[00:00:00] Allie: Welcome back for the second time to conspiracy. Happy hour. I'm all.
[00:00:05] Dann: I am once again still, Dan
[00:00:07] Allie: So obviously you have no idea at this point, but, we just got through about, I don't know, five minutes of recording. We did all the introductions and then shit got real and the microphone came unplugged. I couldn't hear him. He couldn't hear me.
[00:00:21] Allie: It was mess. So we're starting over again
[00:00:23] Dann: Yep. We stopped the recording. We couldn't start it again.
[00:00:26] Allie: I am not gonna touch anything this time cause I fucked it all up last time. So, but yes, conspiracy happy hour. We're on episode 19 at this point. our next episode is another guest episode. It'll be our fourth guest episode so far. So our guest has lined up, he's ready to go.
[00:00:42] Allie: He's still choosing us conspiracies, but I think we'll be fine. We have like three weeks.
[00:00:48] Dann: Yeah. Hopefully.
[00:00:49] Allie: Yeah. Hopefully he hasn't cancel on us again.
[00:00:52] Dann: Oh no. Takes these Backies.
[00:00:54] Allie: Mm-hmm.
[00:00:55] Dann: Well, we know where we know where he lives.
[00:00:58] Allie: yeah. Upstairs [00:01:00] So, in true conspiracy, happy hour, I actually have vodka this time just so
[00:01:08] Dann: Me too.
[00:01:09] Allie: to spend a Sunday night
[00:01:10] Dann: no. Wait, where's my camera? I'm gonna be burping. I'm sorry. Fugo.
[00:01:14] Allie: is it spicy?
[00:01:16] Dann: No, it's just Fugo.
[00:01:19] Allie: which means hot.
[00:01:21] Dann: Yeah, it's good though. Thankfully. This is cold Uhhuh.
[00:01:24] Allie: I know. But there's, the brewery near us has like a, what's it? Hot watermelon, habanero.
[00:01:30] Dann: Oh,
[00:01:31] Allie: really, really good, flavor for a beer I enjoy and it's got the kick in the back of the throat too, which I enjoy. So,
[00:01:37] Dann: that's good. I've had watermelon beer before and I've never been too much of a fan of it, but I haven't tried
[00:01:42] Allie: I like this. Yeah, I like the spiciness of it, so definitely gonna have to add that one again. There's another brewery in the area that I think is coming out with a pineapple habanero flavor, so that one I wanna try as well, but, well, I feel like I was gonna say something and now I can't remember, so I'm just like bullshitting for the time, being [00:02:00] Oh, I remember what I was gonna say. For everybody who is not subscribed to our Instagram, first of all, what are you waiting for? Like, hop on the bandwagon just for all us for at conspiracy. Happy hour, but we just hit a thousand downloads yesterday. So we are so excited about that. thank you guys, everybody who has listened at all.
we appreciate every single one of you, every single download. and we hope you're liking what you're hearing.
[00:02:29] Dann: Yeah, I know we were, but the last time we recorded we were like a hundred away and we're like, oh, we'll get it at the next one. And we didn't even start recording the next one.
[00:02:38] Allie: we serve past it really quickly. I think, the other day we. a lot of downloads from what we're used to in the one day, so it was really nice to see.
[00:02:48] Dann: it was, it just, it makes us feel happy that it makes you guys feel happy.
[00:02:52] Allie: Yeah. Dan, I love your, where'd you get your blue headphones?
[00:02:55] Dann: They're gray.
[00:02:57] Allie: What?
[00:02:58] Dann: They're gray.
[00:02:59] Allie: They're [00:03:00] blue on this screen. They look like blue.
[00:03:03] Dann: Yeah, they're actually gray, but they're the ones that
[00:03:05] Dann: I like them. Oh, okay. Do you have a up, do you have a I don't know how I did that.
[00:03:10] Allie: I don't either, but I like it.
[00:03:12] Dann: Me too.
[00:03:13] Allie: surprised me a little bit. I was like, wait,
[00:03:15] Dann: I thought it was gonna replace the ticker at the bottom, but it just to it.
[00:03:19] Allie: we got two now.
[00:03:20] Dann: I know we got two
[00:03:21] Allie: I mean, at this point when we're recording, we have our next, happy hour, virtual happy hour coming up on. Well, yeah, but by the time this is actually posted,
[00:03:33] Dann: Yeah. By the time
[00:03:34] Allie: have been like last week.
[00:03:35] Dann: this has come, come out, yeah. You will miss our, meet us telling you to sign up for our Patreon so
[00:03:41] Allie: Yeah, I keep, like the timing always throws me off on this cuz we're either way ahead of time or we're way early or whatever,
[00:03:48] Dann: Yeah. And it doesn't help. February is a short month
[00:03:51] Allie: it's, oh my
[00:03:51] Dann: cuz I can't believe that the, it's over next week, so.
[00:03:55] Allie: It's not leap year, is it?
[00:03:57] Dann: Hmm.
[00:03:57] Allie: I don't think so.
[00:03:59] Dann: I don.[00:04:00]
[00:04:00] Allie: I don't pay
[00:04:00] Dann: I don't think so. I don't think so.
[00:04:03] Allie: I don't think so either. But you never know.
[00:04:04] Dann: That'd be cool if it was. It's not. The calendar only says 28 days, so.
[00:04:09] Allie: Okay, that works then.
[00:04:10] Dann: Oh, we're, shoot, we're safe
[00:04:13] Allie: So shall we get into our, Mandela effect?
[00:04:17] Dann: I do. And I hear you have one that we both might not know, so I'm ready.
[00:04:22] Allie: Well, here's the problem, because it's not from our normal site. I did have to look it up ahead of time in order to figure out what the right answer was. So I will let you guess this.
[00:04:34] Dann: Okay,
[00:04:34] Allie: I'll be honest, I probably would've guessed right, but even still,
[00:04:42] Dann: Okay.
[00:04:43] Allie: we'll see what you think. Okay, so Captain Crunch.
[00:04:48] Dann: I love
[00:04:48] Allie: What I so good. The peanut butter
[00:04:51] Dann: Yeah, the peanut butter one.
[00:04:53] Allie: It's my favorite. you cut your mouth sometimes though when you eat it, but
[00:04:56] Dann: Yeah, but it's so good.
[00:04:57] Allie: The milk, the milk becomes this like [00:05:00] creamy like sugar. Oh, so good. Anyways,
[00:05:02] Dann: Wait, I
[00:05:03] Allie: what, what is the, the real captain you remember? First of all, do you spot the difference?
[00:05:10] Dann: I was just one trying to figure out what the difference is. Oh, he has eyebrows.
[00:05:15] Allie: One is eyebrows, one does not.
[00:05:17] Dann: It was like the jacket's the same,
[00:05:19] Allie: I know it took me a minute.
[00:05:21] Dann: Um Hmm hmm. He looks really weird without eyebrows. So I kind of wanna say eyebrows is the real one.
[00:05:29] Allie: Okay.
[00:05:29] Dann: Now I'm doubting myself. Yes. Final answer, Al eyebrow. I'll final answer.
[00:05:34] Allie: that that is correct.
[00:05:35] Dann: Okay. Shoot.
[00:05:36] Allie: eyebrows now. I did look, see, believe it or not, that's not even the Mendela effect, even though to me it is sort of. the real one. Is it like, and I don't have a good picture as an example, cuz people will not make the box the right the wrong way, but is it Captain Crunch or Captain Crunch?
[00:05:55] Dann: Ooh. I think it's Capin, right?
[00:05:58] Allie: Yeah. Hyphenated, well not [00:06:00] hyphenated, but just like short and
[00:06:01] Dann: Yeah. Not spelled out.
[00:06:03] Allie: Which, That again does look right to me. And the more that I was looking into this one, the more I was noticing some other cereal Mandela effects that I'm like we can use for next time. I think there's like two or three of 'em that we haven't done yet.
[00:06:18] Dann: and we thought we were running out of ideas.
[00:06:21] Allie: I know, right? I don't think we're ever gonna run out of ideas. They may not be as basic as like the Bernstein Bear ones. We might have to do a little bit more research to find some original ones. but I think we're, I don't think we're ever gonna run out of ideas. So shall we get into it? Do we do our rock paper?
[00:06:38] Allie: Scissor?
[00:06:38] Dann: Yeah,
[00:06:39] Allie: Okay. Ready? Rock papers. , you look like you wanna kill me. Wait a minute.
[00:06:45] Dann: I think we're delayed
[00:06:46] Allie: Okay. I was like, . I put my up first and then you figured
[00:06:49] Dann: Okay. How about we'll do it and we won't look, we won't look like, close your eyes.
[00:06:53] Allie: okay.
[00:06:54] Dann: And then, and then we'll do, we'll, we'll do
[00:06:57] Allie: Rock paper, scissor, shoot. And then
[00:06:59] Dann: and then 1, 2, [00:07:00] 3, and then we'll look.
[00:07:01] Allie: Alright, so we starting
[00:07:02] Dann: we're starting from scratch. Yeah.
[00:07:04] Allie: Okay. Ready?
[00:07:05] Dann: Yeah.
[00:07:06] Allie: Rock
[00:07:06] Dann: Paper, scissors, shoot.
[00:07:08] Allie: One, two.
[00:07:11] Dann: Oh, I did paper. Okay.
[00:07:13] Allie: Okay. Okay. Ready?
[00:07:14] Dann: Ready?
[00:07:15] Allie: we make this so difficult. Rock, paper, scissor, shoot. Oh, okay. Okay. You got it.
[00:07:22] Dann: Okay. We have
[00:07:23] Allie: That, that actually might work out because when we, when we go to record for our Patreon, it'll kind of flow into it,
[00:07:30] Dann: Mm-hmm. . so mine is a conspiracy.
[00:07:34] Allie: okay.
[00:07:34] Dann: It's one I've never heard of before and it involves a country
[00:07:40] Allie: Interesting. Okay.
[00:07:41] Dann: it is. involves the country of Finland to be precise. So I'll just dive right into it.
[00:07:46] Allie: Yeah. I'm like, still have me lost,
[00:07:48] Dann: Yeah, . Yeah. So the Finland conspiracy states that Finland is not a real country, not, not only is it not a real country, but there is actually no [00:08:00] land mass there at all.
[00:08:01] Dann: And the space between Sweden and Russia is actually an empty ocean. And that's the picture I have for you. So this is what this conspiracy is saying is Finland,
[00:08:14] Allie: I'm actually really intrigued on how this one's gonna play because I feel like, I, I don't know. I just wanna hear what you have to say about this one.
[00:08:22] Dann: so, so this is the map of what they believe is actually here. So like this outline, there's calling an ocean, but it's Sweden.
[00:08:34] Allie: Everybody who's ever flown to Sweden's, probably like I'm calling bullshit
[00:08:38] Dann: there's no water there. Finland was first created sometime during the Cold War between Russia and the West. It was also around this time that environmentalism and the idea of preserving our planet was really taking off. And it is due to both of those things that the two of the main players in Finland Conspiracy came to work closely [00:09:00] with each other.
[00:09:00] Dann: Russia and Japan, . So Randall, so the Japan Soviet relations had always been shaky at best, but also incredibly secretive. Even as early as 1925, Japan and the Soviet Union had secret deals with each other regarding fishing rights between the two countries. With the Soviet Union giving up much of its fishing rights to Japan with seemingly no explanation as to.
[00:09:29] Dann: these secretive treaties and alliances continued right un up until just before the fall of the Soviet Union go Gov . I don't know what that
he is like their Russian president, whatever they have over there.
[00:09:45] Dann: he, he made trips to Japan months before the fall of the Soviet Union stating the entire time. , how the relations between them were improving even when Soviet relations with the rest of the world were worsening. I also thought this is [00:10:00] very timely
[00:10:00] Allie: Mm-hmm.
[00:10:02] Dann: In fact, the entire past 100 years of Japanese Russian relations bring up many unanswered questions.
[00:10:10] Dann: Why at the height of World War II were the battles between these two countries minimal, despite being on opposite. Why did Japan sign a peace treaty with Russia in 1941? Ju, just months before their allies, Germany went to war with Russia. Why were relations between Japan and Russia always good throughout the Cold War?
[00:10:32] Dann: Despite the major geopolitical differences between the countries and close geographical positions that you think would cause tensions cuz they're right next to each other. The answer is simple. They shared a common secret, a common asset that worked in both of their favors and that asset was Finland,
[00:10:55] Allie: Okay. So they're both supposed to know about the Secret, but they just,
[00:10:59] Dann: [00:11:00] They're the perpetrators, or whatever you, that word is, no, it's not perpetrators, but whatever.
[00:11:05] Allie: don't know what you're trying to say. That
[00:11:07] Dann: they're the ones spreading the conspiracy
[00:11:09] Allie: Okay.
[00:11:10] Dann: because they, cuz they want Finland
[00:11:12] Allie: they started it.
[00:11:13] Dann: Yes. They
[00:11:14] Allie: Okay,
[00:11:14] Dann: it. it is unclear when Finland was first thought up. Some say it was during the Cold War and others say it was as far back as the 1920s, but the necessity of Finland is quite simple.
[00:11:27] Dann: Japan can fish in the region of ocean between Swin swindling. Between Sweden and Russia without worrying about environmental repercussions. After all, nobody's going to expect fishing regulations to be broken in a place where everyone thinks there's a land mass. And in return, Russia gets a percentage of the fish to distribute amongst their populists.
[00:11:53] Dann: It's a simple case of fishing the Finnish sea, transporting it across Russia. . [00:12:00] That was the real reason for the construction of the Tran Siberian railway and then shipping it from the eastern Russian coast to Japan under the disguise of Nokia products
[00:12:14] Allie: Like phones. Okay.
[00:12:17] Dann: This is why Nokia is the largest finished company, and it is also why Japan is the largest importer of Nokia products, despite the fact that very few.
[00:12:28] Dann: own Nokia phones in the country.
[00:12:32] Allie: finish as in Finland
[00:12:34] Dann: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
[00:12:35] Allie: Okay.
[00:12:35] Dann: Well, no, and it's also saying that they import all these Nokia phones, but no one in Japan has NOKs. That kind of thing too.
[00:12:42] Allie: Okay.
[00:12:44] Dann: This is kind of a short, but I thought it was really interesting.
[00:12:47] Allie: My thing is like, I mean, there's an airport in Finland, right? Like people fly and go to vacation in Finland, so like I don't understand how that makes sense, but
[00:12:58] Dann: Well, let me tell you about it, [00:13:00] Alison
[00:13:01] Allie: preach. Go for it.
[00:13:02] Dann: So what about the finished people? Are they all in all the conspiracy as well? ? No. People from Finland generally believe they are from Finland. In reality, they are from small towns in the eastern part of Sweden and the western part of Russia, or the northern part of est.
[00:13:22] Allie: Hello.
[00:13:23] Dann: So all of the
[00:13:25] Allie: The people in the, okay, they think
[00:13:27] Dann: the ocean. Yeah. Okay. What about Finland's, other exports other than Nokia? Finland's three biggest and three most well-known areas of industry are oil tech and software. The oil is gathered in offshore platforms where the rest of us believe the land mass of Finland.
[00:13:49] Dann: Again, the Japanese get to avoid rigging regulations. In this respect, the tech companies have already been explained above with Nokia and [00:14:00] software companies can easily redirect their IP addresses through the Finish Sea. As for other finish exports, this was kind of funny. Claiming Santa comes from your country isn't a real viable way to get people to believe in it. I thought that was funny. what about Helsinki? Like, this goes back to what you were saying. Helsinki's a very big country.
[00:14:23] Allie: Okay.
[00:14:24] Dann: I mean, Helsinki. Helsinki is the capital I believe, and I'm sure it has a very large airport or something in it. yeah. What about Helsinki? That is an enormous city in Finland.
[00:14:35] Dann: Helsinki is actually located in Eastern Sweden. It's not like the people flying there would even. What about everywhere else in Finland? There's a lot of it, and it couldn't all be made up. 99% of Finland is forest. A lot of it doesn't need to be accounted for when addressing Finnish geography. Why do other countries go along with it? [00:15:00] At first, it was a sign of goodwill between Western countries and the Soviet. A bargaining chip that could be played. But Finland has since evolved to something much more an idealistic placeholder for what countries should aspire to. No real country could be so consistently placed first in education, healthcare, gender equality, literacy rates, national stability, the least corrupt government in the world.
[00:15:27] Dann: Freedom of the press. It, it keeps going.
[00:15:30] Allie: It's place number one in all of those categories.
[00:15:34] Dann: Yeah. Finland is supposed to be a, like an amazing place to live.
[00:15:37] Allie: Yeah, I was gonna say, why do more people not live there if it's that great
[00:15:42] Dann: Yeah. Well, cuz it doesn't exist. It's a giant ocean. It's a concept for these countries and people to aspire to, but that's where the problem about Finland's existence are disputed. No country in the world can possibly be that. Why is it named [00:16:00] Finland? The country was originally made for fishing. What do fish have?
[00:16:04] Dann: Fins? I was like, I was like, I don't think that's what it was. I, I'm
[00:16:08] Allie: I don't think that's a great, like,
[00:16:10] Dann: I don't think, I'm pretty sure it was named after the people , like the Finnish people. But, what do I know?
[00:16:16] Allie: Fish, Huff ins,
[00:16:19] Dann: What about the Finn language? And it says, look up the similarities between Japanese and. , it may surprise you how similar they are, which is weird considering the vastest, distance between them.
[00:16:31] Dann: I don't think that's true either.
[00:16:33] Allie: What similarities?
[00:16:35] Dann: Yeah, they don't even sound the same.
[00:16:36] Allie: No, but I mean, even still, there're countries that are right next to each other, so they are gonna have some similarities. Like, I mean,
[00:16:46] Dann: Yeah. I mean, every,
[00:16:48] Allie: sort of understand, like English people can kind of understand like what they're saying in Spanish because they have like certain like,
[00:16:57] Dann: we borrow words. Yeah,
[00:16:58] Allie: yeah,
[00:16:59] Dann: but I don't even [00:17:00] think they have like the same root language, like,
[00:17:03] Allie: I don't know.
[00:17:04] Dann: but whatever. But yeah, so it was a short little conspiracy. But
[00:17:09] Allie: did you hear that one?
[00:17:10] Dann: I actually, my one source is read it
[00:17:13] Allie: Okay,
[00:17:14] Dann: and but it was, the article I found was a recent, or thread, I found was a recent one, but it was a, a repost of an, of an older.
[00:17:23] Allie: but
[00:17:24] Dann: I guess it's been around for a little bit, but I, I just discovered it, doing the research, doing, looking for a new one, and I was like, this is actually kind of interesting but weird.
[00:17:32] Allie: Yeah. Well, the shorter ones too are usually ones that many people have not heard of yet, so there's not a whole lot of information on it. So when you cover a shorter one, most listeners or myself included, have not heard of it yet. So it is a fun one to cover.
[00:17:47] Dann: But yeah, that is my little conspiracy of Finland doesn't exist.
[00:17:52] Allie: Interesting. I wonder like if there's any sites that do have any more information on it or like if Chatbot would be able to get like [00:18:00] more information on it or something like
[00:18:01] Dann: He's like, no, it doesn't
[00:18:05] Dann: No, they're finished. We're literally finished.
[00:18:07] Allie: So,
[00:18:08] Dann: Their buildings are Ted
[00:18:11] Allie: so yesterday, side note, but yesterday Dan and I went to go see, what was it called? An man.
[00:18:17] Dann: Yeah, we saw the latest Ant Man movie.
[00:18:20] Allie: and I'm not a superhero person at all. I don't know Marvel, I don't know dc but I actually really enjoyed that one. It was really cute, so
[00:18:27] Dann: It was. And the one line we won't spoil anything, but the one off liners from the random people are the best part of the movie.
[00:18:36] Allie: Yeah, the the not the main character, just like the comic reliefs
[00:18:39] Dann: Yeah. Oh, they were great.
[00:18:41] Allie: Ugh. It was so funny. Oh my God. I'm still laughing. I like, the thing is they're, they're very predictable lines. We knew what was coming, but
[00:18:49] Dann: But they were still funny.
[00:18:50] Allie: they were really
[00:18:51] Dann: Yeah. The one I even said out loud before them, and I still laughed when they said it.
[00:18:55] Allie: Yes. I, we both, I I was gonna say it and then I'm like, oh, Dan's got it. That [00:19:00] that's a hundred percent what it's, but let me share mine. Mine's a little bit more well known. I decided to more so go. Commercials and logos. they're, so let me, first of all, my, my, my conspiracy is subliminal advertisement.
[00:19:18] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:19:19] Allie: so yes, there's a lot of Disney movies and things like that that have subliminal, aver, ads we're, not even ads, but just hidden words. Hidden meanings. Yes. I decided that I was not gonna cover. Things like that because a lot of them, believe it or not, are Disney movies. And I know we have a guest that we want to come on and he's gonna discuss Disney in general.
[00:19:40] Dann: so I kind of wanted to stray from any Disney talk until we can get some information from him. Yay.
[00:19:48] Allie: but yeah, so we will have a Disney episode coming up. but let me go over some of the stuff that I found I thought was very interest. So I did use a lot of sources on here. I did not just [00:20:00] use Reddit, , I have psychologist world.com, business insider.com, audio network.com, share this.com, and of course Buzzfeed.
[00:20:13] Dann: You know, it's good then if
[00:20:15] Allie: Yeah, of course. It's a hundred percent facts. All right, so now I know I can't say this word, right? So you're gonna hear me say it like three different times throughout this conspiracy, but subliminal, sublime, subliminal, right? Advertising.
[00:20:27] Dann: Yes.
[00:20:28] Allie: it's gotta be a shit show. I'm telling you, . It is used by advertisers, of images and sounds to influence consumer's responses without their, being conscious.
[00:20:39] Allie: it might be a sound in audible to the conscious mind, but audible to the unconscious or deeper mind. or it might be an image transmitted briefly and unperceived consciously and yet perceived unconsciously, which sounds so confusing. But basically it's when the deeper [00:21:00] mind can pick up on sounds and images that your conscious mind cannot.
[00:21:05] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:21:06] Allie: So, these are often put into songs, films, or advertised, or adverts, I guess advertisements. and they can be used to enhance the persuasiveness or convey something else entirely. These ads use various colors, shapes, and words that enable customers to make small but powerful associations between the brand and an intended. I wanted to go into a little bit of like, history of where all of this started. So, the birth of seminal advertising, as we know it dates back to 1957 when a market researcher names James Vicari inserted the words, eat popcorn and drink Coca-Cola into a. The words appeared for a single frame, allegedly long enough for the subconsciousness to pick it up, but it was too short for the [00:22:00] viewers to be aware of it.
[00:22:01] Allie: The subliminal ads supposedly created an 18.1% increase in Coke sales and a 57.8 increase sales in popcorn
[00:22:11] Dann: Oh wow.
[00:22:12] Allie: I thought that was insane because.
[00:22:14] Dann: is cool.
[00:22:15] Allie: because, I mean, like, this is the first known thought of it, but like, I mean, right there in the study itself, I mean, popcorn alone, they
[00:22:21] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:22:22] Allie: almost level
[00:22:22] Dann: Everyone just gets up out of the movie theater and goes by
[00:22:25] Allie: crazy.
[00:22:26] Allie: That's why I'm like, because I, I, I mean even if that's how they do it, like I'm, I don't really really know how movies were at the time. Like did you have to leave the theater completely in order to go buy popcorn? . So there are three, primary styles of the, Subliminal advertising. So there is back masking, which is used in audio recordings and it features a voice recording, played backwards on a track or recording that plays forward.
so like if you've ever listened to a record or whatever, and then you decide to play it backwards and it's got the hitting meanings. Now there's a [00:23:00] lot of songs. There's a lot of songs that have this, and I think, the Beatles, they have a couple songs. , I decided I was not gonna cover this as much because I do not want to get,
[00:23:10] Dann: Possessed
[00:23:11] Allie: Well, no, but I don't wanna play music on here that we don't have rights to
[00:23:15] Dann: Yeah, we can't do
[00:23:16] Allie: shut down quickly. So the second isau audible messaging subu sub audible messagings inserted into other audio like a song or an interview recording. These messages are usually much lower volume than the primary audio, making them subtle yet still. Although the volume of these messages is too low to consciously hear, the listener's brain will still likely store them in their subconscious memory, allowing them to pull from that information. And then, which is probably one of the most popular types, it is the sub visual messaging. one of the more common types of subliminal messaging is [00:24:00] sub visual messaging, which happens in tv, print, and other visual ads. This form of messaging shows subtle visual cues to viewers, like a hidden message.
[00:24:10] Allie: Within a logo or a small image tucked away within another image. Again, they're usually so small or quick that you don't even realize you're looking at them. But your brain still stores the information.
[00:24:23] Dann: So is that one kind of the same thing as like product placement?
[00:24:28] Allie: I would think so. Yeah, probably. well,
[00:24:31] Dann: it sounds, it sounds a little more Hi. Like, the way you're describing it, it sounds like it's a little more hidden than just like a Pepsi can over on the counter.
[00:24:39] Allie: product placements. You're watching a movie, you see a can of Pepsi, and you're like, oh, this is something that's hidden within the image that you really don't pick up on consciously.
[00:24:48] Dann: Like, like, like Lion King and says sex
[00:24:51] Allie: Yes. Yep. That's, perfect example. There's, yeah, little Mermaid. It has like, I think the penis on the box or whatever it is.
[00:24:59] Allie: [00:25:00] But, like I said, I tried to stay stray away from Disney movies just because I. our guests at the one point to cover it. so I am going to share an image right now, which I thought was a really, really good depiction of how a subconscious mind works. Now, this is an image that I found online, so if you look at it, This is our conscious mind up here, which is the iceberg, and our subconscious mind is down below.
[00:25:23] Allie: So you can see the picture of a subconscious mind is the same as an iceberg with far more of its mass below the surface than above as a subconscious. or intentional aspect of your mind represents around 90% of your total brain function. It's clearly way more powerful than your conscious mind when it comes to processing information.
[00:25:47] Allie: So you have like a 10 90% split, which is crazy. You're
[00:25:53] Dann: It is crazy.
[00:25:54] Allie: picking up on 10% of the world. 90% you don't even realize you're picking up [00:26:00] on. Insane math, but what's this say? I didn't even read this yet, but subconscious able to process 20,000 bits of information simultaneously while a conscious can deal with seven plus two bits of information time. I don't even know
[00:26:17] Dann: That seems crazy because I can barely process one thing during the day.
[00:26:21] Allie: I know, but I guess you think about it, you're like, oh, I hear that noise. I'm still answering an email.
[00:26:27] Dann: Yeah. It's like, like driving, I think. I think I've heard before. driving. Like the way that your brain is, it's, that's why you get so tired driving because like you're on constant alert
[00:26:39] Allie: Yeah.
[00:26:40] Dann: and you're like, you're looking at all things in different directions. Yeah. You're trying to drive straight. You're trying to look this way, that way,
[00:26:46] Allie: Yeah. That's a perfect example right there. But you could only pick up on seven things that like, you better hope that
[00:26:52] Dann: So once you get that eight,
[00:26:53] Allie: that's what ha.
[00:26:54] Dann: you're off the road
[00:26:57] Allie: Okay.
[00:26:58] Dann: accidents happen.
[00:26:58] Allie: Right . [00:27:00] So now Dan, I pulled up a bunch of images. I will let you try to guess first.
[00:27:06] Allie: Some of these are not so subtle, even though like they're subliminal advertising technically, but I mean, some of 'em you can kind of pick up on looking at an image. You may not though. All right, so my first one is Tostitos. So Dan, what do you think is the message in.
well, I see two people, like two people dipping chips and salsa.
[00:27:30] Allie: Yep. Yeah, this one's an easier
[00:27:32] Dann: I've never noticed that before. And I love, I buy toasts all the time.
[00:27:36] Dann: And that's the thing. It's, yeah. Oh, that's so cool. I love this. I love
[00:27:39] Allie: make you hungry? It says, look at the people. Look at the people share and chips and salsa.
[00:27:44] Dann: Yeah. Oh, that's so cool.
[00:27:46] Allie: So that's a very popular one. some of them. This next one is very popular as well. Don't mind, Jennifer Lopez over here,
[00:27:57] Dann: Or this woman just not wearing a
[00:27:59] Allie: So,[00:28:00]
[00:28:03] Dann: life after birth. Intimate photos show postpartum journeys of celebrities. I guess we have to screen these before we share them. . I do know this FedEx one, by the way. I've seen it. I've done
[00:28:17] Allie: Dear God.
[00:28:19] Dann: I know the FedEx one. It's a, it's an arrow.
[00:28:21] Allie: There we go. Yes. I kind of like this one though. Look, I figured it out like this. This particular, photo that I found it is FedEx. It has an arrow, so if you can't see the arrow yet, there's your arrow. Isn't that cool?
[00:28:37] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:28:37] Allie: I feel so fancy.
[00:28:38] Dann: I never noticed that either until a coup probably a couple years ago.
well, the arrow itself is what is the actual subliminal messaging? Now the arrow is supposed to represent, moving forward at a quick speed, the efficiency level. it's in a forward motion. Now I've always been taught too, that if you look between the E and the D, you have [00:29:00] right here a little measuring spoon.
[00:29:02] Allie: And I don't think that's intentional. I just think that's what happens with the letter e . But yes, this arrow was intentional, so,
[00:29:11] Dann: Yay. Well, they need to change their logo cuz they suck
[00:29:15] Allie: all the other advertisements. All right. And then next one on my list. Dan, if you do not know this one, I'm gonna be very disappointed.
[00:29:24] Dann: Okay, I'm ready.
[00:29:25] Allie: We have Baskin Robbins. Now this is the old logo right here, and this is their new logo right here.
[00:29:31] Dann: Oh, I didn't even know they changed it. It's ugly
[00:29:32] Allie: I didn't know they, I, I didn't know until I was researching that they changed it.
[00:29:35] Allie: But what is the message within this?
[00:29:41] Dann: Oh, it's 31 flavors,
[00:29:42] Allie: 31. Yes. So they highlight the 31. There's 31 flavors of ice cream that they offer at a given time. Very easy, but you can see it in the old logo right here in the pink, and then in the new logo, it's still pink. Just different font. I don't love it. Yeah,
[00:29:58] Dann: I guess it's like [00:30:00] chocolate and strawberry, but still
[00:30:01] Allie: No, but I mean, the font that they chose is horrible.
[00:30:04] Allie: Like,
[00:30:04] Dann: It makes me angry. I hate it.
[00:30:06] Allie: yeah, I don't know. Yeah. Bastard Robbins, the logo introduced in 2005 cleverly uses the company's initials to advertise the number of ice cream flavors. right. My next one, I don't even know if you know what this candy is. my aunt used to buy it for us every year for Christmas.
[00:30:28] Allie: have you ever heard of the tub Barones?
[00:30:30] Dann: Yeah. I've never actually eaten one, but I've heard of.
[00:30:32] Allie: They're actually quite good. There's little toffy bits with the, within the chocolate, and then you break it off like you break off little triangles. It's really cool. But, can you see something hidden in the logo? I'm not gonna tell you what it is at, I don't, but all you have to do is see if we can see something.
[00:30:52] Allie: It represents something.
there's a bear in the mountain.
[00:30:55] Allie: Yes. So right here you can see that, its logo wants, to take us [00:31:00] to the Alps, the origin of their chocolate through the image of the mountains. They wanted to bring you to the cerebral mountain, the fifth highest peak in the Alps. but if you look closely, you can see the bear right here.
[00:31:15] Dann: Mm-hmm.
which tells us even more about the origin, which comes from Marina, which is the town that this chocolate was produced in.
[00:31:24] Dann: Oh, bears really like chocolate,
[00:31:27] Allie: So do I. So here is another logo that we are all very familiar with. Amazon. Do you know what they're doing with the Amazon logo? The subliminal messaging?
[00:31:41] Dann: Hmm.
[00:31:41] Allie: Have you ever like heard of it or do you know what it is?
[00:31:44] Allie: It looks like a little smile here.
[00:31:46] Dann: I always assumed it was just a smile, but let me think.
[00:31:49] Allie: It's actually extremely clever.
[00:31:51] Allie: Is it, oh, I'm not gonna get it then. is it similar to like FedEx with like moving, like, Sort of.
[00:31:56] Dann: cuz they, they're, I mean they started out not
[00:31:58] Allie: I [00:32:00] will give you a
[00:32:00] Dann: shipping company.
[00:32:01] Allie: you wanna hint?
[00:32:02] Dann: Yes, please.
[00:32:02] Allie: This is not a smile. This is an arrow.
[00:32:05] Dann: Oh, okay. I got it. I got it. I
[00:32:09] Allie: Well, what is it?
[00:32:10] Dann: They have everything from A to Z
[00:32:13] Allie: There you go. Yeah. Yep. You can get anything off of Amazon, from A to Z. Literally, you can get
[00:32:19] Dann: That is clever. I know I just put,
[00:32:22] Allie: massagers, vibrating, massagers,
[00:32:26] Dann: Swiffer Wet Jet, which I just put in my Amazon cart.
[00:32:30] Allie: I get like hair products and stuff. I buy clothes all the time. Underwear, buy lingerie on there. Did not know that I've tried it before. It's not the greatest But anyways, this one is my favorite and I did not realize this until I started doing all of the research. So the next one that I have on my list is beats.
[00:32:50] Dann: Oh,
[00:32:51] Allie: Do you know what is within this logo? Liminal advertising.
[00:32:57] Dann: is it the logo itself and not like the word beats.
[00:32:59] Allie: It's [00:33:00] the logo itself. Yeah, the little
[00:33:01] Dann: does it look like the headphone?
[00:33:03] Allie: Yeah. Yeah. It's a, it's a man's head with the headphones, and this is the strap that goes over his head. I had no idea, but the more I'm
[00:33:11] Dann: Well, it's
[00:33:11] Allie: oh my God.
[00:33:12] Dann: that's what I, I wasn't envisioning a man with headphones. I was a mission. I was imagining the little bud, like just the bud
[00:33:20] Allie: Oh yes. You know, I got, I always just thought it was like a bee within a circle, but yeah, the bee in the beats
[00:33:25] Dann: Yeah, that too.
[00:33:26] Allie: meant to look like someone is wearing headphones, and I had no idea.
[00:33:30] Dann: a cat butt on screen.
[00:33:32] Allie: Oh yeah, Piper, it's not mine this time. I don't even know where mine are.
[00:33:35] Dann: You wanna say Hello? Pipe. Come here.
[00:33:38] Allie: You can't see her. There you go. Hi, Piper.
[00:33:43] Dann: She has
[00:33:43] Allie: Oh my God, I can hear her. She's purring into the micro.
[00:33:48] Dann: Keep going,
[00:33:51] Allie: All right. Okay. My next one, because I am very familiar with this company, but Cisco, Cisco is an IT company. [00:34:00] they are manufacturer of things like aps and all things for your house net, not just houses, but for commercial buildings, networking wise, as far as like you're wireless. Antennas, things like that.
[00:34:16] Allie: So what is the messaging? I, I'm not even gonna go as far as subliminal advertisement. There is a meaning behind this logo other than like,
[00:34:27] Dann: I'm guessing it has to do with the lines.
[00:34:29] Allie: okay, you probably will never guess this one, to be honest.
[00:34:33] Dann: I'm trying to think because my first thought is they're little antennas or like signal.
[00:34:37] Allie: Yes. Well, that's what it's supposed to represent. That's supposed to represent electromagnetic waves.
[00:34:43] Dann: Okay. Yeah, that's what it kind of looks like. Like a sound like if you're listening to music, like those little visualizers, that's what it looks
[00:34:50] Allie: Right. But then there is a deeper meaning.
[00:34:53] Dann: Oh,
[00:34:54] Allie: Yeah.
[00:34:55] Dann: The deeper meaning is that's how you spell Cisco in [00:35:00] Code computer, code
[00:35:01] Allie: I mean, that's a good guess, but no
[00:35:05] Dann: What's the deeper meaning?
[00:35:06] Allie: So this company was, there we go. This
[00:35:10] Dann: Oh, is that the bridge?
[00:35:12] Allie: Yes.
[00:35:13] Dann: The San F, the Bay Bridge.
[00:35:15] Allie: yeah,
[00:35:15] Dann: Ray. When you said that this company, I was like, oh, they're from San Francisco. That's
[00:35:19] Allie: They are, they're a San Francisco company. So this is meant to, model after the San Francisco Bridge.
[00:35:25] Dann: That's so cool.
[00:35:26] Allie: Right. I thought that was so neat.
[00:35:28] Dann: That is cool. I.
[00:35:29] Allie: All right. And then, I have one more on my list. I don't have it right down in front of me, but it's a very popular one. So have you ever heard of the SFX mag, S F X magazines? It's like sci-fi.
[00:35:44] Dann: Yeah, I think so.
[00:35:45] Allie: Okay. This is just literally all of their magazines up onto a search page. Now, one thing that is very popular with subliminal advertisement is sex, sex cells.[00:36:00]
[00:36:00] Allie: Now the logo is S F X, but if you look at the placement of heads in every image that's rolling Stones, I don't know why that's up here. There is a head that's blocking the bottom of the F, so in every magazine it looks like it's sex magazine.
[00:36:20] Dann: Wow.
[00:36:22] Allie: there's a head, they place the head in the most specific spot, and I've always noticed that one.
[00:36:27] Allie: I wonder if they have, let's see, S F X Magazine logo, that's it by itself,
[00:36:35] Dann: Yeah, it looks different.
[00:36:36] Allie: right? Yeah. But when you have the little head, I mean even the logo itself, right there, it looks like it's saying sex. Like you know that you, you're connecting that line in your.
[00:36:48] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:36:49] Allie: sex. Ls.
[00:36:50] Dann: Mm-hmm. . . That's cool.
[00:36:51] Allie: so that's just another little one.
[00:36:54] Allie: All right, what's on to next? Now, this one I thought was really interesting. I don't have anything written down on this, is just, it's [00:37:00] kind of like a, the psychology of colors. So there is a reason that images are the colors that they are, because certain colors need different things in your head. if I pull this up, this is kind of like a color chart, so like red induces appetite and is often used by fast food change creates a sense of urgency.
[00:37:24] Allie: Let's see. Blue is preferred by men associated with peace, water and reliability. Green associated with heaven, tranquility, nature. There's, these are just some random ones through here. Purple is royalty, yellow and orange. Increased cheerfulness and optimism. so on so forth. Now, down here at the bottom, big corporates that use some of these colors.
[00:37:45] Allie: So you can see McDonald's, they use yellow and red. So the yellow and the red are actually most appealing to children themselves. And then if you think back to above red, increases appetite, yellow is cheerful. So the [00:38:00] literally the perfect colors for McDonald's logo, then you have Starbucks. the Mermaid, logo actually stimulates customers association with na.
nature Green is a brand. it's only top global brand which uses green as its primary. . and then with the, the relaxing, using the green promotes a sense of relaxation, inviting customers to take a coffee break and de-stress. and then if you look down here too, I thought this was kind of cool.
[00:38:25] Allie: I don't know how easy it is to read. See if I can enlarge it any. So these are different logos that use the different colors. So optimism, clarity, warmth. You can see u p s is on their subway shell, Ikea, best Buy Hertz. McDonald's Hall. Do you remember aol?
[00:38:44] Dann: Aol. R i p.
[00:38:46] Allie: Oh my goodness. And then blue, it's a sense of trust, dependability, strength.
[00:38:51] Allie: So we have like Lowe's, Dell, JP Morgan, a lot of the high end, Walmart, ibm, Facebook, a lot of the big name companies. [00:39:00] purple is used for imagination wise. So you have like sci-fi on here. Barbie is pink, I thought. Not purple, but Okay. We'll give it to him. taco Bell, hallmark Cadbury. . I just thought this was really cool.
[00:39:12] Allie: Cause it's kind of nice to see like peaceful growth in health. Right there you got Animal Planet, Tropicana, more like natures logos, excitement, and Bold.
[00:39:22] Dann: most, the most natural product of the mall. Monster Energy Drink.
[00:39:26] Allie: Yeah. Yeah. Actually that's another conspiracy in itself. Monster Energy drink.
[00:39:31] Dann: Oh, I never heard that one.
[00:39:33] Allie: Oof. Okay. I won't give it away
[00:39:34] Dann: Write it down,
[00:39:35] Allie: I'll making. Okay. Now this next one I thought was really cool. This is sort of like a little quiz that I'm gonna give you, and I wanna see how good you are at picking up on subliminal messaging. So right here, this is kind of, this is, you don't have to worry about it, but do you see any subliminal messaging within this image?
[00:39:59] Dann: [00:40:00] Yeah, the bubbles say Coke.
[00:40:01] Allie: Okay. I did, I, I did not realize, yes, but right here, if you look down, it says Coke. And I did not know that one until I actually looked it up. So who knows? Maybe you'll do good, but here, okay. All right. So what product is using sex to grab your attention now? I thought I was so smart. I thought I picked up on this right away.
[00:40:24] Allie: I'm like, Ooh, it's a hidden word. You're not gonna be able to see it
[00:40:28] Dann: Well, it's, it's the bread , right? Yeah,
[00:40:31] Allie: It's the bread. So let's see if you click the bread, you got a giant penis. Now I am like over here, like you can't really see it from where you are, but like, I'm like over here looking close to the image. I was like,
[00:40:42] Dann: You're trying to find a tiny
[00:40:43] Allie: I was like, Ooh, that looks like that's an X in the cutting board.
[00:40:46] Allie: And then this sort of looks like an e I bet that says sex in the cutting board. I, I clicked, cutting board and that was wrong. Okay, so what sort of beverage can this can sub subtly be persuading you to? This one, I still don't [00:41:00] see it, to be honest. I don't know. I didn't click on it.
[00:41:03] Dann: I mean, it's a,
[00:41:04] Allie: Here. I'll try to, the ice.
[00:41:06] Allie: Let's see. So you have seltzer, water, alcohol, or sugary?
[00:41:12] Dann: Can you go back up to it? I'm like trying to look at
[00:41:15] Allie: I did not, I don't know this one. I did not look up this one ahead of time.
[00:41:19] Dann: I'm just gonna say beer. Like alcohol,
[00:41:22] Allie: Okay.
[00:41:23] Dann: a nice cold drink.
yeah, I was gonna say either alcohol or sell for water. So, we'll, we'll go with alcohol. Beer. Oh, shit. Doesn't say beer. Okay. B right here.
[00:41:34] Dann: Oh yeah. I could see that. I could see that. E and the other E, but I, I did, I was like,
[00:41:41] Allie: I thought, I thought I saw a B when I was looking at this before and I was like, that could be an e I still could not figure it out. So, That's kind of cool.
[00:41:51] Allie: All right, next one. Take a look at this image of a presidential candidate and imagine you were trying. is this image trying to gain your trust and [00:42:00] support for this candidate, or is it trying to portray the candidate negatively, trust your instincts? So personally, I feel like he's trying to portray the candidate negatively and only because of the way he has his finger pointed.
[00:42:13] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:42:14] Allie: I don't know this one, like I said, That's my guess.
[00:42:20] Dann: A part of me wants to say negative as well just because of his finger, but others, I'm like, there's a gr there's a red and blue microphones, so Democrat and Republican.
[00:42:32] Allie: I don't know.
[00:42:33] Dann: I, I think, with negative because of the finger,
[00:42:35] Allie: Okay. Oh shit. There's a lot of stuff in here. Lies rat. No, let's check it.
[00:42:42] Dann: I don't see any of that
[00:42:43] Allie: No, I don't either.
[00:42:45] Dann: I don't even that, that shape looks more like a seahorse than a
[00:42:48] Allie: I don't even see a snake really. Well, I guess like if you go like, here,
[00:42:53] Dann: There are so many negative messages, including the word lies, rat and no, in addition to
[00:42:58] Allie: See, I still
[00:42:59] Dann: I don't see those [00:43:00] at all.
[00:43:00] Allie: try to zoom in maybe.
[00:43:02] Dann: Uhuh,
[00:43:03] Allie: I mean, I, I still don't see it.
[00:43:06] Allie: I see nothing. Yeah, I guess we're, we're the ones who sit in the theater watching a Disney movie, reading the word sex unknowingly.
[00:43:14] Dann: Yeah,
[00:43:15] Allie: Okay, so what am I trying to advertise in the image below? Drinking champagne or flying on a plane. I'm like staring at the wood to see if I see anything, but I don't see anything down there.
[00:43:30] Allie: Like this might be something right here.
[00:43:32] Dann: I'm just gonna go with
[00:43:33] Allie: Oh wait, is this, do you see it in the window? See how it's kind of got the, like, I think it said an N. Do you see that?
[00:43:41] Dann: Uhm, I'm trying to move around
[00:43:44] Allie: Oh,
[00:43:45] Dann: burgers. I think it should have
[00:43:47] Allie: well, it's like an e e N. I'm gonna go to Champagne too, to be honest.
[00:43:53] Dann: It's just front and center.
[00:43:54] Allie: Yeah, I feel like the plane, it could have been like anywhere. All right. I'm gonna, All right. [00:44:00] Sh drink.
[00:44:03] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:44:04] Allie: Yeah, it just says drink. So, so right here's an I like you have to look very closely, see the n, see the back of the N and then it goes this way a bit up.
[00:44:20] Dann: I don't see it. Maybe it's be, I was gonna say maybe cuz I'm looking at it
[00:44:23] Allie: I'm like, I'm looking at it on the screen that, that I'm sharing and I can still see the end slightly, but only because, I mean, I also don't, use glasses or contacts.
[00:44:33] Allie: So if you're using glasses or contacts, it may be a lot more difficult to see. All right. Which of these fast food burgers is subliminally presenting itself as a really good deal? All right. I can tell you I know which one it is. Let me zoom in cuz I am seeing hidden images. Here's the one
[00:44:52] Dann: Mm-hmm.
[00:44:53] Allie: and then here's the other.
[00:44:55] Allie: Do you see right here?
[00:44:57] Dann: I do. Is that money?
[00:44:58] Allie: it looks like a dollar or [00:45:00] something, so I'm not sure I, I'm gonna say it's this one B.
[00:45:04] Dann: I'm gonna guess that way too.
[00:45:05] Allie: Okay. Ah, got five, five, correct? Yeah, it's a dollar. Here, here, here, here, here. So it's cheap. I don't know.
[00:45:14] Dann: I would've never seen that
[00:45:17] Allie: I was
[00:45:17] Dann: I guess that's the
[00:45:18] Allie: it. Yeah, I, I was just picking up, I, I had a feeling it would be something to do with the lettuce, because this lettuce was a, like, do you see how like the lettuce kind of looked blocky here,
[00:45:29] Dann: It did.
[00:45:30] Allie: and then here it was just like,
[00:45:32] Dann: fine. It's regular lettuce.
[00:45:33] Allie: yeah, but I, I, I don't know.
[00:45:35] Allie: I just saw it within the lettuce. At first I thought I saw something in the pickle right here, but I guess not. Cool.
