Gwen van den Eijnde

Gwen van den Eijnde is a French-Dutch artist and costume designer based in the United States. For the past decade, he has taught apparel design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, where he now serves as head of the program. Trained at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg, he began creating sculptural costumes that explore how dress transforms presence in space. His practice spans performances, installations, and photographs, constructing complete visual worlds and atmospheres. He has presented internationally in residencies, museums, festivals, and schools, often collaborating across disciplines. His teaching career began in 2011 at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, later continuing at the Haute École des Arts du Rhin in France. He has conducted research for Hermès and Tiffany & Co. Recent projects include opera costumes for the Boston Early Music Festival, while ongoing research will culminate in a 2026 Paris exhibition.
