Previous episodes are more selfhelp and interview based
I have lived a full life, been married, divorced, travelled with others and alone, been to concerts and festivals alone. I have run a marathon, owned and run my own small holding and separate dog walking business, I ride horses and currently own a rare breed Fell pony called Merlin. I have taken part in dressage, show jumping, cross country and long distance rides. I have been on a South African Wildlife Safari, riding horses amongst zebras and giraffe. I have worked for a Royal College, a Castle on a small country estate, in book production and publishing, for Italian and Chinese companies.
I started my podcast to help me survive divorce, it has taken me on an incredible journey and I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone, doing activities the stories of which are available for you to listen to. I have met some incredible individuals along the way, real people who have overcome lots of different life challenges.
I have found myself having coffee with Paula Radcliff in Manchester, I have met Chris Evans, been interviewed by him on Virgin Radio, I have met the inspirational Richard Branson, sat next to the lovely Jake Quickendon at a charity event and asked him if he was on Instagram. I have worked on my self development, physical fitness and mental health, having suffered from social anxiety and had a massive lack of self confidence and I talk about this in my podcasts. By pushing myself to do all the things I talk about in my podcast, I have built up resilience. I am now mentally strong enough to date and my podcasts are currently on this topic. There are interviews with some truly inspiring real people to have a listen to, real life role models, who have overcome real life situations which you can listen to for advice and encouragement to help you through life.
Oh and I am James Blunts girl from the subway and it's not just the one song! I didn't want to be famous or judged for not being as beautiful as people imagined me to be, as I look in the mirror and don't see it, true beaty is within you. I also don't want to be known as that woman that the song is as about. I am my own person and its important that I have my own identity.

Hi everyone and welcome to this week's edition of Catherine Lommer's Guide to Life Podcast. Hi guys, all doing you okay? So we're week four. Week four. I only know that because I've been slightly organised this week and it's kind of in front of me as week four on my little laptop. Now, this time last year, don't you remember, I was off to Edinburgh, yeah, to see um for the fringe. Yeah, we're not going this weekend there, unfortunately, because Graeme Norton and Virgin Radio are actually up there and it'll be really quite cool actually to try and get to go and see um Graeme Norton. So if you are in Edinburgh this weekend, um go and see him because he's you know he's awesome. The podcast thing will be really, really interesting. Um, but especially for me because I'm learning how to use video, okay? Literally, I have been um I've got a tripod thing, okay, with a little light on it. Um I've had that for ages, I just haven't really used it. I apologize if you can hear this. Can you hear this chair squeaking in the background? Needs oiling. I'm just gonna okay. I'll try not to move, shall I? Right, hang on. That's it, right, okay. I'm perched, perched on the edge. I'll try not to move it for 30 minutes. Yeah, I'm not sure that'll work either, but we'll give it a go. Uh, yeah, so um, yeah, I'm doing video podcasts. Um, I'm gonna be doing it's gonna be like a little condensed version of saying of what I'm doing in the main sort of podcast as like a promo thing, just so I can shove on YouTube. Uh, the only issue I have is my laptop is a bit old. You know, I don't know if you can hear the hamster um cycling to keep it going in the background. It is making a really weird noise. Um it's it is it is pretty old. It's probably about 10 years old now, it's but it probably does need replacing. And um, yeah, the it wouldn't compute the actual um software that I've I've managed to find. Um so I've I've downloaded it onto my mobile. The only thing is, I think I'll probably have to go and record them at my parents' house, and mainly because they've got super fast fibre. Yeah, I know you wouldn't really think that two OOPs have got like super fast fibre or anything like that, but they have it's really fast there. So I think I'm gonna have to go, um, which mother would be pleased, you know. So I'll rock up to hers once a week, go, hi mother, um, here's the dog. Supervise that, please, while uh supervise people, please, while I'm uh while I'm just redoing my podcast uh on video. And I've also ordered like a little microphone thing, yeah. The the credit card, you know. I'm supposed to be not spending as much on my credit card. Um it's it the it's gone a little bit too high for my liking and it needs to come down. Um this month has not been a good month. Um, so uh, but anyway, do you know what? Life's short, isn't it? You know, and you can't take it with you. So at the end of the day, might as well go and have some fun and do some stuff and do things that I really enjoy with it within reason. But I do need to go and get the the balance down a little bit. Um so that's gonna be a bit of a focus for uh the next few months. Um but there's loads of free stuff you can do out there, you know. So I've I've cut down already, and I'm like, right, okay, that doesn't need to happen. I don't need to do that. I'm gonna change a few things, um, and the balance will soon come down, that'll be fine. Uh so yeah, so video podcasting. Yeah, I found like um a package, it's like a place thing called Riverside, and you basically so you can do like podcasts, and I can do ones where I can actually invite people to join them, but that sounds a bit complicated at the moment, but that might be quite good for doing some video podcasting. If I want to do some chats with friends and stuff like that, that'll be quite good. Um, we can maybe phone Jane. I'll warn her in advance. So we won't do it now. Um, or you know, we'll leave her, we'll leave her a little bit. Um, but that's that's quite a good idea, actually. I can maybe do that. Uh see if we can get some friends on the podcast, see if they're up for it. Some of them be like, oh no, we're not going on social media. Uh they don't want to do it, but some of them will some of them be up for it, it'd be fine. Uh, yeah, so uh that's that's quite exciting. I'm quite excited about that. So I've ordered a microphone um because the woman said you need to order a microphone. I was like, do I really do I? I'm not really sure. And I thought, well, this morning I've got a spare couple of hours, okay, to record the podcast um and then to upload it on to on to internet and get it all ready for tomorrow. And I thought, right, so I can play around with the software. I've got a bit of time to do that today. And uh thought, yeah, I will do. And I recorded my first, well, I so obviously uh I said take 10 on it, but it was probably about take five, trying to work out why I was recording the back of the computer screen. Because what I've done is I don't have my tripod thing with me. I just hung the hung my phone case over over my laptop in a professional manner, and I'm thinking, why are you recording the other side? And then I had to work out that I know I had to switch the screen around and stuff like that. And but I did the finally the the final one that actually worked out okay. I my voice voice was like like this, and it went like that and it went really, really silent. So I thought to myself, yeah, that's why you need to order a microphone. So I've splashed out and ordered um uh I didn't I didn't order, I didn't buy the one that I really really wanted, okay, because it was basically it was about 200 pounds, which was this fantastic road one, and you could get it in like some really funky colours like light blue and royal blue, which I really really like, and it's a reason for that, kind of that's a bit like branding-wise, and I'll come on to that in a minute. Um, but then I thought, right, no, be sensible, order something that's a bit more realistically priced. So I've gone for like um not 100, but no, fairly up there, because um otherwise I know what will happen, okay. Um, I'll get an email from my cousin going, right, what's wrong with the sound in these videos? I'm not happy with the quality of it, so it's gonna come right back at me. So you know what? To make my um life easy to start off with, I've gone for a decent mic, so it's a little tiny one I can clip on. But it's quite exciting because like we are going to the fringe, and I'm thinking, oh, I can there's a thing called live. I don't know how it works, what you connect to, but um I can do some live streaming from the fringe um this year with my little microphone on. Wouldn't that be cool? I'm quite excited about that. Um, I'll have to try and get to grips with it all before then. So that's where we are with that. Um reason I'm talking about colours is because I'm having a look at doing some um kind of clothing uh just for me to wear. I mean, I could show it, I could shove it on a store somewhere, but I'm not sure I would really buy it yet. So I'll just but it's like I want a baseball cap, I think, which I haven't kind of spoken to them about yet. Um, a couple of fleeces uh um with with the logo on, um, a dog coat for Pippa, okay, and some t-shirts. So they're in the planning, like sports t-shirts and things. And I'm kind of just deciding what colours I want, uh, because traditionally it's navy, and also um, sort of we've kind of been playing around with the logo a little bit and we've changed it slightly. The core bit's the same with kind of me and the podcast, but actually the writing around it is a little bit more modern and slightly different, and it looks a lot better. So you're gonna see a bit of change of branding coming up. I'm quite excited about that. I'll have to I'll do the whole social media thing and we'll go into the printers and stuff and order it, and then we'll go and um we'll pick it up when it's ready. But that's probably I don't have enough time to now go into the printers until at least the end of August. Uh so um, so that will that'll be a September thing. We'll do a bit of social media around that, um, which would be quite good. I need it, I need it ready for I need it ready for the beginning of September or mid-September anyway, because I've got something that I'm gonna be doing, and it'd be really good if Pippa could be there. Um, if I can be wearing my stuff when I'm doing what I'm doing, and if Pippa can be there um saying uh and it's cool actually, it's really good. I'm not gonna tell you what it says, you can see it at the socials when it comes up. Um I've had quite a few new follows this week on Instagram. Um, I've kind of been doing a load of reels, so I haven't really done much reels, many or much reels, many reels for a while. Um, so I've done quite a few, and some of them have got like over a thousand views, which is which is great. It's fantastic. So I've had a few new followers, um, which is great. So if you're listening to the podcast off the back of one of those follows, then that's fantastic. Thank you very much. I appreciate that it's supposed to be a humorous podcast. Hopefully it is, and it will be. But I just want to kind of update you on where we are and what's going on. Uh, yeah, so uh this week, right? So we went off to the caravan, okay, last weekend. Uh, because you know, for anybody who's just maybe they've just decided to head in for week four without listening to weeks one to three, and but by the just video content, I'm gonna have to go back and record what I've been doing on weeks one to three. So they might be like short clips. I don't quite know how it's gonna work yet. I'm not sure how my phone's gonna be able to cope with uploading that length of video, and but we'll so we'll see it. It's a work in progress, but I will go back and do that and shove that on YouTube. Yeah, so for anyone audio that's uh maybe just listening to the first uh time. Well, it probably won't make him a lot, but it probably will make a bit of sense, but you'd be better going back and listening to week one. But there we go. Uh yeah, so my partner and I, we don't see that much of each other since I've kind of moved into his house. We're really, really busy people. Um, sometimes we get to spend the whole weekend together. Um, sometimes we don't. He might be off playing golf and I'm doing horsey things. Um, or I'm I'm working this weekend, you know, it's a bit of a shock. Yeah. Right. So uh yeah, I know that doesn't it rarely happens, but I am doing it. So I've I'll have worked seven days this week. I'm not gonna tell you how many hours because it'll be a crazy amount. It'll be approaching about 60, probably. But there we go, it's fine, it's okay. It's just one weekend, and it's just to be so I could because basically I've booked all my holidays, so I said, Can I do it for time and leave, please? And I can go some places. That's that's it. It's not happening every weekend, it's just a one-off. And uh, yeah, so last weekend partner and I went off to his caravan. It's got this caravan, it's near the beach, it's fantastic, and it's a really, really great sort of like you know, space for us to be in, really quiet location. Um, we headed down a Friday uh after I'd read Merlin. Um so we dropped uh the wolfs off and we headed straight to like North Wales Golf. So for anybody that has checked out my social media or listened to um my Women into Golf podcast, I think it's called, I've started playing golf this year, okay. Now it's one of those things, isn't it? You either love golf or you hate it. And do you know what? I think until you've actually had a go at it, I don't think you know you can kind of like comment either way. Um, if you've had a go at it and think, no, it's awful, I really hate it, then that's absolutely fine, no issue with that whatsoever. Um, but if you haven't had a go at it, no, have a go at it. But I would recommend if you're a woman listening to this, go into the women's intergolf blokes, you have to cop up cop up cough up a little bit more, they don't have the same kind of programs. I'm really sorry about that. Ha ha ha. It's like we'd be as women very rarely get things, you know, um like that put on for us. So I'm quite happy that it is there. We went off to uh North Wales Golf, okay, in St. Asif, and it's a great beginner's nine hole course, and I absolutely love playing there, it's really good fun. Um, although I have to I do have to say, so um John took pictures of me because I usually just wear these. Do you know what? I don't know why, right? At 52, I've suddenly sort of I think it's because I'm on the I'm doing video, that's what it is. I'm doing video stuff and doing my more full-length photographs, okay, of myself that going on social media. And I'm really starting to think, okay, you look terrible in that. So John took a picture of me, and I've got my I've got some Catherine Lorimer's Guide to Life polo shirts that I had done for when we went off to South Africa. I thought I'm gonna use them to promote the podcast and stuff. And I've and to be fair, I have worn them and they're maybe two years old now. I've worn them quite a lot, but I've lost a lot of weight. So I had this top on, this blue bottleneck top on, right? Um, and I I probably had the wrong bra on as well, you know, like the hammock one that you can wear low-cut dresses with rather than the kind of like you know, sports hold it all up there so it looks in the normal position. Because yeah, I am 52. Anyway, so I had that on. Um, and I had these these shorts, which were size 14, so they should in theory fit. Um, and he took a picture and I thought, oh my god, that looks terrible. I look terrible. These shorts look absolutely massive on me. I've got little stick legs that are sticking out of them. Um I look, and it's just you know, like so it wasn't quite this you know, in the olden days when they used to have those kind of um jodpers where the where the the things stuck out at the top like a pair of ears. No, they yeah, they were it was awful, and I and the the top was just hanging on me, and I thought, oh my god, you need to uh the G-word again, sorry, sorry, Ofcom. Uh right, so I was just like, I need to, I definitely need to uh yeah, I need to I need to get a new look. So um went on, went on to Amazon, good old Amazon, and I had a look and I've got some stuff, okay. I've got sort of fit it, I've got a skirt. Has anyone heard of a skirt? No, is it skort? Skort, that's it. Have anyone heard those before? They're kind of like shorts, but then there's a flappy skirt over, yeah. Um, so I don't know. I think it's because in golf, you know, anything sort of like remotely sexy and tight is really frowned upon by some of the older female members. No, no, I don't think the blokes really care either way. Uh so I've got this a navy blue short, that's it. Uh, and I've got uh three tops. So I've got two kind of uh light blue uh uh polo shirts and another kind of like a dark, darky sort of mottledy blue polo shirt. Um and that's when I kind of and I thought, right, okay, that looks much better, right? That's okay, that's good to go. But then what about everything else? Because I live in my job purse, okay. Um, usually because I'm like I'm bringing the pony in and I'm riding, and then I'm razzing off to do my work, and then I'm razzing off at lunchtime or a bit later on to kind of go and put him out. That's my thing, my lunch break, in my job purse, and then I'll quickly have maybe a shower and get changed, or I might have showered after I've got back before I started work. It just depends what I'm doing. Um, so I thought, right, okay, you need to kind of be wearing something that's kind of a bit better. So this is where the branding's coming in. So I'm having a look at some fitted female t-shirts which look a little bit better. And so that's quite good. So yeah, I looked and I was like, right, okay, that's disastrous. I don't want to have any social media of me looking like that. So I've I've changed it, I've I've improved myself, and uh, because I'm losing a bit of weight now, I've got a bit of a curve, I've got a waist, it's great. Um, and you know, I'm enjoying going on all these different doing these different things, so uh yeah, so I'm I'm kind of like having a look at that. So you'll see some golf social media at some point. Um, I've got them out of the packet, I've tried them on, they do fit, so that's all good to go. Um, but my golf, so we went off and we kind of we went off to play uh golf. Um I'm quickly learning about golf. Okay, the tee shot is the most important shot that you can play. Uh, and the reason for this is if you have a really crap tee shot, so that's when you first strike off, you pop it on a tee, um, and it's either I've got some little ones now that go right into the hole that John's given me, um right into the ground, and then because if you're you're hitting off for a driver, you want a bigger tee. I've got some nice pink ones for that, which is great. And then if I'm hitting off from just a normal club, you actually want to hit it from the ground. You don't hit it from it, but I'm not hitting it from a tee anyway. And so uh yeah, I'm learning that the T shot is the most important shot because see if you hit that, you hit that, you know, quite a long way. Because what I'm finding now is I'm hitting it a lot further, okay? If you hit it a lot further in the wrong direction, it starts becoming a bit of an issue, right? You know, we actually had to yell four, which means that the ball's heading towards some people on on the next hole, um right, which I did a couple of times, and um and and yeah, so if you hit them in the trees as well, yeah, that then you have to get them out, or you have to play an unplayable shot, and then that adds to it. So I was it, you know. So I'm learning that it's the you know, it's the most important shots is the first one because where it lands on the course kind of impacts on how you play the rest of the whole. Uh yeah, so I was having I've been having a few issues, okay. Um I've been having issues with my driver shots, they've been going right. So we've been doing a lot of focusing on how I'm holding it, you know, how my feet, what position my feet are in. So I think I've got it sussed, but I haven't played golf now for an entire week. So I'll go off on Monday and we'll go and play somewhere and uh and we'll we'll see how the driver goes. Um, but but I'm enjoying it. I'm really, you know, I'm it's great, and it was really nice actually, because um it's the first hole is at the North Wales Golf, it's it's fairly short. And first of all, I started off using my nine club, okay, and then it that went on to the next hole. So I thought, right, okay, I'm gonna have to use the wedge. Uh the wedge is something that you use for like chipping and putting, and um, so and I've used my wedge, and that's also going on to the next hole. So now I'm having to use my sand wedge, I think. I'm gonna have to use that because I hit a cracking shot and it went all the way over past the hole, and I was like, right, okay, no. So that's so, but I was really, I was just I was just I was you know, it was great. And so we played four times in all. Um, and the last two times my scores were mainly like five or six shots per hole. I mean, it's put there's a par three, and there's one par four. So par three basically means you should take three shots to get the the you know it to that particular hole, and then obviously the par four, you get four shots. But if you're beginning, you know, you're not gonna get that. And so, yeah, mainly five or six shots, and they were all sort of consistent on the last ones. There's one hole I really stuffed up, um, mainly because I had hit a fantastic shot with a driver, and then thought, yeah, I'm gonna be a little bit smart rather than doing like a pitch shot, which I know are my best shots. I thought I'll try a nine-iron and it went off sideways and hit the tree, and then I had to rummage out when it went wrong from there. So it ended up being about nine rather than six, but there we go. Uh so I got like I got um 49, which is a fantastic score because I was starting off getting 60s. Uh, so that you know, so I'm I'm really pleased with that, pleased with how it's kind of really going. Um, and also John's really um gaining confidence as well from us playing together. We're both helping and encouraging each other, which you know is a relationship. That's what you should do. You know, this is your partner. We shouldn't be sort of belittling them and saying horrible things about them. We should actually be supportive and encouraging them to be better, better versions of themselves and help things. And we're both taking our time, we're not rushing shots and kind of like chatting it all through, right? What do you think is the best shot for that one? Why are we doing it? And he'll be like, right, I'm gonna try and strike it so it goes all the way over the trees into the hole. I'm like, do you really think that's a good move? Do you not think you'd be better off with a bit shot, getting it back on the green and just hitting it straight? It's like, but you know, so but it's quite good that we're having these conversations. Um, and say one thing that I have stopped doing is trying to analyse what went wrong. So John does it, it's like, what do you think went wrong at that shot? And I said, and I was like, Well, there's no point overthinking it, just leave it there, and I'll just focus on getting it right for the next shot, and that's how you have to be with kind of any sport. Um, and as soon as I work away from that one shot, or in fact, from that hole, I just think about um putting that behind me. It was a crap hole, just focus on the next one and getting it right. And that's how you really have to be with any kind of sport. You know, if we overthink things out there, then you know, you're not going to get anywhere, and then you're getting more and more frustrated because I don't get frustrated playing golf, it doesn't frustrate me at all. Uh, some people get really cross, and I've heard some great stories um from John about people he's had competitions with, and uh, you know, they kind of chuck their rattle out the pram, had a bit of a strop, you know, chuck their clubs around. You can't do that in golf, you you can't let it frustrate you. You you just literally got to go and write, okay. That was a really awful hole. It took me nine attempts to get it in. It was terrible. I'm not gonna think about that. I'm gonna move to the next one. I'm gonna think about my driver's shot and how I'm hitting it. And I and I moved on from that hole and I hit a cracking driver's shot, probably one of the best ones I've hit. Um, you know, so that's just uh how I recommend that you should play golf. And so I say I was really, really, really happy with the way I played this time. Um, as it so probably no source for my socials as well. I've done a did a one mile run on Saturday as well, because I've signed up to do 10 miles of running for children with cancer in August. Right, I have no idea I'm gonna fit it all in because we're week one in and I've done one mile and then I did another one. What are we? Hang on. I've got my I have I didn't I haven't even had time to check like how far it was because it was I think it was in it was it in kilometres. Is it here somewhere? I've got to try and find it now, haven't I? Um trying to remember which bit it's in steps. Does it not say run? Okay, I'm gonna have to try and find this now. Oh, where you are, activities Wednesday, that was it. Right okay, 1k. 1k run. What's that in miles? Let's click on it, shall we? Okay, it's probably just over a mile, isn't it? So does it say no? That's not very helpful, is it? But anyway, distance 1k. I'll have to work out what that is in miles, it'll tell me there somewhere. So just trying to um you know, trying to fit all this in is gonna be a nightmare. Right. So if two miles was I did 1.6k, so it's all in miles, isn't it? So 1.6k, yeah, that's fine. That was in when we went to well. So I did a 1k run. I'll have to work out what miles what okay. There's a telephone in here. I didn't know that. Guess you guys probably heard it as well. Right. Do you know what? I don't have time to edit that out and go into download some software because I don't do that. I do my podcast in a wanna, it goes out as it is, I don't have time to edit. It or anything like that. So that's the phone. I've turned the volume right down now. Hopefully it won't happen again. Right. So I need to work out how much 10 miles is, don't I, in kilometres, so I can work out how many I've done so far. Hang on, let's give that a go. 16 kilometres, okay? Right. And I've done 2.6 already. So how many, if I'm doing 16 kilometres over, should we say over about four weeks? Bear in mind I am going off to Edinburgh at some point, divided by four. I need to be doing 4k a week, and I've done just over two. Yeah, you see where I'm going with this. So it is going to be a bit of a challenge. People please feel free to support me in this if you can afford to do so. If not, just just kind of keep up with my social media and see how I'm getting how I'm getting on right. So after this podcast has been recorded, I think I'm going to have to head out for a run. I've got about an hour before I need to go and bring the pony in, right? Or put the pony out to a new field, rather. Uh yeah, so I've I have because I have actually entered a 5k run and I thought, well, if I sign up for this um running uh 10 miles for children in cancer in order, I thought, well, in August, then I think well, actually that'll be my training for my 5k pretty much done, and then I can just do some 3Ks um in September, and we should be okay to do the five and be fine. Um so no real issues with my back after doing everything, but say I am doing Pilates quite regularly, and I'm also going swimming twice a week to try and kind of uh you know try and kind of like keep mobile and keep flexible. Okay, so what else do we do for the weekend? Because I like you know, weight weight loss, it's a weight journey. I'm trying to lose weight, obviously. Um, I've lost lost about 5k. I'm kind of like stuck at that point at the moment, but um and I kind of like shoved on social media. We went to an ice cream place, there's a fantastic um place near where we are, and it's they sell um the ice cream um from Cheshire Ice Cream from Tatten Hall, and it's amazing ice cream, it's fantastic. And I'm kind of like thinking, well, you need to be able to let yourself have these things occasionally as a special treat. Otherwise, you you know you can't just be healthy all of the time. You need to kind of like have a bit of a relapse. Um, and we did actually go out for tea. Uh, we went to uh kind of went to a like a no education. It was like I haven't put the social media up there for that yet. It was like a little cafe place, um, and it was nice. And I I hardly drank any alcohol as well. I only had like one bottle of wine and between it was shared between the two of us over overnight. And I feel I must admit, I'm feeling great for not really drinking anything, um, especially if I wanted to go for a run early next morning. If I don't drink the night before, I think that's really, really helpful. Um, and so we we know obviously I would kind of still want to be able to go out for meals and stuff, but it's how to do that when you are still trying to lose weight. So, what I did was I we kind of went for tapas, so they're really small dishes, and I went for the like the the ones that were about 200 calories a portion, so not too bad, and you only had a small amount, and that worked really, really well. And I also had like a fruit juice smoothie. I'll I'll shove the social pictures up. Um, I was I was playing around with AI. I managed to remove you can remove people from photographs. It was well really cool. I was quite into doing this. I was like, oh yeah, I can remove you, John, from the picture because I've chopped his head off when I took the picture. I was like, really sorry, I've chopped your head off. I didn't mean to do it, I was trying to photograph the food on you at the same time, and I've got the food in. Um so I will have to go and try and take him out of the picture and then shove the food up. So it looks like I'll be sat on my own, but you know that there was someone there, it's just the fact that he's out of the picture. Um, I haven't did I weigh in? Yeah, so I'm I'm okay. I'm I've kind of um yeah, I'm I haven't really lost any more weight, um, despite the amount of exercise that we did because to walking the dogs twice a day, then we've been playing golf all the time. So that's four hours of walking four times. Okay, so a fair amount of exercise. Um still, so this is how much I actually have to do. Um having you might have seen my socials, having polio cystic ovary syndrome, and it's a lot to do with like blood sugar sugars. So I'm gonna talk more about that next week, but just to say that the way that I so stopping eating, okay, and then reducing what I'm eating and eating more calories for most people that you can lose weight. Uh, for me, it doesn't work like that because your body is doesn't work in quite the same way, and your body processes sugars in a different way, and it's all kind of about that, and it's I'm having to be a little bit more technical in order to try and lose a bit more weight. Um yeah, so also we went exploring a bit. Usually we just do the same work, and I was like, actually, can we go somewhere different? Um, and I think that's important that you do sort of, you know, you don't just stick in your same old comfort zone, but you do actually say, Do you know what? Let's go and you know, kind of do a little bit, something a little bit different. Uh, so I haven't mentioned Merlin this week much this week. Um, haven't really done a massive amount of different things on him. I've just been kind of riding him, um, not as much this week because I say I was away for the weekend, and he's had his feet done, uh, so he's had his his nails done by the farrier. He came to do that today, and then he's also had the teeth dentist out, but I didn't take any social media of that. So basically, once a year he has his teeth filed down with like an electric kind of dental tool. So basically, you know when he needs to do it because he starts sort of pulling faces and kind of crossing his jaw over and getting a bit cross. Um, and basically it just it helps them to kind of eat the grass down, and apparently his teeth are in really good condition for his age, so that's really good because he's gonna be um 11 very soon, yeah. So that's cool. Pippa incontinence issue life with an incontinent labrador is finally over, which is great. I did buy um uh a kind of cover for the sofa, which is quite good, quite absorbent. So she's now on two hormone tablets um a day, and that's massively helped with the issue. So hopefully, fingers crossed, um, we won't have any more problems with that, which will be fantastic, and she seems a lot happier um as well, which is also great. And John's definitely happier that she's not we've not got an incontinent labrador tripping around the house and following her with a mop and changing covers all the time, having to rewash everything. Oh, and I haven't mentioned the teenager. Okay, so legend teenager this week. Right, so we went we went off for our weekend away. We came back into the house. Um, and uh yeah, because because previous to the week we were moaning that there was a there was something smelly in the kitchen. We were all trying to track it down, couldn't really work out what it was, and that but and she walked in one day, smelling absolutely amazing. I was like, I was like, that's what's missing from this house. Um, you know, those air freshener things, like you know, the things that with the sticks that stick out. Because I used to have like those at my house, my health smell, and they've got loads of candles, it smelled really nice. And I was like, we're missing nice smelling things. So I immediately was on to him saying, Right, can you get some of these please? He did. Um, anyway, so we came back from the caravan, opened up the front door, and we went, and I was like, I was like, it smell and like it smells different, and I was like, Yeah, it's clean and better. Um, so after my after my post about the shoes, her shoes were all really neat and tidy. She tidied up mine, um, and she'd like cleaned, she'd hoovered and mopped everywhere and cleaned a bathroom. And honestly, God, and and it looked fantastic. So, FairD's teenager, hang on. Yeah, without saying a word, she'd she'd done all that off her own back. So, you know, fair does that's pretty impressive, really. Um, where I'm sitting. Yeah, very impressive. And that's it. We're nearly at half an hour. Um, so I will do some. I say I'm looking forward to the video stuff. That's quite exciting. Um, I've had to plan it all out and everything. I've done like a little little kind of like um schedule of everything that I need doing. Um, I'm kind of ticking things off as I need to need to go. So um uh anyway, have a so look out for that. And I will do some socials about that so you'll see when it's available. It'll all be on YouTube. So I've already got my YouTube channel. I've already got about 80 subscribers. I don't know, is it that many? I'm not sure actually. I don't know if I'll tell me if I have a quick look. I don't really check very often. I've only just started shoving stuff back on there again. So hang on, uh, YouTube. Better tell you what my YouTube channel is. Shouldn't don't I need to do that? Right, hang on. Um, it's Catherine Orma's Guide to Life, strange enough. Right. Um, and it's you can also listen to my podcast via YouTube, although I don't get the stats for that, so actually please don't do that. Right, hang on. I don't I don't know how do I work out how many subscribers I've got. I don't really know how to do that. View channel, let's try that, shall we? Um, 76 subscribers, that's not too bad. That's pretty good. And so some people listen to my podcast through that, and I've got videos, it'll be under the video section, and I'll it'll be under sort of shorts as well. Um, got loads of shorts, they kind of seem to do quite well. Um, Merlin of me of 1.8k views, that's pretty good. Some are less, some are more, but I've only got one that's got four views, but I think that's because I didn't put enough hashtags in, so I think I'll take that one off and then reload it at some point in the future. That's absolutely fine. So, yeah, so loads of stuff up there already, which is absolutely fantastic. Um, and thanks very much for supporting me and thanks very much for listening to me and hope we get something out of it. And I'm sorry if it wasn't as funny as it usually maybe is, but it's just been it's been one of those weeks, okay? Another one of those weeks. Uh, hopefully I'll have a bit more comedy going forwards after I've been to the fringe and been ex uh been, I was gonna say been expired, been inspired. Although, yeah, I'll there'll be another podcast coming out at least before I I head up to Edinburgh. Um, and I've got yeah, I've got some exciting news as to where we're going, but I'm trying not to contain myself because it's it's a really, really, really nice restaurant. And he's like, he said, uh I was like, Oh, I quite fancy going there. And I was like, well, why don't you check the they've got an availability? We can only get him for lunch, and he's like, Oh, yeah, there it is. Uh so we're gonna go there, and it yeah, it looks absolutely amazing. Anyway, um, I will catch you next time. Have a great week, everyone.
