School of Rock (2003), directed by Richard Linklater, stars Jack Black as Dewey Finn, a struggling rock guitarist who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Discovering his students' musical talents, he forms a secret rock band with them to compete in a local Battle of the Bands. The film also features Joan Cusack, Mike White, and Sarah Silverman.
