Devotional-The Resurrection Changes Everything

Elizabeth Gunter Powell and Kimberly Roddy

The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything—not just on Easter Sunday, but every single day of your life.

This powerful devotional from Elizabeth Gunter Powell unpacks how the empty tomb fundamentally transforms both who we are and how we live. The resurrection gives us a new identity, described through beautiful scriptural declarations: we are treasured, victorious, forgiven, equipped, free, beautiful, and perhaps most profoundly, known by God Himself.

Whether you're struggling with seemingly insurmountable obstacles or simply feeling the weight of everyday responsibilities, this message invites you to stop trying to navigate life in your own strength. Instead, lean into the incredible resurrection power God has already given you.

Speaker 1:

The Father's Business was founded by Sylvia Gunter to encourage people to a deeper relationship with God. Thank you for listening to this devotional. It's almost Easter Sunday, a time of reflecting on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, a time to appreciate the enormity of His sacrifice and glory in the power that raised Jesus from the dead. Sadly, as the weeks pass, the focus of Easter will be forgotten, but that's not how God designed us to live. The resurrection is more than just a historical event. The resurrection is for every day. The resurrection changes everything. The resurrection changes who you are. Ephesians 2, 6 says and God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in heavenly realms. In Christ Jesus, you have new life in Christ. Because of the resurrection, you have a new name in Christ.

Speaker 1:

There are hundreds of scriptures telling us who we are in Christ. Here's just a taste of a few. John 17 9 says that you belong to God. Isaiah 42 1 says that you are delighted in. 2 Timothy 3 17 says that you're equipped. Romans 15 7 says that you're accepted. Romans 8 2 says that you are free. 2 says that you are free. Isaiah 61 10 says that you are beautiful. Psalm 83 3 says that you are treasured. 1 Corinthians 15 57 says that you are victorious. 1 John 1 9 says that you are forgiven. John 1.9 says that you are forgiven. 1 John 5.4 and 5 says that you are an overcomer. James 1.2-4 says that you are perfect and complete. 2 Timothy 4.18 says that you're delivered. Galatians 3 13 says that you are redeemed. 1 Peter 1 23 says that you are indestructible in Christ. And probably one of my favorites 2 Timothy 2 9 says that you are known.

Speaker 1:

The resurrection changes who you are. The resurrection also is the source of power for every circumstance you're facing right now. Paul prayed in Ephesians 1, 19 and 20 that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe in him. It is that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in heaven. But do we live our life like that A lot of days? I don't. Do we live our life from a place of incredibly great power that helps those who believe him? Think of the list of things that are coming against you right now. Think of the big and scary things that you're facing and also the mundane tasks that just never seem to end. In each of those circumstances, you have access to the incredible, great power of the resurrection to help you In the midst of the struggle.

Speaker 1:

You can choose to draw on and align yourself with the power of the resurrected one. What would happen if we began each day reminding ourselves that everything in Christ's death and resurrection is at my disposal today? How would that change our perspective? The power of the resurrection is God's gift to each of us. We get to choose whether we're going to try to do it on our own or are we going to lean into all that he has given us. It's like having a very large bank account and never making a withdrawal. My prayer for each of us is that we would wake up each morning with the truth of Romans 8, 11, that the spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead is living in each of us.
