Notes by Northwest
Notes by NW celebrates the music and the musicians with roots in the Pacific NW. Artists range from the Wailers and Ventures from the 1960s, to Ray Charles and Quincy Jones, each of whom lived in Seattle and met with they were 16 and 14; to icons like Kenny Loggins and Heart; Jimi Hendrix, of course; the grunge bands and their offspring; and contemporary artists like Brandi Carlile and The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio.

This wasn't the originally planned first hour--it was like the scene in Broadcast News where they're trying to get something on the air. You'll hear the originally planned segment next week, and I'll spare you the gory details.
This program included less of the 50s-60s "old stuff"; I did feature a Beach Boys song to honor the passing this week of Brian Wilson, the musical genius perhaps on par with Paul McCartney (and the PNW connection is Carol Kaye, the session bassist for many Beach Boys songs, is from Everett, WA-so there).
And I dedicated Simple Man to my dad for Father's Day. Simple in the way of honoring and living the right things in life. Love you, Dad.
