Cold Open And Episode Setup
SPEAKER_00Uh Leighton LA, the fight episode 77. Let's get it. We got to buff up boxing. Listen, Najee Lopez, round eight, TKO. He got dropped around before. That is boxing. That is hard. That is grit. He is an up-and-coming prospect. Keep your eyes on the prize. Shout out to Bro Pro Box TV. They have a lot of up-and-comers getting to cut their teeth on the world stage. Boxing on the world stage. And you guys, we can watch these fights for free. I appreciate that. There's a lot, a lot of boxing these days. There's so much boxing you can get boxed out of the boxers. Listen, Najee Lopez gets the knockout. TKO, round eight. He got dropped right before that. Back and forth. Rock'em sakum, prospect versus prospect. These guys are earning their money every time they get out there. Let's get into it. We get Riku, who beats Nonido Donaire in round eight. Okay. TKO. It was a lot of violence this weekend. People was not, people were not just settling into a boxing match. They wanted to get finishes. They wanted to get the win. They wanted to show why they were there. They wanted to show their heart, integrity, and skill in the ring. Shout out to Riku, who get the TKO round eight knockout over Del Nair. He is a top-tier fighter. And he was one of the top guys in that division. So for him to get past him, it shows where he's going to go. Shout out to Gabrielle Fondora. She got the win for a TKO in round six. Undisputed federal weight at her weight class. This female boxing is in a new genesis. We got 12-round fights. We got MVP promotions with Jake Paul and all that, where female fighters again, the actual look they should get in the sport and the money they should be getting as well. And that's the biggest thing that has changed. It used to be the guys were getting all the bread and taking all the risks as far as these promoters, this and that, and how there was such a big divide in viewership at a time where there's so many female sport icons I couldn't really understand. But I feel like the translation is starting to make sense. People are starting to buy, people are starting to invest in these fighters, MVP promotions, top rank. These guys are all buying into the female fighters in the boxing scene in that arena. Then we get to Oscar Kalazi. He gets the round six defeat over Jesus. Man, listen, it was so many stops, so much violence this weekend. And all the up-and-comers, the guys who really had to pay the bills with their skills, they pay rent. They paid the spectators in blood. They showed us exactly why we pay so much for these events. Four pay-per-views, shout out to PBC for putting on a big card. There's a lot of boxing politics. I really don't care who's the promoter, who's bringing it out. It could be Golden Boy, top rank, Zufa. I don't care. As consumers, we need to make them all compete for our dollar. I think that's the biggest thing boxing fans have right now that UFC fans don't. Boxing fans have multiple people competing for their attention every weekend. So PBC, top rank, Golden Boy, Zufa. There's a pletcher of other promotions. Devin Haney's promotion, Abdullah Mason has his own promotion. There's boxers with their own promotions as well. And you know, we got Jay Prince in his promotion as far as how they do business in boxing. So there's so many people and proponents of boxing. And with Shakur Stevenson leading the way and being recognized as the best boxer of today at only 28 years old, boxing is only going to get higher. We're going to get into Arnold Barbosa. He's coming off of the Teofimo loss. That's why I even brought up Shakur. Teofimo made Arnold Barbosa look regular, and then Arnold Barbosa made Kenneth Smith look regular. Boxing is all about levels, it's all about skill and will. And sometimes another guy has will but no skill. You can have will, but you got to have the skill to back it up. Arnold Barbosa watch him. It was a UD, clean UD. Listen, if the guy doesn't have a good enough jab, it's not going to be a hard fight at the upper levels. You need to be able to cut the ring off. And if you can't cut the ring off, you're just going to lose. Now, we got Anthony Carcy. He is 37, getting the world title back. One of the few Irish boxers bringing Irish boxing back to a big prominence in the world stage. You know, we got UK fighters, we have American fighters, we have fighters from all over, but there has been a lack of Irish fighters. It's good to see Anthony Carsi get the belt back at 37. That's the thing about the sport. It's turning it into a living and a management thing more than it is people just being young and knocking you out. Anthony Carcy's 37. He got the world title around his back, around his waist. Shout out to him. Shout out to Boxing the Fight Episode 77.
