There is a decision that can โ literally โ make the practical difference that allows you achieve the things you know you have the potential for and you want to make happen!
It is a decision you can make at any time that will give you a real fresh start moving forward, and the days leading up to Yom Kippur are the perfect time to talk about it.
Support the showWe all have values, but if someone observed you living life for a day, would their opinion of your values match your own?
Why is it that too often our lives don't reflect our values as much as we'd like?
What can we do about it?
Support the showEach of us is unique, better at some things and weaker at others, so which combination of characteristics is most valuable?
What is THE most valuable characteristic?
What IS it that determines how valuable each of us is?
We can't really ask The Creator, and even if we could, actions speak louder than words; we CAN look at The Creator's behavior, and when we pay attention the answer is clear.
Support the showIs it actually possible for us to introduce happiness into our lives?
This question has been addressed ad nauseum, BUT in today's podcast episode I approach it in a novel way that Iโm confident will leave you with:
You can decide to be free; if you want to and you know how.
Life is complicated. For all of us.
With some clarity about what will and will not give us the freedom we're working to achieve, we can put our time and effort into the things that will actually make a difference.

Support the showTo cry?
Or not to cry?
Crying can be very therapeutic. When circumstances causes us pain, processing the pain and express it through crying leaves us better able to deal with being in those difficult circumstances in much healthier state than if all those negative emotions were still pent-up inside unprocessed.
Considering how beneficial crying is, should one ever recommend not choosing to cry about being in painful circumstances?
The answer is a resounding YES! Sometimes.
A deep lesson from encounters between Yaakov, Yosef, and Binyamin in this week's #Torah potion.

Dancing the fine line between one standard in our personal lives and another when facing challenges, this double standard will add to our life experience rather than take away from it.

Support the showI hear people talk plenty about investing in their long term financial wellbeing, but it is far less often that I hear people talk about investing in themselves, and this second category of investment is no less important than the first.
There are a number of investments we can make in ourselves, and this new podcast episode for Tisha B'Av (Investing is an underlying theme of Tisha B'Av) discusses some of the highest ROI investments we can possibly make in ourselves.

What do you struggle with more: being humble or being proud?
Can you imagine having to be both at the same time??
The truth is that Judaism has always been about being BOTH humble AND proud.
They may seem to be opposites, and they certainly can be, but they definitely do not need to be.
As soon as we understand what real humility is and what healthy pride is, there is no reason we cannot have both at the same time.
And when as we find that balance and work on tweaking it, we live a life in which we canย wake up every morning feeling energized, and go to sleep every night feeling deeply fulfilled.
