Speaker 1:

When you first step into healthcare technology management, it feels like stepping into a whole new world. It's life-changing Doors open, opportunities show up and you can feel the purpose in what you do. You're keeping equipment alive so patients can stay alive. That's no small thing. But here's the truth about HTM After a few years the shine can wear off. It can start to feel like HTM isn't good to you anymore. But the deeper truth it's not that HTM stopped being good to you. It's that somewhere along the line you stopped being good to HTM.

Speaker 1:

See, in this industry and in life you only get out what you put in. If you give HTM half-hearted effort, don't expect more than a half-hearted blessing. That's the deal. But here's the kicker deal. But here's the kicker. You can pour 20 strong years into this field and still feel like someone else who put in half the time, with half the effort ending up ahead of you.

Speaker 1:

That's when the comparison trap shows up. You look at someone else's journey and start asking why them? Why not me? I've been there. I was that younger tech asking why won't anybody give me a shot? Why does nobody have my back? It took me decades to realize something powerful You've got to have your own back. You can't wait for HTM to hand you everything. You bring your best, day after day and you let the industry return to you what you've truly earned. You let the industry return to you what you've truly earned. And let's be honest Sometimes what you think you deserve isn't what you actually need. So you can get that promotion and the so-called dream job, but it might turn into the worst job ever. With more responsibility comes more accountability.

Speaker 1:

Leadership isn't just about titles. It's about people. Do you pour into your colleagues? Do you help them succeed? Because if you don't, how can you really say you're ready to lead?

Speaker 1:

Leadership isn't telling people what to do. It's nurturing careers. It's not just pointing out what they're doing wrong. It's showing them how to do it right, then cheering them on when they succeed. That's leadership. See, you might want that promotion, the recognition, the raise right now, but timing matters, family matters, capacity matters. You might not be ready for what you think you're ready for. You might not be ready for what you think you're ready for, and sometimes the blessing is that you didn't get what you wanted in that moment because life was protecting you from something you couldn't yet handle.

Speaker 1:

So here's the real truth about HTM. This industry isn't perfect, but it will give back to you when you give your best to it. Stop comparing your path to someone else's and start doubling down on your own. Remember what you go through, you grow through. If you're feeling overlooked, underappreciated, are stuck, don't give up. Don't lose heart. If you're feeling overlooked, underappreciated or stuck, don't give up. Don't lose heart. Keep showing up with full effort, because HTM still needs people like you. And when you stay faithful to the process, you'll discover that HTM has been faithful to you all along.
