Welcome to: The Unlucky Ones! This is our Podcast and I am your Dungeon Master Phil. First and foremost thanks for checking us out and giving us a listen. I hope you enjoy what we are bringing to the table. I am joined with my good friends Ski, Ted, and Nick as my players and this campaign is called The Great New Haven. This is a D&D 5E homebrew game mixing mechanics and lore from some of my favorite systems we have ran over the years.
The Setting is based in an alternate history of our world from the 1960s onward. A few weeks before June 1962 our world was plagued by prophetic dreams of a great time of strife, war, and magic. Soon after a major cataclysmic event shook the planet. Massive amounts of radiation surged into our world as landmasses and cities were replaced by others from another world. This Radiation came to be known as Mana, a great new source of power. Those cities and landmarks brought with them the races, monsters, and treasures you would find in the lands of Faerun. This was called the Extra Dimensional Event or more commonly referred to as EDE. The Decades afterward were riddled with conflict and unrest until a collection of treaties and land agreements were signed calling for ‘Safe Haven’ for all displaced by EDE. These Safe Haven Accords led to the creation of The Greater New Haven, a province which now takes up the area of top of Illinois down to the bottom of Ohio stretching to the east coast and up to Main. Many flocked here in hopes of finding prosperity and peace after the War of the Three Screams. This pilgrimage resulted in Haven City to be built by collaborative measures led by the Dwarves. The High Elven Council then formed a set of laws regulating magical items, potions, and spells. The Gnomes created a new banking system that allowed conversion of a variety of currencies to under the new Glitter Bills. Humans from all walks of life and other races filled in and joined these endeavors. For a time there was peace and prosperity. Our story begins with an economic downward spiral that has sent Haven city into collective poverty and despair. Our players are doing their best to keep order, make a living, and survive!
