Read Keys - TEACH SOMEONE TO READ!

THE IRISH EDUCATOR and DYSLEXIA TRAILBLAZER

Mary McCool Berry Season 3 Episode 2

Mary Moran is an Irish educator with 300 hours of Orton-Gillingham practicum and decades of experience teaching students with dyslexia.

Moran wrote a systematic and explicit program used in 25% of Ireland's schools and by parents who wish to teach their children to read.

Mary's program was written with computer coding in mind.

How would I teach a computer to read? This is how Mary Moran began her process.

Moran's curriculum, DCode Dyslexia, teaches spelling, reading, and writing.

Mary Moran created the curriculum because many children struggled with reading, and she couldn't tutor them all.

The curriculum provides a toolkit for struggling readers.

Parents are empowered because they can work with their child and learn too.

In 2022, Mary Moran won a place in social entrepreneurship for her work around the social impacts of illiteracy.

Mary Moran: "Teaching students to read with dyslexia is not a state secret."
