Show Notes

In episode 48 of Ellected you get to hear a conversation that wouldn't have happened in 2009. That's the year BC NDP MLA Michelle Mungall was first elected to the BC Legislature in opposition and that was also almost two years into my time as a staffer for the then BC Liberal government. We played on different political teams but now we are talking about Michelle's time in opposition and government, about her being the first woman and person to ever bring their child on to the floor of the BC Legislature and the book she's now in the midst of writing that has the working title of 'Minister Mom.'

More about Michelle Mungall:

In 2002, Michelle was the youngest person ever elected to Nelson city council, and seven years later, at age 31, Michelle became the first woman elected as MLA in Nelson-Creston for the BC NDP in 2009 and was re-electedin 2013 and 2017.

Michelle served as the Official Opposition Opposition spokesperson for social development, Caucus Deputy House Leader, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness and Minister for Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

Michelle now works in the private sector and is working on her first book. She and her family live in Nelson, BC.
