In this episode I list out a ton of basic supplies you should be stocking up on now that may not be readily available if a disaster or emergency happens.

Homesteading Supplies You Should Stock Up On

Our world can be a place of real uncertainty sometimes, especially with all that has happened in the past 5 or so years. Epidemics, recessions, etc... have left us feeling worried about being prepared for whatever is to come.

But we can take steps to have on hand the things we may need no matter what situation arises. So today, I am going to give you a list of some of the supplies you should stock up on for your homestead or farm.

Hi and welcome back to the Prepping Positively Podcast. I’m Annie and today we are talking about the items you should start saving for your homestead to make an emergency situation a bit easier.

All of the items I am going to mention today are items that are common for you to have in your arsenal and can usually be found very easily right now.

Keep in mind, though, that these items may not be so readily available if an emergency situation comes about. Therefore it is better to stock up on them now.

Let’s start with something I never seem to have enough of in my home. That’s batteries. Batteries are needed for many things so start stocking up on them now. All sizes too. AAA’s, AA’s C’s, D’s, those 9volt’s,, and any special battery packs for flashlights, emergency radios and such too.

You may want to have an extra battery on hand for things like you car or equipment you may own. You never know when you will need it.

Be aware that batteries do lose their lifespan so be sure to check that when purchasing the expensive batteries.

Also consider a battery charger too.

Next on the list is propane, gasoline, or charcoal. Whether these are for a grill, a vehicle or otherwise, having extra never hurts. I use a propane tank for not only our gas grill but for my oven. I always keep an extra 100 lb tank on hand.

We also keep extra gas cans filled for the car and equipment. And charcoal is affordable and helps if you have to cook out side in an emergency.

Speaking of cooking, you may want to keep those mini propane cans like the ones used for camping stoves.

Wood and fire starters should also be in your arsenal, along with waterproof matches, and extra lighters.

When the lights go out we need to see. Solar lights, oil lamps, and flashlights are all supplies to help with power outages.

Candles can be a big help if used safely. Even a large can of crisco can be turned into an emergency candle. You can check my website at https:// roadtoreliance.com/diy-candles/ for more information on those.

Having bleach on hand can help with cleaning. I also recommend keeping extra white vinegar too.

Soaps and personal care items are a must so stock up on shampoo, soap bars, toothpaste and deodorant.

Toilet paper! We all remember the panic over tp when Covid was happening! Don’t get stuck again.

You may want to have a few other supplies on hand like tarps, rope, string or twine, and zip ties.

Do you have an emergency kit or a first aid kit ready. You can find instructions on both of these on my website also.

And don’t forget about your animals. You may want to stock up on feed, or hay. Blankets and towels may be needed and make sure you have a first aid kit for those animals too.

Now I am sure their are hundreds of other things you may come up with, however, this list gives you a good basic list to get started with.
