The Disco Hicks Show
From He Man Nostalgia To Modern Sports Debates
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A movie reboot, a league on the rise, and a championship that hit people right in the chest, all in one ride. We start by warming up with sports habits and nostalgia, from the World Cup chatter to childhood soccer stories that explain why certain games grab us and others do not. Then we jump straight into a detailed Masters of the Universe (2026) review, using the infamous 1987 version as the measuring stick and asking the only question that matters: did the new one actually earn the hype?
We get into performances and choices that work, like Jared Leto’s scene stealing Skeletor and Idris Elba bringing real weight to Man At Arms, plus the action and fight scenes that keep the movie moving. We also keep it honest about what missed, including the script, the forced dirty jokes, and the classic reboot problem of dragging a fantasy world back to Earth. From there, the conversation turns serious with the casting backlash, how racism shows up in fandom, and the history behind Sun Man, the Black superhero line created to fill a representation gap in action figures.
On the sports side, we lock in on the WNBA with Commissioner’s Cup talk, big game reactions, All Star voting, and why the league’s fundamentals and position basketball make it such a great watch right now. We also tackle the constant Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese narrative, the hate that comes with it, and why fans should focus on teams and matchups instead. Finally, we hit NBA and Detroit Pistons offseason questions, from Jalen Duren money to trade rumors, draft realities, and what a Knicks championship means for New York and for basketball culture.

Welcome And World Cup Check In
SPEAKER_00This is the Disco Hicks Show.
SPEAKER_03Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Disco Hicks Show, your podcast. DJ dropping the needle on another episode. I'm joined again with my boy Sean P. What up, man?
SPEAKER_01What's up, my brother? Back to another one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, man. I'm just trying to keep keep it current. One of the things I do want to talk about before we go on, start kicking it. Have you been watching the um the World Cup?
SPEAKER_01Man, I have not. I've been in and out a little bit. I did see um shout out to Shannon Sharp and their podcast. I did see them uh talking about how we've won two games in a row. So I guess we just beat uh we pay, was it Parroquo? Paraguay, I forget the name. And we just won two games in a row. I think that's something we hadn't done uh in previous World Cups around. But I love soccer, bro. So that's that's big on my big on my radar. So I will be tuning in.
SPEAKER_03I haven't watched it. I was just asking. So I just, man, um uh it's like it's like one of those sports like baseball, hockey, just those low-scoring sports. It's just it don't keep my attention. But I play it's fun playing it. I love playing the game soccer. I played when I was a kid. Did you uh you know about that Inkster league that we had, the Insta Soccer League?
SPEAKER_01Not at all. First time hearing about it.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, yeah, I was on the Inkster Raiders. Wow. Yeah, man, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh real football, huh?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um played against Woodson. It was like, you know, we had Woodson, had these others, other teams too. Because our ours was uh Inkster Raiders colors are gray and black, and Woodson had the light blue and white. I remember that because my cousin Mario was on Woodson and we Mario who Newell.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03And he and I always, man, we just friendly competition, but we uh it was bragging rice with the family, man. And every time we competed against each other, man, he would beat me, man. It was just so annoying, bro. Uh his teams just always used to be better. But I was I I was I felt that I was a better player in basketball and in soccer, but his teams uh typically would beat my teams, man.
SPEAKER_01Man, my first introduction with soccer was uh when I was married, my my wife at the time. Uh, we had introduced my oldest daughter, which is my second child, my oldest girl though. Uh we introduced her to it at like three. So I got involved with it then, and then my son went on to play a season uh for Wayne Memorial in uh high school. And that's when I kind of really just started like, hey, you know what, this is a I like this. Let me um chime in. So I do check it out quite a bit.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I love playing it on PlayStation, that's for sure.
Birthday Shout Outs And Tupac Note
SPEAKER_03Okay, uh, I was looking something up. All right, man. Today is uh we the day recording this, June 20th. So I want to give some birthday shout-outs, man, to the Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman. What up, though?
SPEAKER_01All right, happy birthday, Nicole.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Lana Richie, all night, love. All night. Uh John Goodman.
SPEAKER_01And happy birthday, good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Brian Wilson. Do you know John Taylor? John Taylor is the bassist from Duran Duran.
SPEAKER_01No, but I'm a fan of the group, so yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Hungry like the wolves. Yeah, and uh Arrol Flynn, man.
SPEAKER_01Errol Flynn. That's just uh do you remember that?
SPEAKER_03Do you remember that dance he used to do the Errol Flynn back in the street?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03I remember people was, I know I I was pronouncing him wrong, I was calling him Earl. His name is Errol.
SPEAKER_01Errol, yeah. Errol Flynn. Yeah, he's gonna be. Um and and you know, happy belated birthday to Tupac, bro. Oh, yeah, yeah. June 16th, bro.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
Why The 1987 Film Failed
SPEAKER_03Did you get a chance to uh see any movies? Uh, because I want to talk about that Master Universe. I'm just gonna touch on it if you had.
SPEAKER_01Man, I was gonna surprise you. I went and saw it uh two nights ago. I took the girls. Ah, check it out, man. So I'm ready.
SPEAKER_03Okay, do you um do you remember the 1987 movie? Massive universe?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so when this movie was, when they started talking about this movie's gonna come out, or they started filming it and all that, I was like, All right, I said it's no way in the world. I was like, I don't care what the product is, whatever the finished product is, I know 100% certainty that it was gonna be better than that piece of crap film that was in 1987, bro. Yeah, that movie was so bad that it grossed 17 million dollars worldwide in the 80s against a 22 million budget. It was so bad that the production budget leading to a heavy financial losses ultimately contributed to bankruptcy.
SPEAKER_01That was definitely a miss right there.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. Terrible, man. So when I this movie came out, I was and I think I went to see that movie with Punk and Darrell Hayes. I think he and I caught the okay caught the bus to the Dearborn Theater and that's my dog, man.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to D Hayes.
SPEAKER_03And uh, so yeah. And so now bring us up to June 5th, 2026.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Geraletto was Skeletor, and then he got Idris Alba was a man
2026 Movie Impressions And Performances
SPEAKER_03at arms. What do you think about this film? What did you think about it, man?
SPEAKER_01I liked it, man. Um I was it what I mean, it's one of my favorite cartoons ever. I had recently had started diving back into looking at the original cartoons. I loved it, man. Even I think Idris has his range is so good, man. Um, I was surprised that he played Man at Ours, but he pulled it on. He pulled it off, man. He did a really good job. Um, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, okay, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, so he he pulled it off. I I loved him um in his movie, took a took a beating in the beginning of it, but to face off with uh trap job, which was one of my favorite uh figurines. Do you got him in your collection?
SPEAKER_03I'm about to look back. Do I got trap job? No.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we gotta add trap jobs.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01He was my favorite, he was one of my favorite figurines um back then. So I I I loved it. Uh the girls loved it too, surprisingly, and we went late. Uh we went to the 10 o'clock show. So oh wow. We stayed up for the whole thing.
SPEAKER_03Uh was it a crowd?
SPEAKER_01Man, believe it or not, no, it was not. Uh, it was probably maybe four or five people in there. So I was kind of surprised, but it was late and it was like Thursday night.
SPEAKER_03So Okay. Um, you know, I like you said, I like see, but I would I before the cartoon came out, you know, I was collecting the figures. So I don't know if you remember, do you remember they used to have a had a little booklet with the each figure?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And so that's what I went by. That was that was the Master of the Universe canon for me. So when I looked at those books, the cartoon didn't match up with those books, man. And I'll because you know, essentially he, man, is pretty much Conan, but in a in a more richer society and you know, in a better high-tech society, is what I would say. Yeah, that's all it is. And and so in the books, he was kind of barbaric, but cartoons, of course, they cleaned it up, and he had like uh like a Superman personality where he, you know, he he was always wanting to give you lessons while he beating you down, whatever.
SPEAKER_01I I wasn't up on those uh magazines, not the He-Man or the Universe magazines coming out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, which probably yeah, so they I mean that you had to get the toys and it came with that. And so that was I was always then I didn't I watched the cartoon because it was all that it had, and I liked He-Man, but they didn't go by the comic books. That was you know, that was accompanied with the toy.
SPEAKER_01Where did you get your comic books from back then?
SPEAKER_03No, it was in the I'm gonna say it was with the it was with the action figure.
SPEAKER_01It was the action figure, okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it came with the action figure.
SPEAKER_01You're right. Because I bought uh I bought probably almost all of them.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
Idris Elba Backlash And Sun Man Story
SPEAKER_03My first one was Man at Arms. And funny that you say that about Idris, uh, when they uh when they announced the cast, it was so much pushback and blowback because he was black. Of course, and it was just so bad. And and like I tell people, if you want to know the heartbeat of this country, go into the comment sections. Just go in there and you go in there and read it, and you will see what the heartbeat of this country is. And I'm gonna tell you this it's racist. It is, it's always it's it's always been and it's continue to be racist. And you know, I ain't trying to get too deep in it, but it to me, it was like it was unnecessary because Idris is an accomplished, accomplished actor. And and whatever he's gonna do, he's gonna man, he's gonna make it gold or even platinum. That's just what he that's just what he does. And I was just like, why? I mean, like, man, oh yeah, I get it. Man at arms was just we grew up this way. And then, but the thing about it in the comics, man, he had no mustache. And then when the cartoon came out, he had a mustache. So they just it just changing them over time, yeah. And um, so I like it at like at the end of the day, it's a comic book, man. So who cares?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, do you know racism has been reborn uh in this country, uh, especially with the um current administration, but that's a whole nother podcast right there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and even with Masters of the Universe, Mattel or you know, there's the company that owned Master Universe.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And so um back in the day. Uh let's see, I'm about to look this up. Sun Man. Sun Man was created by a black lady. Her son had mass, she collect he collected Master of the Universe action figures. Okay, he went and told his mom that he he felt that he couldn't be a superhero because he was black. So that inspired this woman to start a company. And so she created, she created uh some man, and he's a black superhero. He's he's essentially the black he man.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03And um so yeah, she went on and did that, and and but the it looks like it far as physical, but the man, his face, he looks, it just looks, it's it's kind of whack. So that's why it didn't turn, that's why it didn't take off. But what you know, her intentions were right, and she did come out with a nice little line. So what they did uh eventually, they incorporated the Sun Man universe with the matching universe. So now they're one universe. So when you when you collect now, they updated Sun Man, which he's now he looks like a man, he's just like a he looks like Mark Michael the Archangel, man. That's how dope he is, man.
SPEAKER_01Okay. All right, dope. But uh I was I was surprised, not surprised, but maybe there because I didn't we didn't stay, you know, when you the credits roll and then normally there's always like a little bit after the credits to kind of let you know um if the movie is gonna, is it the end or will it be a sequel or something like that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And and is I think it was set up to where there will be a sequel.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh Merman, he wasn't in that one.
SPEAKER_03No, that's a lot of people's missing me at Merman. Okay. Yeah, I want to go. This lady, her name is um Wyla Eason.
SPEAKER_01Wila Eason?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03She started, she founded the toy company, All Mac Toys, in 1985.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_03In response to her, her son was three years old. And he said, he said, who realized he couldn't be a superhero because no action figure at the time looked like him. So yeah, she's how she discovered uh made manufactured all these toys. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm following her right now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So that's the backstory. That so that racism started even back then in '85. And now to come full circle back now, and then you cast an a an accomplished actor as one of the characters, and you get a blowback. Just crazy to me, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But you know what? Regardless of the racism, uh, man, that brother did a great job, man. He did a great job as Sergeant at Art. I mean, especially when you think about everything he's done up until this point, which is a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He pulled it off. Color or not, he
Cringe Humor Versus Great Action
SPEAKER_01pulled it off.
SPEAKER_03I didn't like, I didn't like the script. I man, the jokes, I didn't let I think I laughed at maybe one joke. Man, them jokes was terrible. And then it was like all the sexual indoors, man. Like, come on, man. Like, Ram Man, spoiler alert, you know, Ram Man, he rams people, talking about go give him some head.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I I did catch that. Uh yeah, I would you know what though I think about it is is this day and time, the writers in this day and time, man. I I mean, yeah, I I I think another thing when you talk about those uh the sections as far as uh the posts and different things like that. That's what people love nowadays, man. Um that that nasty humor. Um it's not my thing. I'm I'm old school. I I can get away with the clean stuff. Uh, but yeah, you're right. There there was some um there was uh quite a few things there that made me cringe just a little bit.
SPEAKER_03Especially with the fist, though. Talking about fisting people, I don't fist people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. At first I was like, wait a minute, I hope we're not going down that road.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, dog, come on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we went down that road.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So hopefully, my girls, even though they're teenagers, hopefully uh they have no idea what they were talking about.
SPEAKER_03Uh but I uh man, it's the action scenes were were on point. The fight scenes were really good. Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor. Every time he was on screen, I didn't want him to leave. He he just to me, he stole every scene he was in.
SPEAKER_01He was captivated. Yeah, he was captivated.
SPEAKER_03That part like uh the guy who played, see, that's what I'm saying. I'm I'm it's even with the cartoon, it's hard for me to swallow Prince Adam because Prince Adam was a part of the comic books. So, but all right, I'm going to I'm just gonna forget that. Okay, now we got Prince Adam. I didn't I didn't say, all right, I'm accepting the Prince Adam part. And but I don't like why everything gotta come to earth though, man. Why everything gotta be placed on earth? Can't we just stay in eternity?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I I'm with you on that. Like they kind of could have um that whole section. But I I will say this, I did like the beast man.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, he's my he's my favorite character.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he he came in hard, bro. So he had me on the edge of my seat. But yeah, I I I agree. Um, but you're right. Why everything gotta be based on Earth? I mean, it was even like that in Black Panther. We had to come back to Earth.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then tear it up, you know, come and tear it up and have people's reactions screaming, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01But you know, I I guess when you think about you go back old school with Godzilla, like that's just kind of been the thing. Just tear up this bad boy and then leave it and go somewhere else.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. Yeah, so I I I would what would you give it? I would give it a 6.5 out of 10.
SPEAKER_016.5? I'm gonna go one point higher. I I'm gonna go 7.5.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah. I mean there's a lot of room for improvement. Um, but yeah, I I I enjoyed it. I I thought it was pretty good. I would say for me, the biggest thing, and I always kind of try to remain conscious of this not to be Debbie Donna or anything, but based on what my daughters went through, like the the part where he lost his mom and his dad. Well, he lost his dad. I don't think his mother passed away in there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um for them, what they went through, uh those are always kind of like touching scenes uh for me and for them. So, but hey, we made it through and it was uh they they enjoyed it and I did too. That's good, that's good. All right, cool.
SPEAKER_03All right, man. Switching
WNBA Commissioner’s Cup And Big Games
SPEAKER_03gears, going to sports. The WNBA, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_03We got two teams playing in the um Commissioner's Cup. That would be the New York Liberty with 6-0 and cup play. Yeah, Las Vegas Aces 6-1 and cut play. Uh, did you watch that game last night? Because I did.
SPEAKER_01I sure did.
SPEAKER_03Oh, dude, it was so much, it was good basketball last night.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it was. Yes, it was.
SPEAKER_03Um let's see. Uh, yeah, the Mystics, man, they're up and coming, bro. They coming. Um, you got it.
SPEAKER_01They shocked me. They shocked me last night.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what uh Sonia Citron, she went for 16 points. And no girl, Kiki Irafin, man. Her.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I couldn't pronounce her name last night, uh, but man, that sister got busy last night.
SPEAKER_03Man, bro, they couldn't stop her. She went for 20 points. She was eight for eight for 14, six rebounds. Man, and uh what's the name? I noticed that, you know, because I told you what's the name. Uh, Sabrina Yonescu was my favorite player, and she just got back. She came back from injury.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03I think this was a third or fourth game back, and so she was off for seven games. So she's trying to get acclimated back into it. And I can tell uh her jumpers off. She was four for 13 last night. She played three minutes.
SPEAKER_01That always takes time.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, getting back in game shape.
SPEAKER_03And I think also uh Stewie, man, I think she's taking a step back. I'm I'm uh I noticed her last three years, her field goal percentage has declined.
SPEAKER_01Declining. Yeah. Wear and tear.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh two-point and three-point percent field goal percentages has gone down. But the game of the night for me was the Lynx against the Valkyrie, man. Oh my God, bro.
SPEAKER_01That was a great game. And you know what? What was crazy was um they just kept going up on them. Like I was like, man, hey, it was a 10-point lead here. Then they fight back, then you know, then they push the lead up again. Uh, but my second favorite player, um, the this the point guard.
SPEAKER_03Uh Olivia, Living Ma.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, that girl is got what is it? Ice she got ice water in her veins.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she's been here before. And uh she had an off-game last night. So that's it.
SPEAKER_01She did. She did. And that tell you how but even with the off game, um, and they man, she was throwing so many dimes that she left a lot of assists on the court last night.
SPEAKER_02Because they were missing mad buddies, bro. I was like, man, y'all missing these, man. She was giving it to you in your hand at the rim.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Ain't no way. She walked away with four assists last night. No way she should have had uh, she should have had at least 10 as many times as they uh they messed up on her passes last night. But she stepped up and she hit uh the two crucial crucial, uh well, they weren't crucial, but two free throws to put the game away last night. Uh, and I I love that these games are packed now, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and they should be. Yep, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01I'm loving that for them.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, my girl is my girl on the team is Courtney Williams. That's my girl, man. C Dub, man. I love C dub. She went for 21 points. She was she is six for sixteen. Oh, dawg. You see her blowing kisses to the crowd. Yeah. Yeah, that's my girl, dog. One half of the stud buds. The stud buds.
SPEAKER_01She went she went to work, man. Uh oh yeah. She had five assists too, so uh one still, she was she went to work. She went to work.
SPEAKER_03Uh, what what we won't see on the stat sheet with Olivia Miles is her defense against against uh Nanny uh Caitlin Chin. And um and and Veronica Burton. She was she was on them. And Veronica Burton can go. She was one for eight uh last night.
SPEAKER_01And then she shot terrible last night.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And uh I think as a team, they shot bad uh as a whole. Their three-pointer, they didn't really make that many three-pointers.
SPEAKER_03And that's what they do, and that's what they do, and they didn't do it last night.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01The young lady uh Williams, uh the four, she was going to work.
SPEAKER_03Oh, talking about Gabby, Gabby Williams?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, she's tough. I like her heart. She had 15 last night. She's six for 16. It was tough for her, but um, she had a lot of energy out there. She was trying to wheel them away in, but it just didn't happen.
SPEAKER_03Oh, bro. You know, today, man, fever against the dream at one o'clock. You could be busy, you could be busy, ain't you?
SPEAKER_01Man, I'm so mad. I'm recording it though. And I was upset because I thought I pushed record on the game the other night. And uh Angel, that's my my she's my favorite player. I just ordered me a shirt. I'm man, I'm about to get my W NBA gear up, bro.
SPEAKER_03Oh, me too. I got one, I got one Sabrina shirt, that's it, but I'm I'm going in the stock up.
SPEAKER_01I think I'm gonna I'm gonna take a trip to the ATL, visit some family, and go to a couple games before the season is over with.
SPEAKER_03Yep, I was on Facebook this morning and um somebody was talking about the game because the Fever and Dream played the other day.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_03And um they were saying, like, going into it, you know, because I always when you watch TV or on social media or whatever, and they always pitting Caitlin Clark against Andrew Reese. And this this guy made a post. He was like, I watched the game, and yes, both of those players contributed. He said, but they both have good teams. Why aren't they just not talking the fever against the dream?
SPEAKER_02Um, because it's not popular.
SPEAKER_03They like the division and all that crap. And it's like, man, both of the teams go, and I was happy because I was thinking that when she when whenever Angel Reese would do something like make a shot or make a good play, I thought maybe they would boo her. But they didn't, well, I couldn't hear it coming from the TV. I didn't hear the crowd in Indiana booing her. But uh I I was kind of pleased that that didn't go down like that, though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. And man, she had four fouls before halftime another night. So even though she had a really great game, um, she probably could have added, probably would have been lopsided had she not been in foul trouble. I'm I'm happy for her, man. Uh, because we talked about it on previous podcasts. It's a shame of the hate that she's getting, especially with uh people in our in our own culture. Yeah, yeah. But she's the only one in the WNBA averaging 15 and 12 rebounds right now.
SPEAKER_03And people disparage you like, oh, because she's doing the me bounds. And that's like, if it was that easy, everybody be doing it, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't, I, I've I've this year of sports, especially with the NBA, um the what do they call them? The the the couch players, whatever. No, I don't I barely pay attention to them guys anymore, man. Barely pay attention to them guys.
SPEAKER_03All right, man, I feel you, bro. I'm I'm pulling back slowly but surely. Some stuff I can see. This is Click Bay. Oh, this person trying to trigger somebody, so I just keep it going.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right. All right, man. The
All Star Voting And Media Narratives
SPEAKER_03first returns for the all-star voting for the W. So you got AJ Wilson leading the pack. Aja. Of course. And Paige Becker.
SPEAKER_01She's a beast too. I like her game.
SPEAKER_03Leah Boston is third. Breonna Stewart, Caitlin Clark, Jessica Shepard, man. People, y'all need to check this woman out. Jessica Shepherd. She's on the Dallas Wings. She. Dude, she's uh she's in the name. You got Aja Wilson, Olivia Miles, and you got Jessica Shepard are the names that that's floating around for MVP. Uh AJ Wilson is the front word, front runner, but Jessica Shepard is a beast.
SPEAKER_01Um they got the girl. Uh is it uh a Goomba Wallin. Yeah, she's good too, man.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01She played with a lot of tenacity, a lot of fire.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Yep. Um, yeah, so I was hoping that this year they're gonna start to jail because her shot, I think she was hurt. Her shot was off last year. Her shot started to come back because she she can almost be like a uh uh Klay Thompson type, where you just she don't even have to dribble, you just pass her, she just bow, bow, bow. She just woo, she went when she hot, bro. I don't I haven't seen any woman, and I hate to say gender like gender like that, but I've never seen when she got I can't remember, I think it was an all-star game or something. Okay, she got hot, and everybody just conceded and just allowed her and just gave her the ball every chance, and she was fire, man. And uh ever since then, that's that's where I became a fan of hers. Enrique Gumbawale. Okay, then you got Angel Reese. You you spoke about Gabby Williams, Olivia Miles, and then Kelsey Mitchell, round out the top 10 of the uh vote leading.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I I want to add what what I'm loving, because uh shout out to you, bro, because you really been like, man, you've been watching this, watching that, watching this. Yeah, so now I I because I love, I've always loved girl basketball, but I have been tuned out. But um last couple weeks, man, I've been tuning in. What I love about the WNBA is, and I seen a post where a guy said that the NBA needs to get back to position basketball.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_01That's what you got in the WNBA, and it's so it's such a better watch, man. Like the fundamentals, even though they're playing below the rim, you're not gonna get the dunks and stuff like that. But uh great picks being set. You got the the the the wide the the threes that you should be taking. Uh and you got you know people playing their position. You got real point guards, two guards, fours, and centers.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, yeah, that's uh that is a big issue with the league, man. And it was talking about the turnovers, and I think and you talk about that. Andrew Reese, man, and for hers, her her position, she turns the ball over too much because they they um depend on her passing. And and um even like Jalen Duran, he he as well going back to NBA. He man, he has a lot of he has a high turnover rate, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he does. Uh he he does. But uh I think the Pistons as a whole has a high turnover rate, and that has a lot to do with not having uh a traditional point guard or a good backup point guard uh coming off that bench there. Like when we had Schroeder, Schroeder helped us out a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, with cutting down on the turnovers and getting the team under control. Um so then we didn't have that this year. Dennis Jenkins was honestly, Marcus Sasser is a better point guard, uh, but he was dealing with a hip injury and he was kind of buried on the bench.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I just yeah, get everybody in their right position, man. Let the let the big person. Hey, it was funny because I was watching, what was that? I can't remember the game, but they called uh called one of the ladies a big fella. Yeah, give it to the big fella. I was like, oh should you be saying that? Yeah, you gotta watch what you said. No, call it the big fella. Yeah, buddy. Yeah, you know, and then that's the thing about this new NBA, they're trying to make it global. And so they take they took that positionless basketball from um overseas and all that.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I'm gonna blame I'm gonna blame the AAU circuit too. Okay, yeah, okay. Yeah, because they they they get these kids, man, and then if you're really good, but they don't they don't challenge these kids. I'm not gonna say all, but they don't challenge these kids to be best at their position. They just kind of let these kids do what they want to do.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, but they want everybody to be switchable and be uh play defense or whoever. You can, you know, that's why like, oh, this person, he can guard two through four and all that. Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03And that's what yeah, and then you got the all-star game affected by it. So it's just like, like, come on. And I and I understand that there were some, you know, you had players like uh, let me see. Uh I hate to I hate to call players out, man, but there were some players that made the all-star team because of their position, and there was a lack of uh competition in that position, like far as this center-wise. I can't think of these plays.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Can you think of any players that like you say it was questionable? Like, why would they, you know, when you go look back at the history, like, why did that person make the play uh all-star team? It's because of the uh position that he played, and and the position was like liked.
SPEAKER_01You have the idea though? Nah, you know, you're talking about in the NBA?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh well, I mean, this guy's an all-star, one of the greatest
Position Basketball And Turnover Problems
SPEAKER_01of all time, but like there was always kind of with Tim Duncan, is he a power forward? Is he a center? Um but no, I I think most of the guys that make the the NBA team, I mean, with an all-star team, they they pretty much deserve to be there. Now, the the starters, of course, they get voted in by the fans. And maybe Yao Main. I don't know if he would have been an actual star. I don't know if he was that great of a player.
SPEAKER_03You know what I think? I thought he was dope, man.
SPEAKER_01He was dope. I don't I will I think uh David Robinson was still around. Oh, okay. Um so I think there were some guys that he might have got uh chosen over to he was he was a very good basketball player.
SPEAKER_03Uh but he also had China, he also had China behind him because they they man, when they was voting, man, it was flooding it, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that that market is is is heartbeat.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, that's part of that too, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right, man. The draft what Thursday? The draft is uh June 23rd and the 24th.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I forgot it's coming up this week. Yeah, as well, next week, rather.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, uh, have you do you know the top prospects?
SPEAKER_01Uh uh the kid from BYU, the kid from uh Kansas Peterson, Dombanza is the kid. AJ Domanza. Him and and uh the Peterson from Kansas. Yeah, those are the top. I I mean, outside of those two guys, I mean there are a couple more guys, but yeah, Boozer, Cam Boozer, and Caleb Williams. Now, the Boozer kid, there were some talks about him going possibly going number one. I don't see him going number one over the Dombata kid. I I like Boozer's game. I just think the top two with Peterson and Dombonsa, I think they are franchise players.
SPEAKER_03Okay. What about Caleb Williams, Wilson and me? Did you see him play?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm I'm I'm not I'm not big on.
SPEAKER_03He he played for North Carolina. He's pretty good, man.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um the young boy, the young kid.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he was hurt toward the end of the year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was a freshman, right? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Uh oh, so he's he entering the draft? Yeah, man, he's top four, bro. They got he gonna be a he's going to be a dog. Mm-hmm. Uh, if he can stay healthy. Yeah. Kind of gave me the Kevin Garnett. Uh but he kind of he can he can handle the ball a little bit too. Um I don't, I mean, not a bad choice. I I could see I I would choose him over Boozer. He would be a longer project, but uh, I mean, he would have to work on his game more than Boozer a little bit more polished. Uh but yeah, I love his game too, bro.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Let's see, bro.
SPEAKER_03What about uh so then hey, you heard about our guys on the trading block. Stu.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Um, I I've had some deep conversations with guys this week about um Jalen Duran and what people are expecting. Uh you know, the kid is making, he got a $19 million deal. He's making $6 million a year. Um, for a kid like him, come from a single-parent household, I tried to find some information on like his dad. There's no information on his dad. So this is a kid that comes from a single-parent household. Uh, I'm not sure what their living circumstances was, but didn't come from a two-parent household like Jalen Brunson. A kid that left $100 million on the table. Yeah. Jalen Brunson doing that. He came from an established family. Dad played in the NBA, so money wasn't an issue. There's still 100 million is still a lot to walk away from. Jalen Duran to sign him, to ask him to take $30 million as disrespect, top 15 in the league. Uh, and
Draft Prospects And Pistons Trade Talk
SPEAKER_01his contemporaries, the guys that's on that third all NBA team, and uh Chet Holgram and Maxie, they got $200 million deals. Uh you're gonna have to give him that money. That makes B Stu expendable. I don't like it, but I'm okay with it because Paul Reid can take up that time and that space. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. That's man, bro, man. That what about um losing that enforcer though? How you feel about that?
SPEAKER_01I I think it's bad, man. I think it's bad, to be honest with you. I I really I I'm hoping that the the the um the organization doesn't pay attention to the fans. And there's no disrespect to the fans, but fans thrive off emotion and not logic when it comes to these situations. I don't think you really need to make no real big changes, man. If you could, if you could keep most of this team together and add a CJ or just a deadly shooter or something like that, um, and somehow maybe package some guys on the end of the bench, but keep this team together. 60 wins, man. Second round of the playoffs, uh, you don't need to do a whole lot of changing, man, in my opinion. So answer your question. I don't like losing stew. Yeah, I don't like that.
SPEAKER_03I just found out two players, Jamal McGlure and Tyrone Hill.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, Tyrone. Who could could forget? He was a rebound on the machine, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Man, but you when I you say his name, you don't think all-star, but he was all-star, and it was due to the lack of uh players that had position, and this was 94-95. But hey man, he I'm not taking it from him. I just know that people question it. Um, and Jamal McGlure as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, big time. The Kentucky guy. I think he went to Kentucky.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so yes, man, beef stew, man. So I guess the pit uh Pistons top prospects is just we'd talk about this and we'd be out of here. Uh Bennett Sturts from Iowa. What do you think about him? Did you keep up with him?
SPEAKER_01No, uh, I've heard a little bit about the kid. Um, I don't think we're gonna find what we need in the draft. Uh me personally, I I think that that um that draft pick should be packaged with something to somebody and go get something else. I I don't I don't know if there's a guy at 21 that can help impact our team. The the Lanier kid didn't do much for us. And he he we had games where we were blowing people out. Uh and he just wasn't that impactful. Now he did great in great in the G League, but he didn't take that step to me uh this year.
SPEAKER_03No, no. But man, it's just it's that's a lot to put on somebody. You know, we got players that come in and just tear the league up, and then some players it take a while for them to develop, and then once they get that get to that spot, then bam, there they go.
SPEAKER_01That's true.
SPEAKER_03Uh I don't know, man. Uh it's it's look like from where I'm hearing that they might move off of your boy and look for another shooter. Okay. He might look for another player that's maybe taller, does the same thing he does, but taller, and maybe uh maybe a better shooter.
SPEAKER_01But who do who do you like at 21 for us? First who we're looking at right now.
SPEAKER_03Uh man, that uh Cameron Carr, man, but I don't know if he's gonna be there, man.
SPEAKER_01Okay. You know, the guy from Baylor, you know, he's yeah, yeah, and I like his game.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I I I have seen him play a little bit.
SPEAKER_03And then they got another press. They got uh Alan Graves, power forward from Santa Clara. He's 6'9. He shot 41 from three. So I think either or, man, I don't know. I think I don't know what basic you know, they they need that stretch for, they need a starting four. So they they might look for that player to a trade and then find that other, the ball handler in the draft. So I don't know. They're gonna figure out I don't know which one which way they're gonna go, but it seemed like the whole league is waiting for the Giannis thing. They're waiting for that to see what the market looks like because you know we got these new rules for our trading. So uh after 27 or year to 20, was it not 29, you can't. I forgot the rules change at 29 or whatever. So I think these teams are trying to, for what it looks like now, your first round pick is very valuable. So teams are are are reluctant to give that up unless you got something bona fide and for sure.
SPEAKER_01Now, I will say this um the safe pick for me would be the the kid from Duke, uh, Isaiah Evans. Nice guy with like, you know, 15 points. Um, you know, he's and he's come because we need system players. We need guys that like being plugged in the system. There you go, Duke. Duke is a is a, you know, they're they're great uh for that. What I don't want to see, and what I've been hearing a lot of, which is is garbage to me, is a lot of these radio stations, they're big on Austin Rivers coming from LA. And just to show you the hypocrisy. Oh, you're talking about Reeves? Austin Reeves. No! They're talking about him. Now we're talking about a kid that is making 40, he's gonna possibly make 40 million a year. He sits in the shadows of LeBron James. Um, and they have no problems with giving this kid 40 million, but it's a problem to give Duran, who has gotten better every year. He just had a bad playoff. Yeah. So I don't, I don't, I don't want that for this squad. I uh he would come here and I I just don't see him doing well in this system. He could, but I I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_03I don't think he I don't think I don't think he personally even want to be here. So why even bring him out here?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You think about the guards he's gonna have to go against in the Eastern Conference, the Bains and them kids down in Atlanta, uh Boston, uh even the even the kids in Charlotte. Um the the back course, man, they're gonna they he would have a lot to deal with in the Eastern Conference.
SPEAKER_02So man, he's just turnstile.
SPEAKER_03True, what you're talking about, we saw what happened to Duncan Robinson, man. He's the same way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, agreed.
SPEAKER_03He's gonna get hunted out,
Targets Like Reaves Levine And Zion
SPEAKER_03and sometimes he might be unplayable, you know.
SPEAKER_01And no disrespect to the European players, uh, but history will show you in Detroit. Uh shout out to Duncan Robinson. He did really good um, you know, with us. Uh, but again, like there's a lot of um it's a lot of don't know's there. Um, but the foreign players and and and some of your American white players, they struggle in Detroit. They have struggled in Detroit uh in our system. Um so and it's no knock on those guys because there are some very good uh good ones in the league, but they struggle here, and that's what history has shown. So yeah, unless you're mimin'. Yeah. And you figure that was what 2004? Yeah. Two years ago.
SPEAKER_03And he was so good that we had they were look, they were confused, like, should we keep him or Rashid? No, we keep it Rashid. But he was, but he was that good though to wear his last.
SPEAKER_01And another thing I'd cut you off, if you if you if you if you go back and you pay attention, um, and this is no knock, but history will show this as well. Larry Brown just wasn't fond of uh foreign players.
SPEAKER_03Nah, man. He mismanaged them big time, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He just was he he was the right coach to get us there, but he was he he's not good in developing, like you said, uh the European players.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He just didn't know it, you know, because he was trying to make Darko Miller chick Bill Russell. Like, bro, he's not Bill Russell.
SPEAKER_01He's not him.
SPEAKER_03You know, look, he wanted to be more like Dirk.
SPEAKER_01I think he was disappointed in that draft pick. He really wanted it, all of us did. We wanted Carmelo Anthony.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Joe. Hey, look, the Trajan, please, man. I I know you got a relationship with New Orleans. I like Joe, man. Joe is, I mean, he he did he did good to our city and our and our team, man. But don't do no business with him, dog. Don't straight.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But here's the thing, though. Yeah. Unfortunately, Joe is a such a good guy. Yeah. Man, you're gonna be able to get you're gonna get a great deal. That's one thing for sure. Uh uh. I I'll say this. It's only it's only one deal I want to do with him.
SPEAKER_03Um boy.
SPEAKER_01Zion Williamson, man.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about the other dude.
SPEAKER_01No, I I don't care nothing about Trey Murphy. What they want for him, absolutely not. You can give us, I um what they want for Trey Murphy, I'll do for Zion.
SPEAKER_03What they asked it for?
SPEAKER_01Uh, for Trey Murphy, man, they they want to give, they want to do like Beast Do Holland, the 21, uh, the number one draft pick. I mean, uh our 21st draft pick. And it's either a future first round draft pick or another. It's just way too much. It's way too much for the kid.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so that's why, so that's why Trajan said what he said at the press conference, like, uh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Yep.
SPEAKER_03They got a plan and they're gonna stick with the plan.
SPEAKER_01Yep, yep, yep. And uh what I like about those Duke guys being from Michigan, um, in those roles, them guys are great. Management-wise, those guys are very, very good. He he's done a great job with them. So I I I think the the room for him to make mistakes is is he's created a lot of room to be able to make a mistake uh or two here and there, but he's done a great job. So I think he'll do well uh this offseason.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm starting to trust him. Um a lot better than the last one, man. Oh my god. I couldn't stand it. Every time I see his face, and then he got to the point, what's his name again? His name is uh escapes.
SPEAKER_01He's down in uh Troy Weaver. Troy Weaver, oh my god. Yeah, he's he's down with with Joe Dumas.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that makes sense. Both of them dude, look, man. I love Joe, but he set us back decades. You know what I'm saying? And then Troy Reaver, he man, he he messed up Ivy's head.
SPEAKER_01I mean, just yes, he did.
SPEAKER_03Oh, him and and and and Monty Williams, bro.
SPEAKER_01Now I will say this, bro. Go ahead. I will say, oh, Monty was, and I I wanted Monty not understanding his track record. Uh he was basically ran out of New Orleans and Phoenix, he had a championship in his hand, and but because of his mentality and attitude, it slipped away. Um and he has a bad rep, man, for um hurting players, man. Uh, you know, Ivy is an example. He did Ivy so bold. Um and even the kid that's in.
SPEAKER_03Ayton did Aiden, Aiden.
SPEAKER_01Aiden, he did Aiden bold, man. So when you got that kind of relationship as a coach with players, that's bad for your organization. And that that proved that that that played out here.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Yeah, it played out there too. Because uh E West, who lives in Arizona, he said, hey man, he did he did Aiden wrong. Even though Aiden didn't come through, but he said Aiden was a special player. He had he he had he needed a special person to reach out to him because every some some players need to be coddled, and he needed that. Williamson wasn't the wrong one, he was the wrong person for that job and lost him and lost the series.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Now, here's here's one big trade, bro, or one guy I would love to add to our team as long as it doesn't cost us a lot. And he's he's had some injuries, uh, but if we don't have to give up a lot to get him, uh Zach Levine.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I keep hearing this name.
SPEAKER_01He gives us that extra score that you you can't double team K with him on the floor. Yeah. Um, plus Mr. Bias.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But he's he's a veteran. He's been around a long time, he's been in some bad systems. But under I I just trust JB and his system.
SPEAKER_03So you think he'll he'll play, you think he'll play defense here? Because he's a turnstile too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because he would he because we have a brotherhood here. So uh I just think that once you get here, the guys here are so great, man, that you would you would buy into it.
Knicks Title Joy And What It Means
SPEAKER_01You're gonna buy into it, or you're gonna be the odd man out. And if you're the odd man out, trust me, you will be gone.
SPEAKER_03All right, man. You got anything else to say? Uh you want to talk about before we get up out of here?
SPEAKER_01Uh I just want to give that shout out to the New York Knicks for winning it all. We we both wanted them to win. Yes, yes. Um in the previous, in one of our previous podcasts, I said I hope that uh it would be a gentleman's suite because I didn't want them winning it in New York because I thought you see all of the drama that has gone down in New York. Uh, but one thing about New Yorkers, they don't care what you got to say about them. They're gonna do what they gotta do. So salute to them. Big salute to Mike Brown for his career uh in beating the Spurs, which he actually lost to the Spurs with uh LeBron James. That's what so shout out to him, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, man. Big ups to the Knicks. Salute to them. Uh I haven't been this happy for another team since I mean the Pistons. No, uh I was take that Golden State. I like Golden State.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I went and got me a Knicks shirt, bro.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I'm about to give me one, dude. Um, it seemed like the country is celebrating. I don't know about your timeline, but my algorithm is all Knicks. And bro, I I'm I'm I'm feeling like I'm this emotional person, and I'm just feeling the emotion, and I'm seeing all these people celebrate. Yeah, and I saw a side-to-side picture uh OKC's parade next to New York's. It's just crazy. I mean, I think it was like two million people in New York, man. That's yeah, and that's easy to do. We talk about a city that's like nine million people, so two million out on the street is easy to do. Uh, and they just love that team.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And and and I'm you know, and my one of my favorite TV shows is Law and Order SVU, and Marishka has a great relationship with Jalen Brunson. Yeah, and just seeing them together and her, her just whenever she talks about Jalen, she gets she gets emotional, tear up, and like he embodies this city, the grit and and the determination, and and and seeing all those, you you forget how much New York is in every household in America because hip hop, the movies, spikely, all of it, and even the Knicks, man, because one of the things I used to always complain about, uh, especially in the Christmas, NBA Christmas game, like even when the Knicks were crappy, why they keep showing the Knicks, man?
SPEAKER_02You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01They market. I I have a special relationship with New York. I had uh they're deceased now, but I had two uncles that played through every major venue as pianist through New York. Uh, I still have family there now. Uh I have a connection with the World Trade Center because I was in there the day before it went down. So I was there when uh 911 happened in 2001. You know, but uh again, I'm also uh uh you talking about the Lauren Order lady. Uh the the special video that uh Brunson had with Monica McNutt. I love her. Oh, yes, man. That was wonderful. Oh so yeah, big shout out to them, man.
SPEAKER_03Did you see, did you see her reaction when they when she was calling the game when they won? How she just was yeah, man. I I'm just talking about I got I got goosebumps because she was just I know her. I I follow Monica and like she loves the Knicks. And this and I and I know where she is because when the Pistons won in the 2004, I was like how she was, and me and Eric West sat in the we sat dude. I was like, I don't know, I don't know when I'll be able to experience this again, so I'm just gonna soak it up. And I sat in my seat, bro, and I'm and I'm not I'm not exaggerating, it was three people and the whole uh the whole court. Uh it was just me, Eric, and a janitor.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03To where when we got out, was nobody outside, man. It was like, but I was just like, man, I can't, I just want to just just take this all in.
SPEAKER_01And that's dope.
SPEAKER_03And processing.
SPEAKER_01Great memory.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And uh great memory. And so when I saw Monica give her response, I'm like, oh, she's there. I know I've been there before. And then later on, and I like how you know she was interviewing Brunson. And Brunson's like, You swifties, give my girl a break.
SPEAKER_01She's a good one, yeah.
SPEAKER_03She's a good one. Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I absolutely love her, man.
SPEAKER_03Like, she is Yeah, she's one of my favorites, man.
SPEAKER_01I mean, she is man, I'm talking about her personality, the way she carries herself. Um, uh look-wise, she's a beautiful woman. She's married, so no disrespect to her husband. Yeah, right. But she is an incredible woman, man, and it speaks volumes. I love listening to her commentary. Um, so yeah, I was very happy for her and just all of the New York fans in the state of New York. Yeah, like Spike Lee, man. My dog.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and Spike Lee, and all of you know, Spike Lee, when he uh makes his movie, he he he keeps the same family of actors, and so all of those people are around surrounding him, the John Totoro's and all those people like that was in Do the Right Thing and all that, man. And just watch every actor that I've seen on TV throughout the years in the offseason, just they constantly wear Knit gear. And the fact that they finally get that chip, and I and I'm man, I am genuinely happy for all the New Yorkers and all the people that root for them. And because to me, man, it seemed like America, besides, you know, maybe some Boston and Philly people, they might not like this championship, but people are loving this championship, man. It's like uh like they're America's team right now. And I will say this, man, if if our team don't make it there, I want them to repeat. I want to re I want to I want to see a repeat of somebody. And I and I know we got this parody era, we haven't seen anybody repeat since the Warriors.
SPEAKER_01The Warriors, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I don't like to see a team just be that beast where we I want to see them get knocked out. Like, who go who gonna knock them off the pedestal?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I could see I wouldn't want this, but I would be okay with it. But us versus them in the Eastern Conference Finals, uh a drag out, beat out seven-game series with uh maybe a one-point win in game seven, and that the Knicks go back and win it, uh repeat.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because uh I would say this if it wasn't for injuries, man, but we might be talking about OKC again, bro.
SPEAKER_01That is true. That is true. Yeah, that Jay Will injury, uh, hamstrings hurt a lot of people this year. One thing about them hamstrings, it ain't the only thing that helped a hamstring is rest.
SPEAKER_03Who has that Mitchell too was hurt, right? Was it Mitchell?
SPEAKER_01Mitchell had the broken finger. Yeah. Yes. He played well with that broken finger, but he missed a lot of dunks. Uh well, you know, some shots close to the room. You could tell it affected him a little bit. And uh we were talking earlier about the racism in this country. Um a predominantly black team with a black coach, and we faced off against a black coach. Another, I mean, we the Knicks faced off us. So we're two black coaches in the uh in the playoffs in the championship. But that that Knicks team is a predominantly black uh black team, man. Yeah, they carried itself well. All of them are their class X, man. Everybody. Um Brunson, Hart, uh the Big Fellow, uh Kat and A. G and Anobi. Yeah. Had it not been for Brunson's 45-point closeout game, yeah. He should have been the uh MVP because he had a solid championship uh series.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. It was funny because I think uh at the game two, they were saying cat, then it was saying OG, and then Brunson, like, hey man, it's mine. Yeah, you know, I love that he had took over, and I love how humble he is. And also, like he said, look, at the uh at the parade, he's like, man, all those people said all that stuff about us, like, but you know, when you when you prove him wrong, you ain't gotta say S. You ain't gotta say nothing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Kat, go ahead and uh y'all go and make uh you and Jordan make that that that wedding official, man. Go make her your wife.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, buddy. Yeah, do not.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right, y'all, man.
