Gabe
What's up, fellow questers? Welcome back to another episode of I Don't Believe in Side Quests, where we love to remind you that every side quest is somebody else's main quest. I'm Gabe.
00:00:21:08 - 00:00:21:27
Lauren
I'm Lauren.
00:00:22:12 - 00:00:45:00
Gabe
And if you guys don't know Nancy Drew Season four premieres Wednesday, May 31st. We are so excited. So we decided to finish season one of the podcast with our Nancy Drew Season three review. What we've all been waiting for. But before we get into that, let's do some catch up on what's been happening this week for us. What do you.
00:00:45:00 - 00:00:47:25
Gabe
Do you have anything?
00:00:48:03 - 00:01:04:20
Lauren
One of my good twitch friends is in town, so she and I are going to get to pal around in a little twitch, meet up. So that's going to be fun. Do something fun. We're going to do an escape room with another Nancy Drew twitch streamer.
00:01:04:28 - 00:01:16:26
Gabe
I love escape rooms. I think they're so fun. I don't know. Not really. A whole lot happened this week. We've kind of just begun to do ready for spring, summer, working on the yard. Some.
00:01:17:28 - 00:01:19:24
Lauren
Was there some fun theme?
00:01:20:22 - 00:01:25:22
Gabe
Oh, you a classroom? Oh, yeah. The current one this week is Beach Day or Beach Week.
00:01:26:13 - 00:01:29:29
Gabe
Which is I actually think it's really fun.
00:01:30:09 - 00:01:33:06
Gabe
We brought in so many things for the dramatic play.
00:01:33:06 - 00:01:35:21
Lauren
They were always there as sharks. Oh, my.
00:01:35:21 - 00:01:57:02
Gabe
Gosh. Yeah, today was Shark Day. I wrote a really fun I don't know if you know who Fly Guy is. I didn't know who he was until I became in the preschool, but he, like it was a fly book about sharks. I was like, Oh my gosh, this is really interesting. There's actually a lot of stuff here about sharks that I didn't even know.
00:01:57:02 - 00:02:06:12
Gabe
And I love sharks. I love watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel or whatever it is. Yeah. And we always have it like running.
00:02:07:27 - 00:02:08:24
Gabe
On the TV.
00:02:09:18 - 00:02:16:02
Gabe
So. Yes. Oh, it's Teachers Appreciation Week this week, too. So we got to talk.
00:02:16:09 - 00:02:16:28
Gabe
Yes.
00:02:17:12 - 00:02:59:06
Lauren
A quick her interactive update we wanted to provide since we are recording this after Nancy Drew's birthday, which was a few days ago. Yes. Yes, April 28th. So her interactive hosted, they didn't make any announcements. So we'll start with that. But they posted a kind of behind the scenes of their voice actors recording lines. So again, I'm feeling very positive about where they are in the development of the game because they have designs of several, at least several locations.
00:02:59:22 - 00:03:09:20
Lauren
They have their voice actors and recording lines, and there is. So the voice actor for Nancy Drew, Brittany Cox.
00:03:09:27 - 00:03:14:14
Gabe
Yes. There you go. I was I had the clock and I was like, wait.
00:03:16:17 - 00:03:49:13
Lauren
Yes. Brittany Cox is going to be returning as Nancy Drew. And then we have a new young male character who is going to be in it. And as soon as they posted this video showing the character design and showing the voice actors, Aaron just started shipping Nancy and this new male character. And it's like, Guys, do you really think the game is going to be like that?
00:03:49:13 - 00:03:55:12
Lauren
Nancy Annette broke up. She's just going to move like, do we think this is going to be a break up game?
00:03:56:22 - 00:04:32:25
Gabe
It better not be. I know so many of you don't like Nancy, but I would truly be so devastated. I'd be so devastated. I really want a game where Nancy and then go on a case and they can actually give Ned some character development. Because, honestly, when Bess and George got the most character development, as when they became actually more involved in the games and when you could sometimes plays them and stuff and like, yes, we could kind of play as Ned in The Silent Spy or whatever our alibi matches.
00:04:33:03 - 00:04:55:06
Gabe
Yes, alibi and ashes. But it it like wasn't enough. Like it wasn't really an environment where you could have a whole lot of character growth. And so I feel like it's such a disservice to Ned because he really is kind of this same thing. Bless his soul through the whole series.
00:04:55:06 - 00:05:24:11
Lauren
Well, he's cut off. He's kind of the kin to her. Barbie, he is right. You know, the Barbie movie slogan, if she's Barbie or she, she's everything and he's can. That's kind of what they do with Nancy. Like Nancy is traveling the world. She is off being an intern or she's like in Egypt on a dig. And then that's just like being a normal 19 year old who's just like, Oh, I'm going to go to college or I'm going to go do.
00:05:24:12 - 00:05:27:05
Gabe
Yeah, he's like to go hang out.
00:05:27:18 - 00:05:27:28
Lauren
Yeah.
00:05:28:08 - 00:05:42:26
Gabe
To be fair, I think Ned's living his best life. Like, not that he doesn't miss Nancy. I would love to have more time with her in person, but, like, he's chill, and I feel like he's like, I'll live my normal life. I don't, you know, I don't care.
00:05:43:14 - 00:05:49:05
Lauren
I'm just a Salem was all about right. Yeah. All of the Ned interactions, Nancy, it's like, who is that?
00:05:49:12 - 00:05:49:29
Gabe
Oh, yeah.
00:05:49:29 - 00:06:20:23
Lauren
I talked to in the past. There's a girl there who's just like, Ned, come on and play. Don't be talking to your long distance girlfriend who you never see like, I guess it feels like, you know, that kind of trope of, like a girl who's a year younger than her, like, athlete, high school boyfriend, and then he goes off to college and she's still, like, finishing out her senior year of school or something, and she's like, We're going to stay together forever.
00:06:20:23 - 00:06:30:24
Lauren
He's going to come visit me every other weekend, and he's off doing his own thing, like he's in a different world.
00:06:31:04 - 00:06:33:11
Gabe
We were trying to be seen as. Nancy In which ones?
00:06:33:11 - 00:06:39:08
Lauren
Ned I'm saying Ned's off at college, living his own thing. And.
00:06:39:08 - 00:06:40:03
Gabe
Nancy Oh, okay.
00:06:41:03 - 00:06:46:28
Lauren
We're going to stay in a relationship. Even though our entire lives circumstances have changed.
00:06:46:28 - 00:06:59:11
Gabe
I will say we don't know how much time they do or don't spend prior to the college saying they do and don't spend together because there's not a whole lot of, I feel like actually confirmed timeline between all of the cases.
00:07:00:06 - 00:07:01:17
Lauren
Right because she doesn't age.
00:07:02:07 - 00:07:02:25
Gabe
That he.
00:07:02:27 - 00:07:05:11
Lauren
Truly has not aged yet.
00:07:06:00 - 00:07:06:16
Gabe
Yeah.
00:07:07:24 - 00:07:17:18
Lauren
Because they want to keep her in her 16, 17 and yes, it's book timeline. So like she's just not going to like that's fine, you know.
00:07:17:28 - 00:07:21:02
Speaker 3
It just it just together on the whole thing. Yeah, yeah.
00:07:21:06 - 00:07:29:20
Gabe
That doesn't really bother me, but I still think we can. There can be character growth, character development. And then I feel like is I just.
00:07:29:20 - 00:07:31:15
Speaker 3
I need. Ned needs it.
00:07:31:23 - 00:07:38:03
Gabe
Ned needs a game. Please, for the love of God, that's all I want, because I love.
00:07:38:03 - 00:07:38:12
Speaker 3
Ned.
00:07:40:02 - 00:08:15:09
Lauren
Okay. All right, we're getting into it. Season three. Yes, we did want to highlight that one thing we forgot to talk about. Season two was when we were talking about Mr. Hudson and when Nancy and Ryan were keeping him trapped up in the house and then he was able to escape. They plan for him to escape so we could go find the tape that they captured and put him in a house after Celia died.
00:08:15:20 - 00:08:43:07
Lauren
Because Nancy was convinced that Mr. Hudson Everett had killed Celia because he found out she was keeping secrets from him. Mr. Hudson did not kill Celia. We never clarified that. But Mr. Hudson didn't kill Celia. It was the group the way back that she messed with when she was helping Nancy save Ace's brother. And she, like, got the list of names back anyway.
00:08:43:07 - 00:08:45:03
Lauren
So, like, earlier in the season.
00:08:45:03 - 00:08:45:15
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:08:45:21 - 00:09:15:26
Lauren
So she so this is Hudson and like messed with the way back. And so when Everett Hudson heard that she had done that, he was like, You don't mess with those guys. Those guys are big, like big deals. It's her. It's her fault she messed with them anyway. So yeah. So he did not kill Celia. So that was one of our questions at the end of the season was like, okay, well the way back killed Nancy's grandma.
00:09:15:26 - 00:09:17:15
Speaker 3
Yeah, yes.
00:09:17:15 - 00:09:25:23
Lauren
Like, let's continue on with this spoilers. We did not. Was there a single reference to the way back? Yes.
00:09:26:03 - 00:09:48:00
Gabe
We'll get there. Yes, there was. There is. There's story. Okay. And then another thing I wanted to highlight was the guesses you made for season three was they figured out how to remove all doubt, which is true. They did figure that out. You did. Nancy is now officially a Hudson is going to be figuring out that it's complicated, run the umpire and Carson will have to figure out how to show it.
00:09:48:15 - 00:09:54:00
Gabe
So I feel like that didn't really happen in this season, but I think we're going to come back to that in the next season.
00:09:55:09 - 00:10:03:28
Lauren
It wasn't official, but near the end when they were having the estate sale, it was just like, Yeah, we're putting the finishing touches on Nancy.
00:10:04:13 - 00:10:10:18
Gabe
Like, it's nice to do your investigations, but that's not really drawing.
00:10:11:04 - 00:10:11:14
Speaker 3
Oh.
00:10:13:02 - 00:10:33:13
Lauren
But during during the estate sale, like in episode ten or something, Ryan makes a statement about how Carson and whatever are putting together the final documents or something. Yeah. Who dissolution.
00:10:34:01 - 00:10:34:18
Speaker 3
Yeah they.
00:10:34:24 - 00:10:36:10
Gabe
They talk about the trial in the.
00:10:36:15 - 00:11:01:19
Lauren
Of the final well but that's but I don't think the trial's necessarily involved in that Nancy's just I think it's a legal situation because she's donating all the Hudson's wealth to their victims. Mhm. And so I think it's just like the last little bits of getting rid of the kind of the name pieces of the empire.
00:11:03:10 - 00:11:19:13
Gabe
I guess I don't know, I kind of feel like it was just touched on. I think it's going to be a more of a factor in season four. So I was I don't know. That's up to you if you want to consider that. Right or not. And then you said, no idea what Tempus is going to do or why she's evil.
00:11:19:13 - 00:11:31:13
Gabe
I bet she starts a coven of best joined it. Okay. Technically she didn't start a coven, but she definitely like robes person. So I'm saying that was right like you had the logistics of what was going to happen.
00:11:32:18 - 00:11:44:10
Lauren
Mm. I knew best was going to be entranced by potential witchy business and if there was what genius around, she was going to be like, let me in.
00:11:44:10 - 00:11:59:03
Gabe
I can't tell if I was crazy. Did she show any magical powers prior to season three? Because it was all of a sudden like, she's not a witch and then she is a witch unless I, I don't.
00:12:00:05 - 00:12:08:07
Lauren
I don't think, sheesh. I don't think she showed power powers. But I think she showed a lot of interest.
00:12:08:14 - 00:12:10:15
Gabe
Yeah. Like affinity interest. Yeah.
00:12:10:15 - 00:12:11:17
Lauren
Yeah. Like she was.
00:12:11:17 - 00:12:11:21
Speaker 3
Really.
00:12:11:28 - 00:12:18:28
Lauren
Interested in all of the things. And then when she found her ancestor Martha's book that had spells.
00:12:18:28 - 00:12:19:07
Gabe
Other.
00:12:19:07 - 00:12:28:15
Lauren
Grimm wasn't she tried for spell to try to protect ace that does not go well. Right. And then Temperance was just like, come, my child.
00:12:28:24 - 00:12:31:17
Gabe
Right? Okay, okay. I was, I was.
00:12:31:18 - 00:12:32:16
Speaker 3
I don't I don't think she.
00:12:33:05 - 00:12:35:28
Lauren
Did any magic beforehand.
00:12:37:12 - 00:13:04:11
Gabe
Okay. I want to hear your initial thoughts on the season, but first, I want to say I was amped towards the end or I think it was just when this episode came up, I was thinking about how in the in season one review I said, Ned, what did I say that like Ned pushes people to process stuff faster than they can or need to, you know what I mean?
00:13:04:11 - 00:13:26:14
Gabe
Like he like I feel whatever I said something along those lines and then in season two, you're like, wait, I see what you mean. So like, yeah, okay. And then in this season, there's an episode where Georgie's dad sent her friend request and she basically ends up going and seeing him and having a conversation with him and all of that.
00:13:26:29 - 00:13:56:16
Gabe
And she didn't tell Nick she was going there and she kind of was like, I'm running an errand. Oh, I'm I'm at the dentist and all that. But then when she's done with it, she comes and tells him and he gets so mad that she didn't tell him she was going, No, let me search for your spine. So I don't think it's necessarily the same as what he was doing in season one, in season two.
00:13:57:09 - 00:14:21:24
Gabe
But I would have understood his anger if she had gone and told someone else but didn't tell him. But I feel like like like I can understand him getting hurt, but I feel like the anger he showed was just kind of like, why? I mean, that's like a serious trauma for George, something that affected her her whole life.
00:14:21:24 - 00:14:43:03
Gabe
And like she said, because she didn't have her dad, she sought out older men and, you know, they used and abused her. And then she was known around the town as like Horror George or something like that, she said. And I think that was so sad and tragic and like, that's such a deep thing. And to not even know if do you really want to talk to your dad when you get to the door?
00:14:43:04 - 00:15:02:06
Gabe
Are you going to go do it? What is going to happen? Is it going to be everything you wanted is everything you didn't want to happen? I can understand her not being ready to tell him and like just needing to do it herself and then come to him after. And I, I guess I wish he would have had more compassion for that.
00:15:02:17 - 00:15:06:14
Gabe
Okay, go ahead. Sorry.
00:15:06:14 - 00:15:42:03
Lauren
So in a vacuum. Yes, but I agree with him that it is a full pattern of behavior where any time anything emotional or stressful or anything like that comes up, she just says no can handle this alone goodbye and then will lie to him or admit the truth or have her friends lie to him.
00:15:42:03 - 00:15:43:03
Gabe
Yeah, that I agree with.
00:15:43:03 - 00:16:01:25
Lauren
Like he's her dad. Like, Nancy does that to Carson all the time. And so, yes, isolated incidents of like and I don't think he would have reacted that way if she hadn't done it time after time after time after time. Yes.
00:16:01:25 - 00:16:04:09
Gabe
I think the pattern part I agreed with.
00:16:05:09 - 00:16:31:06
Lauren
So I just think the pattern part of that, it's like him having a lot of stress going on in his life and then also her like just doing this again. And yeah, always about things that are really important to her. And as we talk, as we're going to talk about later, like he wants to be very involved and like what's going on with her.
00:16:31:06 - 00:17:05:19
Lauren
And I'm not saying it's right, but like if there is that pattern of not telling people, people are lying to you for things that you don't need to. And she talks to him and she's like, Well, I didn't want to hear your opinion on it, or I didn't want you to try to talk me out of it. And I just think that should be part of the conversation of just like, Hey, I'm going to go do this thing.
00:17:05:19 - 00:17:20:00
Lauren
Like, just just have the conversation of, I'm not looking for your opinion or I'm not looking for your input on this. I'm not looking for you to talk me out of this. I'm going to go do this. Can you support me?
00:17:21:15 - 00:17:43:28
Gabe
Here's my I don't know if it's a counterargument, but here's my thought on that was something that I have encountered with my dad and a lot of my male friends. And I'm not I'm not saying all males are like this, but I feel like the male brain, more often than not, is kind of wired to to be a problem solver.
00:17:44:14 - 00:18:01:11
Gabe
So when you go and tell them something, it's like they can't help it, especially or my dad does this to me all the time. I'm like, Dad, I just wanted you to listen to me. I don't need you to saw my problems. I just need you to listen and, like, smile and wave. Okay? Be the penguin. Madagascar. Madagascar, penguin.
00:18:02:04 - 00:18:25:20
Gabe
You're meant to be. And so I do think she could have talked to him about it. I'm not saying I agreed with her not doing it, but I could understand where she was coming from. And I agree that the pattern is an issue. I mean, that's a red flag. Like, is the pattern ever going to break? I will say I think she she's grown a lot.
00:18:26:05 - 00:18:45:06
Gabe
So I feel like that's helpful. She had progress, but I could see her mindset being like, you know, he's just going to try problem solve this for me or he's not going to help, like he's going to want to give his opinion or whatever. But yeah, I just had to bring.
00:18:45:06 - 00:18:47:06
Lauren
That out really.
00:18:47:06 - 00:19:11:02
Gabe
I think this might have been my favorite season so far. I, I really enjoyed, I think every episode I feel like there is an episode or two in like season one in season two where I just kind of especially season two is that the one where we talked about there's all the fluff episodes. It felt like the one.
00:19:11:02 - 00:19:14:06
Speaker 3
Yes, yeah, yeah. Well, yeah.
00:19:14:14 - 00:19:31:15
Lauren
I loved I loved like a little one off mystery that they would go unsolved right. It would have a breadcrumb. And that was always really, really fun. This episode or this season was shorter by five episodes than previous seasons. True. It was a little more of a condensed storyline.
00:19:33:00 - 00:19:58:09
Gabe
That's true. I guess it's so hard because I feel like shows back in the day, right? You get the 20 plus episode seasons right? And so it was like two seasons within a season you have like the first half and then you had the second half and it it was kind of okay when there was one. There's still enough progression that you weren't like, okay.
00:19:58:23 - 00:20:28:08
Gabe
So I enjoyed the one offs in the second season, but I felt like there was a lot of them where they're like, they're like, you said, breadcrumbs, but it wasn't enough progression. I feel like in this one we had a very firm path of like what was going to happen and we followed it. And I think they could could've added, sure, they could have added a couple more episodes and we could have had like we have the hidden Staircase episode kind of that played right.
00:20:28:08 - 00:20:32:03
Gabe
I loved that. I feel like they could have they definitely could have added more of that.
00:20:33:21 - 00:20:35:07
Speaker 3
But it kind of.
00:20:35:24 - 00:20:42:13
Gabe
I feel like part of it is now I feel tainted by all these seasons that are like condensed eight episodes. Like, that's like the new thing.
00:20:43:10 - 00:20:44:04
Lauren
Yeah.
00:20:44:04 - 00:20:45:27
Gabe
And I want like, go ahead.
00:20:47:00 - 00:20:52:24
Lauren
I, I love the episodes because you learn something about the characters.
00:20:53:01 - 00:20:54:14
Gabe
That's true.
00:20:54:14 - 00:20:54:27
Lauren
That's when you.
00:20:54:27 - 00:20:55:19
Gabe
Get the girls.
00:20:56:21 - 00:21:04:27
Lauren
Right. The writers end and you get growth and you learn things about the characters that aren't imperative to the plot.
00:21:05:26 - 00:21:06:05
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:21:06:12 - 00:21:48:18
Lauren
Yeah. The writers keep things so tight with all of these episodes, like, I always take a lot of notes for the episodes, but truly every single scene, every scene is typically like 2 minutes long. And yeah, there's a quick little argument or discussion or dialog between characters, or you watch a character do something, but it's quick. Like it happens and then you move on because there's so many inter moving plot points and pieces and characters you have to learn about and things you have to see.
00:21:49:02 - 00:22:15:22
Lauren
And having some quote unquote slower episodes just allows you to like, relax and enjoy the missed worry that they're finding out and get the on beyond sort of an asylum or take them slowly as they kind of learn. And you get to see how their minds work and you get to see how they interact that only doing things that are driving the plot.
00:22:16:07 - 00:22:17:26
Lauren
MM You just miss out.
00:22:17:26 - 00:22:18:21
Speaker 3
On some of that.
00:22:19:17 - 00:22:43:25
Gabe
I think part of the problem was I think the previous seasons had a longer time frame of everything happened in kind of like, I know season two. The first two episodes happened in super short time span because you had the lake and all that and like that was kind of a short time span. But then the rest of it I think was longer.
00:22:44:07 - 00:23:12:22
Gabe
And this whole season I think took place in like two weeks or maybe even less than that. And so and it was 13 episodes, so honestly, like each episode was like a day. And I wonder if that's kind of why I kind of feel like in season four they don't go back to having some fluff episodes. I don't know.
00:23:12:22 - 00:23:26:15
Gabe
I feel like maybe it's because Temperance was such an intense character and like she was like, I need to get she was driving things. She really was. So I wonder if that was part of it too.
00:23:27:25 - 00:23:54:16
Lauren
I, I don't know. I mean it in season one, we had two main murders that we were solving and then had to go off and like do kind of smaller mysteries that tied into the murders in season two. We were finishing up like solving the lake, just learning about mystical forces that we kind of started learning about in season one.
00:23:54:16 - 00:23:55:01
Lauren
And then.
00:23:55:01 - 00:23:58:09
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:23:58:09 - 00:24:01:03
Gabe
Season two was like, all lower. It was all lower.
00:24:01:03 - 00:24:03:09
Speaker 3
There were more back history.
00:24:03:22 - 00:24:14:14
Gabe
Yep, history. The white ladies. The history of yeah, history of the town, history of the people. It was just like more.
00:24:14:14 - 00:24:22:28
Lauren
And then season three was, I don't know if we want to hit the summary right now, but we should do the summary.
00:24:22:28 - 00:24:34:13
Gabe
Okay. Yeah. Before we do that, we've oh, we finally got to see the young Carson Ryan episode I was talking about. I love that episode so much. You know what? They become young again.
00:24:34:14 - 00:24:34:28
Speaker 3
But yeah.
00:24:35:12 - 00:24:54:24
Gabe
Yes, I love that episode so much watching. And I was like, there's such a little essay. It's and then the dream episode was the the best mobile and she's like, Yeah, strap in. I got it. And they're.
00:24:54:24 - 00:24:56:14
Speaker 3
Like, Don't, you're like, Take.
00:24:56:14 - 00:24:57:09
Gabe
The wheel. She's like.
00:24:57:09 - 00:24:58:15
Speaker 3
Don't touch my wheel.
00:24:59:27 - 00:25:00:15
Gabe
I love that.
00:25:00:15 - 00:25:00:22
Speaker 3
One.
00:25:01:22 - 00:25:03:10
Lauren
Mm. Um.
00:25:04:13 - 00:25:06:25
Gabe
Were there any big likes or just likes you want to?
00:25:07:00 - 00:25:53:03
Lauren
Sure. There's an episode where there's a party, and Beth's accidentally gives everyone a potion or something that forces them to tell the truth. And so there's just a ton of truths that just get spilled out because for once, the characters cannot sit around keeping secrets from each other. And it was so fun, it was so cathartic. It was a little horny because Nancy and this guy, profiler, get it on in a coat room after we've been watching tensions fly and spark between them all season.
00:25:53:03 - 00:26:11:28
Lauren
Best or George and Ned tell each other how they really feel about their relationship. Yeah. Anyway, there were just a lot of it was just cathartic for me to be like, finally, now you have to be honest with each other. Thank God.
00:26:12:23 - 00:26:16:06
Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah. Um.
00:26:17:00 - 00:26:20:00
Gabe
Do you maybe want to talk about the beginning of the season?
00:26:20:00 - 00:27:02:13
Lauren
Yeah. So at the beginning of episode one for season three is Nancy has stepped into her role as the final person in the Hudson empire, and she's taking on the leadership of this big town festival that they have every single year. And there's like a corn maze. And we're in September. And I think it's been a couple weeks since they brought her back and she since the end of season two, I think it's been a couple of weeks since she announced she was a Hudson.
00:27:02:29 - 00:27:31:16
Lauren
She got rid of the demon, ever got arrested, all of that stuff. And so they she's at this festival. She's being interviewed about it. They're asking her some questions and she's just like, okay, I'm Hudson, I'm getting rid of the empire by and the whole gang and they're having fun. Everyone's packing up because the festival hasn't started yet.
00:27:31:16 - 00:27:54:20
Lauren
It's going to start. Nancy goes into the cornfield and there are some weird scarecrows that are kind of creepy and all about. And then she finds the body of somebody with their heart or their chest cavity frozen and their heart has been pulled out.
00:27:54:20 - 00:27:55:01
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:27:55:09 - 00:28:09:11
Lauren
And then it goes into the Nancy Drew, like just the intro music and whatever. But yeah, so that the first 4 minutes of the season, it was like, all right, okay.
00:28:09:21 - 00:28:10:23
Speaker 3
It's intense.
00:28:11:12 - 00:28:25:01
Gabe
There's intensity, there's a yeah, because that's, that's what launches the whole season is trying to figure out who is who is freezing and stealing hearts.
00:28:25:01 - 00:28:25:15
Lauren
Um.
00:28:26:06 - 00:28:32:03
Gabe
What are temperance is real intentions. Is she good? Is she bad? Because Bess initially thinks go ahead.
00:28:32:10 - 00:28:40:03
Lauren
Yeah. If you don't remember, Temperance is Nancy's great original ancestor.
00:28:40:10 - 00:28:42:29
Gabe
Now it's seven generations between them.
00:28:43:00 - 00:28:50:26
Lauren
Yeah, yeah, I know. But, like, she's. She's an aunt or something. She's some relative from seven generations ago. We know how she's.
00:28:50:26 - 00:28:56:26
Gabe
I think it's direct. It's direct. I think it's a direct line.
00:28:56:26 - 00:29:32:04
Lauren
I have some follow up questions on that. But okay. Yeah. So Nancy's ancestor from seven generations ago, who Nancy accidentally revived with her blood at the end of last season. And so Temperance is just like back to her former glory. And she's a very powerful witch who had to wait for seven generations before she could break a barrier to come back into town and is now in town and starting up some mischief and the gang is like, hmm, okay.
00:29:32:15 - 00:29:55:23
Lauren
This will be good though. Yes. There's a lot of mistrust going on with her early on and different characters over time. Either trust her more or distrust her. She's teaching Bess how to be a witch, and then Bess loses trust with her right at the same time, Nancy is starting to be like, Wow, she's helped me out with some things, so maybe I'll like her more.
00:29:55:27 - 00:30:21:24
Lauren
So there's a whole like, what is she planning? What is she trying to do? She's always two steps ahead of us. Oh, my goodness. And so finding the Frozen Hearts killer is the more or less the first half of the season. And then we know enough about that. We find a human who was working alongside of a magical creature was kind of copycatting it.
00:30:22:16 - 00:30:53:22
Lauren
And so we kind of say, okay, so we just have this serial killer who's doing that great. That's a separate thing. But then we have a mystical creature whose being very particular and specific about the Harts. He's freezing out as the hearts. He's freezing out contain pieces of the soul of temperance. His daughter, Charity and Temperance wants all the pieces of the soul so she can form a key to open a seal to the underworld.
00:30:54:26 - 00:31:08:06
Lauren
And so now we're just trying to stop temperance from doing that, as she, again, is all steps ahead of us. And so that is the second half of the season.
00:31:08:06 - 00:31:17:00
Gabe
I guess maybe she wouldn't be a direct descendant because I, I think we can assume charity didn't have a baby.
00:31:17:00 - 00:31:19:03
Speaker 3
That was my thinking.
00:31:20:06 - 00:31:22:11
Lauren
That she was 18 when she died.
00:31:23:18 - 00:31:24:19
Speaker 3
Right?
00:31:25:06 - 00:31:30:04
Lauren
Sure. I guess means nothing but I feel like.
00:31:30:06 - 00:31:32:00
Gabe
Temperance never talked about.
00:31:32:00 - 00:31:33:03
Speaker 3
Siblings.
00:31:34:08 - 00:31:34:21
Lauren
Right.
00:31:35:03 - 00:31:35:15
Gabe
So?
00:31:36:27 - 00:31:44:08
Lauren
So that's why I think she's like an aunt or something. Like she could be a relative. Like if she had a brother.
00:31:45:00 - 00:31:49:22
Gabe
Let's say she didn't talk about siblings though, so she could have had them, but she never talked about them.
00:31:50:24 - 00:31:56:15
Lauren
I don't know. Likely she had a like a brother then she had a son that she didn't talk about.
00:31:57:08 - 00:32:02:05
Gabe
Right as best, probably as probably true.
00:32:02:22 - 00:32:16:06
Lauren
It's not impossible that she had a son, but I feel like we kind of we would have spent more time being like, oh, yeah, well, her son could have, you know, been involved. And I don't know.
00:32:16:28 - 00:32:44:01
Gabe
That's that's okay. So basically the season culminates to the final episode and the Drew crew has come together to save Ace's life. Because I don't know if you said this. I was listening, but I was trying to figure it out. Okay, because Ace is contains the last piece of Charity's soul. So they fake a truce with temperance while Ryan pursues a hatchet that can supposedly kill witches.
00:32:45:03 - 00:32:57:13
Gabe
And it turns out Temperance knew all along what they were probably going to do. And so she killed Copper Head for his three pieces of charity. And then with the fourth piece in her Cup.
00:32:57:21 - 00:33:10:16
Lauren
Copperhead is the mystical creature that has been killing the other people. They get their pieces on charity soul. And he also was Charity's husband and working with charity to split her soul so Temperance couldn't get at it.
00:33:11:18 - 00:33:14:27
Gabe
Yes. I'm sorry. I thought you said that was what you were talking about.
00:33:15:19 - 00:33:17:13
Speaker 3
Now. Okay. Yes.
00:33:17:13 - 00:33:34:08
Gabe
So with all the pieces, she's able to finally complete her plan. Which is it? So I know she wants to open the veil, but it's also to revive charity right now. Or is it just to use charity to open the veil?
00:33:35:04 - 00:33:40:29
Lauren
Charity? She turned charity into a key. Who could open the veil?
00:33:41:06 - 00:33:43:29
Gabe
That's right. So it is just essentially to use charity to get.
00:33:44:00 - 00:33:45:21
Speaker 3
Just her soul. Yeah.
00:33:45:21 - 00:33:56:27
Gabe
All right. Okay. Okay. Yeah. And so at the youth center, Ryan throws a hatchet at temperance and kind of like a last ditch effort. And temperance is like.
00:33:57:05 - 00:33:57:28
Speaker 3
How your.
00:34:00:08 - 00:34:15:19
Gabe
And it doesn't happen. But the Nancy's able to kill her with it supposedly and a shard from the magical hatchet gets dislodged inside no society inside of right.
00:34:15:24 - 00:34:16:06
Speaker 3
Go ahead.
00:34:17:05 - 00:34:19:22
Lauren
Yeah. Launched, I guess.
00:34:19:22 - 00:34:20:03
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:34:21:18 - 00:34:29:26
Lauren
The main thing is, is that they killed Temperance in the first 10 minutes of the show or if the episode.
00:34:29:26 - 00:34:30:13
Speaker 3
Oh yeah.
00:34:30:13 - 00:34:37:05
Lauren
Is this 10 minutes of the episode that Nancy has beaten their final boss?
00:34:38:00 - 00:34:38:28
Speaker 3
Mm hmm.
00:34:38:28 - 00:34:50:05
Lauren
And then 12 minutes in, Ryan dies from the hatchet being lodged in his neck. The magical hatchet. And then.
00:34:50:16 - 00:34:52:23
Speaker 3
Yeah, go ahead. Yeah.
00:34:53:24 - 00:35:04:15
Gabe
Well, Tavis, because it's in there, but then because of the evacuation, there's also just nobody there to help and like, they don't know what to do and they're freaking out. And he yeah. He dies.
00:35:04:20 - 00:35:05:03
Speaker 3
Go ahead.
00:35:06:08 - 00:35:28:26
Lauren
And they're evacuating because Temperance, as she's opening up the OR she's bypassing the veil or whatever it's launching into this quadrant, that Genesis, new genesis, which is basically bringing out a whole bunch of natural disasters. And it's really just like going to remake the world.
00:35:29:06 - 00:35:30:03
Gabe
Right? That doesn't.
00:35:30:03 - 00:35:30:14
Lauren
Ending the.
00:35:30:14 - 00:35:50:11
Gabe
World. That doesn't happen yet. In the first part. In the first part, they start to get there. But she doesn't actually get to opening the veil. Nancy kills her before that can happen. But they had already been working on the evacuation in case they didn't succeed.
00:35:50:11 - 00:35:51:29
Lauren
Got everyone evacuated?
00:35:52:04 - 00:35:54:00
Speaker 3
Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:35:54:00 - 00:35:56:03
Lauren
They were successful in the evacuation.
00:35:56:13 - 00:35:59:21
Speaker 3
Right. But not they didn't need it. Okay. Yes.
00:36:00:00 - 00:36:34:01
Gabe
No, it's okay. And right. So Ryan dies. Nancy becomes a hermit for a month in her grief until finally she kind of goes and reconnects with everyone and specifically reconnects with Ace. And they finally have their bliss, their moment. It's so beautiful. And then Ace Freak and dies in her arms. And I remember the first time I watched it, the anguish I felt I was so pissed off so angry.
00:36:34:24 - 00:36:52:25
Lauren
The entire time that they were in bed and just happy. I was like waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was like, No, Nancy doesn't get to be happy. That's not how this like, what on earth is going to be happening now that is going to ruin it.
00:36:52:25 - 00:36:54:14
Gabe
Yeah. So yeah, that's.
00:36:54:16 - 00:36:55:18
Lauren
Not going to be happy.
00:36:56:10 - 00:37:14:25
Gabe
The other shoe does drop and it's temperance and she kind of walks into the moment and reveals that this is all been a dream due to a failsafe she had implanted in Nancy's head earlier in the season. I think it was in like the beginning of the season. Yeah. So now so now.
00:37:14:25 - 00:37:41:05
Lauren
We're halfway through the episode. So the first 10 minutes we killed her and then there was 20 minutes of Nancy. In this dream world, just like living, there's 10 minutes, 10 minutes of that, 10 minutes of her dream world. And now we're halfway through the episode, and we realize that all of this dreamland has happened, like in a frozen time, split second.
00:37:41:05 - 00:37:48:10
Lauren
So Nancy is not killed, Temperance, yet. We are back. We are back to right where Nancy kills Temperance.
00:37:48:21 - 00:37:49:01
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:37:49:06 - 00:38:19:09
Gabe
Yeah. She's a second away from killing Temperance. And unfortunately. Well, okay. So Temperance didn't doesn't plant the curse yet. But I did write Temperance planted a curse that would take Ace's life as Nancy ever acted on her feelings for him. So technically, she hasn't placed it yet. But she will if Nancy kills her. You're right. So initially, Nancy makes a gut reaction to not kill her because of her feelings for Ace, and they run away.
00:38:19:17 - 00:38:41:23
Gabe
And then Temperance is able to open the veil and we see the huge tidal wave begin to flood the city. And that's where you like. Yeah. You see all of this and what the new genesis is going to mean and this causes, I would say, Nancy's more selfless nature to prevail. She sacrifices her future with Ace to save the city, and she goes and kills Temperance.
00:38:41:23 - 00:39:02:14
Gabe
So that was our big finale. Final Boss Fight with Temperance. And before we get to the rest of what happens in that episode, I think the next important thing to talk about is in the first episode, Temperance is like, do you want to play a game? And they're like, No compulsion.
00:39:03:08 - 00:39:04:22
Speaker 3
Yeah, right, right.
00:39:05:00 - 00:39:24:29
Gabe
And she pulls out these tarot cards and does a reading for all of them. So I'll initially say the whole thing and it's one of you will be the other's demise. One of you will forsake what is dearest to you. One of you will betray your true love. One of you will lose your heart. One of you will wreak havoc on this town, and one of you will fulfill your destiny.
00:39:24:29 - 00:39:27:02
Gabe
And that one will cause the rest to fall.
00:39:27:23 - 00:39:42:07
Lauren
So everyone in the room was the main five. Nancy George Bass. Ned Ace and Ryan was there with them. We spent a lot of time with Ryan and this season.
00:39:42:18 - 00:39:45:18
Gabe
He got such huge character development. I was so happy for him.
00:39:45:28 - 00:39:51:04
Lauren
Everyone did. This was such a growth month for them.
00:39:51:15 - 00:39:56:07
Speaker 3
Two weeks was two weeks. It was wild.
00:39:56:07 - 00:40:02:21
Gabe
But I felt like that was able to happen because the first two seasons are a bunch of buildup. And so then finally we can actually have these breakthroughs.
00:40:03:10 - 00:40:06:23
Speaker 3
But okay, I'm a little off.
00:40:08:02 - 00:40:27:25
Gabe
My initial thought to one of you will be other's demise. Is Nancy killing Temperance? But I guess that doesn't make sense because Temperance isn't one of them now that I think about it. So then my other thought was, is it because Aces becomes Nancy demise with the curse? And she's also technically kind of his demise with the curse.
00:40:27:25 - 00:40:28:20
Gabe
Like, is that.
00:40:30:18 - 00:40:32:18
Lauren
Why would it be Nancy's demise?
00:40:32:18 - 00:40:40:00
Gabe
Sorry, because of the curse of Nancy ever does anything ace, ace or die.
00:40:40:25 - 00:40:42:11
Lauren
Or answer would be aces demise.
00:40:43:14 - 00:41:05:05
Gabe
Yes, but it's also kind of vise versa because. Because of the curse, Nancy's like sad and miserable. I mean, we see her crying at and having that whole conversation with Carson because, like, she's like that's like my soul mate and all of that. So it's, it's kind of like a double edged sword. Like, I feel like they're each other's demise.
00:41:06:21 - 00:41:11:15
Gabe
I don't know. What did did you think there was any other demises? I don't.
00:41:16:17 - 00:41:25:02
Lauren
Know. I, I agree. I think. Well, when they were first talking the tarot cards.
00:41:25:10 - 00:41:25:21
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:41:26:21 - 00:41:31:05
Lauren
The last one. One of you will fulfill your destiny and that one will cause the rest to fall.
00:41:31:08 - 00:41:32:20
Gabe
I thought that was Nancy.
00:41:33:25 - 00:41:34:15
Speaker 3
Well, that was.
00:41:34:15 - 00:41:52:05
Lauren
The whole top, like Temperance when she was talking to Nancy, she referenced that. And when talking to her and being like, one of you will fulfill your destiny. So it was very much just like, Oh, that's going to be Nancy. And I was like, Because you're telling me it's going to be Nancy. I don't believe you.
00:41:52:16 - 00:41:52:27
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:41:53:19 - 00:41:59:11
Lauren
I did not know. I kind of got to be Ryan.
00:42:00:21 - 00:42:07:01
Gabe
Yeah. Okay. So for the demise every second with the the Nancy.
00:42:07:04 - 00:42:08:23
Lauren
It's Nancy telling Ace. Yeah.
00:42:09:06 - 00:42:25:08
Gabe
Okay. One of you will forsake what is tears to you. So I definitely think it's neck and I, I don't know if it's like a two part thing, boy. So he's going to leave the youth center and he's going to go to Florida.
00:42:25:08 - 00:42:26:23
Lauren
But he's not going to Florida.
00:42:26:25 - 00:42:33:28
Gabe
No, he is in a month. Came up. Yeah but he said he was staying for a month and then he's going to Florida. So he still.
00:42:33:28 - 00:42:35:08
Lauren
Says.
00:42:35:08 - 00:42:36:04
Speaker 3
Yeah and he did.
00:42:36:12 - 00:42:42:06
Lauren
He did sell the ring.
00:42:42:06 - 00:42:53:17
Gabe
Right. So then my second part was Nick forsaking George. And that was let's say though Nick sold the ring when George asked him to keep it. The wedding ring.
00:42:54:16 - 00:43:13:24
Lauren
Yeah. Well, yeah, I think for sake. Yeah, the wedding, the engagement ring, the symbol of their love. Yeah, that's what I think. Because he sold it so that he could have the money to repair something around the youth center.
00:43:13:24 - 00:43:20:04
Gabe
Oh, that's why they showed him doing that. I was in the conversation.
00:43:20:04 - 00:43:23:04
Lauren
He was just like, Yeah, I sold something that was really precious to me.
00:43:23:26 - 00:43:38:05
Gabe
I don't really remember hearing that part. I just remember him talking about doing stuff. And I was and like they were talking about filling in the concrete and I was like super confused about that concrete guy. That makes more sense. Okay, now concrete.
00:43:38:05 - 00:44:00:01
Lauren
Guy was like, Yeah, that's going to be pretty expensive. And he was just or he was just like, Oh, he was asking about how Nick had the money to do it or whatever. And Nicholas, like, yeah, I came into some money. I saw something that was really important to me and the guy was like, Oh, I'm sorry. So yeah, so that's, that was my interpretation of what was going on.
00:44:00:13 - 00:44:30:08
Gabe
Now that makes sense because. Right. So another thing to say is in the last episode at towards the end, we hear Nancy hearing she finds the tarot cards again and she's hearing temperance is prophecy, prediction, reading, whatever you want to call it. And then as she reads the line, it flashes to a scene and that's right you like it flashes to the of the conversation between the concrete guy and Nick so that makes sense.
00:44:30:08 - 00:44:32:19
Gabe
Yes, I agree. Okay. I was a.
00:44:32:19 - 00:44:33:01
Speaker 3
Little.
00:44:34:03 - 00:44:39:23
Gabe
Confused about that one because like we see the you said yes, that makes sense. Okay. And we don't.
00:44:39:23 - 00:44:44:03
Lauren
Know what he saw that was so precious to him until we're in the next scene.
00:44:44:15 - 00:45:08:04
Gabe
Right. And so it's one of you will betray your true love. And it shows George is talking about becoming a lawyer like what you need to take. Right. And she sees the store window and it's the wedding ring. So I added in the OR because Nick sold the ring when George asked him to keep it. But I was like, it can't be Nick.
00:45:08:04 - 00:45:23:06
Gabe
Like, I know it's George. George is the one who portrayed her true love, and I'm assuming it's because of the truth episode and like, how that just was like a grenade thrown into their relationship.
00:45:23:27 - 00:46:02:06
Lauren
And so during the, during the truth telling party, George and Ned had it out and George was like, You started dating me because you wanted to save me. Like you love me. Yes, but you wanted to save me. You want to save everyone around you so you don't have to focus on fixing yourself. And they were saying some hard truths to each other, but because of the truth thing, when she had to ask, Did you start?
00:46:02:06 - 00:46:42:19
Lauren
Do you need to save me? He had to say yes. Like the truth forced him, forced them both to be honest about what they were feeling and ask each other those hard, hard question ends. And it was like, I'm so sorry you guys have to do it this way. And I'm so sorry. That means that you have to break up because now and Beth Best was or George also during that time like admitted that she's worried that they're.
00:46:42:19 - 00:46:43:11
Gabe
Settling.
00:46:44:03 - 00:47:03:26
Lauren
That that they're settling for each other and just that like they both have so much trauma that they both kind of like fell into each other to be each other's stability. And she's like, I don't I don't know. That makes sense.
00:47:04:10 - 00:47:20:00
Gabe
Her whole speech about being plants intertwined and fighting for sun and water was like, I cried. I was I was so proud of her. I felt like this is where she showed the most growth she's had. It was that.
00:47:20:20 - 00:47:21:09
Speaker 3
They.
00:47:21:25 - 00:47:24:05
Gabe
What why did you shake your head?
00:47:24:05 - 00:47:27:19
Lauren
Oh, no, I fully agree. Oh, it's just. Oh, no. You said it was like.
00:47:27:24 - 00:47:28:10
Speaker 3
A sign.
00:47:28:29 - 00:47:35:21
Gabe
That they needed to grow together before they intertwined.
00:47:36:08 - 00:47:38:15
Speaker 3
And I.
00:47:39:23 - 00:47:50:04
Gabe
I don't know if that necessarily means they had to break up. I think they definitely needed to not get married, but I don't think that needed to happen.
00:47:50:04 - 00:47:50:27
Speaker 3
But I think.
00:47:51:15 - 00:48:11:02
Lauren
They are going to get back in season four. I think the end game. Yeah and I think they both are going to like find some stability within themselves and within their own existences.
00:48:11:02 - 00:48:11:26
Speaker 3
Yes, I agree.
00:48:11:26 - 00:48:42:20
Lauren
And be willing to start again. I don't know if they're going to get into a relationship or like at the end of season four. We just like willing to try again. That's what I want. I want them both to be like, you know, rebuilding themselves in their relationship and then at the end of season four, I'd be like, I want I want Ned or George, and I want one of them to like ask the other one out again and for it to just be kind of like.
00:48:43:11 - 00:49:09:08
Gabe
I feel like no cast to do it and not because he's the guy. But I, I think in that point he's the one who needs the most healing. So I feel like it has to be him who's like, okay, I'm ready. I'm going to go forward to what happens. I will say what you're saying about when she said you were with me to save me or whatever, and he said, yes.
00:49:10:12 - 00:49:22:09
Gabe
I feel like that was why I initially did not like the relationship in season one. And if you'd asked me why, I don't think I could have specifically worded that. But then when she said it, I was like.
00:49:23:02 - 00:49:25:21
Speaker 3
Yeah, yeah.
00:49:25:22 - 00:49:26:24
Lauren
I am Nancy.
00:49:27:07 - 00:49:33:00
Speaker 3
Yeah. And I was like, That's. Is that why it gave me the itch? I don't know.
00:49:33:01 - 00:49:36:05
Gabe
It wasn't that it, but I just like it. Didn't like it. It bothered.
00:49:36:05 - 00:49:36:12
Speaker 3
Me.
00:49:37:19 - 00:49:49:10
Lauren
Yeah. You want to save everyone else so you don't have to deal with your own problems. And then Nick just walks away. She's like, Stop running away from me. Like you do everything else. Like I.
00:49:51:00 - 00:49:53:26
Speaker 3
Buy this. She rob? No.
00:49:54:17 - 00:50:24:09
Lauren
And then he turns around, he goes, Did you ever love me? And she goes desperately. But you know, that will never compare to the fantasy you built to deal with your own trauma. And I was like crying, I'm crying. And then immediately after that, we get whiplash because George is just like, Oh yeah. And then we get back to Nancy in a coat closet, and the profiler comes in, they start making out, and then he just, like, goes down on her.
00:50:24:09 - 00:50:27:25
Lauren
And I was like, Okay, all right, it's happening.
00:50:27:28 - 00:50:42:20
Gabe
Or made it so hard to believe that there's so true. Like the things she said were so totally true. But they were just said in such a blunt way, because you have to be honest. I mean, there's.
00:50:42:20 - 00:50:44:26
Speaker 3
No there's no parts.
00:50:44:26 - 00:50:47:25
Lauren
Just raw feelings going on.
00:50:47:25 - 00:50:48:07
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:50:49:11 - 00:51:09:27
Gabe
Okay. One of you will lose your heart. I feel like we all thought when the initial reveal that Ace has a piece of charity was, oh, you know, he's going to lose his heart physically because of the, you know, the copperhead. But obviously it's a loss. Nancy, because of the curse and all that bullshit we can.
00:51:10:06 - 00:51:16:22
Lauren
Yeah. In the second to last episode, Ace had finally told Nancy how he felt about her.
00:51:16:23 - 00:51:29:27
Gabe
The next one is, I think we can say unanimously that it's his last, Nancy. So then the next one is one of you will wreak havoc on this town. And that's obviously Bess when she placed the spell on everyone.
00:51:29:27 - 00:51:33:10
Speaker 3
But also prior to that pass. Yeah, I knew.
00:51:33:10 - 00:51:41:05
Lauren
Bassett's going to be the one wreak havoc on the town. I was like, one. Your little miss to cast spells is going to do something well.
00:51:41:06 - 00:52:08:15
Gabe
And she'd had misfires even before that one. But that was the one where it just affected everyone. Yeah. So that yeah. I feel like this is also going to be Bess in season four, for better or for worse. And then one of you will fulfill your destiny. And that one will cause the rest to fall. Right. So it seemed like it was going to be, Nancy.
00:52:08:15 - 00:52:28:00
Gabe
But I also agree with you where I was like, I can't be Nancy, though, right? Like it's so it's a red herring. And I actually kind of thought, Ryan, to based off of the other ones, I just felt like they didn't really fit with Ryan. So I was like, Well, as a Hudson, I, I was thinking about the quote, wherever.
00:52:28:00 - 00:52:33:07
Gabe
It's like, Damn, I hope you outrun the family curse and avoid a gruesome demise. And I was like, Well, I.
00:52:33:07 - 00:52:36:19
Speaker 3
Kind of feels like, sorry, you go.
00:52:36:19 - 00:52:37:20
Gabe
For Yosef ahead.
00:52:38:08 - 00:52:44:20
Lauren
The only other prophecy that I thought Ryan would be good for is the one of you will forsake what is dearest to you.
00:52:44:20 - 00:52:45:27
Gabe
Oh, Nancy, I.
00:52:46:06 - 00:53:16:27
Lauren
Thought yes, I thought Ryan was going to do something to like try to, you know, make himself better or whatever that would end up making Nancy turn against him like early on or midway through the season. There's a rich friend of Ryan's who comes up and is just like, Hey, like, I want to donate to the community center and I want to do all these things.
00:53:17:14 - 00:53:43:18
Lauren
And Ryan wants like the status and it's just kind of like we could, we could make this work, but the whole rest of the gang is against it for good reasons. Yeah. I didn't know if Ryan was going to try to, like, make the deal and, like, just try to do better things. But yeah, I could see Ryan making choices.
00:53:43:18 - 00:53:53:01
Lauren
That was with good intentions, but that Nancy would find unforgivable because it hurt somebody she cared about right.
00:53:53:01 - 00:53:53:10
Speaker 3
So.
00:53:54:20 - 00:54:05:02
Gabe
Right. So when she says this one in the final episode, they show the scene with Ryan, with the couple who gave him the hatchet and then forcing him to take them to the historical society.
00:54:05:16 - 00:54:06:19
Speaker 3
I set.
00:54:06:19 - 00:54:06:29
Lauren
Them.
00:54:07:12 - 00:54:09:02
Gabe
Oh yeah, they were really weird.
00:54:09:14 - 00:54:09:27
Speaker 3
But he was.
00:54:09:27 - 00:54:10:19
Lauren
So weird.
00:54:10:20 - 00:54:18:03
Gabe
Going. I actually, I thought initially when they took him into the house, we weren't going to see Ryan like, Goodbye, Ryan, see you next season.
00:54:18:23 - 00:54:24:27
Lauren
I swear to God. I wrote down an.
00:54:27:08 - 00:54:41:05
Gabe
And I think they are the return of the the road back. I think that was all put on hiatus. We had to take care of temperance. Now temperance is gone and that's how the road back comes back. You know.
00:54:41:08 - 00:54:41:12
Lauren
It's.
00:54:42:12 - 00:54:43:02
Speaker 3
Silly.
00:54:43:27 - 00:55:05:02
Gabe
Once temperance is gone, right? They don't have the white lady, two white ladies and white to push them back and all that. Like there's no one to be like, yeah, you can't be here, you know what I mean? So I think they're going to come back for season four and I think that's the start of it. And I feel like they must be intertwined kind of with the family curse.
00:55:05:02 - 00:55:08:18
Gabe
Not that they like cause it, but that could be so.
00:55:08:27 - 00:55:09:28
Lauren
They have the relics.
00:55:10:13 - 00:55:10:25
Gabe
Yeah.
00:55:10:28 - 00:55:14:26
Lauren
Just like into the relic stuff.
00:55:14:26 - 00:55:37:03
Gabe
The road back is like wholesale, their government politics to technology. I don't remember if it's they want to get rid of technology or what it is or I don't know they have something against the technology and all of that. But mostly it was just like the road back obviously has to come back. So where else would it be?
00:55:37:03 - 00:55:48:16
Gabe
I feel like that's just the prime moment you're getting us ready for season four. And I mean, the road back is what's what caused everyone to fall, you know what I mean?
00:55:49:15 - 00:56:06:24
Lauren
Yeah. So the show's ridiculous because. Sorry, because we always end on such a cliffhanger like this. There's no way for the show to be like, Oh, or months later. Six months later.
00:56:07:16 - 00:56:08:03
Speaker 3
True.
00:56:08:21 - 00:56:13:24
Lauren
Yeah. Like, we're going to go straight into like later this evening.
00:56:15:12 - 00:56:17:28
Gabe
Probably like a couple of days from now or like.
00:56:18:04 - 00:56:20:02
Lauren
The next week. I don't think so.
00:56:20:03 - 00:56:21:19
Speaker 3
Oh, no. Yeah, it would have to be a show.
00:56:22:03 - 00:56:37:29
Lauren
That's is going to be yeah, this is going to be running the museum. Ryan and the couple are going to go show up and the couple is going to go steal that. I don't I don't know what they're going to be up to, but I would be shocked if they didn't show us what the couple is doing.
00:56:38:18 - 00:56:43:19
Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
00:56:43:19 - 00:56:49:01
Gabe
And then so last season we talked about the update. Oh, okay.
00:56:49:01 - 00:57:09:02
Lauren
What now? I was just laughing because I was just like my notes say Ryan showed up to a nice couple's house asking you out relics. And they're like, Well, we sell crafts like that. It's like, Yeah, you've got a serious artifact for protection by your front door, so don't be asked me. And then I was like, The great people are the couple of great people that run the museum.
00:57:09:02 - 00:57:21:00
Lauren
Let them run it. Because I was like, They know all about artifacts. And then my next bullet point, that couple is going to kill him. So I went through quite a journey from like one little conversation of them.
00:57:21:21 - 00:57:30:10
Gabe
I didn't like them from the very beginning. The lady, I feel like had such a soft look on her face and I was like, I don't know about this one, Chief.
00:57:31:13 - 00:57:33:01
Lauren
Because they compliment his car.
00:57:33:06 - 00:57:37:25
Gabe
And then, yeah, I was like, That's such a weird thing to say to someone initially.
00:57:37:25 - 00:58:08:20
Lauren
And then in Nancy's little dream sequence where Ryan is dead but his car went missing, then Nancy out about the car and she and Ace are driving to that weird couple's house who had stolen Ryan's car. When they get in the car accident where he dies and then we reveal it was all a dream. I'm a little shocked we haven't had a and it was all a dream before on the Nancy Drew show.
00:58:08:22 - 00:58:11:06
Lauren
I feel like they're primed.
00:58:12:28 - 00:58:13:11
Speaker 3
Yeah.
00:58:14:03 - 00:58:22:02
Gabe
Or like do we ever have it where they ran into some gas or something that causes a bunch of hallucinations and weird stuff to happen?
00:58:22:24 - 00:58:24:02
Speaker 3
Do we really get that?
00:58:24:18 - 00:58:34:04
Gabe
Like, they're kind of this? Is that one episode with Ace? I think he's locked in. There's two of them locked in them. Right. Go ahead. What you're going to say?
00:58:35:04 - 00:58:52:10
Lauren
Oh, I was going to say, I think season one maybe where Nancy like has it like there's a gas and Nancy passes out and the whole gang is trying to like bring her back. I think it's in the asylum or something anyway.
00:58:54:04 - 00:59:11:18
Gabe
Okay. I'm dating a romance is in relationships. The first thing I had to put down was I love towards the end the developing relationship between George and Carson and the a lot together and Carson being like, you know, you're really good, baby, you should think about it. I love that.
00:59:12:09 - 00:59:28:15
Lauren
Yeah there this whole trial episode and George is just like, oh, I can run off and get that witness statement for you. And as soon as she showed, like that little bit of interest, I was like, is going to go beyond lawyer now. Okay, I saw it coming.
00:59:28:24 - 00:59:36:27
Gabe
I feel like she talked about it in one of the previous seasons that as a kid she wanted to be a lawyer, which she brought up again in that episode.
00:59:37:23 - 00:59:41:11
Speaker 3
I see. Yeah, but yes. Yes it is.
00:59:42:23 - 00:59:59:13
Gabe
So that was a thing. Then there's also oh, the soup. I feel like the strengthening bond between Carson and, um, and Ryan, like they really become low key, like a gay dad couple, like, you know what I mean? Like, oh, yeah.
00:59:59:14 - 01:00:01:09
Lauren
Nancy's always just, like, that's my dad's.
01:00:01:25 - 01:00:06:23
Gabe
I know. There's so I love it. Um.
01:00:07:29 - 01:00:20:11
Lauren
And see, when Ryan dies in her little dream thing. Gosh. And she's just crying and being like, Dad, she's never called Ryan Dad, but he was dying, and she called her dad, and I was like.
01:00:20:20 - 01:00:21:21
Speaker 3
No, we.
01:00:22:00 - 01:00:23:12
Lauren
Can't do this.
01:00:23:12 - 01:00:26:21
Speaker 3
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
01:00:27:08 - 01:00:43:28
Gabe
So I love I love seeing that cultivate. I feel like they have really awesome chemistry together. Like the actors, like they know how to. It's just really good. It's a feels good. It's honestly a bromance, you know what I mean? I feel like they're bromance, but we do get.
01:00:44:03 - 01:00:44:16
Speaker 3
Walter.
01:00:44:16 - 01:00:54:01
Lauren
Who plays Ryan. I mean, he's charismatic with everybody, anyone he interacts with. You're just like, I love this guy. This guy's great.
01:00:55:07 - 01:00:57:04
Speaker 3
He's a good time. Yeah.
01:00:57:09 - 01:01:02:02
Lauren
It's this grown frat boy identity that you're, like.
01:01:02:11 - 01:01:06:02
Speaker 3
Adorable, but you learned to learn it.
01:01:06:09 - 01:01:22:24
Gabe
It's genuine, though, you know what I mean? I feel like in season one, you're it seems very disingenuous and icky, but in season two, in season three, you find out it really is genuine. Like he isn't just trying to be a sleazeball.
01:01:22:27 - 01:01:24:18
Speaker 3
With all his charisma.
01:01:25:15 - 01:01:46:17
Gabe
Sorry, Carson or Ryan have the bromance. But then Carson does also get some romance with the DEA gene. I think her name is Gene. Right. And I love that so much. I was I was so glad that we finally, like Carson was, um, kind of able to not move on from his wife, but you know what I mean?
01:01:46:17 - 01:02:01:29
Gabe
Like, like you said, find that there is a life. A life that could be good, even if, though it's without his soulmate, because he does tell Nancy that her mom really was his soul mate. But like I love that.
01:02:02:09 - 01:02:03:25
Lauren
That doesn't mean his life's over.
01:02:04:04 - 01:02:14:20
Gabe
Exactly. But yes, we can. Oh, and so it's the season ends with they're going to go on a trip to weekend trip together. And I'm like, yes, please.
01:02:14:20 - 01:02:15:09
Speaker 3
Thank you.
01:02:16:25 - 01:02:24:19
Gabe
It does. We'll get back to that and a different section. Okay. Yes, you talk about the the Georgia night, because.
01:02:24:19 - 01:02:25:15
Speaker 3
That's what I had next.
01:02:26:25 - 01:02:28:23
Lauren
So how long.
01:02:28:24 - 01:02:29:12
Speaker 3
Did we.
01:02:30:00 - 01:02:36:24
Lauren
How long ago would you say was the start of season one in the timeline?
01:02:38:14 - 01:02:44:13
Gabe
I'm so serious. I'm pretty sure the whole season takes place in two weeks. It's two or three weeks.
01:02:44:13 - 01:02:44:28
Lauren
And one.
01:02:45:15 - 01:02:48:00
Speaker 3
Oh.
01:02:48:00 - 01:03:02:25
Lauren
Like from the end of season three, the beginning of like the beginning of season one when the show started to the end of season three, like six months or months, I don't know.
01:03:02:25 - 01:03:08:28
Gabe
I think it's at least six months, if not a year.
01:03:08:28 - 01:03:20:17
Lauren
It's not a year because we started in summer. Oh, yeah, we started in summer. That's true. We're in winter. Or where it's snowing anyway.
01:03:20:17 - 01:03:22:04
Gabe
Are we in winter or spring?
01:03:23:04 - 01:03:47:03
Lauren
It's snowing. So if we say it's, you know, under a year that all of the shenanigans from season one till now at the beginning of this year, six months, whatever this period is, George was still hooking up with Ryan. Nancy and Ned were dating Nick.
01:03:47:03 - 01:03:48:20
Gabe
I was wrong. Com. Ned, it's neck.
01:03:50:05 - 01:03:51:05
Lauren
And neck we're dating.
01:03:51:12 - 01:03:51:25
Speaker 3
Yes.
01:03:51:25 - 01:04:29:03
Lauren
And then three months after that, roughly. Don't know. Well actually yeah. Within the first month or so of the period, Nancy or George and Ryan break up, George tells them off for dating her when she was an underage teen. And then Nancy and Nick break up and George and Nick get together also within this time period after not very long of dating.
01:04:30:13 - 01:04:57:29
Lauren
But George gets a spirit cut inside of her so that she has a shortened life span. And so she and Ned or Nick are just trying to, like, rush things along, get together. And so then George proposes You are right. I was wrong last season where George has proposed to Nick, but Nick hadn't said yes, so they were not engaged at the end of last season.
01:04:58:29 - 01:05:24:27
Lauren
Early on in this season, Nick, does this whole beautiful proposal in front of all of their friends and her sisters. It's so cute. He gets her a ring. He gets presents from her mom who's in China. Like it's this whole beautiful thing within season three, which we just said was like about a two week period, they then are like, Let's just get married.
01:05:24:27 - 01:05:32:26
Lauren
Like, why are we waiting? And in my mind, they've been dating for maximum three months.
01:05:33:22 - 01:05:51:25
Gabe
Okay, this is what someone said. Sorry, I was looking at while you're talking about it. So they're saying that they think season one starts like August 31st. I would agree it because it seems like the whole summer past before that and the whole summer is when Nancy and Nick are hooking up.
01:05:52:18 - 01:05:55:19
Speaker 3
Yeah. And then they.
01:05:55:26 - 01:06:17:22
Gabe
Believe Karen got arrested in about October because when Nancy showed her the footage of confronting Dodd, she said, you didn't realize there's cameras last month. And then that was part of the push before Carson's trial, which was like two days later and included calling to the L.A. And then the first part of season two was the week they had before the L.A. killed them.
01:06:18:05 - 01:06:41:01
Gabe
And they mentioned specifically that the night they beat like it was the 21st, which I agree with them, I would assume is October 21st, since it only has really been about nine days since Karen was arrested then. The last episode says that the 21st was a couple of weeks ago. So I think the beginning of season three is a week into November.
01:06:41:01 - 01:06:43:13
Gabe
I think I would buy that timeline.
01:06:44:15 - 01:06:46:24
Lauren
Okay. So yeah, so six months.
01:06:47:09 - 01:06:51:14
Speaker 3
So yeah, six months.
01:06:51:14 - 01:07:26:25
Lauren
Yeah. Well, that's what I'm saying is this one time like I know these characters, you know, these 18 year olds are so mature and whatever, but like and I know that they don't act weird around their exes, but it weirds me out every single time we see Ryan interacting with George or with Ned, and it's like, Hey, three months ago, you and George were having an affair.
01:07:26:25 - 01:08:00:00
Lauren
He use like he's done a lot of growth, but still like having this man as a volunteer around the community, around the Children's Center, having this dad like we're having this guy learn to be a dad. I love that for him. But he was hooking up with a underage teenage girl within the past year. I don't know when George's birthday is, and that was only like four months ago, so I'm glad we're all over it.
01:08:01:26 - 01:08:18:09
Lauren
But like, anytime he interacts with George, I'm like, you guys were hooking up four months ago. You were like her trauma response to not having a dad that, like, made her into this high school pariah.
01:08:19:04 - 01:08:20:13
Gabe
I don't think he was the first.
01:08:20:15 - 01:08:20:28
Lauren
And.
01:08:21:05 - 01:08:23:27
Gabe
I don't think he was the first one she'd done that with. I think she'd.
01:08:24:00 - 01:08:26:08
Speaker 3
Yeah. But yeah.
01:08:26:08 - 01:08:26:25
Lauren
It's still.
01:08:27:14 - 01:08:32:28
Gabe
In my brain and it's been at least a year, but it doesn't make sense.
01:08:33:10 - 01:08:36:10
Lauren
I think it's just the actors all look older.
01:08:36:23 - 01:08:38:07
Gabe
Well, it's not even that, Adam, but like.
01:08:38:07 - 01:08:38:27
Lauren
18.
01:08:39:04 - 01:09:00:29
Gabe
The extreme character growth and all of the things that happen and develop like kind of character growth doesn't just happen overnight. Like that's something that takes time in real life. It takes time for people to to grow and to change because you have habits. You know what I mean? I it's just ridiculous to me.
01:09:02:02 - 01:09:27:29
Lauren
So, Nancy or George and Ned. Yes, they are like, oh, my gosh, we're going to get married. We're just going to do it right now. And they rushed to the courthouse and get a judge to agree to let them walk down the aisle. That does mean not have wait three days. Does may not have you need witnesses for this wedding.
01:09:27:29 - 01:09:28:28
Lauren
I have a lot of questions.
01:09:29:18 - 01:09:50:15
Gabe
I just want to say, when I first saw that and we got to that moment, I was so pissed off. I was like, this is B.S. George deserves so much better than this. You should have your friends there, should I? Sisters there is. Where I was like, this is does George deserves the white gown and flowers being thrown and.
01:09:51:06 - 01:09:55:22
Speaker 3
Put that boy in a cedo? Yes, I was peeved.
01:09:56:29 - 01:10:01:16
Lauren
I want to see him dressed fancy. He's going to need.
01:10:01:16 - 01:10:02:22
Gabe
Witnesses for that.
01:10:02:22 - 01:10:04:20
Speaker 3
I thought. That's what I'm saying.
01:10:05:20 - 01:10:29:13
Lauren
I don't want to continue because at least in Washington you have to have turn in your marriage license and there's a three day waiting period before the ceremony or the legal ceremony can actually happen anyway. So I was like, No, they can just roll up at 457 when the court closes at five and the judge will be like, Rock on anyway.
01:10:29:19 - 01:10:52:01
Lauren
So George is strange. George is just like, I want an aisle. And so they back up to the other end of the hallway. They're like, Come on. And it's just the judge and Nick and George are standing at the end of the hallway no flowers, no nothing. And just like in a sweatshirt. And it's just like, hmm, actually, no.
01:10:52:12 - 01:11:24:18
Lauren
And so she and Ned then have this whole conversation where it's just like, Hey, you know the soul? That was Odette. Odette, who is in my soul and shortening my lifespan is gone. So there's no need to like. RUSH And so this is where they have the whole conversation about, like, we're going to grow together, like we're going to, you know, grow around each other and they take the ring off and they decide, you know, like, we don't need to be engaged right now.
01:11:24:18 - 01:11:28:24
Lauren
Like, I knew they were going to break out way.
01:11:29:03 - 01:11:35:18
Gabe
Isn't that weird? George says, I want you to keep the ring right. Can you keep it for me? Is that what she says? Yeah. Okay.
01:11:36:09 - 01:11:37:00
Speaker 3
Go ahead.
01:11:37:00 - 01:12:02:25
Lauren
But while they were engaged, there was this whole period of time where Nick was trying to, like, befriend her sisters. Yeah. And, like, trying to, like, be really nice to them and help them with homework. And they had never had, like, a stable male figure in the house. And so we're like really of him at first. And then he and George spent a lot of time in like, he will always be there for us.
01:12:03:08 - 01:12:28:27
Lauren
Like, you do not have to worry. He will always be there and. I was like, No, he will not. I know what you guys are doing and I don't trust you. And then I was right and George to tell her sisters that. Okay, sorry. So they agreed to not be engaged. And then at and then they're kind of like trying to explain to their friends.
01:12:28:27 - 01:12:33:27
Lauren
They're like, Oh yeah, well, we're not engaged, but we are still together.
01:12:35:07 - 01:12:35:24
Gabe
That is the.
01:12:35:24 - 01:12:53:21
Lauren
Truth. There's clear. And then they fight and they just a lot of stuff going on. But then there's the Truth Teller Party where they do break up. And after that, George has to like talk to her sisters and be like, You still going to be part of our lives. So any friends, it's like this girl.
01:12:54:07 - 01:12:57:01
Gabe
Got so upset. I was so heartbroken.
01:12:57:19 - 01:13:24:26
Lauren
I also so the main cast, like, you know, they were in their mid-twenties, so they aren't changing that much. Over the years it's been three years since we were first introduced to George's little sisters who are little like they're probably like seven, ten and 15 or something and they are just growing up so fast because it's been, you know, three or four years since we started shooting this show.
01:13:25:11 - 01:13:48:21
Lauren
And so they didn't bring on New little girls to take their spot. And so now all of the characters where, you know, four months ago they looked their age and now just like so much older and okay, it's fun, they're great. I love having them involved, but it's just funny just because kids grow so fast.
01:13:49:06 - 01:13:50:10
Speaker 3
Yes, yes, yes.
01:13:51:12 - 01:14:04:29
Gabe
So yeah, by the end, they're broken up on Somyurek terms. Honestly, I don't really feel like they got two good terms because there's just too much going on.
01:14:05:14 - 01:14:40:04
Lauren
You know what I mean? Now I during the kind of tsunami piece, during the big flood, Ned was just running the crowd just crying out for George because he thought she was out there stuck somewhere. So like there are some feelings in there. But then looking at the tarot cards predictions where they do say like, you know, betrayed her true love and those kind of things so I just think they'll get back together.
01:14:41:01 - 01:14:41:17
Speaker 3
They will.
01:14:41:27 - 01:14:42:20
Lauren
Work out.
01:14:43:15 - 01:14:53:14
Gabe
But like seen everything that happened with the ring. I just don't feel like they're on good terms. Like it might not be bad, but it's not good.
01:14:54:23 - 01:15:18:02
Lauren
Well, yeah, I don't think they're going to get engaged any time soon. But I also think that that original ring, I mean, for their relationship, kind of tainted like I guess in some ways it could symbolize growth that it's like, oh, okay, no, we did end up coming back together. But I took like, it makes sense that she'll get a better ring.
01:15:18:22 - 01:15:44:19
Gabe
I agree. I think it's better that they didn't have that conversation. And so she just has to go and suddenly see it in the shop. Like that's a really pupu way to find out. And that's more of what I mean. I think. Yes, I agree with my if they get married in the future should get, you know, a different ring.
01:15:44:19 - 01:15:51:13
Gabe
Um, so Betsy's single in the beginning of the season because Odette was like single.
01:15:51:13 - 01:15:55:23
Lauren
And so ready to mingle with anyone she walks by.
01:15:56:01 - 01:16:05:04
Gabe
I wouldn't say she's ready to mingle. I would say she was masking the pain of not having no debt by having one night stands with ladies.
01:16:05:04 - 01:16:06:28
Lauren
Which is the mingling part.
01:16:07:11 - 01:16:07:16
Speaker 3
Or.
01:16:07:17 - 01:16:17:25
Gabe
Mingling. I feel like when you say single and ready to mingle, I feel like that implies you're looking for a relationship.
01:16:17:25 - 01:16:25:28
Lauren
Would say you're mingling with people at a bar or a party where it's like, Oh, hi, oh, hello.
01:16:25:28 - 01:16:38:28
Gabe
I guess I've only ever heard it used when people are looking for more than just a one night stand, like a date or something. And she was, she just wanted the poontang, okay? She just was ready.
01:16:39:22 - 01:16:41:16
Lauren
She was like, Yes.
01:16:41:28 - 01:17:10:28
Gabe
Yeah. Because Lessard had said she was to sleep. She wasn't going to keep trying to take over George's body. And then and so she's kind of having this with Addy, who is she's Native American. I don't remember what her tribe is, but she's Native American working with the youth center because the youth centers on Native American tribal lands that are important to them.
01:17:10:28 - 01:17:25:06
Gabe
And there's all of this. And so her and Bess kind of get off on the wrong foot because Bassey's looking for to slay some cats. And Addie's like, I am more dignified.
01:17:25:06 - 01:17:38:27
Lauren
Well, more dignified. And she also just, like, saw bass as just like a materialistic like, yeah, basic, you know, it's like in this shopping and, like, technology and whatever, whatever.
01:17:39:09 - 01:17:39:15
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:17:39:15 - 01:17:58:07
Lauren
And Addy is just like like she went on a walkabout, steal their that was like no phones or anything like that. So she's just like very rooted and grounded and just like looking for something deep and meaningful and it's just like gross Yeah.
01:17:58:15 - 01:18:26:00
Gabe
Yeah. And so they're kind of having a saying they're not quite serious, but they're little more not a little more serious, but they're trying to go on like an actual date. But then there's this whole thing where they have to separate the souls of George and Odette, and they do it. And when they do it, in order for it to work, Odette has to crush the piece, or Bess has to crush the piece of rock with that soul.
01:18:26:00 - 01:18:39:14
Gabe
And it so we say we say goodbye to our debt or debt. And it makes me so sad. I loved Odette George's body. Not that like, I don't want to get rid of George.
01:18:39:14 - 01:18:40:06
Speaker 3
But like.
01:18:41:06 - 01:18:53:27
Lauren
It was. At the rate these seasons are going, we've got 20 more seasons before we'd hit ten years of George's life. 20 years. So I mean 20 now. I mean.
01:18:54:08 - 01:18:55:08
Speaker 3
200 or something.
01:18:57:00 - 01:19:12:15
Gabe
True, true. And then that's kind of we're best as able to be okay and move on. Yeah. And then her and I, they become more serious and are definitely, I think very serious by the end of the season.
01:19:14:10 - 01:19:16:07
Speaker 3
Are there to go ahead.
01:19:16:07 - 01:19:50:17
Lauren
And it's interesting because like we had Addy and several episodes and then one of the last times we saw her or she okay, one of the main things she did was talk to Nick about trauma. She was like, Oh, like I had a cousin who committed suicide and I did a walkabout and got rid of like all my technology, whatever, and just like was with myself for two weeks or whatever it was to like really kind of re ground myself and heal.
01:19:50:17 - 01:20:14:29
Lauren
And she's like, How did you heal from your trauma? He was like, Well, my mentor died. And then this other woman who was a mentor to me also died. And then I got in this tumultuous relationship with Nancy, and then I got into a tumultuous relationship with George, and then I bought several businesses and she was like, Great.
01:20:15:24 - 01:20:24:04
Lauren
And which one of those helped to heal your trauma? And he was like, None.
01:20:24:04 - 01:20:27:27
Gabe
If I told what trauma, I don't have any trauma.
01:20:28:23 - 01:20:29:07
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:20:30:09 - 01:21:07:08
Lauren
But like one of the last times we saw Addy was at the truth telling party where we learned that there was, like, a bunch of, like or something really spooky, scary, which ended up being like the seal to the underworld or whatever behind the children's center. And Addy and her tribe knew about it. And so we like learned that she knew about it and that her tribe knew about it and she like asked massive question at the very end while they were making out like what best about it?
01:21:07:08 - 01:21:29:19
Lauren
And that's like truly nothing. And she was like, okay. And then they kept making out and I was like, okay, like what was going to happen there? And then we both basically didn't really see Addy again, like we saw her for like bits and pieces in the children's sense. So she was still around. She how much of signs that she was.
01:21:30:13 - 01:21:30:24
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:21:30:25 - 01:21:32:02
Lauren
Impactful too.
01:21:32:12 - 01:21:35:03
Speaker 3
Yes.
01:21:35:03 - 01:22:01:23
Gabe
Okay. Does that cover all of the relationships before. Do we get a room? I think so, because Ryan doesn't have anybody. He's just living his best life. In the bromance with Carson. Okay. So in the beginning of the season, Ace is still with Amanda. Amanda is off, but.
01:22:03:11 - 01:22:05:27
Lauren
She's in like Spain or Italy or. Well, didn't.
01:22:05:27 - 01:22:09:18
Gabe
She leave the last season to go on like a tycoon?
01:22:09:18 - 01:22:31:03
Lauren
Something the two of them, Ace and Amanda, went off together to do this mountain trip. But then she came back and like went to Italy for a while and Ace, like, decided not to go with her. She's been off in Europe for one episode.
01:22:31:03 - 01:22:49:06
Gabe
Amanda Amanda's gone. And so while Amanda's gone, is. Is like, I'll help Amanda's dad, who has a burden who's been convicted before for I think it was just all of the theft. I don't know if it was anything else.
01:22:50:10 - 01:22:54:13
Speaker 3
And he he's.
01:22:54:13 - 01:23:21:05
Gabe
Doing bad stuff. I just know he's doing bad stuff. And Ace becomes kind of like an accomplice. And then he has give he has to give Amanda's dad over, and he does it essentially behind Amanda's back. So that episode she comes back for, he's like, we have to find your dad because it's her dad's on the run again so that I'm not convicted because I'm was not a part of this.
01:23:21:05 - 01:23:45:04
Gabe
Like, I didn't do any of this because someone was murdered, I think, and he's anyways. And so Amanda's like, I'm, I'm not going to turn him in or I can't turn him and all that. So Ace goes with or follows Amanda when she goes to see her dad and he lets the cops or the cops are following him or whatever and the cops come and get her dad.
01:23:45:14 - 01:23:52:14
Gabe
And so that ends their relationship because Amanda's like, I can't believe you did that. And was like.
01:23:53:15 - 01:23:54:10
Speaker 3
Good riddance.
01:23:55:27 - 01:24:02:29
Lauren
And again, we all knew she was like a block between so that Nancy and Ace can get together.
01:24:03:20 - 01:24:04:26
Speaker 3
Yeah, yeah.
01:24:04:27 - 01:24:08:03
Lauren
I was her character. Once we find out.
01:24:08:14 - 01:24:08:21
Speaker 3
If.
01:24:10:02 - 01:24:12:13
Lauren
Their last name is Bob C, right?
01:24:12:13 - 01:24:13:20
Speaker 3
Yeah, it's the boxes.
01:24:14:13 - 01:24:16:15
Lauren
So, like the Bobbsey twins?
01:24:16:25 - 01:24:21:25
Speaker 3
Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So that leaves a.
01:24:21:26 - 01:24:27:11
Lauren
Stamp on them being the Bobbsey twins before, which I think is a really fun little shout out.
01:24:27:26 - 01:24:31:15
Speaker 3
I thought we talked about that last season. Did we? Yes.
01:24:31:15 - 01:24:34:26
Gabe
I keep trying to get through to you that Amanda and Gilbert twins are.
01:24:35:28 - 01:24:37:06
Speaker 3
I a lot.
01:24:38:09 - 01:24:40:20
Gabe
I remember how you didn't even remember their names.
01:24:41:17 - 01:24:43:23
Speaker 3
You're like, that's very.
01:24:43:26 - 01:24:47:15
Lauren
So do I know the name of the FBI profiler?
01:24:47:25 - 01:24:48:17
Gabe
Now it's agent.
01:24:48:25 - 01:24:54:26
Lauren
For the first ten episodes. Agent Park, do we know is a park.
01:24:56:16 - 01:25:25:22
Gabe
I'm pretty sure they just call them Agent Park. Anyways, that leads us to nice hashtag names forever. Um, I'm season for a surrogate. Okay. First of all, I feel so sad that these things, Nancy, would be ashamed to be with him because he doesn't have crap together, and he's, like, living with friends and stuff because he and I'm what makes me so sad.
01:25:26:12 - 01:25:30:10
Gabe
But I like season four. You you're smart. I know you're.
01:25:30:10 - 01:25:46:08
Lauren
Smart. And it's no, he does. He thinks she is the best thing that he's ever seen in his entire life. And so he's just like, why would she want to be with me? A dishwasher who lives with his parents?
01:25:46:08 - 01:25:47:14
Speaker 3
BUSSON Oh, no.
01:25:47:14 - 01:25:50:11
Gabe
At that point he's not living with his parents. He's been couch surfing.
01:25:50:22 - 01:25:52:12
Lauren
Well at the beginning. I mean.
01:25:52:22 - 01:25:54:08
Speaker 3
He has, but I but at the.
01:25:54:08 - 01:26:15:13
Gabe
Beginning, he's not really thinking that because he's still with Amanda, it's not until that whole shit goes down because when they arrest Amanda's dad and get the other guy it, his mom overhears him talking to his dad about the secret son and his dad just blows up and kicks him out of house.
01:26:16:00 - 01:26:17:18
Lauren
I could not believe that.
01:26:18:03 - 01:26:20:28
Gabe
I couldn't either. I was really mad at his dad.
01:26:21:02 - 01:26:44:09
Lauren
That was a really upsetting conversation because his dad was just like like, get out. You cannot come back here. Don't tell my secrets. Like his dad, that that was wild. And then his dad never apologized for that. He came back and he was just like, Oh, your mom really wants you to come to this thing. Your mom wants you to come home, your mom wants to do all this.
01:26:44:09 - 01:27:09:17
Lauren
And it's like, get out here. It's not his mom's fault that he's not home. And his dad is just like calling him out and being like, Why Are you still rely on us like you shouldn't anyway? Just acting like either he was ungrateful or he was mooching off of them and anyway. And so I think it was just like touching on a lot of his insecurities.
01:27:09:28 - 01:27:13:10
Speaker 3
Yeah, it was awful.
01:27:13:11 - 01:27:35:02
Gabe
Okay, so, like, reset temperature was a curse on them when they killed their Nancy over accident feelings for he'll die. And so at the end, towards the way end of the episode, Nancy goes over to see him and they almost have a moment they're about to kiss. And she's like, the barometer cracks, which is what happened in their dreamscape she was like, I should have never come.
01:27:35:09 - 01:27:57:10
Gabe
And she she just stabs stab stab two as this is like there's nothing between them. There never would be. I don't have any of those feelings that you have for me and just, oh, my way into my heart. It's just like, look into my eyes and what do you see? So and just walks out and you're like.
01:27:57:18 - 01:28:13:01
Lauren
Oh, and it was horrifying because he was just like, I got job at the morgue. I just got an apartment below Nick's, and I have my own place and I have a real job. So now, like, we can be together.
01:28:13:06 - 01:28:18:27
Gabe
He literally airs his whole insecurities about He wasn't good enough until now. He called.
01:28:18:27 - 01:28:21:18
Speaker 3
Me and she's like, That was not that's not.
01:28:22:06 - 01:28:27:20
Lauren
That's that's nothing to do with anything shocking then.
01:28:28:16 - 01:28:32:10
Speaker 3
And you're too boy.
01:28:32:10 - 01:28:38:20
Lauren
So Nancy's just having a meltdown, obviously, because she has all of these feelings.
01:28:39:28 - 01:28:54:23
Gabe
So when that happened, that towards the end of that, when I first watched this episode, I was like, season four, Ace has got to he's got to know what's up. Like he knows Nancy, please tell me he can put two and two together where he knows she has feelings for him.
01:28:54:27 - 01:29:02:03
Lauren
What side question, I guess, is there anything in the curse that says Nancy cannot tell him that there's a curse?
01:29:03:12 - 01:29:04:01
Speaker 3
I don't.
01:29:04:20 - 01:29:05:20
Gabe
Think it's just.
01:29:05:20 - 01:29:08:25
Lauren
If she makes her move or like acts on her feelings.
01:29:08:25 - 01:29:09:09
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:29:09:09 - 01:29:25:08
Lauren
Why cannot she just him or tell Ned, I guess, or somebody at best the anchor? Why can't she tell somebody else to tell? Is that like, hey, there is a curse that he'll die if he and Nancy get together?
01:29:25:22 - 01:29:36:11
Gabe
Honestly, that was my whole thought process to as I didn't understand why, she felt like she had to take it on all by herself. And she does have other things.
01:29:36:11 - 01:29:40:19
Lauren
She's Nancy. And that's what she does in literally every situation.
01:29:40:19 - 01:30:02:03
Gabe
Yeah, I was proud of her. So she does talk to Carson about it. She opens up to Carson. They have that whole wholesome conversation. He's like, It is possible to live without a soulmate. It may be you get more than one. You know, you you control your fate. I was kind of like, this is a little soon to say, maybe you get more than one man.
01:30:02:03 - 01:30:06:28
Gabe
She didn't even get to be with her first soulmate. Like at least you're with your first soulmate. And then.
01:30:08:04 - 01:30:09:00
Lauren
I think.
01:30:09:16 - 01:30:09:26
Speaker 3
Yours.
01:30:09:29 - 01:30:13:06
Lauren
Yes, but also she's 18.
01:30:13:26 - 01:30:15:11
Gabe
But she definitely need the pep talk.
01:30:16:08 - 01:30:22:28
Lauren
And the 18 year olds have strong feelings about somebody who maybe considered their true first love.
01:30:23:08 - 01:30:23:17
Speaker 3
Mm.
01:30:25:10 - 01:30:30:01
Lauren
But she say she loved Nick.
01:30:30:01 - 01:30:54:25
Gabe
Okay, wait, let me a man that I, I think to the extent of what she was capable of at the time, she loved him. But I think ultimately it's more of a friendship love for her. Like she I think I think it was lust and he was a coping mechanism, to be honest, in the summer, I think that's where he was.
01:30:55:02 - 01:31:22:06
Gabe
And to the extent she was capable, she felt love. But ultimately it was just friendship. Love with Ace. Like the profiler said, they started as friends, like they're really good friends. It was all organic. He was able to go through all of her barriers without the pressure of romance or any of that. So I think she.
01:31:22:06 - 01:31:25:02
Lauren
Like her number one fan and her. Yeah. Order.
01:31:25:17 - 01:31:27:00
Speaker 3
Yes, yeah.
01:31:27:01 - 01:31:33:27
Gabe
He was the one. He's the one who she can always count on to have her back no matter what. Like she has.
01:31:34:03 - 01:31:39:18
Lauren
Is that because he's in love with her and therefore is just like, sure. But she wants.
01:31:40:15 - 01:31:50:29
Gabe
No. Because she had it before. He had those feelings for her. He was he was always for her from season one to be honest. And before I feel like.
01:31:50:29 - 01:31:53:11
Lauren
He did he have feelings for her?
01:31:54:20 - 01:32:07:18
Gabe
I don't think so in season one and I don't even think in season two until until maybe towards the end. And he wasn't even realizing it till season three. But I would.
01:32:07:18 - 01:32:08:10
Speaker 3
Say I.
01:32:08:10 - 01:32:09:27
Lauren
Think that that's how he felt.
01:32:10:24 - 01:32:11:04
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:32:11:13 - 01:32:33:07
Gabe
I would say no for sure. Season one and not in the beginning of season two, which is why he was able to get with Amanda. I mean, obviously they also put her as a block, but I think that's also why he was able to have feelings for Amanda.
01:32:33:07 - 01:32:35:16
Lauren
And hold on.
01:32:36:02 - 01:32:37:06
Speaker 3
I, I.
01:32:37:06 - 01:32:45:20
Gabe
Think he always has Nancy's back because he truly believes in her in the kind of person she is and in what she's capable of.
01:32:46:09 - 01:32:48:09
Lauren
Mm hmm.
01:32:48:09 - 01:32:55:23
Gabe
And I think he would not be afraid to tell her if he thought she was wrong.
01:32:55:23 - 01:32:56:03
Lauren
Yeah.
01:32:56:22 - 01:33:10:06
Gabe
But they. I just think they have a very pure bond. So I think how it went be, even though they are so young, I would say that that could be true love. They could be soulmates.
01:33:12:07 - 01:33:13:14
Lauren
Oh, totally.
01:33:13:19 - 01:33:16:08
Speaker 3
I yeah.
01:33:17:13 - 01:33:25:15
Gabe
Because it was never really lost. It was. Go ahead. No, you go. Sorry.
01:33:25:15 - 01:33:54:23
Lauren
I think I'm just saying that. Yes, too. I think he is one of her soulmates. Absolutely. If I'm I'm just saying from a parent's perspective, being like, hey, you know, there might be more people out there than just the people, you know, at age 18. Yeah, I think that's a good, good move to be like, hey, get out.
01:33:54:23 - 01:34:02:06
Lauren
You know, if it doesn't work out with them, you're right. There's so much left of life to like.
01:34:02:06 - 01:34:05:03
Speaker 3
Oh, yeah. No, I it's I agree.
01:34:05:04 - 01:34:22:13
Gabe
With his advice. It just was like it felt like such a whiplash, like she didn't really have any time to grieve any of it or anything. Like, it was just like, well, for moving on, you this champ.
01:34:23:11 - 01:34:35:13
Lauren
But she was asking like she asked him like he's going on dates with this person after mom and mom was your soulmate. So how are you moving on?
01:34:36:12 - 01:34:37:26
Speaker 3
But yeah, but right.
01:34:37:26 - 01:34:42:09
Gabe
And he said it is possible to live a family segment.
01:34:42:09 - 01:34:42:18
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:34:43:04 - 01:35:02:08
Gabe
Right. That part made sense. And then it was like a couple months later where he suddenly was like, maybe you get more than one. But he was saying that he never said he thought was a soulmate of his, just that it was possible to live without his and still be happy with. Someone who isn't necessarily his soul mate.
01:35:03:01 - 01:35:03:16
Speaker 3
Mm hmm.
01:35:05:01 - 01:35:08:21
Gabe
And then she was still really sad. So he said to her, maybe you get.
01:35:08:21 - 01:35:09:12
Speaker 3
More than one.
01:35:12:12 - 01:35:12:20
Lauren
Car.
01:35:12:20 - 01:35:52:18
Gabe
Nancy Assad Okay. Just to recap how it ended, where we leave everybody at the end of season three, George is going to try law. I think she still owns the car. They don't really address any of that, to be honest. So I'm sure Nick stays in town for a while longer, like you're saying, because his parents have come to visit and he also sells the ring George asked him to keep to be able to fix where the veil is at the youth center.
01:35:54:02 - 01:36:15:12
Gabe
And like you said, also got a job at the morgue and he is in an apartment under Nick Best decided to accept and become the keeper of the historical society. We didn't really address the whole Hannah Arendt thing, but basically she disappeared into this like parallel reality where she could see what was going on but couldn't do anything.
01:36:16:07 - 01:36:25:20
Lauren
A stranger, something up with her because everyone could be like, Oh, Hannah's gone. I don't know who's taking over this thing. I was like, Where did Hannah go?
01:36:25:29 - 01:36:28:00
Speaker 3
Right. Come on, guys, put it together.
01:36:28:17 - 01:36:52:21
Gabe
Asians up there, they save them. Hannah is like, Fuck this shit, I'm out. This is making question. Everything I'm questioning, even being a keeper and listening to what they said. Because she's pretty much the reason the Copperhead came out and was able to start doing all that killing and stuff and she was questioning why. So she's like, I got to go peace.
01:36:52:21 - 01:37:13:20
Gabe
I'm handing in my resignation and and giving my suggestion for succession. They send the letter to their spouses like heck, yes, Nancy got Icarus Manor in Temperance as well, and she turned it into Nancy Jr's investigations. Low key. I was like, Who wants to work in there, though? Because that place is.
01:37:13:20 - 01:37:16:22
Speaker 3
Creepy, but pop off quick. Do it.
01:37:18:16 - 01:37:21:22
Lauren
I think they should move the Historical Society to Icarus.
01:37:22:21 - 01:37:24:05
Speaker 3
I would agree that that was.
01:37:24:05 - 01:37:25:24
Lauren
There with Nancy.
01:37:26:21 - 01:37:27:28
Speaker 3
Yeah, that'd be cool.
01:37:27:28 - 01:37:32:11
Lauren
It's like, oh, come for the paranormal and get a paranormal detective on the way.
01:37:32:26 - 01:37:59:27
Gabe
True, true. We last see Ryan. He's in trouble with some bad people. Probably. We see him with the couple and he's there, like, take us to the Historical Society on. Her. And then Carson is going on a weekend trip with the DEA. And then the final, final scene. Someone calls Nancy, and they're like, I saw baby girl, can you come to the cemetery at 10 p.m.?
01:37:59:27 - 01:38:00:27
Gabe
And she's like.
01:38:01:07 - 01:38:05:09
Lauren
It's her first mystery as Nancy Drew investigations. Yeah.
01:38:05:13 - 01:38:14:04
Gabe
So she's like, Of course I'll be there. See you then. She doesn't none of that happened like that. But that's always the vibe.
01:38:14:04 - 01:38:15:01
Lauren
It's the vibe. Okay.
01:38:15:02 - 01:38:25:02
Gabe
Yes, it is. And so she gets there and she finds out all of the graves have been dug up and the bodies are missing and you're okay.
01:38:25:02 - 01:38:27:05
Speaker 3
No. Great.
01:38:27:29 - 01:38:49:20
Gabe
Love that. Yeah. So guesses for season four, like I was saying is I think it's going to center around the road back there, kind of put on the hiatus I think that's what the is for bringing that back. Obviously we're going to get to average trial because we kind of slowly talk little bits and pieces throughout the season about working on it and.
01:38:49:20 - 01:39:04:10
Gabe
It's coming up. And in that case, I think Detective Tamura is going to come back because Agent Park is leaving now that the frozen heart case has been solved. He was just like a coming in because we didn't have to.
01:39:04:10 - 01:39:06:09
Lauren
Tech dealer, specialist.
01:39:06:27 - 01:39:27:11
Gabe
Well, they didn't have Detective Tamyra Keller. Right. But part of is that they didn't have Detective Tamir. They just had their normal police officers. So they sent someone in to come and help. And yes, he was like, what you said. So now that he's gone, I feel like Detective Tamura is going to come back, especially if we're going to start focusing on the average trial.
01:39:27:18 - 01:39:40:28
Gabe
Which also leads me to say what you said for one of your guesses for season three is I think we're going to get back more into Nancy being the Hudson and figuring that out, figuring out the empire taking it all down.
01:39:40:28 - 01:40:12:18
Lauren
F-you Everett and I think George being into law, oh, huge. She'll really shine during that case because she's going to be mentored. She's getting mentored by the judge and obviously working closely with Carson and doing all of that. So yeah, so I think George is really going to shine. This is going to be dealing the road back and whatever shenanigans are going on around, they're.
01:40:13:15 - 01:40:15:20
Gabe
Causing more havoc, unintentionally.
01:40:15:20 - 01:40:21:18
Lauren
More havoc. Yeah. You know.
01:40:21:18 - 01:40:23:06
Speaker 3
I feel like she's going to be gone.
01:40:24:21 - 01:40:41:17
Gabe
For the beginning of the season and then he's going to have to get pulled back for something. And then they've maybe been able to grow apart, like while they're apart. And then it will be possible for them to come together. What did you think is going to happen for them?
01:40:43:08 - 01:40:58:07
Lauren
Again, it's just if they have a time jump because remember, like the last thing we see is we're one of the last things we see is Ryan careening down a road with the angry hatchet couple.
01:40:59:08 - 01:41:00:13
Speaker 3
So that's true.
01:41:01:08 - 01:41:32:19
Lauren
I'm I don't think there's going to be a jump between the end of season three and the beginning of season four. Maybe Nancy solves a couple of things or like nothing really happens with the gray lives or whatever. Or we just say or maybe we, yeah, I just, I think we're going to go directly in and then maybe season or episode or three, there will be like a time jump and Nancy's like, inundated with calls for her investigative agency.
01:41:32:20 - 01:41:33:01
Lauren
Whatever.
01:41:33:22 - 01:41:43:10
Gabe
Yeah, I think we're going to go right into it, too, based off of how the other season to go is more of. I just feel like for them to actually come together, he has to go home and face.
01:41:43:10 - 01:41:46:24
Speaker 3
Florida and heal with that.
01:41:46:24 - 01:41:47:28
Gabe
You know, I just think.
01:41:48:07 - 01:41:51:14
Lauren
His parents or his parents are here and I think it's.
01:41:51:24 - 01:42:11:08
Gabe
But they've been there before. It's not his parents. He talked about it in the episode with that girl who came as he hasn't been able to go to Florida because he's so ashamed and all that. So I feel like he needs to face that, like he has to go back even if it's for a short period of time and face that.
01:42:12:00 - 01:42:15:18
Lauren
And yeah, but I think he said his parents are going to be up for.
01:42:15:22 - 01:42:16:07
Gabe
A month.
01:42:16:13 - 01:42:17:18
Lauren
Couple a month.
01:42:17:22 - 01:42:18:15
Speaker 3
It was a month. Yeah.
01:42:18:17 - 01:42:22:24
Lauren
So unless we have a big time jump.
01:42:22:24 - 01:42:23:03
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:42:23:27 - 01:42:53:16
Lauren
And so and maybe it'll be something where like we spend, you know, three weeks in the season in like a bunch of episodes and then in like the second, the last episode, then there's a time jump and that goes away for that. Like we wait the month that his parents are here and then when that leaves, then we do a time jump to when he's coming back and this is when he like comes in or is just like George, like I'm coming back to town.
01:42:53:16 - 01:42:55:15
Lauren
Do you want to get coffee or something like that?
01:42:57:01 - 01:42:57:14
Speaker 3
Yes.
01:42:59:03 - 01:43:22:02
Gabe
Do we know a season for the last season? We know how many more hours it is. The last season confirmed is Sam. Oh, you know what? Yes, you're right. All right, then I'm going to say, I think I think best analogy, our end game. I just I don't feel like we can introduce another girl for her. And I feel like she she should be able to have someone.
01:43:22:20 - 01:43:23:08
Speaker 3
In the end.
01:43:23:18 - 01:43:24:18
Gabe
What you can respond.
01:43:27:13 - 01:44:00:26
Lauren
In that case, I think we'll be we'll have some more involvement with Ali's tribe. Mm hmm. Is and some of their kind of rituals. History is like what they know about a variety of things, because one of the things they are weapons that are made of that special or yeah. So I feel like the road back be interested in those and then her tribe is going to be like keeping them safe.
01:44:00:26 - 01:44:23:08
Gabe
I think their end game or Bess ends up as a single bad bitch. I don't think there's anyone else that's suddenly going to show up for her. I think those are her two options, to be honest. I think we're either going to end with like for sure George and Nick are back together or it ends on. They're going to try and see what happens.
01:44:23:08 - 01:44:32:24
Gabe
And so you get the hope that they're there. Um, I'll be really disappointed if it doesn't end with Nancy and Ace together.
01:44:32:26 - 01:44:36:02
Lauren
They could not. Not give us that.
01:44:36:16 - 01:44:41:20
Gabe
Yeah, like it's the ending Nancy has to have. I'm sorry. Nancy has to have a happy ending. You just can't.
01:44:42:29 - 01:44:47:09
Lauren
Candy, we're talking directly to you. Please.
01:44:47:18 - 01:44:49:08
Speaker 3
Please, please.
01:44:49:19 - 01:44:50:23
Lauren
I can't take it.
01:44:52:01 - 01:44:59:03
Gabe
I hope Carson and the DEA are still together at the end.
01:44:59:03 - 01:45:02:19
Lauren
Yeah, Maureen pretty lukewarm on her.
01:45:03:01 - 01:45:22:15
Gabe
It's not really her as far as. I just want Carson to be happy. I want him to have that completion. But just, you know something? It's been a long maybe it hasn't been a long time since Nancy's mom died. That's really confusing, obviously, with how their timeline works.
01:45:23:19 - 01:45:37:04
Lauren
That's what I'm saying. Like, I just I started thinking about it specifically because of Ryan and George interacting and like, because at the end of season one, she was telling him like, hey, you really messed up.
01:45:37:18 - 01:45:38:14
Speaker 3
In your life.
01:45:38:14 - 01:45:54:10
Lauren
I mean, I was really messed up. Like, that was it. I cannot believe you were hooking up with a 17 year old. Like, what is wrong with you? Or like having an affair with a 17 year old, no less. And that was the end of season one, almost two seasons ago.
01:45:55:03 - 01:45:56:28
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:45:56:28 - 01:46:04:00
Lauren
Now she's engaged and now not engaged and. And he's her friend's dad. And anyway.
01:46:04:22 - 01:46:22:28
Gabe
I feel like Ryan is still going to be single. We're still going to have the bromance rock hard taking care of Nancy. I feel like he's I feel like he could get a shit together and maybe he moves out of the house. But honestly, I wouldn't be upset if it just stayed together because I feel like there's also.
01:46:25:22 - 01:46:26:04
Speaker 3
And see.
01:46:26:07 - 01:46:36:16
Lauren
That's why I'm not sure if Carson will stay with the date or if he and Ryan are because like Ryan's not sleeping on their couch, but like.
01:46:37:19 - 01:46:38:26
Gabe
He has a room, I think.
01:46:39:21 - 01:46:40:05
Lauren
Yeah.
01:46:41:08 - 01:46:54:29
Gabe
You know what? Let's get rid of the day and. Just have the bromance. I would actually be so okay with that, to be honest. I think I would be that of working with up in the day because I feel like that might be more fulfilling for Carson.
01:46:54:29 - 01:46:55:24
Speaker 3
But go ahead.
01:46:56:24 - 01:47:05:00
Lauren
I had a thought, I think because she'll be involved in the ever at trial right?
01:47:05:00 - 01:47:06:04
Speaker 3
I don't think.
01:47:06:04 - 01:47:06:10
Gabe
So.
01:47:06:10 - 01:47:08:06
Speaker 3
She's the D.A. I.
01:47:08:06 - 01:47:10:27
Gabe
Think he has I think ever has his own.
01:47:11:29 - 01:47:15:14
Lauren
But she's a prosecutor.
01:47:15:14 - 01:47:33:09
Gabe
Well, she's a defense attorney. So she was working for anybody. It would be Everett. But Everett, I think, already has his own team. It's it's Carson who's a prosecutor.
01:47:33:09 - 01:47:42:03
Lauren
Carson was. Oh, and he also does pro-bono defense because all his people are like he's a defense.
01:47:42:03 - 01:47:42:22
Speaker 3
You know what?
01:47:43:23 - 01:48:03:09
Gabe
Now, I don't know. And I'm confused, you know, I don't know. But I don't think she's a part of it or she is she's going to get pulled into it because up until now, she hasn't been a part of it that could break up their relationship because they'd be.
01:48:03:09 - 01:48:05:14
Lauren
Going where I'm going with that.
01:48:06:01 - 01:48:10:20
Gabe
Yeah, because that one case was like she was taking stuff way too personally.
01:48:11:17 - 01:48:38:26
Lauren
And she was just like so confident in her own direction, even though she was wrong and she was, I mean, she was doing her job. Yeah. To be like, hey, this is what I'm arguing. Like she was when she was doing great at her debate. But, and that's again what she is being paid to do. So I cannot hold that against her.
01:48:40:06 - 01:49:15:02
Gabe
But it was more like the conversation before it where they couldn't go on the vacation and she's like, Can you just accept that he's guilty? And he's like, Except he's not. You don't have evidence to prove without a doubt that he did. So why don't you just accept basically dropping the charge from what it was to a lesser charge so he would not be punished as harshly as just.
01:49:15:02 - 01:49:17:08
Lauren
By that conversation in the kitchen?
01:49:17:24 - 01:49:18:16
Speaker 3
Yeah. Yeah.
01:49:18:27 - 01:49:23:17
Lauren
They're arguing the case, but, like, not in front of a judge.
01:49:23:17 - 01:49:24:23
Speaker 3
But yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:49:25:00 - 01:49:27:06
Lauren
In the kitchen, like. Mm.
01:49:27:15 - 01:49:48:25
Gabe
And that's the issue was all of a sudden like she took it all personally once they got in the courtroom, like as much as she was doing her job, she was taking everything Carson did personally, I felt and it was like just exact he's a piece of shit. I mean, that's literally what it felt like she was saying and bless.
01:49:48:26 - 01:49:51:09
Lauren
Is just like you can't trust.
01:49:51:22 - 01:49:52:08
Speaker 3
Like, yeah.
01:49:53:01 - 01:50:04:06
Lauren
You're like you have to trust your gut or whatever. Like, yeah. Now she was very, very convinced that this kid is that. I mean, everyone is convinced the kid was bad for truly no reason.
01:50:04:21 - 01:50:07:20
Speaker 3
All because. Yes, time didn't like her.
01:50:07:27 - 01:50:36:02
Lauren
I really did not like her in that scene. And I also thought it was really inappropriate that she and Carson were having a relationship. And also being in a courtroom together. Yeah, that was totally a conflict. I could not believe that the judge was like, Oh, allow this to, like continue to happen. But I guess the defendant could bring on any legal aid that they wanted.
01:50:36:02 - 01:50:41:17
Lauren
So but I think Jean should have excused herself from it.
01:50:42:04 - 01:50:43:10
Gabe
Her sole reason of.
01:50:43:10 - 01:50:43:25
Lauren
Interest.
01:50:44:04 - 01:51:18:03
Gabe
Was that because one time when she gave someone a second chance and then he went and killed his wife, that we can suddenly given nobody a second chance without world. I was like, okay. And then yeah. Then it turned out that he didn't do it and the guard was just a nincompoop. He was. The outcome was huge to blind, to have actually identified the kid as the one who stole the laptop and beat up a person, killed a person that it was beat up.
01:51:18:28 - 01:51:27:00
Lauren
Beat up because the guy came out of the coma like about a couple hours after court case was decided and was like, Yeah, it wasn't him.
01:51:27:12 - 01:51:27:22
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:51:28:01 - 01:51:40:20
Lauren
I was like, How quickly did we rush this court case? Like, when did this happen? These kind of court cases take months to get through, typically. Then I guess in a small town and all.
01:51:40:20 - 01:51:45:15
Gabe
I mean, depending on how badly he was beat, he could have been in a coma for months. It really depends.
01:51:45:28 - 01:51:47:25
Speaker 3
But yeah, it, it.
01:51:48:24 - 01:51:53:19
Gabe
It was what it was. It was wild. So you're right, Shipp. The bromance.
01:51:55:11 - 01:52:06:27
Lauren
Yes, I think. Yeah, the bromance again, training George.
01:52:06:27 - 01:52:07:19
Speaker 3
Oh, no.
01:52:07:24 - 01:52:10:08
Lauren
Training. Ryan to be like a dad.
01:52:10:18 - 01:52:11:11
Speaker 3
Mm hmm.
01:52:11:12 - 01:52:30:09
Lauren
And he was so cute when the kids at the the youth center liked him because he he's never had the chance to be a dad. And he just, like, it's so sad about that, even though he's, like, 36.
01:52:30:09 - 01:52:30:20
Speaker 3
Yeah.
01:52:31:03 - 01:52:36:04
Lauren
And still get married and be a dad or anything anyway.
01:52:36:08 - 01:52:37:15
Gabe
Any other predictions.
01:52:41:01 - 01:52:47:03
Lauren
At this point? No, they really didn't give us a lot to go on.
01:52:47:03 - 01:52:48:15
Gabe
It has to be the time to pack.
01:52:48:16 - 01:52:49:04
Lauren
A lot of loose.
01:52:49:18 - 01:52:58:02
Gabe
Yeah, because that's just how you close it out in season four is the they end it like that's what you have to do. Cannot just introduce something else.
01:52:58:29 - 01:53:26:22
Lauren
Especially because the road back started with that group of guys who were staying. Icarus Hall and an Icarus Hall is where there was that big murder scene where they all but two of them died. And then the two that dot or the two that survived ran off to create the road back to the White Lake Knights Templar ring around and were protecting their or in what looked like all of that happening in Icarus Hall.
01:53:27:20 - 01:53:28:22
Lauren
And Nancy now.
01:53:29:24 - 01:53:30:29
Gabe
Has a great hall, has.
01:53:30:29 - 01:53:35:21
Lauren
Her office and owns Icarus Hall. So I just think she's just going to find stuff in there.
01:53:36:16 - 01:54:08:16
Gabe
