Miss football? We didn’t have time to sulk. Pebble Beach served a two-act drama: a gentle, gettable opening and a weekend wind that turned every swing into a test of nerve. We ride the full wave—Ricky Fowler trending with a confident top-20, Scottie Scheffler detonating Sunday with three eagles and a historic top-10 streak, and Collin Morikawa reclaiming his blueprint with precise irons, poise in gusts, and a closing birdie that felt inevitable. It’s the kind of leaderboard swing that reminds you why Riviera demands ball-striking brilliance.

We also talk about the sports moment everyone will be quoting: Dottie Pepper’s unintentionally hilarious bunker line on 18 and Jim Nantz doubling it without missing a beat. It’s comedy born from chaos, and a snapshot of how nasty Pebble played in the wind. From there, the conversation widens: Anthony Kim’s redemption on the rival tour and why, regardless of logos, a comeback from injury, addiction, and years away still hits deep. Golf is better when resilience wins.

Off the course, we tumble into Olympic mode. Curling grabbed us by the brooms—yes, we synced our TVs and learned the rules mid-match—and hockey has the US and Canada barreling toward a heavyweight clash. Brackets are quirky, NHL injuries cast shadows, and yet the stakes feel right: precision and composure deciding outcomes on ice and on links alike.

Riviera is next, and the blueprint is clear: small greens, tight targets, and the kind of iron play that travels in any wind. We’re riding Scheffler’s form, watching Fowler’s confidence build, and expecting Morikawa’s control to linger. If you’re into pressure swings, sharp takes, and a few lucky bets that somehow cashed, you’ll feel right at home. Hit follow, share with a friend, and drop your bold pick for Riviera—who’s taking the trophy?

Coping With No NFL

Announcer

Welcome to another episode of the Bald Guys on the Bench podcast with your hosts Graham Cohen and Scott Wasco.

Graham

What's up, everyone? Welcome back to another episode of the Bald Guys on the Bench. Scotty Wah. This is week one of No NFL. How you holding up, brother?

Scott

Hey, you know what? I heard that earlier. Thought about it. Not too bad. You know, we had Pebble Beach. We had some Olympics. You know, for those people that like to watch cars drive 500 miles and turn left the whole time. That was their Super Bowl today. You know, I mean, it was alright. I guess the main thing that helped me out was I had to go into work tonight for an event and I didn't sit on my couch all day and be like, hmm, there's no football today. So I was busy, you know what I mean? Like you, I know you didn't leave the couch. So I know you were probably like, oh man, what am I supposed to watch right now? Facts. You know, uh I mean, you don't like hockey. I mean, you do when it comes down to the end, but anyhow, let's grab it, let's crack it, dude. I mean, come on. I've been waiting for this moment for 20 minutes while Graham fixed his computer. Let's go. Oh, thank you. You little baby Jesus.

Graham

I just can't even with you sometimes.

Scott

I mean, let's go, grab crack, a little sports, you know. But before, you know, because I'm a nice friend and I'm not selfish, I asked my buddy, how was your weekend there, Graham? What'd you do? Anything? Well, go see some movies.

Graham

You do start it off, so it's a lot easier for you to remember.

Scott

Uh, what did I did hear you pissed yourself at a movie Friday night?

Graham

Yeah, first of all. Context. Context. Let's slow your roll there. Like, what the don't throw me under the bus. I didn't piss myself. Uh, I saw a movie, I saw um Get Help. The uh I already forgot her name. What's her name? Your girl? Rachel McAdams.

Movie Night And Island Survival Plot

Graham

Yeah, Rachel McAdams. The uh stranded on a desert island. Dude, that shit was nice.

Scott

It when I saw the previews, I was like, is this gonna be like what was that movie? Castaway Wilson. Yeah, with Wilson. Wilson!

Graham

Yeah, Tom Hanks, you mean?

Scott

Yeah, yeah, Tom Hanks. Was that I mean, I was like, is it gonna be like that? Like, what the hell?

Graham

No, I mean, it really wasn't. And look, I saw the previews and was like, oh, you know, there's something to this. And basically, I mean, not given the movie way, the the plot basically is like, look, Rachel McAdams plays this character that uh she's this financial manager for this company. The new the boss of the company uh basically retires and gives the company to her son. Her son looks her over for what her father or what his father was gonna give her the vice president role in the company because she's a beast and amazing. And the son is just basically like, Yeah, um, I'm gonna promote my boy that I went to college with and play golf with over you and who's not good at your job. And she's one of those people that you know lives by herself, keeps to herself, and just a go-getter in the sense of like being great at her job. And she tries to fight and be like, Hey, I want this job, I deserve it. And he's like, Yeah, yeah, yeah, you ain't getting it. But since you're the brands of the operation, we still need you to do the work, but not get all the credit for us, and we need you to come with us to Japan to you know do this big presentation. Long story short, they're on the jet, something happens, plane goes down, there's like six people on the plane, only two people survive her and the and the new boss, and the movie's more or less about them surviving on the island. And the cool thing is is she is the one that has you know the skills to figure it out.

Scott

You know, they on yeah, she's smart.

Graham

Well, that, but like the before the plane starts going down, the the owner and like his BF, the new or should say the new president is BFF that got promoted. Basically, he's like, Hey, you want to see something funny? I got I found this video, and they're showing a video to all the guys where it's basically her audition for Survivor. So they're showing the mom, yeah, Rachel Maca Eddie. So she does a survivor and they're like all clowning her and all this other stuff, and it just comes to find out like she knows how to survive, and she basically like helps saves them and all this other stuff.

Scott

And I mean, not to give the rest away, but it's I mean, you're not giving the movie away, but we all know they're gonna live. I mean, come on. We know that, yeah, yeah. We know that. I mean, it's just uh shit in between, yeah, yeah. Just like me watching Lincoln Lawyer the other night. I mean, we know what's gonna happen with Mickey. Is that his name? Yeah, Mickey, yeah, yeah. We know what's gonna happen. He's not gonna go to jail for the rest of his life. Exactly. Exactly. But it's the shit in the middle. And you know, I ain't mad at you. You got to go look at Rachel Mac Adams for three hours.

Graham

Yo, uh, you ain't wrong.

Scott

The end. So, but the end, yeah. But you did say you were glad your mom won't there because you said she would have jumped out of her seat a couple times.

Graham

Yeah, my mom, I mean, look, my mom's heart's hanging on by a thread. I mean, look, she's fine, but you know, she can get startled very easily. And dude, there were three times where just I literally jumped out of my seat because you just don't expect it to happen. You're just like, oh my god. And I was just like, oh my, like, I almost had a mini heart attack, and I was like, Ma, it's probably a good thing you didn't come. Even though, like, it was a really enjoyable movie. Like, I liked it, but I was just like, Yeah, you would have, yeah, you would have a heart attack.

Scott

But uh, other than that, well, anyhow, you know, movie reviews again. We can go into some other things with her in it, uh, you know, wedding crafters, thanks for playing. The notebook, you're welcome.

Graham

Oh, you and Kristen watched it. Don't give me that BS.

Scott

I I really don't know. I probably have watched it, but I couldn't tell you anything about that movie.

Graham

Okay, who was the other main co-star?

Scott

Not looking.

Graham

Uh I mean, this is I mean, you should get this.

Scott

I don't know, dude.

Graham

How about this? I'll tell you who he's married to.

Scott

Is it Tom Cruise?

Graham

No. No, he's married to Eva Mendez. Do you even know who Eva Mendez is?

Scott

Yeah, I do. She's got that moly moly moly moly moly moly.

Graham

Um does Rachel McAdams on the side. I know.

Scott

Hers was better, though. Um she got a better bowl.

Graham

Who says that?

Scott

This guy? Um, I don't know, dude. Who's married to Eva Mendoz? I don't know. I give up. Ryan Gosling. Whatever, who cares?

Graham

He's a good actor.

Scott

Yeah, uh, whatever. I'd rather be married to Rachel McAdams than Eva Mendoz, but tomato, tomato. Yeah. Even though Rachel McAdams, oh Canada, our homin.

Olympic Hockey, Anthems, And Poutine Jokes

Scott

Dude, USA and Canada Olympic hockey teams domination station right now. Are we gonna get the four nations rematch when we start brawling, dude? Three fights 47 seconds in. I can go ahead and tell you, no, we're not, because in the Olympics, you fight, you're gone. It ain't just a penalty box situation, it's BUBA. What? So that ain't yeah, that ain't happening. It's the Olympics, bro. That ain't happening. I mean, we saw some Canadian dude cussing out another dude the other day and curling. He dropped the F-bomb. I'm like, what the whatever. It's awesome. We're gonna have a fun ass show tonight. I'm just saying. Eight minutes in, we're talking Rachel McAdams, we're singing Canadian's national anthem. And by the way, in a hockey game in Canada, when they do the Canadian national anthem, yeah, that's all the singer that is there to perform it sings. You know why? D May. The coolest thing in hockey, all the fans in the arena sing. It's awesome. Awesome.

Graham

What do you think?

Scott

It's amazing. I wish our fans in the United States would sing that.

Graham

Well, you know, when it's pretty amazing. All 30 million of the fans in the entire country of Canada. I mean, it's the only thing they got going for them. I mean, it is their national pastime, it's the only thing they care about.

Scott

That's fine. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying it's amazing.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

They get some famous person to come in, oh Canada, our home in native land. The end. Are you partnering? No, I'm not. I don't eat gravy on my French fries. You love poutine, shut up. Poutine, make you puke teen. Uh it's the butt anyhow, what else did you do on your weekend, you know?

Graham

Uh you're unbelievable. Uh just um watched Olympics, watched golf, and caught up and watched that Lincoln lawyer. So I I thought you watched it before me.

Scott

Like I had to catch up against it for me, but you know, I have a job, so I couldn't continue to watch it. I had to come home and watch it at night. I don't get to watch it during the day. Um, but yeah, I finally finished watching it. But sorry, a little jab right there for my boy. Um, so what else? Watch a little golf. Yeah, you know what we did do last night? We watched curling.

Graham

Oh, yes, we did.

Scott

And folks that have listened to our shows in the past always know that Graham and I, before we are watching a football game or a basketball game, try to link up so we're at the exact same time, you know, with with the shot clock, like Graham likes to call it in football, or the time in basketball. So last night we're watching curling together. Obviously, it's we've already known the results.

Graham

Tape delay.

Scott

But tape delay, but Graham and I last night, for the first time ever, had to match up in curling. Dude, we talked about it last night. That was something.

Graham

You're like, oh, this already happened. I'm like, that didn't happen yet. This is bullshit. And you're you're like, Well, I guess we're gonna have to time lake it up right now.

Scott

I'm like, I'm like, all right, they're showing the left arrow. Tell me when they put the left arrow on on the it was hilarious. And as we were watching it after we linked up, we looked up the rules, so now we know exactly how it works. Hey, shout out to our boy Badger, too, by the way. Yeah, US Olympic alternate on the curling team way back when he's obviously I think he's 54. I don't even remember what Olympics it was. But I remember seeing his Olympic card where he could go into the Olympic training facility whenever he wanted. Could you imagine Badger going into a training facility? That's pretty funny. But he did have it. I mean, I'd love to go curling, you know. This Olympics, it's funny. Like, granted, social media is way more popular in this and that, but the amount of people talking about curling on social media platforms is amazing. They're like, I don't know what the hell the god dang rules are, but this is fun as shit to watch.

Graham

It is, it yeah. Look, curling is I mean, not that we're saying it's the next best thing, it's the next sport, but like, look,

Curling Obsession And Learning The Rules

Graham

it's like a cross between shuffleboard and bocce ball, like on ice. On ice, I mean, if that was available here to do, I would play that. It looks pretty cool. I I think there's gonna be a lot more hype for curling in the future.

Scott

I hope, and uh it's an expensive thing to build though, you know, ice and this and that. Yeah, but have you seen the funny ass shit on social media platforms with people doing it in their house with their roombas, their little vacuums and cruising around the floor and they got the broom and they're like doing it, dude. Amazing, amazing. Kristen sent me one the other day about pissed myself. Hilarious. But you know, so that wraps up your weekend, you know, it's Sunday night right now, obviously. Yeah, nothing on TV right now, except for some Sports Center. I don't know. I ain't nothing going on, but the rest no doubt. What that?

Graham

No, I was it's just I was uh comment under my breath, quoting Black Street, no diggity, just it's lyrics in the song, anyway. Uh, but hey, let's make it obvious and be like, hey Scott, hey Scott, hey Scott, how was your weekend?

Scott

Ladies and gentlemen, two weeks in a row. Uh weekend was good, dude. Friday night didn't do much. I had yesterday off. Weather's been piss here, didn't do much yesterday. What did I do? Oh, yeah, I did. I did a lot of shit yesterday. My bad. Uh went to a wedding at two o'clock. It was Valentine's Day. Went to a wedding. Uh, then went out to eat with uh Kristen on Valentine's Day with Kristen Maros, his wife Bonnie, and my boy Isaiah, all right, and his wife Shaley. And, you know, that was my day. It was a long day. First, I think, I don't know, it's the second dry wedding I've ever been to. And it was fine. I mean, I was cool with it, whatever. The wedding was at two o'clock in the you know, in the afternoon. And I was like, Kristen, it's all good. Remember, we're going out to eat with all these folks tonight. If we were drinking beers at two, ain't no chance we're going. We're gonna be passed out, done.

Graham

And she's like, oh, Kristen would be passed out. You know, you're you're a little better than that.

Scott

Yeah, but still, it's like, no, I'm good. But uh, you know, did that today, woke up, had to go uh watch some golf. Obviously, Thursday and Friday fired up. We'll get into that in a minute. Uh, had to go into the club today for a little pebble beach watch party with the members and a little putting contest. It was fun. I was dreading it, but it was a good time. And, you know, shout out to Titleist and Scotty Cameron, donated a putter to us, and the overall putting champion got a free Scotty Cameron, $500 putter.

Graham

So I mean pretty sick. That ain't bad.

Scott

Yeah, pretty sick. Yeah, pretty sick. And you know, somebody we always mentioned on the show, Audrey, uh, had to cruise over a couple weeks ago to get the cool little things. I'll send you a picture of them uh for the putting contest. She let us use them. Members loved it. Your boy even made a water hazard, dude, in one of the putting on one of the holes. It was sick. Took a little mixing bowl from the kitchen, put water in it, and put a little lie board on it, and had a little ramp. You had to hit it over the water. It was sick. But uh, it was fun, it was cool, you know. They liked it. That's all that matters. But uh, other than that, got him late. It's weird working on a Sunday, but I'm off tomorrow. Whatever.

Graham

Ain't mad at it.

Scott

So I ain't mad at it, dude. But uh, I guess it's time to jump right into the first elevated event of the year.

Graham

Yes. Before we do, though, I I I got one question I gotta ask. So I don't know exactly where you're going. You have no idea what I'm gonna say.

Scott

100%.

Graham

Write it down, take a picture. I don't give.

Scott

And I was prepared for this.

Graham

You I promise you, I just came up with this. There's no way you're good. Yep, I guarantee it is. Not.

Scott

I'll be honest.

Graham

Okay, tell me.

Scott

Go ahead. Go ahead.

Graham

So for someone that has brought up on previous episodes of the podcast, do you now take back the comment of hey DraftKings, you shouldn't allow drunk people to make bets? Why? Your NASCAR! Mr. Oh, but you made the NASCAR comment earlier, which I know you watch absolutely none of.

Scott

What? I don't even know what channel it's on. Kidding me? I just learned right now the dude, he's the fifth person ever to come in second place the previous year and win this year. And the best thing about my bet that I didn't even know either, you know who owns his team?

Graham

The GOAT. You pick the guy that's on the Michael Jordan team? Oh my god. Yes.

Scott

I mean, is that any good?

Graham

Michael Jordan.

Scott

He's a date. Michael Jordan is a Daytona 500 champion. You're unbelievable.

Graham

23 XI Racing. This guy, Scotty Watt, has been on a cheater these last six, eight weeks. It's unbelievable. He just throws a dart at the board and it's like, all right, I'm gonna bet this. Did a plus four thousand. Oh, here's two dollars to win a hundred. Thanks for playing. Sometimes you get lucky. Oh, hey, I'm happy for you. I'm just it's last you know what the craziest part was?

Scott

Please. The craziest part was my

Weddings, Work Events, And Pebble Watch Party

Scott

guy didn't even lead until the wreck, I guess, on the last lap. Okay. Yeah. And the best part was the guy that was leading, okay? I had him too.

Graham

You're unbelievable.

Scott

I had him at Ricky Stenhouse Jr. I had him at 20 plus 2800.

Graham

Of course, you pick the two guys that come in first and second.

Scott

I'm sorry, what the only thing I know about NASCAR is they turn left. That's the only thing I know. And you know, like they always say, NASCAR stands for what? Non-athletic sports centered around rednecks. That's all I know about NASCAR. Don't know. Don't care. I love it. Hey, if my balance in my DraftKing account keeps going up, I'm happy.

Graham

Shit.

Scott

I'm happy.

Graham

So what what do you think I was gonna say?

Scott

I thought you were gonna talk something about Liv.

Graham

Oh. Thanks for reminding me. I didn't even think about that.

Scott

Before we even get into the Pebble Beach thing, we'll jump into this real quick. I everybody knows my feelings about Liv, right? You love it. Yeah, yeah, love it. Um I saw something today that, you know, last night I was maybe a little banged up when it was happening, wasn't watching it live, and I'm just talking shit. And then I saw something today that really made me open my eyes about the situation that happened last night.

Graham

It was live last night, we were watching it.

Scott

I wasn't watching it. I will never watch it. Wow.

Graham

Well, we were talking about I was watching it, we were on the phone.

Scott

Jerry, you didn't even know what's going on. Shut the front door. But anyhow, I saw something today that said no matter what side of the fence you're on as far as PGA and live. Love the story of Anthony Kim.

Graham

Facts.

Scott

Of everything that my guy's been through. And I was like, you know what? I ain't mad at it. It was a solid win. Then I started researching more onto Anthony Kim. Dude, he's you know, we all know the story of Anthony Kim, right? He was Ryder Cub, won three events on tour, an amazing player, firecracker guy, you know, like kind of like John Rom. You know, emotions on his sleeve all the time.

Graham

Young too when he was winning.

Scott

Young. And I read something today, my guy was popping in and out of bathrooms during the masters, during the event. Doing drugs.

Graham

Wow.

Scott

To get him through the day. Wow. To get him through a round. And then, you know, he he tears his Achilles, he has that insurance thing where he can't play golf for X amount of years because he gets that guaranteed money. And dude, he contemplated killing himself. You know, when you start reading this shit, it's like, man, what a story, dude.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

I mean, I don't care if he plays on the goddamn Golden State tour in California or whatever. I'm a golf nerd. I'm a golf person. I don't care. It was pretty epic. It was epic for for him. Right. I'm just like I always say, Liv is trying to what? Grow the game. You're not growing the game by having this shit on. They're playing in Australia at 12, 1 o'clock in the morning. If that was yesterday, you know, prime time when people could see it. You know, I just Well, it was on.

Graham

I was watching it live. It was eleven ten o'clock at night when it or eleven o'clock when it ended.

Scott

Yeah. Pacific time.

Graham

Well, fair. I mean I mean, okay, fair, fair, fair.

Scott

You know, I I just I I think it's cool. I loved a lot of the PGA tour guys, Justin Thomas posted something. A lot of the guys on tour were posting stuff about it. I thought it was pretty cool.

Graham

Hey, hold on a second. To be fair, I had to what time did the Ryder Cup start in Italy for here on the West Coast? And I was still granted, what time I go to sleep, that's irrelevant. But my granted, I'm not comparing Liv to the Ryder Cup. I'm just saying, like, if you want to watch it, I uh you know what I'm trying to say. I get

Drunk Bets, Daytona Luck, And DraftKings

Graham

it. All I'm gonna say is, yes, everything to what you said, but I know how strongly you feel about Liv. I'm just I don't want to say sad. I'll just say last night when I was watching it, there was a small part of me that like I felt I won't say unfortunate, but just like to watch him, like I wish you could have seen his emotions. I I saw the you know the shit on replays, but I'm just saying, like, each whole, like, dude came back, he shot nine under. Yeah, with no dominated, no bogeys. Dude went out there and shot nine under and one by two. Like, it wasn't like, oh, you know, I'm getting a little four under here, four under there. Like, he went out there and played his dick off. I mean, I watched the end of round three, and DeChambeau had like a three-shot lead at minus eighteen, and homeboy finished round four plus one. I was like, what? I mean, to see AK at the top and just like his emotions, how all the fans were getting into it. You know, every time he made a birdie, it was just you know how excited and pumped he was, and the gestures and everything. It was just, and plus, he was making shots. Granted, the course they were playing at was a little easier. I mean, there was a lot of shots. Don't care. No, don't I'm just I'm just saying you gotta hit shots. Facts. Facts, facts. I'm not taking any of that away. But I I would just say just the raw emotion. But I think what really touched me more was you know, once it was finally over, just seeing all the players like, dude, there was basically like a waiting line because every player wanted to congratulate him, you know, all the guys on his team. It was to a point where like Bryson's like behind him, like basically trying to tap on the shoulder, like, dude, like one, I want to give you daps, and you know, he talked to him for about 30 seconds, but also it got to a point later on, he's just like, All right, I need you to sign the scorecard because like they were in the same group together. It's just like can we get it up, please? Can we get this over with? Yeah, type of thing.

Scott

But it's just like all the dude, it's the first time he's won since 2010. Yeah.

Graham

That's and and and look, the only reason, well, I can't say the only reason, but the only reason he has that opportunity that he's on a team is because Patrick Reed was like, you know what? I'm going back to the door, dude.

Scott

Anthony Kim had to go to Q school for the last spot on Live this year. Yeah. Because he was getting booted.

Graham

Yeah. I, you know, Faraday was just like, you know, especially coming up 18, he's just like, is it you know, how could you not be compelled for emotion in this story? He's like, how is this not one of the greatest stories in golf? And it's just like, look, you there's all different types of stories of how you compare, you just like this is like what the greatest thing coming back. And like when he said that, I made the comment to you when I was watching, and I was like, Have you heard of Tiger Woods in 2019? Like, yeah, I mean, but it's just like they're just two very different stories, you know what I mean? And it's just like when you think about it in totality, what AK had to go through. I mean, he basically said he's just like, Look, now he's just like, I want to win the my whole motivation was for my family and to have my daughter be out here and see me get the dub. I mean, granted, she's not old enough to really realize what's going on, but still it's just like to see him on the straight and narrow. I mean, the the only thing, and I don't want to make this sound like a joke or anything, and shame on me for saying this name, but I said this to you at the po I was telling you last night. I was just like, damn, his face is jacked up. That nose is rough.

Scott

Yeah, I mean, I'm just looking. He tore his Achilles in 2012, withdrew from the PGA tour, vanished from the public eye. Remember, we've talked about this shit when he first came back.

Graham

Well, the insurance, I mean, that was $10 million.

Scott

Yeah. Then he then he said he revealed that during his hiatus he fought drug and alcohol addiction, dealt with suicidal thoughts, you know, had the the insurance thing. It's just crazy, dude. And you know what? Good for him. We all love uh a comeback story, yeah. And it's a love story, dude. The guy grew up in LA, played at Oklahoma, came out early and got the dubs. We're like, who the hell is this guy with his crazy ass, you know, belt buckles? You said Adidas last night, but he was a Nike guy, not throwing a dart at you. But remember, I don't, I mean, remember everybody when he first came out, he choked up on every club, you know, as a golf nerd. Everybody's like, Why is this guy choking up on every club? The guy had a golf swing. Like, God dang.

Graham

Yeah, I mean, I I mean, for coming out, I mean, early and doing well, I mean, not that they're the same, but it's kind of like him and Ricky, just how beloved coming out young and doing what they did in the beginning and being fan favorites. I mean, dude, at that time, yeah, AK was the man.

Scott

He was out there, dude. Like he was insane, insane. Love it, love, love it, love it, love it. He said that he's been sober for two years. You know, it's

LIV vs PGA And Anthony Kim’s Redemption

Scott

it's wild, but I don't know. Good for him. I love it. But hey, let's jump into Pebble Beach. Let's see. Uh let's do it, bro. I mean, heading into the first round on Thursday, I'm seeing videos of dudes hitting like mini drivers on par threes on the par 317 because the weather was awful. And then all of a sudden Thursday happens and you're like, God dang, ain't this place is perfect right now. Soft, gettable, dudes are lighting it up. The scoring average at spyglass breaks the record all time. Why? You're just like, you're just like, there you go, Andy. First one. What? Uh dude, Andy loves it when you say that, by the way. That's why I always say that after you say it. Um what? There you go. There's times two. Uh dude, they were perfect on round one and two. And you know, after Friday, what has a bunch of thumbs and is fired up for our boys? Yeah. Me, you, and all of our other friends. Yeah. You know, I mean, our boy goes out 66 day one, 60, what do you see, day two, 64 day two with a three putt on a par five, uh, sitting there at 12 under one shot back, heading into the weekend. And like I said last week on the show, talked to Romano last week, and he's like, he's back, dude. He's back to himself. He ain't trying to play golf swing, he's just out there grooving it and playing golf. You know, and that goddamn putter on Friday, whoo boy, that shit was hot. I mean, that cup had to look like it was about that big.

Graham

Right? Yeah, then of course I send our boy Romano the congratulation text and fucking jinx them for the weekend. Uh no, you didn't, dude.

Scott

No, you didn't. I mean, no, you didn't. Hey, top 20 in an elevated event, double FedEx cut points. Facts. Cash. That's what he needs right now. He's building. Yeah, no, for sure. Everything's building. Yeah. He's getting a dub. Oh. Like I said last week.

Graham

He's due.

Scott

Like I said last week, can somebody please tell me once again where I can bet on this? Facts. I can't find it. Um, but the best part of the whole week to me, Thursday, I'm looking at the stats, and his last hole was the ninth hole at Pebble. I've never played Pebble. And I'm looking at it and I'm like, he hit a 349-yard drive, and I screenshot it and sent it to Romano, and I'm like, God dang, that new driver must be amazing. 349 yards. I mean, god dang. Romano's like, dude, it's straight downhill once the ball lands. I'm like, all right, got it. I'm like, I get it. I was like, God dang, I can't wait to get mine. I might be able to hit it 265, 270. Let's go. And so, and by the way, a couple weeks ago, that's still past Joel Damon. Uh um, but wow, I literally screenshot it and I sent it to Fowler. And I'm like, great round today. 349R drive. Wow. And he comes back to me and goes, Yeah, it was uphill and into the wind, too. LOL. Dying, right? You know, hilarious. But hey, top top 20. Love it. Had a rough start in the last group yesterday on Saturday. Had a rough start, buggied the first hole, whatever. Made that dub on the par five, and by making that dub, he made like a 12-footer, even to four dub. Right. Shot brought it back though, got it to one over. You know, shot a couple under today. Conditions were brutal, dude. And like Romano said yesterday when I texted him, he goes, the guys that went out early yesterday didn't have to play in that shit. And who was one of those guys? Morikawa. Yeah. We'll get into that in a minute. But I hope people that listen to the show heard Dottie Pepper on the 18s whole last night. When Batiya was in the bunker on 18. Because I could not believe what I was hearing. Oh my god. And the best part of the whole thing was Jim Nance. My boy. And folks, if you don't even know what I'm gonna talk about, somehow go back and find the play of it. Baltia was in the bunker on 18, and we all know it was howling, right? It was blowing hard. And my girl Dottie Pepper goes, uh, it's blowing so hard right now. He's gonna get a facial from the sand. And Jim Nance goes, What'd Jim Nance say? He goes, Okay, there you go, folks. Then he hits the shot, and Nance says, Well, he got the facial you were talking about, Dottie. She I mean, that could literally, right now, Graham, literally be the end of the podcast when I'd be happy. We don't have to say one more word because that was one of the greatest things I've ever heard on golf commentary in my life.

Graham

So it could be a mic drop moment. So this obviously was Saturday. You were at the wedding reception. I was at home. I was home. Yeah, I was home. Oh, you were at that time?

Scott

I got home to watch the last three holes. Okay. My whole question is this the way our world is with social media and everything, why have we not seen that anywhere? Well, they will Why am I and you the ones talking about it?

Graham

Well, they will tomorrow because we're clipping it.

Scott

I don't get it. I don't get it. I listen to Colt Nost every Tuesday, and he always says he gets these tweets about dumb shit he says on the air.

Graham

Well, to be fair, when I was watching it, I mean I'm paying attention, but it it flew over my head. I mean, I like I heard it, but like I like I didn't catch it until you, when I finally contacted you several hours later, and you're like, yo, did you hear what happened with Dottie Pepper said? And I was like, what you mean? And you're like, What?

Scott

There's another one for you, Andy.

Graham

Then you said it and I was like, Oh my god, I missed that. Just right over my head. And then you played it for me. And then last night, after you know, we're watching stuff, having a few beverages, you see the replay came on, and I'm like, I gotta record this.

Scott

I I just I don't know. I mean, I'm almost to the point right now. I mean, I just gotta show it right now. I hope the microphone can pick it up. Let's go.

Graham

Ah, you're unbelievable.

Pebble Beach Setup And Fowler’s Form

Graham

There you go.

Scott

There you go, folks. And with that being said, we'll see you next week. Amazing. Couldn't believe it. Anyhow, let's jump right in. Scotty. Like I said.

Graham

What did you say last night? About Scotty.

Scott

But but I said Scotty is gonna go deep.

Graham

And by go deep, you mean shoot 63?

Scott

Let's make let's make three Eagles in a round of golf. Let's eagle three into the four par fives. Uh one thing, you know, he goes out, like I said, round one, conditions are perfect. Right? Perfect. Everybody's going low. And Scotty has to birdie his last hole to shoot even par.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

Right? Same kind of goddamn thing as last week in Phoenix. And what I tell you, Thursday night, trying to find Scotty's total for overunder on his round on round two. It's there at 67 and a half. I go, I look at it, I exit out of DraftKings, go back to do it, it's gone. Totally taken off, unfortunately. But anyhow, you know, dude. He shoots even par day one, 66, day two. Everybody's going deep, right? He's only or he's 60, where the leaders are 13, Fowler's 12. Then he shoots 67 yesterday, and he's you know, all right, so he's he's like 20 tie for 22nd going in the last round. And then what happens? Oh, I'll tell you exactly what happens. Scotty happens, and by Scotty happening, uh if you like starting your round off with Birdie, Eagle Birdie. I mean and then and then misses like maybe an eight-footer on either four or five, goes par par on four and five, and then eagle on six, birdie on seven, bogey's eight, par's nine, shoots thirty on the front nine with a bogey. And you know those guys in the last couple groups are going, oh shit. Right? Oh, of course. Birdie's 10 and 11. I'm like, oh my god, this guy's gonna win. Bogie's 12, birdie's 14, bogey's 15, and then Eagles 18. Yeah. His 18th straight. What? Top 10.

Graham

Is that any good?

Scott

First time since when? Like 1950 or some shit like that. Insane.

Graham

That's yeah.

Scott

Finished his T4.

Graham

What do you say to that? Kudos?

Scott

There ain't much you can say. Except for Wow.

Graham

Oh, I think they're gonna give me the Ric Flair, the woo.

Scott

It's late over here on the East Coast, so I'm not trying to wake everybody up. Dude, I I just what can you say, dude? Yeah. The guys, the guy is the last two weeks shit in the bed, round one, and he still got a chance on Sunday.

Graham

He did. Hey, I really enjoyed watching uh Min Woo on Sunday. He played some golf. He did. He played some golf.

Scott

He had a great week.

Graham

I think he's due. I mean, I he's he's gonna get a dub this year.

Scott

He's got some dubs. I mean, I don't know, dude. I I'm just saying right now, like I told you before we even got on, I got all those free bets from the Super Bowl last week heading into Riv. I used one of the $50 bet free bets on Scotty at plus 300. Which is insane. If it loses, oh well. Yeah. But it's the right play. Yeah. I mean, he's Riv is a ball strikers golf course.

Graham

What Scotty? It's not like you can't say he's not trending up. I don't you know, it's you know, it's like you know, Tiger 20 years ago when he's favored every any tournament he's in to win, or should say every tournament that he's in, he's plus 200 to win the event. That's insane.

Scott

It's stupid.

Graham

Like to be that odd with that many players playing, granted, this is an elevated event and there's only so many players, still, like yeah, insane.

Scott

It's insane. It's crazy. We're spending time on Fowler. We're well, obviously, we're a little biased here. Um, Scotty, why? Oh, number one player in the world, duh. Uh let's talk about the guy that won, dude, and Colin Morikawa. I mean, first two days, 69, 68. You know, that ain't cutting it, you know, with the way everybody's lighting it up out there.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

You know, but then, like I said earlier, got to go out early. Uh, what do you shoot? 62 on Saturday? Yeah. Well, see, yeah, I'm just gonna go this way with if you say this, I'm gonna smack the shit out of you.

Graham

You don't know what I'm gonna say? I know exactly what you're gonna say. I promise you, this is gonna be two for two. You have no idea what I'm gonna say. And folks, if you can see this death look that he's giving me right now. What I was gonna say was Pebble. Okay. It's no, we go like, well, what do you

Dottie Pepper’s On-Air “Facial” Moment

Graham

think I was gonna say?

Scott

I'll tell you after your little point that you're gonna say.

Graham

Well, the commentators made a big deal about it. Well, I'm gonna say a big deal, but it's just like, you know, for a course that's under 7,000 yards, if there's no wind, you're going low. But if there's wind, which most of the time that there is, for that type of course, it's a course that when you play the US Open there, like that's a course if there's wind and rough, you're not shooting 62 there. You're not shooting par there. I mean, granted, it's a smaller, it's not smaller, it's a shorter course, but there's a lot of I mean, I'm watching a lot of shots. If that rough's five inches, you're not seeing yeah, you know what I mean?

Scott

Like, yeah, 100%.

Graham

Especially, I mean, look, the second to last group, what was the guy's name that was telling you that hit it in into the beach?

Scott

Look, all the shots Oh dude, Bridget, I think, was that his name? Yeah.

Graham

Uh, you know, normally when you see shots, iconic shots from 18th and pebble, if it's you know, if they're hitting it from the quote unquote beach, it's it's the second shot, right? Like they don't make the fairway. It's rare that you see him hit them from the beach green side, mainly because there's water there. It just so happened that there wasn't water there, and he's hitting this shot where he has to hit it like what is he, 25 feet down? Yeah, and still has to hit like a 40-yard shot. I mean, he hit that shot. I mean, granted, he was trying to play out the he was trying to play it out the hazard so he didn't have to take a penalty shot. He hit it out, he didn't make it. He hit the rocks and went boom.

Scott

Yeah, dude, he had he hit his T shot 327, he had 207 of the hole, and he hit his second shot 247 yards left to the water. He had 52 yards left to the hole, and then he hit that one 34 yards, and then he took the penalty and went back in the fairway for the drop.

Graham

Yeah, and made a hell of a bogey putt.

Scott

With the ball doing this, yeah.

Graham

I and folks, like the reason why also this is nuts, like if you didn't know the wind was going diagonally, I guess, like what would that be like northeast, so helping and left to right. So to hit it 15 yards off the Out of bounds into the ocean? Like, how is that possible? Like, 25 mile an hour winds? What?

Scott

While Murakao was waiting for 25 minutes.

Graham

Yeah. Like, what?

Scott

But I thought you were going to say.

Graham

What do you think I was going to say?

Scott

And this is why, this is why the Live Tour's cool, because they do shotguns and everybody plays in the same way. That is I was getting ready to smack the taste right out your mouth. Make you bat down, you little hoop. That was nowhere close to what I was thinking. I was going to be like, Graham, if you say this. But anyhow, back to Moroccala, bro. Shoot 62 yesterday, you know, in good conditions. And, you know, goes out and shoots 67 today. Makes Birdie on the last hole. Hits it in two. Two putts. You know, Straka's sitting there, makes the Eagle on the last hole. I mean, the funny thing is, what I say here, it's been how many days? 847 days since Mora Cowl has won a golf event. Yeah, that's almost three years, bro. And we're talking about a guy that has two majors under his belt early.

Announcer

Yeah.

Scott

Early in his career. And a guy, and this is hilarious. And as I was typing the notes, I'm like, I can't even believe I'm saying this. Guy's got two majors. Someone that is known as one of the best ball strikers out there. You know, doesn't hit it deep, but doesn't miss screens.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

He's known for not being a good putter. I'm sorry, what? He's got two majors. How can you type that and say you're not a good putter? But, you know, it was his time, dude. Uh it was it was awesome. Then he comes out and at the end and announces to the world that his wife's Prego. You know, he's like, we haven't told anybody, haven't made it official. Wife's pregnant. Good story.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

Love him.

Graham

I mean, hey, golf is hard. You want to talk about previous major winners that haven't done anything? Uh, when was the last time Speeds won some of relevance? I mean, he's won a couple majors.

Scott

He's been battling some injuries. No, but I'm just saying, it's just like you know, you know who I'm getting ready to bring up talking about winning majors and ain't doing shit. My boy Danny Willett. Where the fuck are you at, bro? I mean, come on, dude. I mean, we've already had that discussion on my boy Danny Willett. We need to go back. Have we had a kick rocks moment in a while? What has two thumbs and is the worst masters champion of all times? That guy. I mean, good god almighty, Danny Willett. Oh, dude.

Scheffler’s Surge And Historic Top-10 Streak

Scott

You're bringing up Jordan Speed and nutshit and you don't even talk about Danny Willett. Like, who are you? I said multiple time champion.

Graham

Dude.

Scott

Multiple. Hey, Jordan played well this week, but whatever. Danny Willett. I mean, come on, guy. Yeah. Hey, but once again, my boy Jerry, only person in the world I know that bet on Danny Willett to win that goddamn Masters. He must have clicked the wrong button.

Graham

I oh, a hundred percent. That's all I can say.

Scott

That's all I can say. I mean, definitely clicked the wrong button.

Graham

Oh, dude, it was I right.

Scott

Gifted.

Graham

Side still delivered to that guy.

Scott

Yeah. Speaking of Jerry, he took an all-time bad beat on Thursday, dude.

Graham

Oh.

Scott

Tell me. He he bet on Patrick Rogers to have the low round on at Spyglass in round one. I remember, yeah. Like $25 to win like nine hundo. He shoots eight under Rogers.

Graham

It's pretty good.

Scott

Keegan shoots nine.

Graham

Did what Keegan shoot the next day?

Scott

Dude, he shot one of the greatest one under par rounds of golf you've ever seen in your life. If you go look at his scorecard. Yeah. But, dude, sorry, Jerry. I had to bring it up. He was blaming me because he told me. I'm like, shut up, dude.

Graham

Jerry, you're dumb. Does Jerry listen?

Scott

Yeah, he listens. Give him a shot.

Graham

Oh, hey. Well, I that's not a shot. Look, Jerry, that's not a shot. I'm just, you know, sometimes look, we we know the friends that listen, and you know, there's some that say, oh, we definitely listen. And I'm just like, I'm looking at a location. I'm like, hold on, I'm not seeing, I'm not seeing your location where you live. So Jerry's Riverside. Yeah, yeah. So all right, fair enough. No shade, Jerry. My bad. My apologies.

Scott

Hey, I'm just gonna go out there and be like, hey, Jerry, you picking Danny Willett is like me when the day turned on five hundred.

Graham

Oh my god. The fact that you got the one and two spot is just like when you to folks, Scott texted me the first time I heard from him today. He screenshots his winning bet and it's like LFG. My response is play the lotto. Like, dude makes a drunk bet at 1:30. No, I did it this morning. I did it this morning. Oh, that was this morning? Oh, I thought it was last. You made a comment last night. You made a comment last night.

Scott

Oh, I was gonna I was gonna bet Dinny Hamlin to be the high finisher for Chevrolet cars. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Yeah. I mean, look at the time. I made it at like two o'clock.

Graham

Well, I wasn't I I wasn't dissecting your bet.

Scott

I know. But anyhow. Uh Riv next week, another elevated event. I already told everybody, bet on Scotty. Plus 300 free $50 bet. How do I not?

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

It's the right play. If Riv is a bomber's course, it's a ball strikers course. Small greens, let's go. Let's go. And you know, Ricky Fowler, Ricky Romance, let's keep it going, baby.

Graham

Top ten, baby. Let's go.

Scott

FedEx Cup points, world ranking. Let's go. Gotta get in that top 50. Because I wanna go to Augusta. And I ain't going unless y'all there. But I'm sorry. Uh anyhow, Olympics. It's been awesome. It's been fun. Watching hockey, watching curling. That's all I've really watched of the Olympics, honestly.

Graham

Uh the only other thing I've been watching is uh I've been watching a little uh it's it's called Skeleton. You know what this is? No. Oh, you know what bobsledding is? Yeah. Okay, so imagine um, you know those uh so you know those old school sleds back in the day, like I'm saying like 1950s, where it was just like um it had like those metal rods, and then it's just like the it was wood, like it looks like a sleigh, but it's just like it's like a flatbed, basically, and it's wood. Yeah, and then that, so it's basically that, and skeleton, so there's two different versions. So there's skeleton, and I forgot what the other one's called, but skeleton is instead of laying on your back and you're going down so your feet are first going down the hill, skeleton is you're on your stomach and you're face first.

Scott

What?

Graham

Yeah, on your stomach, face first, 70 miles an hour. No, I'm good. I'm not telling you to do it, I'm just saying, like, yeah, I know. That's pretty gangster. I mean, uh, so yeah, watching those Luge, maybe I think it's called. I don't luge, I think it's when you're on your back.

Scott

Yeah.

Graham

Um, but look, a lot of the Olympic stuff is I mean, look, because of the

Morikawa’s Win, Wind Chaos, And 18th-Hole Adventures

Graham

time and me being on the on the West Coast, it's just re-watching stuff and just catching it on YouTube. So I'm just watching like what the US does. And look, there what for as dominant as the US United States is during the summertime, what happened was in the winter time, we're okay, but we're not near the top. Like, usually it's like Netherlands and you know, all those European countries that you know that's where they thrive. And for us, we've taken medals in some sports that I I mean, we uh cross country. The guy who took it was either bronze or or silver was the first time that they've ever or sorry, the second time that they've ever meddled in that sport. Um what else was I watching? You know, the bobsled, um, even like the downhill slalom, you know, like the Lindsay Vaughn, the girl that won. Oh yeah, it's you know, it's just and also there's a lot of all there's a lot of obscure stuff that you don't realize are still Olympic sports that you're just like, oh like I saw something on YouTube the other day. Did you know there's a sport called Olympic ski dancing in the 80s and 90s? There's people literally on skis and they're going down like this hill, like it's the it's not a steep hill, but they're like like they're not doing a gym uh like a shimmy, but like they're doing little flips and doing stuff. I'm like, what the hell is this? It was pretty gangster. I'm like, they don't they stopped doing it. I don't know how long ago, probably 20 years ago, but I'm like that's pretty sick. I like it. So I mean you know, look, this is the time you're watching it.

Scott

Anyhow, going into hockey, United States, we've won all our games so far. We don't play again until Wednesday. Yeah, we're 3-0-0, Canada's 3-0-0. We all know those two teams are the Canada was the favorite to win. Yeah, they were like plus 150, and I think United States was like plus 210. So it was pretty close, right? Uh so we don't play again until Wednesday, and we play the winner of wait for it. Latvia and Sweden. So we play the winner of that. Uh where's the other ones? Who does Canada play? Uh oh, nice burp. You like that? Slovakia play or Canada plays the winner of Italy and Switzerland. Oh, that's gonna be a real barn burner. I mean, they what the hell they beat who they beat, they beat France today 10-2. Ugh. I mean, come on. But anyhow, we're gonna win the gold. We're gonna win gold.

Graham

We're due. We haven't won it in a while.

Scott

Well, wait, NHL players haven't played in the Olympics for I think 12 years. And after a homeboy from the Kings got hurt the other night, broke his leg and out for the year. I don't know what the NHL is gonna do going forward. I don't see it happening.

Graham

Wait, when if they thought have wait, hold on. How I I thought like I've been seeing Crosby and them play for Canada for X amount of years now.

Scott

That was in the Four Nations thing last year.

Graham

No, no, I thought in the Olympics, like prior, prior. He he has gold medals.

Scott

He's played in the Olympics before. Yeah, but I'm pretty sure last time NHL players have been allowed to play in the Olympics was 12 years ago.

Graham

Wow. Well, I mean I mean he's been on the penguins for 19 seasons, so yeah.

Scott

Hmm. Uh um, let's see, I'm looking it up right now.

Announcer

I believe you.

Scott

2014.

Announcer

Oh, wow.

Scott

Yeah. So I don't know. It sucks. But I I feel bad for TP because he loses an amazing player for the Kings.

Graham

Yeah.

Scott

You know, it's the same shit that happened last year with my boy Theodore for Canada and the Four Nations thing. But it is what it is, it's part of the sport, and all I know is, and you're gonna be like, here we go, everybody wait for it. My Vegas Knights are dominating in the Olympics. Stone's got some goals, Icel's got some goals, Hannafin's got a goal. I mean, let's go.

Graham

Jeez.

Scott

I'm just gonna say this. Austin Matthews, dude, the guy that everybody in Toronto gives shit to. Wow. My guy's been playing.

Graham

I mean, didn't he score like how many goals did he have the other year? Like 80 goals or something? Or what do you have?

Scott

Yeah, in regular season.

Graham

Still, you ain't a bum if you're scoring that often.

Scott

Like oh, TPI just asked him. The thing that sucks is we won't play Canada in the finals because we're on the same side of the bracket. That blows. Well, that blows.

Graham

Hey, we gotta plan one way or the other. We'll just wax their ass. Hopefully.

Scott

That sucks.

Graham

Hopefully in the semis.

Scott

Yeah, it blows. But anyhow. Another fun episode. We didn't even we were like, what are we gonna talk about? We talked about Rachel Mack Adams.

Graham

Who?

Scott

Moly moly moly. No, my cabin. Oh.

Graham

It was for how you pronounced her name. Jesus.

Scott

Rachel Mack Adams?

Graham

I thought it's it's it's Mac Adams or Mick Adams.

Scott

Mac Adams. You sure? Don't care. Okay. Mac Adams. Tomato, tomato. Don't care how you pronounce her name. She's hot. Shut up. But anyhow, Graham, get us out of here. I'm pretty excited eating.

Announcer

What?

Scott

I don't know. Never mind. Nothing.

Bad Beats, Side Bets, And Riviera Preview

Announcer

Nothing.

Scott

I'm just gonna leave it at that. And Dottie Pepper.

Graham

Call of the Year.

Scott

I don't even know what to say about it. Like I said, dude, we could have ended the podcast right there.

Graham

Is that the title of the episode today?

Scott

Facial? No, hey, hey, hey. Yeah, we might not want to call it that, but I think we can call it. I know what we can call it. We can call it Gym Nance. There you go.

Graham

There you go, Dottie. On that, Scott, it's always a pleasure doing the podcast with you. Had a blast. Hey, it ain't the NFL, but we're still having fun. Until next time, my friend. And as the best homie always says, boo bye.

Scott

Good night, friends. Good night, Dottie. You just became one of my favorite golf people ever. Jim Nance, everybody on this show knows you're my hero. You just stepped it up a notch. And on that note, Rachel Mack Adams, you're the hot chick of the week. We haven't had one of those in a while. But I'm just gonna leave everybody with this.
