And I took it, I took a"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":167.4,"endTime":172.14,"body":"lot of pain. And it was only in"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":167.4,"endTime":172.14,"body":"preparing for this episode that"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":172.14,"endTime":175.65,"body":"I realized I was able to do that"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":172.14,"endTime":175.65,"body":"because of my childhood"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":175.65,"endTime":179.19,"body":"bullying. Wow, won't that be"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":175.65,"endTime":179.19,"body":"something to discuss in therapy."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":180.06,"endTime":184.89,"body":"Growing up, I was weird. And I"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":180.06,"endTime":184.89,"body":"was chubby. And I was definitely"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":185.16,"endTime":187.86,"body":"not one of the boys and I"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":185.16,"endTime":187.86,"body":"experienced a lot of bullying."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":187.89,"endTime":191.82,"body":"Most of it was verbal, most of"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":187.89,"endTime":191.82,"body":"it was teasing. But there was"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":191.82,"endTime":195.33,"body":"some physical bullying. And what"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":191.82,"endTime":195.33,"body":"I learned to do was not react at"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":195.33,"endTime":201.33,"body":"all. And that translated became"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":195.33,"endTime":201.33,"body":"a skill set a defense mechanism,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":201.36,"endTime":204.48,"body":"a coping mechanism that I used"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":201.36,"endTime":204.48,"body":"in a lot of the pain base scenes"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":204.48,"endTime":208.89,"body":"I did as a bottom. I grew though"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":204.48,"endTime":208.89,"body":"I learned instead to not just"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":208.89,"endTime":213.48,"body":"take it. But to really not mind"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":208.89,"endTime":213.48,"body":"the pain. There's a difference"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":213.48,"endTime":216.99,"body":"between that not minding the"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":213.48,"endTime":216.99,"body":"pain means that yeah, this"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":216.99,"endTime":220.92,"body":"hurts, but I'm not going to hold"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":216.99,"endTime":220.92,"body":"on to the pain. And I'm just not"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":220.92,"endTime":224.28,"body":"going to pay a lot of attention"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":220.92,"endTime":224.28,"body":"to it. Because he was hot. And"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":234.36,"endTime":238.11,"body":"he was in leather. And he was"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":238.11,"endTime":242.91,"body":"Sir and that's what boys did."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":238.11,"endTime":242.91,"body":"Right? Boys make daddy happy."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":243.57,"endTime":246.42,"body":"And that's okay. So that was fine."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":256.71,"endTime":260.91,"body":"It wasn't really until I first"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":260.91,"endTime":265.62,"body":"got my tattoo that I discovered"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":260.91,"endTime":265.62,"body":"endorphins. Now there are people"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":265.62,"endTime":269.49,"body":"out there we call them pain pigs"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":265.62,"endTime":269.49,"body":"who are sort of naturally wired"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":269.49,"endTime":273.87,"body":"their brains are inclined to"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":269.49,"endTime":273.87,"body":"produce copious amounts of"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":273.87,"endTime":277.8,"body":"endorphins, the body's natural"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":273.87,"endTime":277.8,"body":"painkiller in response to pain."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":278.13,"endTime":282.18,"body":"I am not a pain pig. I do not"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":278.13,"endTime":282.18,"body":"have that wiring, but I finally"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":282.18,"endTime":285.99,"body":"understood what pain pigs"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":282.18,"endTime":285.99,"body":"experienced when I first got my"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":285.99,"endTime":289.44,"body":"tattoo. The needle starts in"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":285.99,"endTime":289.44,"body":"your ears, you're so afraid it's"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":289.44,"endTime":292.17,"body":"gonna be so painful. And I"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":289.44,"endTime":292.17,"body":"remember it's like, Okay, well"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":292.17,"endTime":294.6,"body":"that's that's not too bad. It's"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":292.17,"endTime":294.6,"body":"a little bit like the tip of a"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":294.6,"endTime":298.65,"body":"knife dragging across your skin."},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":294.6,"endTime":298.65,"body":"It's kind of scratchy. Alright,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":298.65,"endTime":304.38,"body":"that's bad. And then In some"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":298.65,"endTime":304.38,"body":"minutes in one, oh, the"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":304.38,"endTime":308.85,"body":"endorphins head, and I was"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":304.38,"endTime":308.85,"body":"floaty and I felt like I was"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":308.85,"endTime":314.61,"body":"walking on the moon. And I loved"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":308.85,"endTime":314.61,"body":"everyone. And I loved everything"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":314.61,"endTime":321.72,"body":"I remember thinking, Oh, this,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":314.61,"endTime":321.72,"body":"this is the endorphin rush. This"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":321.72,"endTime":325.86,"body":"is what pain pigs get to"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":321.72,"endTime":325.86,"body":"experience. But the you know"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":325.86,"endTime":328.02,"body":"what happens when you get"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":325.86,"endTime":328.02,"body":"tattooed because it lasts a"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":328.02,"endTime":330.66,"body":"really long time, like I was"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":328.02,"endTime":330.66,"body":"under the tattoo gun for a long"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":330.66,"endTime":334.11,"body":"time, the endorphins were off,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":330.66,"endTime":334.11,"body":"and then it becomes really"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":334.11,"endTime":337.68,"body":"annoying. And it's like, oh,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":334.11,"endTime":337.68,"body":"when is this going to stop?"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":338.07,"endTime":341.61,"body":"That's a side story. The big"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":338.07,"endTime":341.61,"body":"story is that I do understand"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":341.61,"endTime":345.24,"body":"how endorphins work, I have had"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":341.61,"endTime":345.24,"body":"that experience. But that has"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":345.24,"endTime":347.73,"body":"not been my experience in"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":345.24,"endTime":347.73,"body":"connection to my leather and my"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":347.73,"endTime":351.21,"body":"play, where my taking pain was"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":347.73,"endTime":351.21,"body":"really much more about"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":351.57,"endTime":355.74,"body":"tolerating it, not minding it"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":351.57,"endTime":355.74,"body":"and doing it for someone. The"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":355.74,"endTime":358.41,"body":"lessons there, which we'll"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":355.74,"endTime":358.41,"body":"explore even more in the next"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":358.41,"endTime":361.05,"body":"segment is that there are many"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":358.41,"endTime":361.05,"body":"different ways to be into pain,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":361.32,"endTime":364.89,"body":"to respond to pain. But I did expand my"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":388.68,"endTime":393.66,"body":"skill set. And I did learn how"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":393.66,"endTime":396.84,"body":"to inflict pain. But at first"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":393.66,"endTime":396.84,"body":"when I was a top, that wasn't a"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":396.84,"endTime":400.95,"body":"primary activity for me. Here's"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":396.84,"endTime":400.95,"body":"the lesson again, you don't have"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":400.95,"endTime":407.34,"body":"to be into inflicting pain to be"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":400.95,"endTime":407.34,"body":"a sir, a daddy, a DOM, a master,"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":407.4,"endTime":411.09,"body":"a top a participant in the kinky"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":407.4,"endTime":411.09,"body":"community. These are not"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":411.09,"endTime":414.51,"body":"requirements. They certainly"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":411.09,"endTime":414.51,"body":"were not requirements for me"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":414.51,"endTime":418.62,"body":"when I first started topping"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":414.51,"endTime":418.62,"body":"only recently have I had an"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":418.62,"endTime":423.45,"body":"extraordinary evolution and"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":418.62,"endTime":423.45,"body":"transformation into a new level"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":423.45,"endTime":428.67,"body":"of dominance. And I say that in"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":437.91,"endTime":440.7,"body":"part because it's kind of"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":437.91,"endTime":440.7,"body":"terrifying. And I like being"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":440.7,"endTime":445.05,"body":"scary. And it acts as a useful"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":440.7,"endTime":445.05,"body":"filter. Because people who are"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":445.05,"endTime":448.68,"body":"not ready for me generally go"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":445.05,"endTime":448.68,"body":"running. One of the reason I"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":448.68,"endTime":452.67,"body":"think men find that so scary to"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":448.68,"endTime":452.67,"body":"hear it because they think they"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":452.67,"endTime":458.76,"body":"need to take all the pain I have"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":452.67,"endTime":458.76,"body":"to give. That's not true. What I"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":458.76,"endTime":463.53,"body":"expect men to take is all the"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":458.76,"endTime":463.53,"body":"pain they can take. And that's a"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":463.53,"endTime":468.63,"body":"critical difference. I'm not"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":463.53,"endTime":468.63,"body":"inflicting pain, because of me"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":468.66,"endTime":472.8,"body":"because the infliction of pain"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":468.66,"endTime":472.8,"body":"causes me pleasure. I'm"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":472.8,"endTime":476.25,"body":"inflicting pain because I've"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":472.8,"endTime":476.25,"body":"discovered it is an"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":476.25,"endTime":483.36,"body":"extraordinarily useful tool. It"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":476.25,"endTime":483.36,"body":"brings people somewhere. And"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":483.36,"endTime":488.19,"body":"it's somewhere that I find"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":483.36,"endTime":488.19,"body":"extraordinarily interesting. And"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":488.52,"endTime":493.38,"body":"it's somewhere I can't go. I"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":488.52,"endTime":493.38,"body":"don't know how to go to that"},{"speaker":"Edge ","startTime":493.38,"endTime":499.05,"body":"place. That pain takes a man.
