Sculpture Figurative Art with Vinnie Bagwell
Storytelling through art and history is a unique skill. Vinnie Bagwell, originally as a journalist, looked deeply into her subject matter. Then as a representational-figurative artist, she uses sculpture and traditional bas-relief techniques as visual narratives to expand her storytelling. For 30 years, she has defined herself as an American sculptor who casts in bronze. As well, she is the co-author of a book and sculptor of one of her most recent commissions "A Study of African-American Life in Yonkers From the Turn of the Century.” Vinnie is recognized for reframing public art which includes historical Black figures which has won numerous public-art commissions and awards throughout the United States. Her recent work "The Enslaved Africans' Rain Garden” includes 5 life-sized bronze statues of enslaved Africans located in Yonkers, NY.
