John Thornton is probably the most fearless employee I’ve ever met. We got to know one another at an all day long event at innocent smoothie’s head quarters, where he worked at the time. I had the pleasure of both hanging out with him and getting to see him do what he does best, which is write. He has since moved on from innocent to work as the Senior Creative of Surreal, a healthy cereal brand but during his time copy writing for the well known and loved smoothie brand, he caused an internet-wide argument about a blue drink, nearly poisoned the nation's children with Conker Milk, got himself banned from the company LinkedIn account, enraged an army of Covid-deniers, had to be airbrushed out of the TV ad I wrote...and he says those were the better days. In his own words, it is a miracle he wasn't fired.
Hear about how he went from being told off at school for cheekiness to being told off at work for the same thing but somehow not enough to get in serious trouble and just enough to make a name for himself in the creative marketing world, for the right reasons.
