From Bluey to Box Cutters: Rock Hall of Fame Recap

Ever been shoulder-checked while holding a box cutter during a major candle sale? That's just a slice of the chaos we unpack this week on the Hook and Bridge podcast. Taylor recently gave her two-week notice with a heavy heart and an impressive track record, and the rollercoaster of emotions and hilarity that ensued is something you're going to want to hear. Between tales of managing a bustling store and the unexpected antics of customers, there's plenty of laughter and camaraderie to go around.
Switching from the workplace to the heart, we explore the nuances of giving and receiving love through touching personal anecdotes. A beautifully crafted wallet and engraved sheet music exchanged for a wedding anniversary remind us of the power of meaningful gestures. We also find ourselves pondering the peculiar trend of people withdrawing cash every four years and reflect on the emotional impact of watching the animated series Bluey. These stories are sprinkled with warmth and humor, making it a segment you won’t want to miss.
As the music world celebrates, so do we, with a dynamic recap of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. From Cher’s induction by Zendaya and Dua Lipa to Ozzy Osbourne’s rock tribute, we cover it all with a mix of awe and amusement. Even the playful chaos of our music guessing game—where mistaken guesses spark laughter—captures the spirit of our podcast. Join us as we celebrate music, share stories, and engage in word games that will keep you entertained and guessing until the very end.

I fucking love. I'm telling you I'm the worst person to have a podcast.
Speaker 1I can barely oh my god, I love three nicks.
Speaker 2What is up everybody? Welcome back to the Hook and Bridge podcast. I am your host, harley, joined by my co-host and little sister, taylor, our executive producer, my lovely wife Lindsay, and our audio engineer, my seed Adam.
Speaker 1Adam.
Speaker 2We got to come up with a different thing to call him.
Speaker 3I like my smaller seed.
Speaker 1Yeah, I agree, that sounds disgusting.
Speaker 3Look at his cute little baby face. Get out of town, he's such a little baby.
Speaker 2We'll call him my boy from now on my boy, get out of town. What's up?
Speaker 3Nothing much I put on my two-week notice.
Speaker 2All that was on the first right.
Speaker 3How did that go better than what I thought. So there's that they are pretty sad to leave me, or for me to leave them. Sorry, yeah they're. They're pretty, pretty upset. I'm just too good at my job. I don't know, though, I've been batting a thousand the past couple days. I was like that's crazy. I just keep mistake after mistake. I'm like, guys, I'm sorry You're overworking me Making silly little mistakes. Forgot to give a lady her bag today. She'll realize it when she gets home and come back. Yeah, so, but I put in my two week that I called my bestie there and I was like, hey, before I put on my two weeks, I said I didn't want you to hear from nobody else, but this is happening. She cried. We're going to go have breakfast on Tuesday, me and the other ladies there. Yeah, I was invited. It's going to be a farewell thing. So I'm pretty sad to leave her, but they got me working eight hour shifts all weekend.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 3I'm surprised they let you work it out, to be honest oh no you weren't there very long when I tell you I'm really good at my job. I'm really good at my job. Well, it's not a hard job, like let me put that out there, I'm like doing the job.
Speaker 3So I think that's better than I feel like that's like 50 of the work it's just doing it um, yeah, no, it's, they're trying to have me train another girl on register, because I I don't know if I talked about on here, but I got our enrollment up um by 13 well, actually higher than that. So my first couple weeks there I got it from like 7 to thirteen percent and then, after not even a month of me working, I got it from the thirteen percent up to like a twenty four percent.
Speaker 3Wow damn buddy yeah and and she was like well, I need you to train people, like you're the best person I've had on this. And I was like girl, I'm just asking people if they're a member. Like there's nothing. I'm like it's easy give me your name, phone number, email 30 seconds, like I'm a quick typer. But yeah, and she was like well, I guess people just aren't asking. And I was like you, you told me that was a big thing. I did it like that's it. I got a whole gift.
Speaker 3They gave me a voucher yeah, because I got them up, so it's the highest that it's ever been.
Speaker 2Wow, that's crazy, yeah, so they're real sad to lose me um, we're passing some we got positions open buddy that's okay, you and I could take the store over buddy, I'd be fired day one I need you to understand this no, you and I walk in.
Speaker 3We get rid of everybody and you walk in and say we're here to fuck shit up, yeah, and then and then we get dylan here, then it's just a family fast and all I mean no, I love that I'm surprised I haven't been fired because I've made it very clear that I had another customer yell at me and, like I'm not doing that, you can go somewhere else like I don't care that's how right like I don't get paid enough for you to care, like I'm like, go, go away. What do you mean? I did have a lady shoulder check me yesterday, so there was that, yeah oh, I would listen we?
Speaker 3we haven't. I'm sorry. I know you said keep this relatively short, we haven't chatted in a while. Had a woman I was breaking down boxes. Had a woman I our store is down boxes. Had a woman Our store is small. Okay, we had this huge candle sale. You probably don't know what Candle Day is, lindsay might, but it's like this huge thing that Bath Bodywear sells, where all of our candles are dirt cheap. So they did a pop-up sale this weekend which was like a preview of the Candle Day sale. But everyone has a 25% off coupon, so that makes these three wick candles that are normally 40 eight bucks dang everyone was there.
Speaker 3My like it's been insane. Everyone and their mother was there. So we had to keep reloading these candles. So we were out on the pods. I've done so much lifting. I woke up this morning I thought I got hit by a bus. Like I couldn't move. It was insane. But I was breaking it on box yesterday and I was kind of like in the corner trying to stay, you know, away from people but I had like my full, like arms out breaking down a box. I had a box cutter in my hand. She doesn't even say excuse me, walks by me, goes. I said wow, you could have said excuse me, bud. That's crazy, like how to move.
Speaker 2She didn't even apologize did she work there or was she a customer?
Speaker 3that's crazy that's insane, that I'm holding a knife that's crazy, oh after that I went. I went in the that's great, you should protect me. After that I went in the bathroom and cried.
Speaker 1I was like I can't do it.
Speaker 3Because we have to be nice, like that's the thing I'm like she just told her to protect me. What am I supposed to do? I'm not being nice anymore, anyways, yeah, what am I?
Speaker 2doing. I hear you, buddy. I have a customer that I have been working with for six years Six years of work of building this account up going through. I've been through three different safety managers over there. Every one of them liked a different supplier. So the first lady was like I only use MSC. Then the next guy was like I love fast and all.
Speaker 2And then this new guy came in and he was like I don't care who it is, as long as my shit's here yeah now six years of working with this customer and their corporate office stepped in out of the blue and was just like we're going granger nationwide I.
Speaker 3I heard you tell a mom about that.
Speaker 2Oh, I couldn't 16 years all that work of building up like a rapport and everything that's awful yeah, got them from a thousand dollars a month to fifteen thousand dollars a month, wow, and just gone in the blink of an eye. And I, it's not my fault- no, there's nothing you can do.
Speaker 3There's nothing you can do. At that point I found out that because our manager is always pushing for us to be green on the month that's what she calls it being green on the month and I just thought it was for us to get higher ranking or whatever, like oh, good job, here's some pizza. You know what I mean? She gets a $2,500 bonus.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, it's called a commission. She sits in the back, yeah.
Speaker 3I'm the one doing that. I found that out the other day and I was like, wow, I could scream Welcome to the world of business.
Speaker 2People in charge do half the work and collect all of the money you want to hear something even more crazy?
Speaker 3sorry, I'll be done in a second. Anyways, we ran out of change. She didn't order change that happens, you gotta go to the bank no, we can't do that why we had to close the riches because we have to order it from a like from the company. Like it's being, it gets sent in a truck oh, we used to at sherwin williams.
Speaker 3Just go down to the bank well, that's what other places like pizza hut does. That too, yeah, nope, we have to order it from a truck. So friday I ran out of change. Well, I started my drawer out with no like, no fives, no tens. I said, wow, that's crazy. What am I supposed to do? So I'm giving everyone. I had to give a lady or no, I had fives. I had to give a lady 40 back and change, because everyone has hundred dollar bills and fives that reminds me of a fun story.
Speaker 2So we all know on this show how bad I am at math, yeah, and so when I worked at sherwin-williams, when we would do stuff, yeah you would type in the product right and it pops up on the computer how much it costs yeah you would type in what they gave you and then it would tell you what you owed them. Right made it very easy, very clear one day the computer broke and then for seven days straight I had to calculate people's money were seven days of my life we.
Gifts of Love and Gratitude
Speaker 3We have an issue with ours that like if you're not a reward member and I can do basic math like that needs to be said like I can do but and we have a calculator, like it's not hard, but if you're not a rewards member and you're paying in cash, at the end it'll pop up like you said, like with how much you owe them or whatever. But if you're not a remorse member, it pops up with a reward screen on to sign them up and the change goes away completely. And that happened my first like week there. I had to call them up, the manager up three different times because it happened. I'm like why does this keep happening? Like why this is a flaw in the system. This't happen because I don't remember their total, like that's not something I'm thinking about. So you'd have to like close the cash drawer, print out the receipt, look at what you owe them.
Speaker 3The manager would have to log in, open the cash drawer and then you have to sign a bunch of paperwork that it happened dude and I like, and I would tell people I'm like I can do, like it makes me feel silly, so I'm like I can do the basic math. You know, I was like I can't remember, like I don't know what your total was.
Speaker 2I have no idea yeah, dude, that was so. We got a call every day that that computer was down, that somebody, because at the end of the night I would take the money to the bank that was what we had to do yeah in the middle of the night that's terrifying, I Did.
Speaker 2I ever tell you about that. I would have to drive my car every night at the end of the day to the bank downtown, yeah, and drop off the money in a baggie, and I'd have to pull this thing down and put it in there. Yeah, that's terrifying. Anyways, the next day we would get a phone call from corporate saying, hey, your money was off seven days in a row.
Speaker 1And you had to be like, yeah, you got me doing math.
Speaker 3We can't go. Yeah, no, it was, I was telling the manager. I said hey, because we had to open up all the drawers. So normally there's four registers, but now we have like a makeshift fifth one in the middle because we have so many people in there. But she was counting the drawers, she said, wow, these two end computers which we never use for checking people out, it's only used for like online things. She's like wow, there's no change in here yeah what am I supposed to do?
Speaker 3like we have no change? I said everyone the past three days has been paying in cash. She said no one ever has cash anymore. I wonder why. And I said it's almost like every four years people think the world's going to end and they get all of their money out of the bank Every four years. Who would have thought I was like not to be that person, but it happens every four years. It happens every four years. People just give me money in the bank, just keep it there, it's fine. I was like yeah, I said so. Everyone's using their cash because they think that the banks are going to be gone tomorrow. And she was like huh, I didn't think about that. I was like okay.
Speaker 1We also had two computers crash today that was rough.
Speaker 2You want to say anything?
Speaker 1What do you want me to say?
Speaker 2I'm just watching you dozing off over there.
Speaker 1I'm not dozing off, I'm still rocking the chair.
Speaker 2Do you have any update that you want to give?
Speaker 1I've almost finished the entire series of Bluey, essentially by myself, because my child sleeps.
Speaker 2Yeah, she loves this show.
Speaker 1I get it.
Speaker 3I'm excited to watch it. It's probably going to make me cry. It will.
Speaker 1Yep. First, like three episodes I watched, Balled my eyes out Yep.
Speaker 3I had. Speaking of crying in dogs, I I had. Hopefully this doesn't make you guys sad I hope not, but we had a customer come in and she had a dog named ruby oh and it was really sweet and she was the same color. That ruby was definitely a different. Dog like this was a whole lot like full-on poodle that she had.
Speaker 3But she went, oh, her name's ruby, and I was like, oh, that's really nice, I was gonna take a picture, but our district manager was there, so I was like not allowed on my phone anyways so dumb so dumb um, I I got a fun thing.
Speaker 2I I can talk to you about it after. There's not a big deal, never mind, um so or you could talk about it now well, it was like inside baseball stuff, but um, there's this it's, it's just a turn of phrase, um, there's this, uh podcast turn of phrase yeah huh. Why do you guys do this every time I'm on the show?
Speaker 1because you act like a different person I've never heard. You're not, you know. I just complained about how terrible you are at math yeah, I'm academically dumb, but I just I've never heard that.
Speaker 2I've never heard either one of those like last time we did a show tay Taylor. I used the phrase topical and it was a 10-minute discussion. No, listen, listen it's not.
Speaker 3I'm sure your thing was right, I just have never heard it. In that sense, I learned something new. I'm excited to learn my brain's a sponge.
Speaker 2You know, turn a phrase Like you turn a phrase.
Speaker 3Oh how the turntables.
Speaker 2It's a anyways, go ahead anyways this podcast is looking for educators to talk to, and I don't know if you'd be interested in being a guest you could promote our show at the end of course you have an ulterior motive well, that's the connection, that's how you would be going on as a Hook and Mews person, but I don't know if you'd be interested.
Speaker 2Well, that's the connection. You would be going on as a hook and loop content person, but I didn't know if you'd be interested. We'll see. It was our wedding anniversary recently. It was the big number three.
Speaker 1You had to check.
Speaker 2And that gift in your gift giving guide is supposed to be leather.
Speaker 1For the traditional.
Speaker 2For traditional gift giving of anniversaries. There's also the modern version. I don't know what that one is. No, I'm not married. Yeah, well, when you are, when you get married, there's a list of gifts and so far we've followed them every year, and this year was leather and Lindsay got me a new wallet and it is. I don't know if it's going to show up on here, Probably not.
Speaker 3That's crazy. You're showing everyone your ID and debit card.
Speaker 1Oh Oops Well you know that's the thing. Yay, you can read what it says um are you gonna wear that or it?
Speaker 2says uh. It says um, I can barely see it um. It says harley, happy third wedding anniversary to my husband, my soulmate, my dingus. I love you forever and always. Love your wife, your player to your dingbat. Lindsey is engraved on the inside in the leather I love that this is engraved in there it is um, and then I got her this letter um I saw you saw it okay, uh, so this is the sheet music for the song. More than words by extreme yeah engraved on leather and put it in right now huh I'll cry right now.
Speaker 2That's so sweet, it's, it's really cool it's a really nice um well, if your gifts are so sweet.
Speaker 3It's really cool.
Speaker 2It's a really nice gift.
Speaker 3Both of your gifts are so sweet. I love things engraved, like something about having an engraving that like melts my heart.
Speaker 2So I was on Amazon. That's how I found this I was on. Amazon and I was like this is perfect. So I ordered it and it came in this very, very nice packaging. It was hand-wrapped, hand-wound, with a very nice red string, and it had this little what do you call it? A garnish.
Speaker 1I mean, that's like food terms, like a white ball Like a decoration on the front of it. It's like a fridge magnet that they made. But at the time I just thought it was like a little thing on the packaging, I was like this is really nice, um.
Speaker 2So then I opened it up and inside was this letter, so I wanted to read it. Am I gonna cry? I don't think so. Okay, it's just nice. Uh, it says hi, we are a small family business. Together with my wife, we turned a room of our house into a workshop and we prepare all orders here with pleasure. Thank you very much for supporting us in our growth by shopping. We send you the key chains we produce from the leather as a gift and a small fridge ornament as a small souvenir from us. Reviews and five-star ratings are very important to us, so please don't forget to leave a five-star rating and a photo review if you want to support us. I wish you and your family a happy and healthy life. Kind regards, and I'm unsure how to pronounce that name.
Speaker 1Barris, karakaya, karakaya, karakaya. Something Can you guys?
Speaker 3send me the link. Yeah, because I would love to do something for mom with her favorite hymn. Yeah, you can do all kinds of stuff. Taylor.
Speaker 2But they sent these little keychains.
Speaker 3Stop, that's so nice.
Speaker 2They sent two of them in two different colored leathers. That's so nice. I think I've made Taylor cry on every show since she's left. That's so nice. The company is called Leather Wall Art. Their Instagram is LWA Gifts G-i-f-t-s um and their instagram's awesome. They have not nearly enough support for what they produced, I mean this is what was it again uh, it's lwa WA Gifts, gifts, gifts and the company is called Leather Wall Art.
Speaker 2But they were on Amazon, so I'm going to leave them a review and then I'm going to also send him this clip from our show. But I mean, the quality on this thing is incredible, like it's very nice leather. They got it done in like two days. The longest part was the shipping, and that wasn't even there. Really, yeah, it was done and in FedEx within two days.
Speaker 3What was their Amazon storefront again?
Speaker 2I think it's called Leather Wall Art. You're going to have to send me a picture of their? Um. Yeah, yeah, I'll send it to you, but I just want, if you're interested, if you're listening and you're interested, um, this gift cost? It was 39 originally, but once I did all of my customization, it ended up being $69 worth every penny. This is a very nice frame, the, the. It came with a stand so that you can set it up instead of hanging it and, like I said, the quality on the actual leather itself is really really nice and it's it's engraved very nicely, it's very legible, you can get it in a bunch of different colors and they'll put pretty much anything on leather that you send them.
Speaker 1So great gift idea.
Speaker 3Agreed.
Speaker 2For anybody that loves music. Fantastic gift idea, and, yeah, I think that's.
Rock Hall of Fame Recap
Speaker 3Lindsay, did you also get your wallet off Amazon? Is that something that I could find?
Speaker 1No, I got mine from Etsy.
Speaker 3Oh okay, they're so expensive.
Speaker 1Yeah, personalized things. I typically try to get from Etsy, though, because of things like that.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 1Because it's you know directly from.
Speaker 3And it's just better quality yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, the wallet's extremely nice. It's very durable.
Speaker 3I was going to say it looked really durable.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's a very nice wallet. It's a little full at the moment. I need to empty it out a little bit. With all that cash.
Speaker 3I wish, listen, sorry, that just reminded me. So when the hurricane hit, dylan went and took a bunch of cash out of the bank because the banks actually were closed. Anyways, he took a bunch of cash out of the bank so he could do things, and I was on FaceTime with him a couple of days ago and Shmilo was with me on FaceTime and he pulled out money out of his wallet to pay for his food, because he's like I have all this cash, I might as well use it. And Shiloh went okay, you're rich.
Speaker 3He was like it's a $20 bill $20 is $20. $20 is $20.
Speaker 2Oh, that's funny. So the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame happened. The induction ceremony. Lindsay and I watched it in its entirety.
Speaker 1We weren't planning on it. We fast forwarded a whole lot.
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean, we fast forwarded through.
Speaker 3It was like five or six hours long. Yeah, it was four and a half hours long. Yeah, that's insane.
Speaker 2We did fast forward through a decent chunk of stuff, but the important parts we caught. The important parts. I would say I didn't sit and listen to like Everyone's speeches, but the performances we watched all of the performances Besides A Tribe Called Quest Just because I don't really and Kool and the Gang. I didn't really know any of their stuff, but outside of that we watched everybody. But the highlights stuff, but outside of that we watched Everybody. But the highlights. Basically, cher was inducted, which was a huge one. Taylor, I want to show you.
Speaker 1She has music that spans over seven decades, seven or six.
Speaker 2Seven, seven decades. Was it seven or six? Seven, seven decades Is she?
Speaker 170?.
Speaker 2I think 75.
Speaker 1A little bit older, I think, maybe I don't know, so she started doing.
Speaker 3A decade is 10 years, right? I'm not tripping, right? I thought Cher was the one in the middle and I was like, wow, I could barely get out of bed this morning and that's what Cher looks like. That's crazy.
Speaker 2I just wanted to make that bigger, but I don't.
Speaker 3Oh, is that Zendaya?
Speaker 1Yeah, she's the one who introduced her, and she also chose that outfit because it kind of replicates one of the outfits that Cher wore. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3She is fantastic and an underrated musician, like I know. She's an actress, yes, but the voice Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2Yeah, that was Zendaya's outfit and then Dua Lipa performed. Oh, I love that Dua Lipa's, and that was her outfit.
Speaker 3It's very Cher also.
Speaker 2Yeah, they both kind of like replicated a Cher outfit you basically saw her everything. It was wild, taylor. Wow, I'm sure it was wild, is that?
Speaker 3Charli D'Amelio.
Speaker 2No, that's Dua Lipa.
Speaker 3Wow, from afar they kind of look the same.
Speaker 1She has like no anything underneath the back this whole hoo-ha. Yeah.
Speaker 3That's crazy.
Speaker 2They inducted Ozzy, which was awesome. Jack Black did the speech to bring up Ozzy and then hung out with him on stage.
Speaker 1I love that it was incredible.
Speaker 2Maynard James Keenan performed.
Speaker 3Ozzy Osbourne has had better days. Sorry, go ahead.
Speaker 2Jelly Roll performed Zach Wild, billy Idol, billy Idol, chad Smith from the.
Speaker 1Chili.
Speaker 2Peppers. So that performance was incredible. Smith from the Chili Peppers that performance was incredible.
Speaker 1Foreigner got inducted One of the most amazing performances I have ever seen, and they had Lou Graham, the original singer, come back on and he sang with them.
Speaker 3That's incredible. I can't believe Foreigner wasn't in there before. I can't wrap my head around that. That's crazy.
Speaker 2But they had Kelly Clarkson perform for Foreigner and she did. I Want to Know what Love Is Amazing. Oh my god, Taylor.
Speaker 3I'm going to have to watch it after this. I love Kelly Clarkson's voice, her wah vocals.
Speaker 2Incredible.
Speaker 1Mary J Blige.
Speaker 2Maryary j blige got in and that speech.
Speaker 1If you want, oh, taylor I can't.
Speaker 2We can't watch it on this show, but if you're listening, um, go listen to the speech that dr dre gave and method man and Method man for Mary J Blige.
Speaker 1So funny.
Speaker 2It is unreal. It is an unreal speech.
Speaker 1The thing is they get these speeches beforehand. Yeah, and they're supposed to practice them. Yeah, so they're used to what it says. Yeah, you can tell he read it. That was the first time he's ever read it.
Speaker 2It was the first time he's ever. It was the first time he's ever seen it tripping over words he reads, reads like me, he reads, he reads like me. That's really funny. He was reading like it was a book report. He was he and he can't see too, because he's like he's like trying to like, went and see what it says and he's like bent over, weird it was. The whole thing was crazy, yeah, and it went on for way too long. It was like 10-ish minutes, that's insane.
Speaker 1Oh, and then uh, dave massey's band yes, they performed.
Speaker 2Oh, jimmy buffett got inducted good it was oh it was so sad.
Speaker 3It was so sad.
Speaker 1And then Kenny Chesney performed, or him and some other people performed.
Speaker 2Yeah, kenny Chesney, some of Jimmy Buffett's songs oh. What's his name? Taylor, something, james Taylor, kenny Chesney.
Speaker 1And I don't know who the other guy was.
Speaker 2I don't know who the other guy was yeah. Dave Matthews performed a Jimmy Buffett song. It was great. It was so good my heart. Great performances all around. There wasn't a bad performance that night at all. I was happy with the list.
Speaker 1The people that got inducted. Everyone deserved to get inducted.
Speaker 2Dua Lipa was a little pitchy. Yeah, she did get a little choppy there, but she found it. She found it. It took a minute, but she found it.
Speaker 1But she was a model before she was a singer, that's true.
Speaker 2She also sang the hardest Cher song, I would say.
Speaker 1There's harder songs.
Speaker 2I'm excited to watch Kelly.
Speaker 3Clarkson's performance.
Speaker 2It's incredible.
Speaker 3I want to pause so I can watch it. Right now I need to see.
Speaker 2So good. But yeah, if you get a chance, go check out the whole show. It was really good. Even if you, like I said, if you just fast forward like we did and just watch their performances, it's on Disney+ and yeah, it's worth it. Or just go to YouTube and watch their performances. It was really good. The Ozzy Osbourne one was insane.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2The massive amount of talent that went out on that stage and performed. You know there was one bad performance. Jelly Roll cannot sing. Mama, I'm Coming Home. That was, he couldn't find those notes he has a very smoker voice he does and, like I, it's not even his fault. He started to sing in his registry yeah, register register, register yeah like he sang in his tone yeah but the band didn't change keys to match him. They played the original key no, that's messed up.
Speaker 2That's on them and ozzy sings in a higher register than jelly roll can. Yeah, so I don't necessarily blame him, and he was trying like hell to find the note but he couldn't find it no, that's definitely. The band should have changed it felt in, it felt like he hadn't practiced yeah like they didn't practice that particular song together yeah, they should, like he was just at the show and they're like you want to go on.
Speaker 2He was like hell yeah yeah but I could be wrong, but I know he was definitely struggling to find the mama, specifically the mama I'm coming home note yeah, like he's a good singer, like I don't know, he's not bad.
Speaker 3No, he's like he's fine.
Speaker 2He's a much better songwriter than he is a singer.
Speaker 3Oh, that's fair, I'll give you that.
Speaker 2Yeah, and he's not like a great songwriter, if I'm being honest. He's fine.
Speaker 3That's what I'm saying. He's fine. I want to hear him on the radio and be like he's good.
Speaker 2He's putting out a good message into the world, and that's what matters Spreading positivity.
Speaker 3Love it.
Speaker 2So, anyways, I think that pretty much recaps the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is there anything that I'm not remembering? Oh, during the Dave Matthews band section, who was that actress that came out and presented for them?
Speaker 1Julia Roberts.
Speaker 2Julia Roberts wants to fuck Dave Matthews so bad.
Speaker 1Talking all about it in front of her husband that was also in the crowd.
Speaker 2And he was on coke, for sure.
Speaker 1Dave Matthews. No, her husband oh probably.
Speaker 2And did you see Dave Matthews? Dave Matthews looks like an asshole. He looked like he was not wanting to be there.
Speaker 1He is an asshole.
Speaker 2He was like I have so many other things I would rather be doing, but every time she talked about, maybe it's because his wife was there and that was making him mad, or maybe it caused an argument earlier in the evening. I don't. Maybe it's because his wife was there and that was making him mad, or maybe it caused an argument earlier in the evening. I don't know, but every time Julia Roberts talked he looked so angry with every word coming out of her mouth. It was crazy.
Speaker 2He's a cutie, dave Matthews. Yeah, he's an alright guy, I like him, he's alright. I like the band.
Speaker 1He's from Virginia.
Speaker 2He is from Virginia. I think Virginia Beach.
Speaker 1I don't know?
Speaker 2Well, they were talking about a bar that they started at. That was on Virginia Beach. So yeah, pretty cool stuff, but the performance.
Speaker 3Sorry.
Speaker 2I know, but her hair is so beautiful. She has aged differently I love her hair. I don't think she's aged bad. I don't think she looks bad.
Speaker 3No, she just looks like she'd eat my soul.
Speaker 1Because her mouth is so big.
Speaker 2She looks like the girl from Jurassic Park now, like if you put them side by side, the Lauren.
Speaker 1Laura Dern.
Speaker 2Laura Dern. If you put them side by side, I'd be like, yeah, I can see that they're sisters or something no.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2But yeah, Dave Matthews seemed quite upset with the things that she was saying.
Speaker 1Emma Roberts is her niece Really.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm, I didn't know that. Mm-hmm, laura Dern and Juliats look nothing alike. No, I was thinking you're thinking of the girl from jurassic world, not jurassic park?
Speaker 2no, I think the original jurassic park, the one that was with dr grant yeah she played ellie I know, I know who she is.
Speaker 3I'm just saying I think you're thinking of the other girl I'm not.
Speaker 2The other girl is a redhead and looks nothing like julia roberts let me see I I forget her name from jurassic world um you're right, they look nothing alike christine, something dallas howard
Speaker 2bryce dallas howard, damn it. Um, anyways, that was the end of the the rock and roll hall of fame induction ceremony. They were they were the last ones. That could also be why, if I had to sit there for six hours on a chance and you have no idea how long they were there before the show you know what I mean. He could have been there like nine hours.
Speaker 1That's why they're all sitting at tables and they have food and drinks. I mean to think if you were Dave Matthews and you were the last person, you couldn't really do anything that entire time.
Speaker 2Right, because you have to perform.
Speaker 1Certain foods affect your voice. Certain drinks affect your voice.
Speaker 2Yeah, he could have just been. I would have been pissed. Could have just been on the line.
Speaker 1Could you imagine how much fun Cher had after that, Because she was first.
Speaker 2Oh hell yeah, she's probably trash.
Speaker 1She had a good time.
Speaker 2Or she was smart and went home, because that's what I would do.
Speaker 1I got an AP in bedtime yeah.
Speaker 2She went, took her pictures and said all right, I'm getting the fuck out of here.
Speaker 3Doesn't she have a 30-year-old husband now, or something?
Music Games and Wordle Fun
Speaker 1They're not married. But her out of here, doesn't she have a 30-year-old husband now or something? They're not married. But I just heard a thing that said something about they were splitting up or something and she was finally talking to her kids again because they were pissed about her being with this guy. Yeah, because she's like 70-something and he was like 32.
Speaker 3That's crazy.
Speaker 1When I saw that I was like that's insane.
Speaker 3That's been a few years, yeah, like for a hot second.
Speaker 2Yeah, I have a very fun game for us, taylor, cool, but first let's do your Wordle.
Speaker 1Oh yes.
Speaker 2Or should we do my game first, let's do your game first. Okay, I or should we do my game first? Let's do your game first. I don't know how long mine's going to take.
Speaker 3That's okay. I haven't got a name for this one.
Speaker 2Yet this is a game where I took records, I took album covers and I changed them, and you and Lindsay have to guess the artist.
Speaker 3I'm so bad at this.
Speaker 2You have to guess the artist.
Speaker 1He's the only one that knows albums. You have to guess the artist. So bad at this. You have to guess the artist he's the only one that knows albums you have to guess the artist and then if the album name if you can guess the album name for an extra point okay, yeah, all right cute taylor.
Speaker 2It goes in a specific order. You get to go first because it's sabrina carpenter I didn't say that. I just said that you get to go first okay okay because it's so what do you?
Speaker 3sabrina carpenter. Short, short and sweet short and sweet that's crazy. You just did a blue album. That could be a lot of things, it's okay. Okay, my girlfriend.
Speaker 2Is Sabrina Carpenter. Short and sweet, it's okay, lindsay.
Speaker 1I have no idea what that is.
Speaker 2No idea what it is.
Speaker 1Is it the fray? I have no clue.
Speaker 2Is the fray your guess?
Speaker 1Sure.
Speaker 2Okay, do you want to give a guess on an album name?
Speaker 1How to Save a Life. I don't know.
Speaker 2The answer was in a second, the Fray.
Speaker 1Oh, hey, wow.
Speaker 2And the title of the album is the Fray. It's the self-titled album. It was their first one.
Speaker 1That was a complete yes.
Speaker 2How impressive is that change of the art, isn't that incredible. You did great, buddy, thanks, okay, so Taylor.
Speaker 1I didn't know that was people in front, any clue? Okay, so, taylor, I didn't know that was people in front any clue?
Speaker 2um well, you kind of left the album title up there but I did so.
Speaker 3You at least get one point.
Speaker 1The album is born to die, uh-huh I know who it is um, um.
Speaker 3We don't get hints, do we? That's crazy.
Speaker 2I don't. I will say this is the hardest one on there.
Speaker 3I'm trying to think of who would have an album titled that and for some reason I want to say Lord, but that doesn't feel right.
Speaker 2You're way closer than you think, really. Yeah, I only put this on here because I know that we've talked about her and this specific album before.
Speaker 3Oh, I don't know, because truly my only guess is Lorde.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1It's Lana Del Rey.
Speaker 2It is Lana Del Rey I have no idea who that is.
Speaker 3She sucks.
Speaker 2That's the conversation that we've had about her, oh that checks out Lana Del Rey Born to die Okay.
Speaker 3I know this one.
Speaker 1So do I.
Speaker 2It's your turn.
Speaker 1It's Elton John. Oh, never mind it's not Do you want to know what?
Speaker 2I thought it was am I wrong? Taylor, what was your guess?
Speaker 3bruno mars. I can't remember the name of the album, but it's yellow am I wrong? No, it's definitely bruno mars are we ready?
Speaker 2yeah, yes and it was bruno mars but it's a yellow brick road I know dude, I'm mad.
Speaker 3What's the name of that? Oh, it's my fate, because it has hooligans in it. It's one of my favorite albums because I love that it has the word hooligans I'm so mad that was.
Speaker 2That was the point, though I made it look like yellow brick road. I did it on purpose that's crazy.
Speaker 3I knew right away.
Speaker 2I was like, oh, that's definitely bruno mars, right in a different dimension it was so hard to come up with a way to change this that made sense.
Speaker 3You know what I mean yeah like like that was a good job it was very difficult.
Speaker 2I completely changed the color scheme because I was like, if I don't, you're gonna guess it yeah all right taylor yeah, oh, nirvana, someone with a naked baby.
Speaker 3Um, do they have an album called money?
Speaker 2nope, iconic albums of all time. It is I.
Speaker 3I don't know the name of this album iconic albums of all time it is. I don't know the name of it it is never mind it's got a naked baby it does have a naked baby yep penis baby penis alright could have been Adam in a different life.
Speaker 2You know that aww, I deleted that, so I don't know why that's there. The program that I was using to fix all of these was an AI thing and I and I said put a box. And I was like I don't know what you're going for, but that's not said put a box. And it put that in the room and I was like I don't know what you're going for, but that's not where I won.
Speaker 3That's really funny.
Speaker 1Put box. Is this my turn?
Speaker 2Yes, so imagine that that is not there. Put box. I'm so pissed.
Speaker 1That's really funny.
Speaker 2Um, I accidentally saw you doing that I think you did, and I was like yeah, and I was like don't lock.
Speaker 1I don't know what it's called though.
Speaker 2Taylor, it's matchbox 20. It's the iconic album that we love and wait.
Speaker 3I'm thinking of two different albums that neither look like it's not North and it's not, as North, the one with unwell on it no or is that unwell North had the poppy stuff that I love?
Speaker 2yeah, has.
Speaker 1She's so mean and all that on it I love that um this one has the man yeah, it's the unwell album, but I don't know the name of it yourself or someone like you yeah, yeah, I wouldn't have gotten that.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 3Really.
Speaker 1Why did she get all the easy ones?
Speaker 2Because I you gave me.
Speaker 1Yellow Brick Road, and it's not Yellow Brick Road.
Speaker 2Because I figured Taylor would suck at this game.
Speaker 3Um, I got one of ours, so I'm just you know. Uh, lindsay, do you want to take this one? No, it's okay. Dark Side of the Moon, pink Floyd.
Speaker 2It is Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.
Speaker 3I really love that album and I kind of want that as my phone background.
Speaker 1It's a cool image. It is a really cool image. There would have to be.
Speaker 2Yeah, oh, that's Taylor.
Speaker 1Swift 1989. Yep, I mean the birds, the birds.
Speaker 3The colors.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's Taylor Swift 1989.
Speaker 1Damn it, that was easy.
Speaker 2I told you they were easy.
Speaker 3That was fun. I liked that that was fun.
Speaker 2It's a great game.
Speaker 1It takes a long time to do she's hard, I'm sure.
Speaker 2Probably.
Speaker 1It's pretty easy.
Speaker 2It took me, I think, an hour, or like an hour and a half, to do these eight images, but the power of AI is a great tool.
Speaker 3Hang on, guys, I'm pulling mine up, don't worry. That was a lot of fun. I really liked that.
Speaker 2Yeah, I got a couple with a name for it.
Speaker 3Whose album is it anyways?
Speaker 2What were you going?
Speaker 3to say Nothing. Let me make sure I'm spelling this right hang on.
Speaker 2Yeah, I had fun doing it. Um, I had fun like making it, but uh, next time I'm gonna go with something a little more challenging oh, my word.
Speaker 3I didn't realize that my word is actually two words.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's the one rule, buddy.
Speaker 3I know, For some reason I definitely thought Okay, then I'll do this.
Speaker 2For those listening, Taylor every week does a music themed wordle. That is also two words wordle and um, as a fan of the show. If you're listening, you can play together at home, together, along with us. You can, anyways, you guess with us, and then the payoff is if you just listen to the show, you get the answer. So if you're familiar with the game wordle, uh, you have five, five options, five chances right to guess it and um taylor's words can be longer, but it's usually five letters right yes but you can make them longer so crazy here I go again.
Speaker 3All right ready no, hang on, oh wait, stand by okay, stand by Okay, okay.
Speaker 2So this word is six letters long.
Speaker 3Yep, and it was my third choice because I didn't realize my first two choices were two different words.
Speaker 2So we're going to guess guitar first, because that's six letters.
Speaker 1It's six letters, it's six letters.
Speaker 2I'm spelling a different word.
Speaker 3Oh, I can't do that. I have to do this.
Speaker 2Okay, so we got an I.
Speaker 1Put out of place.
Speaker 2And this is music themed, correct?
Speaker 1Yes, of course you want to choose one Pianos.
Speaker 2Pianos P-I-A-N-O-S.
Speaker 1That's what I was spelling on my hand.
Speaker 2We got the I right and there's an N and an O, so the I is in the second position and there is an N and an O.
Speaker 1In missionary. That are out of place. Are you making fun of my baby?
Speaker 3Sorry, we started doing it when I was down there. It's so cute, like it really is so cute.
Speaker 2Okay, so the letters that we have left to choose from are Q, w, e, yeah, y, d, f, h, j, k, l, v, b and M. Second letter is an I.
Speaker 3Second letter is an I One minute Second letter is an up.
Speaker 2Any guesses?
Speaker 1Second.
Speaker 2Okay, sorry, I'm just trying to fill the void of sound. If you guys need a hint. Let me know Music category Is it an instrument?
Speaker 1Is it a person? It is a person, it's an instrument.
Speaker 2It's an instrument that helps Violin. That's exactly what it is.
Speaker 3What? Oh, because I spelled it Violin.
Speaker 1She spelled it Violin, violin, it's violin we nailed it.
Speaker 3Do you want to know what my hint was going to be?
Speaker 2Sure.
Speaker 3Strings.
Speaker 2She was going to pull out. Oh, I thought you were going to pull out.
Speaker 3He was such a noble dude.
Speaker 2I thought you were going to pull out the little violin.
Speaker 3I was going to do that after you guys guessed it but mom took it away and I don't know where it's at. She took it away. Yeah, now would be a perfect time to play it, because you're sad I found it. I lied, yeah, I think I think someone else kept playing it so I got taken away, but it's been put back. I want to just let it play.
Speaker 2I want to hear the whole thing you know, because it's got a whole thing. That's so funny.
Speaker 3Anyways, do you want to know what my first thing was going to be?
Speaker 1Sure.
Speaker 3That I thought was really funny.
Speaker 2I was going to do Piano man. Ah, that is in fact two words.
Speaker 3It is two, and for some reason I didn't think about it being two words yeah, because you got piano and man and then I also was gonna do pop star and I was that's also two words because, you have pop and then star but why is pop star not one word?
Speaker 2well, because it's two. It's two words that's so silly.
Speaker 3You know what I mean. That's really silly and I think it should actually be two words. What are we at? Oh, you guys want to do um connections hey, we might as well.
Speaker 2Right, we're slowly just turning into a wordle and connections game only.
Speaker 3I want to learn how to knit, so bad. Speaking about being old, I would just really love to knit.
Speaker 2So Halloween was the other day, right? So we're out there, we're in our costumes and we're sitting there and this little girl comes out dressed as a grandma.
Speaker 1Oh my god. It was the funniest she had a cane and everything, and she played the part.
Speaker 2She took her time walking up there and everything Came over to our candy bowl and she goes what's in here so funny?
Speaker 3I love that.
Speaker 1Started to walk away from us. After she said thank you and everything, dropped her cane, she goes. Oh, I'm just gonna have to bend over a picnic. Oh, my god, taylor, the funniest thing in the world.
Speaker 3No, I love that she I, we, we had a little girl come into bath and body works yesterday and she came in and she had on these little um, you know the like, the sunflower sunglasses and it was. We opened at 10 am yesterday, so it was 10 am sharp when they went in there. She was in that christmas onesie with the feetsies. She wasn't even wearing shoes, she just had the feetsies on the bottom and she, she had her a little clear pacifier in. She was like one and a half two and she had a little a basket. They gave her a basket and she's walking around the store putting things in her basket and then they get to the front. There was a whole crew of them get to the front. She looks at me with with her disheveled blonde hair and her onesie starts taking the things from her basket and placed them on the counter.
Speaker 2That's so funny.
Word Game Challenge Success
Speaker 3I was crying. I said you guys are in danger. That's crazy. You taught her that that early and they bought the things she put in her basket. I was like that's insane, like all of them. Yeah, I think they gave her the permission to like because they were like little things, you know. She got a little lotion and some hand sanitizer, so like. I put them in a little bag for her, that's so cute, so funny. I was cracking up.
Speaker 2Give me permission. I got it, here we go, so we're going to play Connections. This is a word game you can play on the New York Times. New York Times website. So basically, there are four different categories of wording 16 words. There are 16 words and you have to find how four of these words connect to each other, and there are four different connecting categories Sense, moving money, tender, feeling, hearing, listening, proceeding, touching chair, inquiry, sweet hunch, trial impression.
Speaker 3Let's see here how do.
Speaker 2I feel about that um tender feeling, listening and sweet yeah it's crazy, they only give you four mistakes yeah let's hold, let's hold off on that yeah because at first first glance I see um street and impression would be first street, first impression okay but, I can't find any money well, no, because we're.
Speaker 3we're different because I see street money proceeding trial it's not personal connection, it's. Taylor, what do you see first? Oh my gosh, that's funny oh shit, that's so funny, hunch, and inquiry.
Speaker 2Feeling and touching makes sense.
Speaker 3Yeah, but I feel like feeling and touching, like it would be sense touching, hearing and like maybe, feeling and listening, but that also doesn't Like we could do feeling, touching, hearing, listening, yeah, but it wouldn't be feeling and touching, right, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1I feel like sense would go with touching. Would it be touching like, oh, that's really nice of you and sweet?
Speaker 2and tender so like tender, that's touching. That's tender, that's sweet, that's tender, that's sweet.
Speaker 1It's very moving. Something can be very moving.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, I think that's it.
Speaker 3Should we try that?
Speaker 2Let's try it. Hell yeah, heartwarming words. Okay, now we're getting somewhere.
Speaker 1You, now we've got you have a hunch, you have a sense, you have an inquiry.
Speaker 2Oh, yep, you're on to it.
Speaker 1You have a feeling, yep.
Speaker 2Yep, yep. So we've got street feeling, hearing, listening, proceeding sense chair.
Speaker 3Impression, not feeling.
Speaker 2No, no, I've got a feeling, I've got a sense, I've got a hunch.
Speaker 3Could also be impression, because I feel like impression, like feeling and listening, I feel like go together. But I could be wrong.
Speaker 2Let's give this one a shot.
Speaker 3Okay, I'm feeling good, nope.
Speaker 2One away, should I?
Speaker 3Give it a shot Still one away, yikes, uh-oh, okay, we know that one's right.
Speaker 2Maybe it's not inquiry. Maybe it's an impression instead of inquiry.
Speaker 1Well, let's think We'll see. Then you can have proceeding a trial.
Speaker 3That's what I was just about to say. Appearing.
Speaker 1But I don't know what that fourth one would be, chair. Would it be inquiry?
Speaker 3It might be Because I'm also thinking first street, first chair.
Speaker 1First impression.
Speaker 2First impression yeah, like I was saying earlier, yeah, okay, should we try this to see yeah, I guess, legal session, hearing, inquiry, proceeding in trial, legal session, yeah, okay, so we've got first street, first chair, first impression first sense first hunch but see, then you gotta think of what that other one's gonna be right, because then it's I've got a hunch, I've got a feeling because remember we were one away on those Hunch sense.
Speaker 3I think it's sense listening, feeling hunch, because those are all like.
Speaker 2I have a feeling.
Speaker 3I have a hunch.
Speaker 1I have a sense, sense I still think it's impression. But we tried that.
Speaker 2Well, it was wrong because we had inquiry Should we? Try this. Yeah, I think that's it Sneaking suspicion. Feeling hunch impression and sense.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2And this next one is hold on. Hold on, but don't click it. Okay, this next one is money, street, listening and chair. So we think that it's first street, first chair. That doesn't make sense.
Speaker 3First money, First first money first listening just click it and see what it says you gotta read quick though yeah, easy chair, that doesn't make sense easy listening, easy money and what was the?
Speaker 1other one, I don't know easy street easy street.
Speaker 2Yeah, that makes sense. I don't know chair, I don't know what that means no idea oh that was fun guys that was fun we're getting so smart all right, buddy, it is that time.
