Finals Fever Week: AFLW Round 11 Recap
Finals fever finally hits and the stakes couldn’t be higher. We break down every Round 11 swing that shook the AFLW ladder, from Port Adelaide’s long-awaited Showdown win over the Crows to Brisbane’s gritty nine-point statement against Melbourne. The weekend delivered more than results; it revealed which teams have the system and composure to handle the pressure of September, and which still flinch in big moments.
We start with the turning points that mattered: Port’s defensive shape and time-on control at Norwood Oval, Sydney’s steady climb through the gears against West Coast, and Hawthorn taking full advantage of Essendon’s waste in front of goal. Fremantle’s clean territory game against Richmond, Geelong’s suffocating setup at Mars Stadium, and North Melbourne’s ruthless efficiency against St Kilda each tell a story about form lines and finals readiness. Carlton’s big margin over GWS and Collingwood’s measured win against Gold Coast round out a weekend where disciplined structures beat chaos and scoreboard pressure won early.
Then we look ahead to a decisive final round. Can Brisbane travel and still lock the game in their front half against Collingwood? Will North’s high floor and even spread protect top spot in a heavyweight clash? Do Sydney have the control to push Adelaide to the brink, and can Geelong’s defensive grid stall Melbourne’s corridor chains at GMHBA? We call the key matchups, outline who must win to survive, and flag the tactical levers that separate real contenders: conversion under pressure, stoppage craft, and repeat inside-50s.
If you’re riding the AFLW wave into finals, this is your guide to what matters and why. Hit follow, share the episode with a friend who lives for ladder maths, and drop your top four and flag tip in the comments—who’s peaking at the right time?
Hello, welcome back another episode of the AFLW series. Let's get on with it. So today we'll be welcome back to the AFLW season, and we are one step and one round away from the 2025 AFLW Final Series. We're getting so close, two weeks to go, and we are in finals fever. Round 11 results are just on our corner. Then the final round 12. We've used restrictions and who I think who should make final stay tuned for the oval ladder here on the BJ Show. That will be next time. Hopefully we have time. We'll absolutely put that on our schedule in today's show. But stay tuned because that is all coming soon. So welcome all your new subscribe, like if you like so far. We got the A-League series episode free to come. Stay tuned for that. Alright, as I mentioned, round 11 is here. The results are here. Who do I think should be playing finals or do we respect? So it's a pretty hard competition right now. AFLW to AFL is very two different competitions. And we go back to Friday night football to see the LA Cruz taking on the Port Alain Showdown Mumma for. And hoping, did Adelaide Crews win? Did they actually win? They came hard, but another win. It is always Port Alay's best ever in history on AVLW in the last four meetings. Well, I'm gonna share each quarter to find out what happened. Adelaide, good start, three goals to Port Alaid, two goals. Second quarter, all Port Alain came those goals. We have four goals and no goals to the LA Crews. Second half, Port Alaid lead a nice 14-point lead. And then that's the comeback or the Port Adelaide taking a big second half. Let's now find out right now. With one goal from Port Adelaide again, LA Cruz no goals. A very unusual thing, a 23 point from comeback. But final quarter, the LA Cruz did keep three goals. The Port Alain, no goals. Port Alaid won two out of the four in the year. So it was pretty even, but it was Port A taking the win. 7-10, 52, 76, 9.45. It is a big victory. Anything else? Congratulations to Port Alaid. The AFLW showdown. They finally received a victory four games later. So Friday night was at Nord Oval as well. So Saturday football here on AFW round 11 continues. We got 1, 2, 3, 4, as the usual. Should be five. But it's vice versa. Well, I think it's always been that way. I just mentioned four games. So the first time is we go to Henson Park once again with the Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles. We have the final score right here on the 743 defeated 3828. Well done to Sydney's 17.53. It was a very important game. Two goals to one in the first. Then it was one goal each in the second. Three goals to nil in front of Sydney and a mother. One goal to nil in front of West Coast. Not enough, but it was a good try effort. Each quarter just got better and as well as that. Now we go back to Melbourne. Windy Hill, West and Dunbers. Essendon Bombers. Take on Hawthorne hooks. The font scores 7.14 Hawthorne. 56 points 38. 186 Essendon Bummers. Now how this this quarter went. One goal eight, ten points, one fourteen eight at quarter time. Then it was six minus to one goal two. Essendon had it all by two points at half time. It was one goal to three. What the effort, better effort from the one goal, six two, one goal two to Essendon. So it might probably one goal each shared. Then it was the third quarter, just wasn't enough. Three goals and one goal to Essingon and no goals. Just the one minor to two goals one. So Hawthorne won it from the very much from the halftime point. Well done, Hawthorne, with the win. Essing and always nets with for the final round. See what happens. We do go to three and tall over. And three and tall got the victory. 1858 to 214 at 44 point victory. See what happens. One goal, five, one, one. Then it was four goals three to none. Then it was one point to one goal one. And it was three goals one to none. So three and two-one from the first quarter base of after halftime. It was all over. Front of Richmond, still in the rebuild. Heads up always next week. Here we go. Now, which game are we on? Which have we got? We go to Brighton's Tones Arena in Brisbane. Four. The Brisbane Lions tackle Melbourne Demons. One the best icon. Two teams going head to head. Top four spots alive. Who takes the win? It is Brisbane taking a nice win. Good accuracy. 6-9-45. 5-6-36. Pretty good conditions. Brisbane are back over a big win over Melbourne. Let's see what how this quarter went. Five minus behind to nothing. One, three to four goals, three. That was the quarter. Can Melbourne continue to dominate with four goals straight to one goal one? And then it was one goal, two, two, two minus. So Melbourne struggle after halftime, but whoa, that big quarter really opened up. And they left 20 points in their favour to lose by nine points. And there you have it. We'll see you on result for Sunday footy here on round 11. Well, April W season. Stay tuned for round 12. Who takes on who? Here on the BJ Show. Alright, catch you all the result. Very soon. Welcome all to the AFLW Sunday free games on our hand. That's it, free games. My apologise. Four games. First up, we are Mars Stadium. Where's the Western border cake on Geelong cats? Final score. Geelong got the job done. 6-137-3826. Well done to Geelong winning the win down in Mars Stadium, which it is in Battle X. Well done on the win. Let's now get down to North Hobart Oval with the Kenroos. That take on St. Kilda. No, the Kenroos are still taking it a very strong season. And they take nine, 1367, taking them a 46 point victory. The 3-321. And it was all Saint Kilda not getting the job done, but it was all the Kenwood taking out that second game on Sunday football. We go to the next game, which is Carlton versus GWS. Carlton with the win by 46 points. Same margin for the Kenwoods over St. Kilda. Final score 12-9-81-5-5-35. Well done to Carlton. One from the first quarter and took care of the Colden for Blue. No, Colton taught the win over GWS giant. We come to the final game. This could be anyone's game to win. Poor Golco's not replying at the final quarter. They didn't start well, but they did come back into the game. Final score for this game 5-9, 39-3-6. 24. Good effort, Golco. Well done to Collingwood with the win. Let's get straight into the final game. Or welcome back and say, Final round is here on the BJ Show. A4W Prenticip season now. That's it. We have reached the final round. And I'm gonna say, wow, I cannot believe. Let's drive from the 31st of October. We're God back to back Friday night with you. That's what we are right now. Hold on versus the Kennaroos. First versus second with second versus first, whatever you want. Who is gonna really finish in first? I think Kennaroo doesn't really matter if they lose this game. They are specially secured. It is going to be the Kennaroos will take this game. West Coast versus Carlton. Both teams should be safe to play finals. It's imperfect. This is the last home game for the Eagles before they reach to the finals. I'm going to stay with the West Coast Eagles. Alright, both teams. Port LA all have chances to play. They have to win huge. I feel like they got confidence. They tackle G Dow S Giants and Henson Park. I'm going for support LA with the and that is the first out of the Sass Lake clash. We got Gold Coach versus Richmond. Richmond Gold Coach at Icon Park. Richmond for game for that one. No, no, both teams will not play finals action. Sydney have everything to play for finals, and they're under the net with the Adelaide Crows. If Sydney, with the Sega got that correct. Yes, if Sydney, that's who unfortunately I am going for. They take care of this. A could be out of the finals. It could be the first time in a few years. So Sydney for win. Geelong taking a nice win. Could they take their take on Melbourne? And it's at GM HBA Stevium. I'm going to go for Melbourne Demons with that game. The last few games, that is three triple headers. We got the Conningwood versus Brisbane at Victorian Park in Melbourne. Brisbane to take the win. The second game is St. Kilda. They are at RSEA Park in Melbourne. St. Kilda hosting their last game for the season take on Western Bordoff. Really, St. Kilda should win this game. A disappointing performance last week against De Kenwoods, and that was in Hobart. So all the best. And the final game, Adelaide should take off Frion Tauba. This is it. If Free Antoine win this game in a big way, Adelaide could be out that finals in a massive way. That's it. This is the big one for Frionto and Adelaide. Do host this game, and this is at Norward Oval. Let me get that correct. Correct. Indeed. That is it. Well, thank you. Well done to the all of winners. Stay tuned for next time on the BJ Show, a full W season episode. Well, I'm sure of that. But we do come to the results next time and we'll do all my best for that in the next couple weeks. We'll also do all the finals action. We'll have a couple weeks of that in overall. And we'll also have the congratulations to the AFL W Nab Premier Ship ladder. We'll share that overall as well. And who I think should win the premiership in early positions in the final series. Alright, thank you so much.
