Devotional-Quieter of the Storm

Storms come in many forms—health crises, relationship turmoil, financial pressures—but our response to them determines whether we sink or stay afloat. Mark 4.39 says Jesus got up, rebuked the winds and said to the waves Quiet, be still. Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Be blessed, as you remember the countless ways the Lord has shown himself strong in your life. He is the God who gives endurance and encouragement, and he will continue to reveal his strength and presence to you each day. Just as Jesus rebuked the winds and waves, commanding Peace, be still, so too. Are you blessed by the one who calms the storms in your life. Recall how Jesus called Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water towards him. Peter's faith held firm until he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the storm.

Whether the Lord stills the storm or invites you to walk with him through it, know that you will remain steadfast and immovable as long as your gaze is fixed on him.

Be blessed to keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. He will come alongside you, lifting you up, strengthening you and refining you to fulfill his perfect purposes. As you navigate the storms of life, remember that Jesus is not only with you, but also for you. He has overcome the world and in him you too can overcome, trust in his sovereignty, rely on his strength and rest in his love. No storm is too great for him and no fear is too deep for his peace to reach. No matter the storm, you can stand firm under the rule and dominion of the Prince of Peace, who commands all things with authority. May you be blessed by his great faithfulness, which is new every morning, offering you fresh mercy and strength for each day. Be blessed with unwavering faith, enduring peace and the assurance that he is always with you, guiding you through every storm. Be blessed in the name of the one who bids you come to him in the midst of your storm.
