This podcast addresses the many issues women and all of us face when getting older and not believing in ourselves. . Thinking that because we are a particular age that it's all over. When really, we have the freedom to do whatever we want. When the kids are gone, so many women feel that their life is over. When actually, you have a second chance to do some of the things always wanted to do. Go for it, I say. It will also address life as it comes to me in many different ways. Some of the things I have been thru and some that I may be currently going thru. Some of the things I have done that may be interesting to you or maybe not. Being a narrator, audiobook producer, host, singer, songwriter, music producer, actress, trainer, mom, grandmother, starting a record label, manager, music producer, director, and going back to school so many things want to share. This is the pilot episode. I have been thinking about doing this Podcast for a while, but the idea for the first episode hit while I was making coffee. I was going to re-record it in my booth, but the content was so authentic. So please forgive the noise. I had to have my coffee extra strong that day. Enjoy it. I will launch the first episode in May 2022.
Hi everybody, you're about to listen to the pilot edition of Keep Trying Till You Get There The Podcast. Please forgive the roughness of it. I was making coffee and had an idea for the pilot. Recorded it and I was going to come into the booth and clean it up, but it was so raw and so authentic I decided to keep it as my pilot edition. Keep trying till you get there. The podcast will cover all things women, young, old, but we're gonna focus on women of a particular age. Anybody over fifty, because we seem to give up on certain things when we hit that age. And I don't want us to. So enjoy the pilot, forgive the noise, and join me in May for Keep Trying Till You Get There, the Podcast. Hosted by me, of course, Yolanda Burnett. If you want any more information about me, you know where to go. YolandaBurnett.com. Hi, and welcome to the introductory of the Keep Trying Till You Get There podcasts. The podcast is focused around women of a particular age. Unfortunately, some of us get to a particular age and we think that life is over. You know, we've raised our kids, we've stuck by our husbands in their careers, and my take on life is that once those kids are out that door, it's your time to shine. It's your time to do what you want to do with your life. You've made the sacrifices in life, and now it's your time to shine. You know what really gets to me sometimes is that some men, and a lot of men, if they're over 50, they're just beginning. They start businesses at 50, 60, 70, 80 years old, they'll start a business. Why can't we? Why can't we as women explore our other side as we get older? We're just getting ripe at a certain, to me, in my opinion, and this is what the podcast is all about. We're just getting ripe. You know, go out there and write that book. Go out there and become a personal trainer if you want to. Or if you want to do something really drastic become a thing, go out there and become an actress like I did. Yeah, that I'm not where I wanted to be, but I am doing what I love to do. So keep trying till you get there is a statement of life. You keep trying till you get there. I've been trying to get to my there for a long time, and I'm not necessarily a success, but I see the effect that some of the decisions that I've made in my life have affected my children's lives with the spirit of entrepreneurship. And sometimes being successful isn't in the amount of money. God knows we all that want that to be, but sometimes that's not that's not the case. Sometimes the seeds that you plant into your family take root. The spirit of entrepreneurship, the the spirit of not having babies, and and living your best life. One of the best things in my life is when I see a young woman who sit and I ask him, You got any kids again? No. I'm trying to live my best life, Miss Yolanda. So why don't we, as young as older women, want to live our best lives? Why must we put shackles on our feet because we're of a particular age? Or even worse yet, because somebody said you can't do it. Don't tell me that I can't do it. Because I'm gonna do it just to prove you wrong, maybe. Unless it's jumping out of an airplane. I would have to rethink that one. But there's not too much on this earth that I haven't done that I wanted to do. Did I succeed in all of them? No. A lot of them I did not. But I lived life on my terms. Do I have the best house? Nope. I could have had a fabulous house with the salary that me and my husband were bringing in at one time. But we chose to chase, both of us chose to chase our dreams. And one day it will pay off. I do believe that. I do believe that all of the sacrifices were worth it. But you gotta try. My favorite motivational book in the world is the Bible because it says faith without works is dead. In other words, if you don't go out there and plant a seed here, plant a seed there, nothing's going to work. Wishing is not going to get you there. But even if you fail, you tried. And to me, if you try, that's not failing. So what? Life is gonna slap you upside your head so hard that your wig comes off with the pins in it. There's nothing wrong with failing. Do you know I've learned the most about myself in failing? I've learned so much about myself in this delicate age of double nickels and a penny. There was a time when I was ashamed of how old I was, and then I turned around and I looked at so many of my friends, my high school mates, people that I admire in the public eye are not making it to double nickels and a penny. Some of them are not even making it to 50 cent. So I'm thankful and I'm grateful that I made it this far. And yes, I have some issues going on with my body. We'll be talking about that later in an upcoming podcast. But I'm still here. And I got so much I want to do. I got that little pink bag that I talked about in my book over in my closet. I want to dive into the possibility of making at least touching some of that stuff into this world. One of the greatest motivational speakers in the world is Les Brown said that where are the best hopes and dreams? They're all in the graveyard because some of us were too fearful of a no of what our friends and families might say. Who cares about them? They ain't doing nothing. Nobody think about them. Anyway, I diverted. Stay tuned. The first official podcast of Keep Trying Till You Get There. The podcast will be in May. I don't know what I'm gonna talk about. Maybe I'll just share a little bit of my life so that we can go on a great journey together. Many things that I've been through. My mom being killed by her partner, um, my sexual molestation, which I've really never talked about, um, depression, menopause, not being able to lose lose weight at a particular age when you're just out there doing your thing, being more smarter than men, and that intimidating them. No, they get intimidated by us. Anyway, everybody, tune in to next month, May 2022, and listen to the official uh the official, what is it, official podcast of the of Keep Trying Till You Get There, the Podcast. Have a good one. And remember, always believe in yourself. Because that's all you got.
