Instagram grew from 300 million users to 600 million active users heading into 2017.

How to Use Instagram Live

Found in the same place as Instagram Stories. Open Instagram, swipe right to open the camera screen, and below the shutter button select "Live," then "Start Live Video." That's it.

Side hack: Live videos disappear once finished — to keep a copy, screen-record with QuickTime, Camtasia, or ScreenFlow while broadcasting.

Ways to Use Instagram Live

Q&As, teaching a lesson or how-to, unboxing gear or products, going live at an event to bring the audience along, or conducting an interview.

The Gear

An iPhone or smartphone is all that's strictly required. Optional but recommended: Rode Smartlav+ lavalier microphone, Rode VideoMicro, Manfrotto Pixi Mini Tripod, MeFoto Sidekick 360, and a Manfrotto LED light.
