It also, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It also helps you, it also helps you decide like who are the guys you like. You know, Malik Neighbors is wide receiver 13, but he might belong in a tier with Drake London and Nico Collins. So you might want to reach and take that guy. Um, it's a little hard to get used to, I will admit, because you have to be willing to just go get the people you want. Yeah. And even if the ADP is not what it says. Um, so yeah, give tier based a ranking. But I like, you know, make your own. Don't just go off whatever sleeper says. You don't want to be that guy at the at your draft who's just scrolling and you're just like, I don't know who I want. Come.

SPEAKER_02

Kids, hey kids, listen to me.

SPEAKER_01

Listen, children, keep young people who are listening, old people as well, print off some paper. I understand it's all on your phone. There's nothing better than bringing in a binder. There's nothing better.

SPEAKER_00

All right. It's good. If you're drafting in person, I should say. If you're drafting, you don't need to print in like have it at your desk.

SPEAKER_01

You could. Um, I you know, I was gonna do another do's, but um, I'll keep that going here, where I said do be willing to be flexible. Um, for example, in my home league, I'm gonna be drafting uh in the second spot. I know that I'm probably gonna take either Bijan or uh Gibbs or Chase, one of those three, right? And I've been mocking a million times. What do I do when it gets back to me? You know, it's pick 18, whatever it is, right? I have a plan of what I want to do. For example, maybe if like if I go chase with the first with the second pick, maybe I want to go double up receiver and maybe even triple up receiver in the third round, right? But what happens if Brock Bowers is staring you in the face at the last or the second to last pick in the second round? Or what if someone in front of you just takes Josh Allen for some reason? Like early. Or what if if what if James Cook has fallen all the way there? The point is, is you need to you go in with a plan, be willing to completely blow it up, though. And that's why you mock draft. When you mock draft, don't just to do the same first few things every single time. See what it would be like if you went running back, running back, quarterback, or running back, running back tight end. So be will be flexible.

SPEAKER_00

That's hard to I'm trying to think of a counterpoint to that, but it's hard to counter that. I think that is a very valid and important mindset to be in when you go into your draft, and for every reason that you just said, you just don't want to get caught in a spot where you're stuck or you're rigid in what you are planning to do. Like I think, especially with those early picks, that's where it's most impactful. Where you know, you could say, like, you're in the second spot, so you're gonna take Bijan or Jameer Gibbs, who's ever available, and then you're like, and then I'll get a wide receiver in the second round. Yeah, it's like what if you know, what if like you mentioned someone's there for you that would make it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that's what it is. That's what it is. Is you know, you take Gibbs, let's say, with the second pick, and then you're like, I'm gonna take Nico or I'm gonna take AJ Brown. That's the plan. And then Ashton Genty staring you in the face. Yeah, like or if you have Amari and Hampton high on your tier, right? And maybe you want to go that route, but just be willing to switch it up and then don't panic. Come prepared, know what you're doing. Jordan, do or don't.

SPEAKER_00

Which one do you want?

SPEAKER_01

I just said do, so why don't you don't?

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Folks who've been listening to the podcast for years know how I feel about this take, and so I'm gonna I'll I'm doubling, tripling, quadrupling down on it, which is don't draft a wide receiver over the age of 30 as a wide receiver one or wide receiver two on your team.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Uh do you have examples of people who are over the age of 30? I got it here. So um really it's just Devontae Adams is the first one. And he's currently going in the fifth round.

SPEAKER_00

He's the first one. Devon Diggs is another one that we're talking about. Um Mike Evans, another major one that's over the age of 30.

SPEAKER_01

There really aren't too many older guys uh high up this year.

SPEAKER_00

Good. People are starting to get the message. So they're learning. Yep. Basically, there's just consistently and statistically a drop-off of wide receivers over the age of 30, and they still find their ways up from the like up ADPs and rankings for this like name recognition. Mike Evans, Devontae Adams in his red zone targets. Um, Stephon Diggs, I think there will be hype around him now that he's in Washington. But it just is a it it lulls you into this idea of like they have all this history of doing it, and then they never repeat it. And and so uh some guys that are worth calling out, um, you know, we talked about Stephon Diggs, thousand-yard receiver, but it's a thousand and thirteen, and that was like deemed an amazing season for someone over the age of 30. Um, Mike Evans, I think he had like a thousand and four famously.

SPEAKER_01

Not yeah, not last year, but the previous year.

SPEAKER_00

Two two years ago, yeah. Um, and so that idea that they they could consistently produce is it it's just not one to get lulled into. So just let them fly by. They always get overdrafted, they'll be like fifth, sixth, seventh round picks, and that's just not for me. Because I'm taking them probably in that space as potentially wide receiver two on my team, and I just like I got no business doing that. They the stats don't back it up. Correct unless you're Randy Moss or Jerry Rice, it's not gonna happen.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, Mike Evans is going right next to Christian Watson. It's like you'd rather have the youth and the boomer bust. Cardinal Tate's right going after him, Brian Thomas Jr. going right after him. Um so yeah, you'd rather have the younger guys.

SPEAKER_00

Part of its injury, too, like injury, of course, like as you get older, injuries happen, and so you just have to like bake that in. But also, even people who are there all year and producing all year, once you're over 30, it just is less. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

I agree with you. Good take.

SPEAKER_00

As people who are over 30, that is a harsh reality to think about personally.

SPEAKER_01

But when I'm drafting, it's hard, yeah, it's hard for us to really allow that to affect us, but it's true.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah. You don't, I don't think I'd catch as many touchdowns now as I would have. In my 20s. In your 20s, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, I have a a good one. Um, and this is for me, the head the juice is not worth the squeeze if you if you get my drift. Do not at their current ADPs take a Jaguars receiver. Oh. So there are so many mouths to feed, and it's so scary. Travis Hunter isn't currently even being drafted. He's gonna be part of that offense. They they drafted him really high. Of course, he's gonna be part of that offense. I thought they were trying to move him more to DB. I don't know. Who knows?

SPEAKER_00

I guess that's part of it. Who knows?

SPEAKER_01

Jacoby Myers currently being drafted in the double-digit rounds. Just kind of ew. You know, he's the third, maybe the fourth best, if yeah, if you count Travis Hunter. Um, Brenton Strange, they just paid the man, so they clearly want him to be good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. are each going, they're going right next to each other in the eighth round. Guys going in the eighth round. Hold on, hold on, let me uh Ramar or Truba Hubbard, Carnell Tate, uh, Justin Herbert, J.K. Dobbins, Tucker Kraft going to the eighth, Tony Pollard. Here's the thing. For me, the headache. I in the in the later rounds I'm looking for in the middle rounds, I should say, looking for guys that are going to be home runs or consistent. I don't want the headache of which one is going to be better each week. If you take one of them, it's fine. It's just what you what is your expectation? Are you expecting Brian Thomas Jr. to be what he was two years ago? If that because I don't think that happens. We have never seen Brian Thomas Jr. be good with Trevor Lawrence. If you remember, he went nuts with Mac Jones.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, good. Parker Wash?

SPEAKER_01

Washington, Parker Washington, was really good with Trevor Lawrence last year. But he's going to be fighting for targets the entire rest of the year. I don't think that either of them have the upside that you'd want in the eighth round. I don't think that either of them are going to perform especially good, especially if everyone's healthy. Which then transitions to the my other thing, which is do take Trevor Lawrence.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I was just about to say, what is it? What about Trevor Lawrence?

SPEAKER_01

So ADP in the seventh round right now. He finishes quarterback four last year. Had nine rushing touchdowns. There's always a quarterback. Now I don't know if he repeats the nine rushing touchdowns, but there's always guys that are drafted late that will win you your league. Last year, Caleb Williams went in the 11th. Drake May finished as quarterback two. 12th round. Trevor Lawrence last year finished his quarterback four. He went in the 14th. Love it. Trevor Lawrence is the guy that has so many weapons. I absolutely love him. The rushing upside is also just fantastic. I don't think he gets nine touchdowns, but the guy's gonna run.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's interesting. You can get 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns by giving all of your guys 600 yards and three of those touchdowns. It's like you know, Parker Washington, Brian Thomas, Brendan Strange, like Travis Hunter. Everyone could have 600, 700 yards and four or five touchdowns, and that makes all of them not weekly starts, but it makes Trevor Lawrence a top five QB.

SPEAKER_01

He is my quarterback six in my rankings. Oh I have him right above Hertz. Um, I just I mean, granted, he's currently being drafted as quarterback nine, so it's not quite a hot to take. Yeah um, but he's one of my favorite. I also love the combination of him and uh Dak if you go back to back. But that's besides the point.

SPEAKER_00

Taking him and Dak.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So you have those two.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I love Dak Dak this year as well. You know I've talked about my love of Dak and their hatred of him because he has a star in his helmet. Take Trevor Lawrence. Don't take the Trevor Lawrence is the one you want. Do not take the the wide receivers. Their ADPs aren't bad. See, that's the hard that's the that's the argument against what I'm saying. It'd be one thing if Brian Thomas Jr. is going in the fifth. So I don't mind the dart throw if that's the route you want to go, but it's gonna be volatile. And I just no interest in that. Give me Cardinal Tate, who's gonna get all the targets.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you start Cardinal Tate every week, and even if he has a down week, you still start him the next week. If Parker Washington goes off one week, you're gonna be like, Well, Brian Thomas.

SPEAKER_01

Do you know, and I'm pretty sure every fantasy person or manager has had this before, where you have two guys and you're like, hmm, I just don't know which one to start, and you flip them all week, and then you finally pick Brian Thomas Jr. and he's gonna have a catch and eight yards. Yeah. And the other guy's gonna go off. It's just it's just life, it's just how it works every time.

SPEAKER_00

So stay away from the Jags receivers. I'll give you uh my next one is adjacent to that, your Trevor Lawrence take. Mine's a don't. If you're not drafting a quarterback, one, two, three, four, five, those top five guys, wait and draft 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. Basically, don't take QB five through 10 is my is my take here, which is if you are outside of and this is just you know how we feel about taking this early, but like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Drake May, Joe Burrow, Jaden Daniels. That the that tier or two tiers. If you take them early because you love them and you want those guys, great. If you don't take those five guys, don't take Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, Caleb Williams, Jackson Dart, Trevor Lawrence.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, he's right at the end.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. That I would skip and wait, and then I would wait till those ninth, 10th round guys, Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, MVP Matt Stafford is there for you. Jared Goff finishes in the top 10 quarterbacks every single year, and he's quarterback, what, 16? 16, yeah. Yeah. I love Baker Mayfield's in there too. Like, I just if if I'm not taking those, I'm not wasting any of my mid-round picks on the quarterback. I'm waiting, and I'm taking two guys, the Dak, Matt Stafford combo.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you're Bo Nick's Tyler Shuck. You know, like I like Tyler Shuck.

SPEAKER_00

You made it worse.

SPEAKER_01

I like Tyler Shuck a lot.

SPEAKER_00

But uh I guess that's my take there is, and that's a little bit counter to what you were saying about Trevor Lawrence, but I'm just let those guys go. There's always someone like Trevor Lawrence last year, like Drake May last year, like Caleb Williams last year, that finds themselves in the top ten, pick one of those guys.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, take Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes and feel good about it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I like Patrick Mahomes this year too. I feel like he's his value's way down just because of injuries.

SPEAKER_01

I think the thing is if you don't love Caleb Williams and you don't love Jalen Hurts, who gets a knock if it's a six-point touchdown league, if you don't love Trevor Lawrence, if you don't love Dak, then just don't do it. Then just wait. You know? Um like if you and I when I mean love, I mean like I love Trevor Lawrence this year. I think everyone should take him. But if you don't really feel convicted on it, then just wait.

SPEAKER_00

But you love Trevor Lawrence this year partly because of his where he his ADP is.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, but I think he's I mean, I'm he's in the ninth, or what'd I say? He's in the oh, he's actually in the eighth. The point is, though, it's later on.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but what if he was in the fifth? What if his ADP was in the fifth?

SPEAKER_01

I think that hits that hits the ceiling.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so you wouldn't like him as much, which is why I like some of these guys past 10, is because the value is so great. Like Trevor Lawrence as the ninth quarterback.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, yeah, Matthew Shafford was quarterback three last year.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Crazy. Um, sure, I'm all about that. Um, my last one is do not um again, piggybacking off of you, do not take a tight in the middle rounds. You know, if if you're gonna go get Brock Per Brock Bowers and Trey McBride, great. There should be a giant wait. Loveland and Warren are going in the fifth over Lad McConkey, Luther Burden, Jalen Waddell. I for me, I'm I'd much rather wait till the end. Get George Picken or George Kittle in the 12th right now. Kyle Pitts in the 11th. I don't want Colston Loveland and Tyler Warren in the sixth. That's just not for me.

SPEAKER_00

What's your where is the first? I'm just gonna read these to you. So Trey McBride, Brock Purdy, separate conversation.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_00

Colston Loveland in the fifth, Tyler Warren in the sixth, Harold Fannon in the eighth, Tucker Kraft in the ninth, all those guys you're skipping. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I'd I I think I'm looking at the eight or nine, if it's Tucker Kraft.

SPEAKER_00

Tucker Kraft. I'm not quite sure how I feel you would be interested in in single-digit rounds.

SPEAKER_01

I just get to I just I I understand the positional advantage over your the other people in your league. If you know, like Trey McBride was fantastic. He had almost a hundred points more than the next guy last year. So like I get that, but uh Dallas Goddard went undrafted and he was undrafted and he was tight end four. So he was better than Warren and Fannon. Hunter Henry is tight end seven. So it's like, yeah, you have a disadvantage, or you won't have an advantage like if you wait on your tight end. There are two guys that are 100% gonna outpace you, and that is Trey McBride and the Brock Bowers owners. And then you don't know, like it's Travis Kelsey had nearly as many yards as Tyler Warren last year.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, he did no, no, they played the same amount of games. But you don't think those rookies like were coming on strong at the end of the year? Like that that could continue. I mean, I guess it could.

SPEAKER_01

Like I can I the Loveland hype too is based off the playoffs, and I don't believe Caleb Williams repeats what he did last year, so they have a lot of mouths to feed as well. I'm it is just my opinion that it's better to wait on tight end.

SPEAKER_00

I I I think I agree with you. I you know, you've convinced me.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, thanks, man.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, all right. Do you have any more? I got one more for you. All right, go ahead. And I'm I'm actually very curious your thoughts on this. I say if you get one of those top we call tier one, tier two running backs, those bell cows, which are that that number of running backs is shrinking that are like true every down backs. Make sure you're prioritizing their handcuff at some point in your later range. Oh I'm thinking if you take like B. John Robinson, pick one. At some point, you should probably take Brian Robinson, right? Like you just get yourself totally.

SPEAKER_01

I have a different idea on that, actually.

SPEAKER_00

Have you with your different idea because I have a I have another proposal I wanted to float by you and you want to do that?

SPEAKER_01

I think it is better to handcuff your opponent's running this.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say that. That's exactly what I was gonna say. Is how do you feel about handcuffing someone else's? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's so good. If you take Pacheco, that Gibbs owner is gonna be pissed if he gets hurt. Uh-huh. Um because then you're you're grabbing Pacheco. You're you're and hoping for not hoping for an injury, well, you are hoping for an injury, to be honest, but like it's not affecting your team. You have upside by owning Pacheco on the end of your roster. The Gibbs owner has Pacheco just in case.

SPEAKER_00

It's more insurance.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's just insurance. There's no there's there's no added benefit. It's oh Gibbs went down. Well, good thing I have Pacheco, which is fine, right? Like you've covered your bases. But you've lost Gibbs, you insert Pacheco. If you, Jordan, are the Gibbs owner and I have Pacheco, I still have my running backs. And now I have the option of putting in Pacheco somewhere. Another one.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, yeah. I was kind of toying around with that. Like, I think those handcuffs to the Bel Cow running backs that elevates them in my rankings.

SPEAKER_01

And there's you know, there's very few handcuffs that are actually any good. That's the thing. I think Pacheco is decent.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Brian Robinson.

SPEAKER_01

I think Brian Robinson is decent, but I'm like looking at these running with Jonathan Taylor, no idea who it'd be. Christian McCaffrey. Christian McCaffrey, all of his are hurt. Um, James Cook, Ray Davis. We've seen him produce a little. Um, these are great guys you should go draft with your last pick instead of a defense. It's true.

SPEAKER_00

Unless the defense is the Los Angeles Rams.

SPEAKER_01

Let Jordan take the offense or the LA Rams, then. Um, but yes, I like the idea of drafting other people's handcuffs instead of.

SPEAKER_00

I think I like that too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Especially if you're mistake. Especially if it's like, oh, you have McCaffrey. It's like, who is his backup? You don't know. So you're just kind of just guessing and wasting time.

SPEAKER_00

Isaac Garendo still?

SPEAKER_01

Because he played great. No, he's her. I believe it's on the IR. Oh, bummer. Yeah. Uh all right. There we go, guys. Do's or don'ts. So do everything we said, don't do everything we said, and that then you will win your fantasy league. Right, Jordan? That's a guarantee. Guaranteed. Put a little star on it, guarantee. Jordan. You can book it. You can book it. We will be back next week. Let's doing some rankings. I don't know if Jordan will be here or not, but until then, Jordan, do you have anything you would like to say to the people?

SPEAKER_00

Go. What does Adam always say? Go, Broncos. Go Irish.

SPEAKER_01

Go whatever team he's coaching. Go, Birds. What's his team now? I don't know. Thunderbirds. Not a good look for Riverhawks. I don't know. You should come back weekly and stop not coming and hang out with us. All right. Deal. Alright, cool. Take care. Be good.
