Welcome to Podcasting for solopreneurs and FAQ Friday, where I answer a podcasting question in five minutes or less. Today's question is what is the best microphone for podcasting? And this question comes from Kim, an aspiring podcaster and fan of the show. Hey Kim, thank you so much for listening. And she goes on to say that she wants to start a podcast, but she doesn't want to spend a lot of money on fancy equipment. And so absolutely, Kim, you do not need to spend a lot of money or get fancy equipment. My favorite podcasting microphone is the Samson Q2U. That's Samson S A M S O N. And this microphone is my favorite for three reasons.

So the first is that it is a dynamic microphone, which has to do with the way it picks up sound. And a dynamic microphone is the best option for a podcaster who is recording outside of a professional studio like most of us are in a spare bedroom or a home office, something like that. So it's going to give you great sound quality. And then it's also a USB microphone. That's the second reason I love it. It plugs directly into your computer. You do not any additional equipment in order for it to work, which is not the case when you get to a lot of the high end microphones. And finally, the third reason that I love this microphone is that you can get it at a reasonable price point.

It is available for less than US$100 in most cases. And so between great sound, plugging directly into your computer and at a reasonable price, and it doesn't get much better than that. So the Samson Q2U is my number one microphone for podcasting. That is for new podcasters and experienced podcasters. I am still using my Samson Q2U to this day. That is what I am recording this episode on right now. All right, if you have a podcasting question, click the send me your question link in the episode description and I'll answer it in an upcoming episode. Until next time, happy podcasting.
