Horse Mysteries Solved!
Holistic equine vet talks solutions to the "unsolveable" horse problems. Starting with why traditional treatments don't work. If you get to the primary cause, you can solve your horse's problem.Such as skin conditions, lameness, coughing, ulcers, suspensory issues, weird behavior, diarrhea and more. Also, training issues like not bending, tripping, lead swapping, wide on barrels, dropping rails over fences, and lots more fun stuff.
Horse Mysteries Solved!
Is your horse suffering from Fecal water syndrome? Here's How to FIX it.
Have you heard of Fecal Water Syndrome (FWS)? Also called Free Fecal Liquid or Water.
It's not fun.
Horses with FWS have normal fecal balls, and then this weird extra water.
So that water splashes everywhere, including the poor horse's legs and tail.
Simple cause and solution on today's Horse Mysteries Solved podcast.
Here's to clean butts. 🙂

Hmm, hi there, welcome friends, dr Renee Tucker here here with another episode of Horse Mystery Solved, and today I would like to talk about fecal water syndrome. This is also known as free fecal liquid or free fecal water. So we know it here mostly in the US as water drum. So we know it here mostly in the US as water drum. Now, this is totally different from chronic diarrhea. So if you're looking for answers to chronic diarrhea, that's not this podcast. Chronic diarrhea can be caused from many, many different primary problems, but free fecal water syndrome is just has one cause. So we're going to talk about that today. We're going to talk about what is it and what's causing it and how do we fix it. So if you don't know me, hi, I'm Dr Renee Tucker, equine holistic veterinarian for over 30 years, and here's the answers, because I like to solve horse mysteries. Here we go.
Renee:Okay, so what is fecal water syndrome? This is a really weird thing, guys. It's horses. They have normal formed feces, nice, beautiful, green, smelling, lovely feces and also this strange extra water. The water can come before the poop or during the poop or after the poop, but it's just because it's watery, quite watery, then it's everywhere. It's on the horse's poor butts on the tail, just everywhere that they happen to have the free water at. So you can imagine the barn and the stall and it's quite miserable, mostly for the people who are trying to keep their horse from getting skin scald and this type of thing. Many horses with fecal water syndrome, at least initially, don't show any other signs of discomfort. It's just this random water. Now some horses also may have skin irritation like a mess and they can lose weight and have poor condition. Sometimes they act a little discomfort, like maybe intestinal light colicky once in a while. But that's not that common, okay, that common Okay. So you have this bizarre this is really bizarre fecal, just normal poop with extra water. It can be just a little bit of dribbling or it can be like a lot, like a wave of water just comes out and it's just, oh, it's kind of miserable.
Renee:Now what is causing that? I just want to let you know right up front. Oh wait, I should tell you something, sorry. So people try to help with this in many ways. People use antibiotics and supplements and bagged feeds and all kind of trial and error things, and of course it's always good to try stuff, see if it helps. Well, sometimes anything works. It's crazy. Some people report results with many, many different things and then those many things sometimes stop working after a while. So that is indeed a mystery. So let me tell you what's really going on.
Renee:So it's really caused by microplastics. I don't know if you've heard it's kind of been in some of the news, I don't know where, but anyways, we have microplastics in our food, isn't that just lovely? Yes, it's in some of our food and therefore I'm positive it is in some of the horse's food. And of course I'm positive it is in some of the horse's food. And of course I'm talking bagged feeds and supplements. I don't know which ones. That's not what this is about, because you can't avoid these things Like microplastics.
Renee:You know they sound like small little bits of plastic, which they are, but they're so small that if you had a single layer of plastics right along the palm of your hand, you couldn't see them. You could only see microplastics with a microscope. They're so tiny. And here's the key these microplastics in our horses with fecal water syndrome have an affinity for the large intestine, so they don't just flush right on out, they instead stick to the large intestine, particularly the bottom or ventral parts of the large intestine and generally the last 10 to 20% of the large intestine, I think, because that's when the large intestine slows down to form the fecal balls that those mycoplastics can really stick in there. And to my knowledge there's no particular antidote per se, no particular thing that can fix it other than, yes, tbt, because they're this affinity that they have. It's like an electromagnetic affinity for these large intestines. So when there's enough microplastics kind of stuck in the large intestine, right where the fecal balls are being formed, and as the horses form the final fecal balls, they absorb all the rest of the water. So these microplastics are in the way and the horse just can't do it. So that generally is not uncomfortable for the horse. But after a while, with enough of these microplastics, yeah, stuff starts feeling uncomfortable, okay, so what we need to do then is disrupt this electromagnetic affinity that the microplastics have for the large intestines. Easy, right, of course. So you would do TBT that's Tucker BioKinetic Technique, energy work.
Renee:If you don't have a practitioner near you, then I do have a product yes, tbt revival product. I'll link the shop below and what that does is it gives the energy that's going to disrupt this affinity for the microplastics. That's all it's doing. It's like suddenly causing these electromagnetics to stop so it releases the microplastics and the horse can then actually poop those out as well. Now there's a little bit more than just microplastics. Okay, there's microplastics. Now that's irritating to the gut wall, so you're going to have some scar tissue, you're going to have some adhesions. There's other processes that will be going on. All of that is kind of included in the TBT Revival product, but I put on my website.
Renee:This is generally going to take three to four months on average of treating, because we can't do this all at once. By the time the horse is loaded with all these mycoplastics such that now you're showing the signs of fecal water syndrome. Guys, there's so many mycoplastics. If we pulled all of them out at once, my gosh, your horse would have so much diarrhea and so much colic and get dehydrated so fast. It would be a disaster and everyone would say hey, you know, renee, your stuff doesn't work. I'll be like well, technically it is working, but just way too fast. So it's designed to self-modulate and just do enough, a little bit at a time, to release the microplastics a little bit at a time and heal up the intestine a little bit at a time so it's comfortable for the horse. Now you would see results. Generally changes in about a week.
Renee:But please, if you do try this, keep using it. You need to want to get it all out. You would also like to, if at all possible, stop with the bagged feeds any bagged feeds. Ideally, get rid of supplements, okay, other than vitamins and minerals, the best source that you can. But we just want free choice, 24-7 available mixed species of hay, all different kinds. The more kinds the better. The more kinds of hay, the more kinds of microorganisms, the happier the gut. We do want to avoid rye and alfalfa.
Renee:I realize some people are stuck and that's what you got. Just do the best you can. Okay, your horse knows people are stuck and that's what you got. Just do the best you can. Okay, your horse knows you're trying and that's really what matters. But let's see, I think that might be about it. It's fairly straightforward. It's microplastics. They have an electromagnetic affinity for the large intestine. They are essentially blocking absorption of water. We get rid of microplastic slowly but surely and the intestine will heal itself up and the horse will be fine and that is all. So let me know if you have any questions and I'll talk to you guys next time. Thanks for watching.
