Have you ever felt like something that once fit… no longer does?

Like you’ve grown, your vision has expanded, and you know you can’t keep doing things the same way—even if they were good?

That’s exactly what this episode is about.

After much reflection, I’m sharing a personal update and closing this chapter of the Academic Revolution Podcast.

This podcast has been about helping academic physicians build meaningful, successful careers without sacrificing their personal lives—and that mission hasn’t changed.

But over time, I’ve felt increasingly led to integrate faith and medicine more intentionally into these conversations. Because many of the challenges we face in medicine aren’t just strategic… they’re deeper—touching identity, purpose, and what truly sustains us.

And there’s very little space in medicine to explore that in a meaningful, grounded way.

So rather than splitting these conversations across different spaces, I’m going all in on my other podcast:

👉 The Christian Physician Podcast

Over there, we’ll continue talking about leadership, career growth, and sustainable success, while also exploring how faith, purpose, and spiritual growth shape the way we practice medicine and care for our patients as whole persons.

If that resonates with you, I’d love for you to join me there.

And if it doesn’t—that’s okay too. I’m truly grateful you’ve been part of this journey.

Have you ever felt like something that once fit no longer does like you have grown, your vision has expanded, and you know that you can't keep doing the things the same way, even if those things were good. And that's exactly where I find myself now. Welcome back to another episode of the Academic Revolution Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Ingar Hoffman, and I know. I have not been on here for a while, and this has specific reasons, so let me share a little bit about that today. Today's episode is going to be a little different because this is going to be the final episode of this podcast. I know I'm a bit sad about it too, but perhaps let me explain how I arrived at this position. This podcast has been such an important part of my journey, and likely yours as well. It was created to challenge the traditional academic system to help physicians build meaningful success, successful careers, without sacrificing their personal life. And to remind you that you don't have to settle for burnout, overwhelm, or that publish or parish mentality. And I still believe this very deeply and continue to work with so many academic physicians. On this one-on-one in my coaching practice. So that mission hasn't really changed at all. My heart is still the same it is for you academic physicians. But over time I also realized something that has become increasingly clear to me. Many of the challenges we face in academic medicine. They aren't just strategic or structural. And while there's a lot of things we can do to improve our careers, and I wholeheartedly believe in leaderships and systems and support systems and strategies and habits and mastering our mind, I also. Have observed there, there are deeper issues going on and a lot of it has to do with our identity, our purpose, and that is what truly sustains us in the long run. Many of you have heard me probably mention before that my faith has always been super important to me and really has shaped how I approached both medicine and leadership. And if you have followed the show for any length of time, likely you have heard me talk about that and the value that faith has brought to this. To how I approach my job, how I approach leadership, how I think about things, and over the course of time through a series of events, I won't detail them here, so as of late, I have been really feeling led to go all in on that to more deeply and intentionally integrate faith into the conversations and the work I'm doing with physicians. Because the truth is there is very little space in medicine to talk about the intersection of medicine and spirituality in a meaningful, grounded way. And yet I believe that actually deeply matters, not only for us as physicians, but also for the care of our patients. When we begin to see people as a whole person, not just as a diagnosis or a problem to solve, it really changes how we lead and how we make decisions and how we show up in our work. And I realize that is a conversation I want to lean in more fully, and it has a lot to do with my own faith journey and some of the experiences I had with the intersection of faith and medicine, praying for one of my patients and actually observing a real miracle. That is still marvelous to me today. You can listen to that story on my other podcast the Question Physician and one of those earlier episodes. So rather than trying to split the conversation across different spaces and two different podcasts that I've been trying to juggle along, I've made the decision to focus my podcasting efforts fully in one place moving forward. So the Academic Revolution Podcast will remain here. You can absolutely continue to listen to all the past episodes. They're not going away. I'm just not gonna create any new episodes under this podcast, and if you follow me for a while, you already see this happening. I just wanted to let you know what's going on, why I haven't recorded in Avaya. Now instead, I'm going all in on my other podcast that's called the Christian Physician, and, and I want you to know this, I'm not leaving behind the topics we've talked about here. I will be still talking about leadership, building sustainable careers that are fulfilling and not sucking the life out of you. I am sure we'll be talking about forming habits and focus and prioritizing things and navigating challenges in academic medicine and the healthcare field across the board. But now I will be integrating those conversations more centered around faith, purpose, and spiritual growth in more intentional ways than I had before. So if you are listening to this and you're like, Hey, I'm actually curious about that, or it feels like there may be more to explore at that intersection of faith in medicine for you. Wonderful. I would love for you to join me there, and if that doesn't feel right for you, that's also Absolutely. Okay. I still love you. I honor you. I'm grateful you have been part of this journey. For many of you, you have been not only listening to the podcast, but you have. Also being a coaching client of mine and I continue to work with coaching clients in the academic physician space. So I honor and appreciate you so much. One more thing I want you to know is that I'm still very much continuing my work coaching academic physicians. That has not changed. I actually have leaned more into this I work with physicians in a very high touch, high support coaching environment where we are focusing on gaining clarity on career direction, strengthening leadership identity, building sustainable performance without burnout centered around habits and weekly rhythms and structure and systems to support your goals. And creating a career that ultimately aligns with your life and doesn't suck the life out of you. So I have been doing this all along now for nearly a decade and actually pressing into this a lot more too. And I just needed to create space to focus on the coaching clients and the other podcast. So if you are interested in being supported. If that's something you're looking for if you need coaching support that is individualized, very high touch support, not some AI support, you're getting more and more increasingly these days, but really working with a physician coach. One-on-one that very much understands the journey in academic medicine. Please reach out to me. I'm actually getting a new application. Website started, so things might look a little bit different the link is inga hofman coaching.com/application. So again, inga hofman.com/application. I will put it in the show notes as well so you know how to get in touch with me. And to all those who have listened, shared being part of this podcast from the beginning. Thank you so much. This has been truly a meaningful chapter. I've enjoyed this journey. I personally learned a ton creating a podcast putting content out there and just supporting academic physicians. Like you, and while this part is coming to a close, like I said, the mission continues. It's just in a new, refreshed and more aligned way for me personally. For now. I'm doing what I often encourage my clients to do is prioritize, which means focusing more intentionally. On the ministry side of my work, supporting physicians, I have a prayer ministry supporting physicians just in prayer. So if that's something of interest to you, you can check it out, reach out to me, and also serving my current academic physician, coaching clients at a higher level. And as we only have 24 hours in a day, and I think we sometimes have to make choices. What was good for a while is not what leads you into the future, and I just feel called and let into this direction and who knows? I might feel led to return into the space in the future in a podcasting capacity. And I will. But as I mentioned, I'm not leaving the academic physician coaching space or support. Actually, I've been more busy in that space than ever. Part of the reason to having to prioritize. But for now, this feels like the right step for me. And if it feels like a fit, I would love to see you over on the Christian Physician Podcast. And would love to welcome you there. With that said, I wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you. I care for you. I am here. To support you whenever you need me. You certainly can check out that coaching application website. I will put in the show notes. You can also email me very simple at inga ING a@ingahoman.com. That's one F to N. Link is in the show notes. Or just send me a message via the podcast app. There's usually a link to send a text that will go directly into my email inbox as well. So thank you so much. You have a wonderful day. Be blessed. God bless you. Take care and talk to you soon.
