I have lived a full life, been married, divorced, travelled with others and alone, been to concerts and festivals alone. I have run a marathon, owned and run my own small holding and separate dog walking business, I ride horses and currently own a rare breed Fell pony called Merlin. I have taken part in dressage, show jumping, cross country and long distance rides. I have been on a South African Wildlife Safari, riding horses amongst zebras and giraffe. I have worked for a Royal College, a Castle on a small country estate, in book production and publishing, for Italian and Chinese companies.
I started my podcast to help me survive divorce, it has taken me on an incredible journey and I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone, doing activities the stories of which are available for you to listen to. I have met some incredible individuals along the way, real people who have overcome lots of different life challenges.
I have found myself having coffee with Paula Radcliff in Manchester, I have met Chris Evans, been interviewed by him on Virgin Radio, I have met the inspirational Richard Branson, sat next to the lovely Jake Quickendon at a charity event and asked him if he was on Instagram. I have worked on my self development, physical fitness and mental health, having suffered from social anxiety and had a massive lack of self confidence and I talk about this in my podcasts. By pushing myself to do all the things I talk about in my podcast, I have built up resilience. I am now mentally strong enough to date and my podcasts are currently on this topic. There are interviews with some truly inspiring real people to have a listen to, real life role models, who have overcome real life situations which you can listen to for advice and encouragement to help you through life.
Oh and I am James Blunts girl from the subway and it's not just the one song! I didn't want to be famous or judged for not being as beautiful as people imagined me to be, as I look in the mirror and don't see it, true beaty is within you. I also don't want to be known as that woman that the song is as about. I am my own person and its important that I have my own identity.

Hi everyone, hopefully you didn't hear the munching. You might have done over the music. So I had the microphone up. I was helping myself to a few spoonfuls of my mullet chocolate mousse. Oh, how orgasmic. Oh, it's absolutely amazing. Um, how's everyone doing? So, just back from work. Um, this is my second attempt, mainly because I forgot to press a record button on the first attempt. And I'm like, gang, it still says 2.58. Why is that? And I'm thinking, nope, that's the time.
unknownRight, okay.
SPEAKER_00It's all going well then. So, yeah, I've been doing a bit more at work again this week. Uh, I just did date till two, and then we're going out this evening, looking forward to that. Or glammed up, glammed up event. It's great, it's fantastic. Might even paint my nails. I've got some nail varnish, I've got the back from home, so it might do that. We'll see how we go. Um, and uh, yeah, so I've been pitching in, helping out. Hopefully that's the end of it now because I'm a bit knackered. And do you know what I really found really like frustrating? I got to like 12 o'clock and I'd had a I'd had a 15-minute break. 12 o'clock, and I'm like, oh man, I'm just dying to see the outside. Outside the window. I want to look outside. And it was just really, and I was just like, I thought I could, there's no way I could work in this place uh where it is. I couldn't work there um full time because I couldn't cope with not being able to see outside. Um, so I kind of think about some of the poor patients and some of the wards, having been one myself where you can't actually see out the windows pretty dire because you have to be able to see outside and let fresh air in. I think that's part of your recovery, you know, you know, kind of in the outside world seeing what's going on. Anyway, right, how's my golf going? Okay, I haven't played this week because I haven't had enough time. I've just been too busy. Um, but I did do my lesson on Saturday and I did a golf simulator game. So it's like this little prose room, which is um, you know, it's quite small, it's it was cozy with kind of five of us in there. And um, but we had like this golf screen and it was like a spongy curtain-y thing, and I was a little bit scared about hitting the golf ball. Because I thought, oh no, it's gonna, you know, what's gonna happen? I mean, I couldn't quite, my brain couldn't quite cope with the fact that I know how I had to, I was kind of thinking, do I have to hit the golf club a little bit lighter than maybe I normally would? And uh anyway, there's another woman there, and she's like, right, you go first. And I was like, no, you go first, because you've done it before, and I'm not really sure what I'm doing. And she did a full shot, and I was like, right, okay, I couldn't, I couldn't really go for it. So I did a full shot, and it was in a it tells you how straight it is, and it was it was you know how far you've hit it, which was you know it was really, really good. And um, I was a couple of a couple of holes where um the bro said, right, use that. And I was like, Are you sure? I think that might hit it too far. And I did hit it too far with that one, and he was like, right, okay, you know, and some so there's two two really, really good shots. Um, that a couple of cracking shots. The last one, last shot, um, I actually got I hit it straight into kind of like onto the green and got par, which so that's within three shots, because they it assumes that you can put it in, you know, from there, which isn't always the case if we're honest in real life. Um, but I nearly got a birdie, so they wouldn't really sort of take two two shots. And I said to you know, the pro, I said I have actually done that a couple of times on the course, but I think under pressure, you know, because I haven't played as much at the moment, you sometimes you don't always get it in. Last time John was like, Catherine, I know it was getting really frustrated on my behalf because I wasn't able to do it, you know, such such is life. It's one of those things, isn't it? You know, it's a game. But the so that but I really enjoyed it, it was great. So once I got hold of the whole kind of fear of that I had I could do a full shot at the curtain without anything breaking, then it was all fine. Um really enjoyed playing it. Um, I came, I probably came second. We played a nine-hole course, we played seven holes of it, but we I came second. Um, and a friend of mine who's left-handed, she's she's just such a fantastic player. She's so relaxed, she just goes, mmm, and it just goes straight in and she just gets things in threes and or fives, and she's just great. Uh so what did we do on the Sunday? Sunday, right. We went off to Delmeer Forest, okay, from the yard, and did a 10-mile road hack, which was great and forest hack, fantastic. There's a crowd of us um en masse. Um, bless him, my little star pony led most of the way. He was absolutely superb, he was fantastic, such a good pony. He was just great. And I went halfway through, um, uh they just give me directions, you know, which way to go next. And someone said, Well, how does she know? Hasn't she been here before? And she's like, No. Um, she's like, but she's opened the gate and led us all the way. It's like, no, it's because he's just awesome in this pony. Um, because he I was with his um with his couple, two of his field buddies, actually. So it was it was a really good hack, and one of them I hadn't hacked out with before, um, and he was in his element because it's his one of his best friends in the field, which is great. You know, there's this massive, great big black cob, and these two little native native greys that get on fantastically well. Well, you can see in the field is like this big black horse and two small white ones, which probably sounds quite racist, but I am talking about horses, so it's not um, and that's the way to describe two two bays, maybe one bay and two greys. Then how's that? That sounds a little bit better, doesn't it? Um, so what else did they do? Um uh blue tan, blue tones band, blue tanned band, blue tones band. I went off to see the blue tones, um, which is no, hadn't really seen them before. John really likes them, so we went off to little club little club, sort of um Catholic club in Warrington. And it was great. I was really enjoying it, sort of no dancing around a little bit, but it was unbelievably hot in there. Um, and uh so the one song that I know of theirs came on, and halfway through that I started feeling really, really ill. I think I just overheated or was really run down or a bit tired because I'd worked too much, and I literally thought I'm gonna faint in a minute, so I had to disappear off to the toilet. Okay, was there for some time, just sat on the noodle, uh, and like I'd I'd had a pint and a half of cider, so it's not as if I'd had a massive amount to drink, but in hindsight I should have probably opted just for diet coke. Um yeah, so then I ended up I was I was so ill. I I came out of the bathroom and I kind of like clinging to the sink, and this girl woman in there said, Are you okay? And I was like, Yeah, I'm I'll be fine. I'm just feeling a bit a little bit dizzy because it's so hot. Um, and then I managed to kind of like stagger out to the bar area where there was a little bit of breeze from the bar, but I thought I can't really walk any further. It was almost as if I felt I'd kind of been drugged, but obviously I hadn't. And um I kind of went over, eventually managed to get over to the bar and get a half a half a pint of Diet Coke and then went and sat out sides on the steps. Um I managed to go in. I went in for the last song, danced half of it, and I was like, no, I'm just gonna have to go out again. Um and but it was just unbelievably hot. I think if I went there again, I'd probably wear a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. It's that kind of hot. And I had like a skirt on with some tights, I ended up taking the tights off. And I had like a blouse which was really light, so it wasn't as if it was, you know, anything too particularly like it wasn't wearing a jump or anything like that, but it was it was really, really hot in there. But the blue tones were really good, really, really enjoyed them, they were a great band. Uh, and then Chester Cathedral went to see Adele. Uh so did get slightly discounted tickets from work, and um appreciate that. Thank you very much. There's only there's only one perk of uh working at the NHS, and that's it pretty much. Um, so you know, and we're so we went to see Adele, and it was great. I really enjoyed, I don't really like Adele's music. For anybody that knows me, I don't like Adele. I'm known for not like I don't like Adele, not liking Adele. Um, but John loves Adele, cries his eyes out at Adele. Um music really sets off his emotions, it's great. And um, so I kind of was like, right. Uh I mean I found myself sort of dancing and singing along to them, and John's like look at me going, You don't like Adele, you're dancing to Adele. Okay. Um, but it was it was great. I really enjoyed it. And obviously it wasn't the real Adele, okay, it was um, you know, uh a cover version, but she was fantastic and her voice really carried in that cathedral, and she sounded absolutely awesome. Um, so yeah, no, I I'd recommend I'll probably go and see that again to be fair. Well, probably won't go see the same thing again, but I definitely look to go and see one with a female artist that's got like, or any male artist that's got a really great voice that carries because it was brilliant. Okay, so um, and this isn't in any particular order, by the way. And I've just realized um comedy club, okay. We went to comedy club, um, theatre clewed. It was it was really, really, it was really great. Um, we sat on the front row and we when we bought the tickets, we kind of discussed it going, well, the the cheapest seats are on the front row. I was like, well, it's a comedy. He's like, is that he's like, is that right? I was like, well, it's a comedy club, no one wants to sit on the front row. I was like, well, you don't really care, do we? No, we'll sit on the front row. And you know what? Everybody on the front row kind of got like it ripped out of them apart from my partner, and he got away with it, and I just got asked a really simple question. So I thought that was quite good actually. I think that was I think I had my scary bitch face on. Don't even think about asking me a dodgy question. Yeah, I kind of glared at him, looked him right in the eye. Hmm, yeah, come on, bring it on, mate. Come on, comedian. Let's have you. And he was like, No, I'm not taking you on. You you're a bit I did my scary, scary eye look. Yeah, resting bitch face, that's it. That's what Jack Whitehall calls it. Yeah, I kind of gave him that look. It was even more scary than that scary, scary look. Did I tell you I I stopped a herd of cows once um from stampeding. Scared the scared the crap out of the farmer. They were coming up the we were trying to get two had escaped onto the main road, so we were helping them get them back in. And the other lot started because they was all all going kicking off, they all sort of come into the gate, and I just went, stop. And they all went and the farm went, whoa. She's got a bit of presence there. There's not many people that could stop a herd of cows from stampeding the gates. She managed it. Yeah, we never had an issue with him after that. It was fun.
unknownRight anyway.
SPEAKER_00So, what else have I been doing with a pony? I've been jumping him right in the arena. It's quite good. Um, and everything's kind of held up well, you know, no particular pain. It's a little bit sore sometimes, but it's okay. So jumping the pony in the arena, um, roused him round. Um, I'm really pleased with him actually. He was a bit knackered after the 10 mile. I didn't do it the same day the next day, but he was still a little bit tired. So um, yeah, but it was it was really good, and it's the most I think I've ever jumped him, um, if I'm honest. Again, no credit to me for getting him going. This is all credit to Jane and Lottie, Jane's daughter, um, for getting him jumping for me. Really, really appreciated. It's been a team effort, there's massively so, and I just put my leg on and kind of go over. And then um took it one step further, and there's a kind of couple of logs out and about. So uh popped over those as well. And there was one that he did a super jump over, so uh just really pleased with him actually can you know kind of baby steps. I feel like you know, really sort of making progress, which is absolutely fantastic. So uh one thing that did happen though, and we stayed over at mine over the weekend, and um I got I got I got a video okay from my neighbour. My neighbour is awesome. Do you know what? I wish everyone could have a neighbour like her because she's just fantastic. And um, yeah, she said she sent a video of a little bit of water trickling down my drain saying, I think someone's left the tap on in the bathroom, but it's only a tiny amount. But I know you've got a meter which I haven't actually, I couldn't have one fitted. That's another story. It's just no, that's an ongoing saga. But um, so I was like, right, okay. So at that point I I thought I said, right, okay. So I pop I had to pop up from work the next night and I managed to turn it off. It just hadn't been turned off properly. And I picked up a few more things that I kind of needed, and then I said, I know I sent her a little message and saying thanks very much for spotting that, and you know, um, you know, let us know anything like that. And she's like, Yeah, you need to let me have a key so next time anything like that happens, I can pop around and just turn it off myself. And I was like, Yeah, I know. But John and I did have that conversation, so that's on the list of things to do. Um, for next time we go up there is get um my neighbour a key so that she can just check over the house and she can keep an eye on it as well because she's also my truster, she's really, really nice, and there's nothing worth nicking it anyway. Uh, right, so what else? Like, so this week, right, and this shows you the power of social media, doesn't it? Um, there was a poliocytic ovary syndrome influencer, okay, and she got it wrong. She said that you could develop increased risk of ovarian cancer with poliocystic and uh endometrial syndrome. Actually, it's an endometroid, it's a completely different type of cancer. I know it's the same sort of area but different symptoms completely. Um, and I thought, you know, this misinformation is not great because, like, for example, um, you know, it's just it just usually it's you get this is a bit technical and a bit gross, but you get bleeding with endometrial cancer is the main symptom. And with ovarian, you don't usually get anything like that. You don't get any weight loss, you just usually get bloatedness, which can be general anything, really. And there's lots of other vague random symptoms, which is why it's never picked up um particularly early. Um, so you know, it's a it just it shows you, doesn't it? The danger of um listening to social media for people who aren't qualified to talk about these things. And um, I actually corrected her, I said duh by the way, I said duh, you're wrong. It's a it's endometrial cancer. I said you've got the wrong type. Because it's important to correct people as well, isn't it? Because it is wrong. You're spreading your misinformation actually, technically. Right, so how's Pippa doing? Right, so um she's gonna have some x-rays of her spine and hips just to make sure um that she hasn't got something called hip dysplaxia um or she hasn't got something called um sorry, I'm just re I've just realised I've done a book myself. Uh actually I've should have a book myself on Monday, but anyway, we'll have to have to go and alter that. That's been the case this weekend as well. So that's two days running. I've got things booked in that are gonna clash time-wise. That's fine. Or I'm gonna be racing in a little red car like Noddy, try trying to get there in time. Female noddie. Yeah, it used to be called Penelope Pit Stop for some reason. Uh anyway, um, yeah, so Pippa's gonna have some X-rays to make sure there's nothing majorly wrong with her, and then we can rule out stuff and get some physioding. So leakage-wise, we've had one incident, and that was after she was running around like a complete loony. So that might be linked, and we haven't really seen anything else. So we'll see what happens. Pardon me, I didn't mean to burp loud on the air, but I haven't got time to re-edit that bit out, so I'm really sorry, I'll just have to apologise and continue. Yeah, okay. Right. Uh so the next thing is um now this is quite funny. It's gonna upset some people that I know and some people that I'm possibly gonna be related to at some point. Um, so I started on the on the decluttering because this house is pretty cluttered, if I'm honest. And um I said, uh, right, I said we need to and I said to Sean, I said, we need to read we need to really need to declutter. Okay, so we're gonna have some start having some work done. I said, we need to declutter, get rid of some stuff that you don't actually need. Right, okay, and he's a bit of a hoarder, right? Okay, a bit of an understatement. And um he basically uh so he's like, right, yeah, okay, then we'll have to we'll have to check with we'll have to check with the daughters, blah and blah. We'll have to check with them. It's okay. So I thought, well, why? Juan doesn't live here, she's 37, she moved out several a couple of decades ago, but hey, there we go. Um and uh the next one is uh anyway. So I thought, right, you know what? I'm just gonna do this. So I messaged the messaged the younger daughter and I said, right, uh, we need to declutter because this is gonna be happening, and there's too much stuff in that. She went, she went, yeah, that's fine, no problem. I'll let me do that. It's like, right, great. So the next day, okay, um, I was I was because I've I'm I'm allergic to dust and I was getting really, really wheezy and I've been sat and I was thinking, oh, this this you know it's really dusty and uh it needs cleaning. Um so I need to kind of get this sorted out, and I thought I'm gonna take all these ornaments off. So I took all the ornaments off, shoved them all in the washing bowl, and then you know, washed them all, left them to dry, and I thought, well, I'll put a few back. And I thought I'm not putting them all back because there's just too many of them, you know. Ornaments are fine, but there's so many of them. So I left a load of them on the sink and uh and I was just like and then and then as we came and going, Oh, the the ornaments are here, then you know, should we put them back? And they can't say there, and I was like, right, I said, Do you need them? Do you want them in your house? Uh no, but I'll need to check with blur. And I was just like, that was the daughter, and I was like, the oldest daughter, and blur. And I was just like, Well, that was the youngest daughter, blur and blur, the youngest daughters and oldest daughter. I said, Well, okay, that's okay. Then say, well, let's get that sorted out now, shall we? Should we should we put them on the table? So I then went and proceeded to get all of these little ornaments that are lying around, there's loads of them. Um, that are you know, they're not, you know, anyway. So I've got them all sort of all the table. I was like, right, why don't you decide which ones you want to keep and which ones you don't? Let's sort them out now. Let's get this one-step thing done. So uh anyway, I started the bowl rolling, um, and there was a cat's ashes in the box, and I said, What are these? He's like, it's dead cat ashes. Really? I said, Okay, I was like, okay, I said, Do you want to keep them? Like, no, but uh, such and such a mind. I was like, Well, you know, who wants to keep ashes of a dead cat? It's a dead cat, they're dead, you know. Ashes, you know, a body is something that is a vessel to contain the soul, okay? Then it moves on, then comes back. We come back as someone else or or something else. So I'm just like, you know, or person, and I'm just like, seriously, um, you know, what's with what's with the cat ashes in the bottom. I'm just like, right, anyway, um, the the oldest daughters having them, and I just I'm just like, I was just like, why? Why would you want the ashes of a dead cat on a box on your mantelpiece? I just don't get that, but anyway, that's just my personal opinion. I think sometimes you just need to let things go. And if you're, you know, but hey, you know, it's just one of those things. Oh, and that so the thing I'm gonna be doing on YouTube, okay. Um, I've done it, okay, three times. It's not quite right, right? Um, in my head it works, right? But on camera, it really, really doesn't. So I'm gonna have to redo it. But and then I've actually showed it, I was gonna do it one way, and then I thought, no, I'm not sure that's right, I'll do it another way. Um we'll do we'll do it like that. Um, so that's that's the plan for the YouTube thing. That will be coming out at some point in the next sort of month or so. Um, and then I've got some I've got some penciled into time to do some more more YouTube stuff as well. But I'd say I'm just so busy at the moment that I haven't had time to do anything really. I wanted to do some more about POCS because it is really frustrating because I had um probably I don't know if I mentioned it, but I had a few issues um where I'm just getting absolutely exhausted by eating food. It's just knackering me out. Um so you know that's it. Although the good news is I do have an appointment to check out my ear. Okay. Uh yeah, I know I'm quite quite happy with that. It's uh yeah. I'm sorry, I'll tell you I'll let you know what happens. Um, so this thing I'm gonna be doing this thing on, right? I kind of want to get it out there and want to get it chatting about it and discussing it and stuff. So it's gonna be a bit of a biggie, um, if I'm honest. Um, but you know, these things have to be discussed, don't they? Because sometimes you feel like you can't do anything about something. Um, and you kind of feel like your hands are tied behind your back and you can't, you just, you know, you you silence. But actually, there, you know, you can speak about it. You just you know, the thing that you can do is just to communicate and talk about it. And actually it was uh it's what's prompted it is all that one of my um one of my colleagues at work, um she caught she pulled me aside, she said, right, she said, What's going on with that? And I went blah blah blah. And she went, Oh my god, how are you still sane? And I and I actually missed out a big chunk of of what's been going on already, as well as addition to everything else. And she's just like, I can't, I just you know, how are you not absolutely crazy with all that going on and with all that that's happened? And I'm like, Well, do you know what I don't know, but I'm still here and I am, I'm talking about it. Um, and the thing is you can't let these things bother you. And she said, you need to share your story, okay, because then that way people will hear it and then they'll understand that you've got through it and got past it and you're okay, and so can they, and that also these things happen, um, and that you know we should have a conversation about them. We should, you know, not kind of be sidelined and hoodwinked and whatever else it is. Um, so that's what's going to be happening, okay. Uh and yeah, we'll just we'll just see what happens. We'll go with that one, but um, we'll do it in a nice way, you know, and uh it'll be fine, absolutely fine. Um, and we'll just go from there. Although uh I think I'm I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned this on one of my podcasts, and anyone that's listened to will for a while probably know. Um I think uh I think I think I've mentioned about putting your phone on aeroplane mode before. Yeah, airplane mode, whatever it is. Um, you know, if you think that you have an issue with someone stalking you, just gonna put that out there, okay, without putting anything else to do with it, you know, because uh if you put it on aeroplane mode, um then uh they can't locate you, can you? It's a good way of doing it. And I'm pretty sure I did mention that previously. So message me if if you think that's right. I'll probably get a message from a couple of relatives going, yeah, you did say that. Um so I'm just putting that out there. Okay, so I'm gonna wrap that up a little bit earlier than normal. Normally I'm kind of close to the half past mark, um, but mainly because I need to get my uh arsen gear. Um because we're heading off to um to yeah, do a party in a rather posh place. Um and I'll tell you all about that and what it is that we would do. We hopefully have a bit of a boogie. Um, yeah, the the hilarious thing is though that I will I will leave this story with you. Okay, so this is me to a T. Right. So I find two sets of contact lenses, and I'm like, right, great, I've got two sets of contact lenses, right? Brilliant. I can just use I can use those for the X thing we're going to. That's great. Because the other one was we're supposed to be doing something else on Saturday night, but it's been cancelled. So that's it's actually a relief, isn't it? We're like, oh it's been cancelled on Saturday night. Thankfully, we can just sit and watch a video because we've been so busy. Um, but so so then for some reason one's disappeared, so I only have one. I've got one contact lens, right? So I'm like, right, great, okay. So I make an appointment with a local optician, and I'm like, right, okay, and I really need these contact lenses for Friday. Obviously, we're here at Friday, I've had my eye test, there's no sign of the contact lenses arriving. Um, and I'm gonna have to have a contact lens appointment to have them fitted and stuff, so we're like, great. So um so my partner is slightly different prescription, bit stronger than mine. He's like, Well, I've got some spare contact lenses, so I'm gonna head off to this nice location, okay, wearing some contact lenses that aren't quite the right prescription for me because I just don't want to wear my glasses to this thing because it's a really posh do. And it's like it'd be like, oh my god, she's in a glass. I'll be the only person there in glasses. I can't possibly do that. So I'm like, right. But you know, if I'd have thought about it, I probably should have gone like and I knew this one thing was coming up. Like I've known about it for months, so I should have really um been a little bit more organized and booked it a couple of weeks ago. Um, but here we are, there we are.
