Episode 182 WHERE ARE YOU : Blink182 Day
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Blink 182 isn’t just a pop-punk postcard from the past—it’s a living diary that swings between dumb jokes and devastating honesty. We dive straight into the songs that defined our teens and still sneak into our playlists: the rush of First Date, the eternal wink of What’s My Age Again?, the meme-proof pull of All the Small Things, and the gut-punch storytelling of Adam’s Song and Stay Together for the Kids. We even settle a lyric Mandela moment—“I wore cologne” changes that opening scene more than you think—and debate whether “overplayed” is just another word for bulletproof.
While we’re in the time machine, we widen the lens. Taylor Swift heading to the Songwriters Hall of Fame sparks a talk about craft, longevity, and why clear storytelling wins across genres. Arctic Monkeys resurface for a star-studded charity record and remind us how a band can re-enter with purpose. Tennessee’s songwriter rounds bring new voices forward—proof that scenes still matter. Then we pull apart Spotify’s “prompted playlists” tests: discovery dream or pay-to-play rerun? We lay out the upside for music lovers, the risks for independents, and what it means for how we all find the next favorite track.
The big news: we’re bringing back our Battle of the Bands—this time with a live, in-person showdown on a Virginia stage. Brackets, finalists, and real amps in a real room. If Blink taught us anything, it’s that songs live best when a crowd screams them back—even the sad ones. Come for the rankings and misheard lyrics, stay for the stories, and leave with a few tracks to replay on your drive home.
Enjoyed the ride? Follow, subscribe, and share this episode with a Blink fan who still knows every word. Drop your top three Blink 182 songs in the comments and tell us what we bungled—we’ll fight you, lovingly, in the next one.

Chaotic Cold Open And Sibling Banter
SPEAKER_01I'm the worst person to have a podcast.
SPEAKER_04I think fairly what is up, everybody.
SPEAKER_01Welcome back to the show. I am your host, Harley, joined by my co-hosts, Taylor and Chris. Today. Both of my little sisters are here today, guys.
SPEAKER_03I would be your big sister.
SPEAKER_01You're smaller than me.
SPEAKER_03Wait. You said you weren't going to tell anybody. I showed you that in confidence.
SPEAKER_01Today is the Blink 182 episode, guys. The long-awaited Blink 182 episode. Real quick before we start anything, shout out to Maribel, our new number one fan.
SPEAKER_05Shout out Maribel.
SPEAKER_01She's been cometing the hell out of our stuff. She's awesome.
SPEAKER_05She's awesome. Do we know her personally? Or is she just like a no?
SPEAKER_01She's just a fan. So yeah. Taylor, you're wearing a blink 182 shirt.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, sorry, I'm trying to find where Dylan turned up my headphones.
SPEAKER_01I am also wearing a Blink 182 shirt. I'm wearing I'm wearing their um their I think it's the self-titled album.
SPEAKER_05Uh mine's from Target.
SPEAKER_01I think it's I think this album was called Down actually.
SPEAKER_03I am also wearing a Blink 182 shirt. Thank you, Timu. Taylor.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Uh as you should be. For those of you listening, Chris is wearing a Helen Keller denier shirt.
SPEAKER_05Did you did you know? Did you know?
SPEAKER_01Is that not a Blink 182 album?
SPEAKER_03I think so. It's their later work for sure. It should be. If it's not, it's it should be.
SPEAKER_05She, the scientists, have disproven her she was a fraud.
SPEAKER_01What are you talking about?
SPEAKER_03I saw something similar like two days ago and was like, oh shit, I gotta look this up. I couldn't find anything, but like a thesis from like the University of Oregon or something.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's a complete and total fraud.
SPEAKER_05That she's a complete and total fraud.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right. Let's find some legendally let's find some level playing ground here. I agree.
SPEAKER_05Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.
SPEAKER_01Okay, hold on. Taylor's having a freak out. Now we can say whatever we want. Helen Keller is real. She is real. Is real.
SPEAKER_03You got me.
SPEAKER_01Um$7,000. So here is the level playing field that I can offer. I agree with both of you. Helen Keller did not fly a plane. That was a make-a-wish thing. That was a pilot brought her up there and was like, we're gonna let her control the controls for like two minutes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but two minutes is a long time.
SPEAKER_01Thank you.
SPEAKER_05That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01But you're in the you're in the sky. What are you really gonna do? Unless she like goes like this, you know. I mean, technically she flew the plane for two minutes, or however long it actually was.
SPEAKER_03Technically, yeah, technically, yeah. I mean, that's that's what matters.
SPEAKER_05I'm I'm also special needs.
SPEAKER_01Can I also fly a plane?
SPEAKER_05You don't like being in the air.
SPEAKER_01I don't, I really don't. We went over that today.
SPEAKER_03With that beard with that beard, I don't think they'd let you get a license.
SPEAKER_05Probably not, probably not. You can't even get a TSA pre-check, to be honest with you.
Tech Glitches, HIPAA Jokes, And Life Updates
SPEAKER_01I almost said something real crazy. Never mind. Oh man. Uh, but this is the this is the Blink Winnie 2 episode, guys. Are you good, Taylor? You broke it again. Nope. Can't hear you. So so while Taylor's having her mini freakout, um I cannot hear you. I'll let you know when we can hear you. Um but while she's having a mini freakout, we are talking about Blink 182 today. There we go. Uh, we are also going to be talking about the music news today for the month of January. Um we will be covering some of our favorite Blink 182 facts and songs that we like. And we have a Blink 182 list that we're gonna be going over. We're getting more structured around here. Trying.
SPEAKER_03And I'm trying to sabotage it.
SPEAKER_01It was actually Chris's idea. It was he Chris was like, yo, this this show is off the rails, and it's time we it's time we bring it back in.
SPEAKER_03Lies. I love that.
SPEAKER_01He specifically, he specifically was like, yo, Taylor is way too much of a tangent, and we really need to rein her ass back in.
SPEAKER_02Chris thinks that I'm too much.
SPEAKER_03We we need to cut the dead weight. I'm joking. No, that is no, I just I cannot say that. He would never he would never say that.
SPEAKER_05I just not those exact words, not those exact words, but the premise still stands. Uh you know what's really sad? Huh? You know what's really sad is I can't tell you guys stories about work anymore because of HIPAA.
SPEAKER_03Oh. So this one agent lost their toe. Like they didn't get it cut off, like they woke up and it was gone.
SPEAKER_01Yo, Taylor is having a major malfunction today. Uh Chris, in case you didn't notice, we lost Taylor. She is frozen as fuck, dude.
SPEAKER_04Oh, dude.
SPEAKER_01Like that's crazy. Um, yeah, I'm gonna take a picture real quick. Uh anyways, it just so oh, she came back, dude. I don't know what is I don't know what's going on. What is there's two tailors? Yo, that's so funny. Should I just leave it this way? Oh, the other one, nope, it left. It left on its own.
SPEAKER_02Guys, I was which one's the real tailor?
SPEAKER_01How am I supposed to know which one to shoot?
SPEAKER_05It's like that that episode of of Family Guy. That was crazy. Why did it just I hate it here? What is happening?
SPEAKER_03Dude, I don't know. That's all you though. I love your lights.
SPEAKER_05Thank you.
SPEAKER_03He probably picked them out, right? No, they're not supposed to be that color.
SPEAKER_05They this is actually the white setting.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I also found that out. That is not very white, it is not.
SPEAKER_05No, they're all broken, so they're all crazy colors, guys. Can you see me and hear me okay?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, we can hear you fine. I am going to turn your microphone down a little bit. That's fine.
SPEAKER_05That's what like what happened? What did I do?
SPEAKER_01Uh, dude, I don't know. Uh, but anyways, um, hippa. Yeah, you have a hippa, I have a hippa, my hippa hurts. Mine too.
SPEAKER_05I think we I think what women have is called a fupa.
SPEAKER_01No, Taylor, Taylor. This is a crazy thing that I need to ask right now. But are your knees in your shirt?
SPEAKER_05Um, no, that's crazy that you would ask me that, dude.
SPEAKER_03Dude, I was thinking the same thing. Like, there's something wrong with that camera.
SPEAKER_05Or no, it's because it's it literally, I don't know how I fixed it the last time.
SPEAKER_01It's fine, it's hurt. It's fine. I was very confused. You looked cart, you looked like a cartoon for a second. I was like, that's something's wrong. That's not right.
SPEAKER_05What about no? I did that last. That's better.
SPEAKER_01There we go.
SPEAKER_05Because it makes it it makes it wide, so it makes my body go like this. Yeah, it was crazy. Because it like makes it so wide.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Anywho, anyways.
SPEAKER_05Anywho, anywho.
SPEAKER_01Uh Taylor, we have time for one story from you. But first, I literally don't have one. You don't have any stories?
SPEAKER_05I can't talk about work because of HIPAA.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you don't have anything else going on in life? No new jewelry.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's right. Okay, anyways, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But first, uh, Chris, how's life going?
SPEAKER_03Life's going great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah? Yeah. What's new? This is you you've been gone a little bit. This is the first time you've been back on the show in a little while.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's right. We did the hot second.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, yeah. Uh no, nothing new. I'm on some new medicine. My blood pressure and whatnot.
SPEAKER_01Um how was dealing with the torrential snow that we got? Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I worked for like 10, 11 days straight. Yeah. My back is killing me. Like it's not more. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, did you get paid a lot though? Like, did you get like time and a half for having to do that?
Snowstorm Grind And VIP Jurassic Plans
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, no. We're um where we work if the can't if well, if the workplace is closed, essential personnel show up, so they get eight hours that everyone else got paid to stay home who aren't essential, plus whatever you work. So not time and a half. Technically, it's double time every hour you work. So it's not so bad.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, it is supposed to snow again, everybody. I'm sure the news is out by now. Um apparently we're supposed to get like 10 inches of snow over the weekend.
SPEAKER_05So much snow.
SPEAKER_01If the last one didn't kill you, this one will get you.
SPEAKER_05And it's so cold.
SPEAKER_01It is. Uh, I've got a little bit of a life update. Tomorrow, I am taking Adam and Lindsay to a dinosaur uh expo thing.
SPEAKER_05What I heard, and when I told your baby I was so excited, I got yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_01I found out about it today. Dude, you could have invited creepy Uncle Chris. You should come. Do you you and your family want to come?
SPEAKER_03I want to. I'll leave them here.
SPEAKER_01You should, dude. It's in uh it's in Hampton. It's like an interactive, like they they have giant animatronics, and and you can dig for fossils, and dude, that's so cool. Yeah, yeah. I I so so I went on to get the tickets and I bought the VIP experience, and I told Lindsay, I was like, Yeah, I bought Adam the VIP experience so that he can really experience all of the things, and she was like, This isn't for him.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so you bought you the VIP experience. One thing about Harley, he loves a VIP experience.
SPEAKER_01I do, and I also love dinosaurs.
SPEAKER_05So you love dinosaurs.
SPEAKER_01I'm so excited, dude.
SPEAKER_05I'm so excited for you. That's sick.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh, it's called Jurassic Quest, I think is the company that puts it on. Um, so it's gonna be cool, man. I I think I think he'll have a blast. He really loves dinosaurs, like he do be loving dinosaurs. He does. When I wear my dinosaur shirt to work, when I come home, he freaks the fuck out, dude. He just goes, Dinosaur! And then he runs at me and he starts pointing at him. He's good, he's good, he's a good little guy.
SPEAKER_05He's a good little guy, a good little goopy guy.
SPEAKER_01It also is extremely cold in my studio. I am going to have to fix this relatively soon. I gotta figure out what I can do out here because uh it's like 47 degrees out here.
SPEAKER_02Um what?
SPEAKER_03I in inside, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, in in the garage, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I don't want to complain about the weather we're having because I know that you guys are having like actually terrible weather.
SPEAKER_01Wonderful weather we're having.
SPEAKER_05Wonderful weather we're having, but it has been in Florida like no higher than 50 degrees.
SPEAKER_04I don't think you guys get snow.
SPEAKER_05Well, honestly, I came out the other day and my car was frozen shut. Like there was a sheet of ice, it was 32 degrees, there was a sheet of ice over my car door, and I was like, that's crazy. Again, I know 50 like isn't cold, but for Florida, like I went to work, it was 40 degrees. I'm like, why is it so cold? It's crazy.
SPEAKER_01So, Taylor, you have this new job and you can't you can't talk about I literally can't talk about any of it.
SPEAKER_05At least at least nothing that's going on the internet. Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_01Because you got that CIA job now.
SPEAKER_05I got that CIA job. No, that was the first thing that they um one of the first things the guy said, he was like, Do you know about hippa? I was like, Yeah, don't talk about patience, and he goes, Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You know about hippo?
SPEAKER_05Hippoponymus?
SPEAKER_01Hip anonymous.
SPEAKER_05Um, I did, I can tell you this. I had someone tell me that they were very disappointed.
SPEAKER_01I agree.
SPEAKER_05Was it our mother? No, I said, okay, and then they were like, you need to tell the therapist that I'm disappointed. And I said, Yeah, yeah, I'll let I'll let the therapist know. And then the person goes, I just don't understand why I'm here. Because the therapist had told this patient there was nothing we could do for them because what they needed is what we don't provide.
unknownAre you talking about work?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, are you are you allowed to talk about this?
SPEAKER_05I think so. Oh, because I'm not giving actual details, so like I can't give like obviously names, what was wrong, what they were going through, social security numbers, yeah, yeah, all that. Um, but no, I was just cracking up and then I went and told the therapist. The therapist was like, I also don't know why this person is here.
SPEAKER_01Uh, but if you sign up for the Patreon, that's a whole different story. We got it behind a paywall. So if you're after those socials, I'll spill it all. No, it's like I will I will put mine on the Patreon. If you're if you're looking for my identity, just sign up.
SPEAKER_05Please take it.
SPEAKER_01I'm going to do it and make your credit better.
SPEAKER_05Please take it. And you have to tempt me with a good time. Literally. You have a baby you have to take care of, you have a wife you have to take care of, you have bills you have to pay.
SPEAKER_01And I had to buy a VIP experience for the Jurassic Quest thing. Exactly.
SPEAKER_05What happens when they take that from you?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um Taylor.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's uh it's Chris's turn. We're gonna we're gonna start going over some uh music news.
SPEAKER_05Do I not get a show off my piece of jewelry?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah, my bad. I forgot. I got I got sidetracked on you not being able to tell us stories anymore.
SPEAKER_05Well, I also wanted to tell everyone that I really like my job, that I'm having a really good time.
SPEAKER_01That's that's cool.
SPEAKER_05And I'm not I'm not hating my life anymore. Anywho, you didn't sound excited. Fine, I'll go back to hating my life, anywho. Yay! Um so everyone remembers how I lost my promise ring, and my promise ring is no more. We cannot find it. I don't know where it's at. So our sweet baby promise broken, promise broken. He got me a new promise ring, it came in today. Look how pretty she is.
SPEAKER_01So again, she's barking. I I hate to to beat this dead horse a saying that Taylor loves, but you mean to tell me that Dylan bought you a promise ring after five years of that promise?
SPEAKER_05Can we just be happy about the promise ring?
SPEAKER_01And it's really oh no, I'm so I'm dude, I'm super happy for you.
SPEAKER_03It's awesome. Listen, I'll be I'll be happier when I have a niece or nephew.
SPEAKER_01So so what so what exactly so what exactly is the promise here?
SPEAKER_05To love me forever and ever and ever and ever.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right. Um did you let them know that engagement rings also do that?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we all did collectively. I will say I did, I did um customer.
SPEAKER_01When's Dylan gonna make an honest woman of you?
SPEAKER_05Get out of here. I did make um an engagement ring, like I went and I customized it for funsies on like a website. Oh, yeah, totally.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, yeah, you're not obsessing over it all the time.
SPEAKER_05No, not all the time. Um, I did like it and I did send it to him, so we will see.
SPEAKER_03That's not creepy at all.
SPEAKER_05What that I made my own engagement ring?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's gotta be something like what if you pulled, what if you pulled uh uh who do we know that did that that bought their own engagement ring? We know somebody that did that.
SPEAKER_05We do. We probably can't talk about it, but it runs with Christopher and Schmanen. Oh, yeah, and that's something that we'll have to tell Chris outside of the podcast because for legal reasons I literally don't think we can tell. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Fair enough. Fair enough. I don't know them and I can guess their names. No, no, you can't, Christopher.
SPEAKER_01Um, so anywho, Taylor. Um, I'm happy that you you got a second promise after you broke your first promise.
SPEAKER_05And it's real diamonds. Are we good? Are we just gonna go over that fact?
Florida Cold, New Job Boundaries, And Ring Talk
SPEAKER_01Uh, I mean, real diamonds, fake love is what it sounds like.
SPEAKER_05Listen, just let me have it. Chris, I mean, you got it. Chris, Chris was way more supportive. Let's talk about that, guys. I put in the group chat and I said, I got a new promise ring, and Chris said, Let me see it. That's the love and support I need. Not one joke.
SPEAKER_03Now tell them the rest. There was a joke.
SPEAKER_05There was a joke, and I will go ahead and read. Do we what about your ugly hands? About my raccoon hands. No, it's because I had it like that, it looked like a paw.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, yeah, Chris literally went in that group chat and was like, Girl dish, let's see.
SPEAKER_05Anyway, no, literally, don't let's let us see it. And then he said, I'm getting Harley a promise grill with a picture of teeth grills.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I would wear it.
SPEAKER_05Dude, my computer had camera is sick. Do you see?
SPEAKER_01I would, I know it's pretty, it's pretty damn good. I if you got me a promise grill, I would act like Riff Raff. I'd I'd straight up act like I don't know nobody. I I see. Wait a second.
SPEAKER_03I think I'm gonna change it. I'm gonna get you a promise sword because you're not gonna lose and you're not gonna break it.
SPEAKER_05That's right.
SPEAKER_01Promise sword. If you think for one minute, if you got me a promise sword, I'm not pulling that out and slashing just everything I can like a fruit ninja. I'm I'm going to take it brothers, like stepbrothers, and see what uh see what we can cut, man. With Randy Jackson's autograph, because it's like you're not not gonna get Randy Jackson's autograph.
SPEAKER_05Stepbrothers.
SPEAKER_01Um, so Taylor.
SPEAKER_05You guys don't hear this?
SPEAKER_01Oh no, no, sorry, Chris. I believe it's time for music news. And yes, Taylor, we can hear that.
SPEAKER_05Sorry, I like I hyperfixated on it, and now I just like have to finish what I started.
SPEAKER_03What's going on in the world of music, man? Music news. So, Taylor Swift elected to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift becomes the second youngest inductee, joining legends like Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and KISS members. The ceremony is set for June 11th, 2026, in New York City.
SPEAKER_01The Songwriter Hall of Fame. That's pretty that's a pretty big accomplishment. That's pretty big.
SPEAKER_05And honestly, say what you will, she deserves it.
SPEAKER_01Also, why the fuck is Kiss in there? Is that is that unpopular?
SPEAKER_05Is Kiss not writing their own music?
SPEAKER_01Huh?
SPEAKER_05Or just the music they write?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just I don't out of all of the songwriters in the world.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Maybe it's because they're they're like so well known and classic.
SPEAKER_01I mean, they're definitely well known, but it's because they shoved their freaking logo in everyone's face at every 30 seconds for 25 years.
SPEAKER_05Why are you so mad at kiss right now?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not mad. I'm just thinking, like, you there's so many talented writers.
SPEAKER_03Look, you're being so salty. I think you need a kiss. Get Lindsay, get Lindsay now.
SPEAKER_01But like Kenny Loggins makes sense. Alanis Morse makes sense.
SPEAKER_05Taylor makes sense.
SPEAKER_01I will say say what you want about Taylor Swift. Her being in the songwriter Hall of Fame does make sense. It makes sense. That girl can write a song. Yeah, she can sort of s I don't I don't like them. I don't like the songs, but she can write she can write a song.
SPEAKER_05No, that's fantastic. That's fantastic.
SPEAKER_01What's our least favorite Taylor Swift song?
SPEAKER_04Oh decisions.
SPEAKER_01Mine is that entire folk album that she did. I don't remember the name of it. Yeah, I did not like that. Is that what it was?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I didn't like that one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what's that one where it's like she's cheer captain and I'm in Queen?
SPEAKER_05Shut your mouth. You belong with me.
SPEAKER_03And that's from her first album, and it is so my oldest, right, was obsessed of sex. Make sense. So dude, it's just on repeat. On repeat. On repeat. I want to drive this car into a ditch. Like wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_01We're talking about faith right now? Yeah, faith. Faith was obsessed with seven boy haircuts, egg bites, faith.
SPEAKER_03Yes. But she was also five.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, okay. That's that's different. That's fair.
SPEAKER_03She's sorry, she's correcting me right now. She was four.
SPEAKER_01Ask her, is she obsessed with it now?
SPEAKER_03Are you still obsessed with Taylor Swift? Uh no, she looks like she's gonna vomit. Yeah, okay, all right. That makes more sense.
SPEAKER_05That makes more sense. Um, Dylan th threw up today. Sorry, I never talk about music news, but I was forgetting.
SPEAKER_03Wait, were you listening to Taylor Swift?
SPEAKER_05No, he was eating Outback.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_05He was probably listening to me talk.
SPEAKER_01I would recommend not putting that one on the Barbie.
SPEAKER_05That's funny. That was a funny joke. Um no, that's why I don't like Nirvana, because that's the first thing that Harley learned how to play, and now I literally can't stand the song smells like Team Spirit. Can't stand it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't alright. I don't care for it either.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's pretty bad.
SPEAKER_01Um I'm happy for uh second youngest. I wonder who the youngest one is. I can't think of who the youngest one would be. But that's cool, that's exciting. Who who who would we like to see in the Songwriter Hall of Fame? I I have my answer.
SPEAKER_05I have my answer.
SPEAKER_03I'm just gonna pick a name, Alan Jackson. Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_01Okay, uh, Taylor, Alex Warren. Alex Warren? You're gonna be surprised. I was thinking Khaled. Oh, what is that? See, I I was gonna say, I know what Chris's answer should have been. I'm shocked that he didn't pick this guy. So uh wait, Ryan Woods. Ryan Woods, Ryan Woods, yes, Ryan Woods.
SPEAKER_00Ryan Woods.
SPEAKER_05Chris loves Ryan Woods, dude.
Promise Rings, Grills, And The Promise Sword
SPEAKER_03He really does, dude. He is awesome.
SPEAKER_01I agree.
SPEAKER_03Like, I don't know if we're gonna talk about the show, but after the interview was over, myself, Taylor, and Ryan stayed on for like another 45 minutes.
SPEAKER_05Hung out until I was gonna pee my pants. I literally was like, guys, I have to get off here. I'm gonna what'd you say?
SPEAKER_03I said you ruined it for me.
SPEAKER_05I literally did. I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_03He's an amazing artist, down to earth, awesome dude.
SPEAKER_00Like he's fantastic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um, go ahead, sir. Continue with the music news. So, music news. Arctic monk uh Arctic Monkeys contribute to a major star-studded charity album. Uh, marking a comeback after a multi-year hiatus with opening night featured among many big names.
SPEAKER_01That's pretty cool. Um I'm a pretty big Arctic monkeys fan. I like that one album. I guess I'm not a super big fan. I like that one album. I think it was called AM was the title of the album. It was a black one and it had like a sound wave that turned into like glasses, like sunglasses. Uh but it it has all of the Arctic monkey songs that you know and love. It has the one that goes. Um, what else is on there? It has Why You Always Call Me When You're High. Um a handful of other songs. I can't think of them at the moment, but Tech Tech. But I'm I'm a fan of I'm a fan of the Arctic Monkeys. And you guys fans of the Arctic Monkeys?
SPEAKER_05I know that one song.
SPEAKER_01The one that I was doing the beat to?
SPEAKER_05Probably. I know that I I know for a fact that I know one song by the Arctic Monkeys.
SPEAKER_01That one, that first one that I was singing the tune to uh was like used in like TikTok-y type videos all the time for like um like Home Depot ads for some reason. Yeah, it was for some reason they kept putting that song. Yeah, they kept putting that song to like Home Depot type ads.
SPEAKER_03Oh, dude, yeah. Look, the same um the same album. I was just looking through the music I bought, you know. Yeah, I like enough to buy. Yeah, are you mine? Oh, yeah, that's the one. Yeah, dude. I love that song. Yeah, it's the only one I own, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that album's great. I love that album.
SPEAKER_03I was like, oh shit, that's what you were describing. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Yep. I'm excited that they're making new music. I will definitely be checking it out. I would like to see the black keys make some new stuff since the Arctic Monkeys are making some new stuff. I'd like to see the black keys kind of make a comeback. Because they were they were really good back in the day.
SPEAKER_05What about the black eyeds?
SPEAKER_01Fergie? Do we get Fergie and and Will I Am back in the back in the studio? I'd give it a chance. I'll definitely give it a chance.
SPEAKER_05Like make them boys go local.
SPEAKER_01I would I would listen to it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_01Remember when remember when mom thought that my favorite band was the black-eyed peas?
SPEAKER_05It was so random.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I I don't know where it came from. One year for Christmas, she was super, super pumped because she was like, I got you the greatest present. You're gonna lose your fucking mind over this. And I open it up, and it's a set of drinking glasses. Black-eyed peas drinking glasses, and I was like, Thanks. I was like, I don't I don't know where this information is coming from. Oh I don't even know a black-eyed peas song.
SPEAKER_05I don't think it's that, I think that they were just music-related glasses.
SPEAKER_01No, she was thinking of the black keys because I also got for Christmas from Matt, shout out Matt, um, that black keys record because we were super into the black keys, and she thought I was the black-eyed peas. Do you remember when it was like, dude, it was like few futuristic, like Fergie in like a like a space suit? Yeah, it was weird, it was the whole thing was weird.
SPEAKER_05Do you remember when grandma got mom a Justin Bieber CD? Because my concert, my first one of the I think it was the first concert I ever went to was Jonas Brothers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
Music News: Songwriters Hall, Arctic Monkeys, Tennessee Spotlight
SPEAKER_05And my grandma got, well, our grandma got my mom a Justin Bieber CD, and my mom was like, What is this? And she was like, That band that you went to go see with Taylor, the concert you went to, and she said Jonas Brothers, and then my grandma goes, I don't know. I just remember the JB. I just remember the JB. So we just had a random Justin Bieber CD.
SPEAKER_01It was his first one with baby on it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's funny. Wait a second. Could your mom just have been confused? Were you listening to a lot of you know, Dixie Chicks, Earl had to die? Who me? Black black-eyed peas, you know.
SPEAKER_04I don't black-eyed peas, Earl.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, and I know they're called the chicks now.
SPEAKER_03I just refuse to call them the chicks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I only call them by Dixie. The the dicks. Um, anyways, let's go ahead and move on to the next one.
SPEAKER_03Okay, music news. Tennessee songwriters week qualifying rounds are kicking off, spotlighting emerging writers and performers. I have no idea what that is.
SPEAKER_01So basically, every year uh there is like a singer-songwriter competition, and it's put on, I believe, by the Songwriting Guild of America, and they pull different songwriters from across the US, put them into this competition, and then everybody goes out to Tennessee and performs that song, and then there's like a almost like a battle of the band style situation. Sick. Yeah, yeah, it's a really cool event. It's it highlights a lot of new upcoming writers in the area, and Tennessee is known as like the songwriting capital of the world, so it's pretty cool, pretty exciting stuff. Different genres? Oh, yeah, yeah. Mainly like Americana folk, you know, country, but like all it spans all genres. Oh, that's cool. Mm-hmm. Is it televised? I don't believe so. I think they do like like YouTube though.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_05Like a YouTube live, or like they just put the things on YouTube.
SPEAKER_01I think they just put the videos up, but I could be wrong. I have never entered. I have thought about entering a handful of times, but I've never done it. Uh yeah, Chris, you had a question? Yes, thank you, sir. I've been waiting for it. Uh go ahead, Taylor. Taylor, what's up?
SPEAKER_05Um, so uh first of all, I loved when we did Battle of the Bands. I thought it was so fun. And I know we probably can't talk about it, but do you remember the drama it cost?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_05I was all for talking about it, and I was all for putting that person on blast because that was crazy.
SPEAKER_01It was crazy, and I am happy to announce for the first time right here on this show to both of you. I had been thinking about this for a while.
SPEAKER_02Um, he's breaking up with us.
SPEAKER_01We did no, we did a battle of the bands, the first annual battle of the bands. Yeah, and this year we're doing it again, guys.
SPEAKER_04Let's go!
SPEAKER_01I'm announcing it early. I was I was gonna wait, but we are doing a second annual battle of the bands this year. So prepare to be entering that competition.
SPEAKER_05That is so fun.
SPEAKER_01There's gonna be a new thing that we're doing this time around. I would like to see this become an in-person event. So we are going to be we are going to be requesting your uh music um to put into the ruling of the battle of the bands, and then I am going to pull the finalists together. And if you can make it, great. If not, totally understand. It will not impact our decision, but we are going to let you come out, all of the all of the finalists, and perform your songs on a stage here in Virginia in front of a live audience.
SPEAKER_05That's sick.
SPEAKER_01I just like you heard it here first. It won't be until the summer, but be getting ready for that. Preparing.
SPEAKER_05Did you ever tell Chris about the drama?
SPEAKER_01Um, I mean, he listened to it. We talked a little bit about it on the show.
SPEAKER_05I think about it. I forgot that that happened, and it's so crazy. Like, how are you gonna get mad when we're we're not even that big of a show? Like, it just wasn't that deep.
SPEAKER_01Well, yo, chill, chill, chill, chill, chill.
SPEAKER_05But like in mind stuff, you know what I mean? Especially during the time that we did it.
SPEAKER_01Taylor's over here, like, I mean, we had like seven people listening, like it really wasn't a big deal. And that was mom and dad were two of them.
SPEAKER_05Literally, it was uh the whole thing, it was just crazy. I was like, that's wild. Anywho, yeah, continue.
SPEAKER_03But but I agreed completely.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah, with it with the decision. Yeah, I mean, it was it was kind of crazy. Yeah, it was kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_05It wasn't really used to get over it.
SPEAKER_01This year's gonna be better. This year's too. This year's gonna be awesome. It's gonna dominate the the airwaves, and I'm excited to see everybody um come out and play. Um I I've already started working on the venue, Chris, and you're gonna be excited on where it's at. Frank's. Nope.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_01It's you and me. Nope, it's you and me. It's it's our it's our home ground that we are at five days a week. The bar? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We're both unemployed, we just hang out at the bar.
SPEAKER_01Um, no, I've been talking to somebody that we both know about getting it uh at the campus. Oh, that's dope. Really? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so anyways, guys, it's gonna be awesome. Um, that's so exciting. I'm gonna draw out the competition. There's gonna be a full bracket system. We're gonna we're gonna really do it this time.
unknownWe're doing it.
SPEAKER_01Anyways, we really did like that. That's some breaking news. One last piece of music news, and then we're gonna move on.
SPEAKER_03Yes. So Spotify, oh sorry, music news is testing uh Spotify is testing uh new algorithm-driven prompted playlists and other platform updates.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05She already does that.
SPEAKER_03These nuts.
SPEAKER_02What do you mean?
SPEAKER_01Well, so so they are um they're doing this new thing on Spotify where when you're listening, you'll start seeing ads for playlists that kind of match what you're listening to. Oh, Spotify don't curated by other like Spotify users. Like, let's say I make a playlist, and let's say Spotify notices that some of the songs that you enjoy are on my playlist, they'll recommend my playlist to you.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_01Based off your based off your algorithm and building that like community of music enthusiasts.
SPEAKER_05I don't hate that, but like I need you to understand my Spotify playlist. And I'm gonna the way I'm gonna have you understand is I'm going to confront it's just like all over the place. It's crazy. Well, so I don't have specific playlists, it all just goes in one spot. Like, I'm not the person who I have things organized.
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, this will this will not really be for that. It'll be for like you, you might look at it and be like, oh, that might have some songs that I like that I didn't know existed.
SPEAKER_05My first 10 songs, look at me now Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Buster Rhymes, Mrs. Officer, Lil Wayne, American Pie, weano man. Yes. Um, Bad Luck by Khaled. I can only imagine We Believe by the News Boys. That's all in the same like chunk.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, well, the so again, this is this is gonna be gearing towards building up new music that you may never have known existed. Um, but the the controversy that I could see happening is this is going to be a way for Spotify to reach out to uh record companies and PR companies and the likes and have them build playlists of their artists.
SPEAKER_04They already are.
SPEAKER_01You're just building a new version of the of the label. It's it's just a new record label industry. They're finding a way to bring the record labels back into streaming because the whole point of streaming was artists were like, we don't need record labels anymore. We're gonna start being independent artists and doing it ourselves, and now you're going to have artists paying labels to push their Spotify playlists.
SPEAKER_05So I mean the day that Bruno Mars announced, or no, it might not have been the day, but like the week that he announced he was going back on tour, my Spotify, my playlist, it only played Bruno Mars songs. And I was and I love Bruno Mars, don't get me wrong, but I'll I wasn't in the mood. I was skipping, skipping, skipping, skipping, skipping, and I got a lot of Bruno Mars on my playlist. Played the whole thing. Who'd he pay? Get out of my Spotify.
SPEAKER_01And also, I just I would need to know, I I'd need to see like the ins and outs of how this prompted playlist thing is gonna work. Yeah, like we need more details before we can make any final decisions, but that's how I see the controversy going is it's going to be a way for Spotify to offer you know money to companies or or companies pay Spotify. You know, it's it's a revenue game again. It's it's a way to push artists that may not have gotten through with their following to the top because it's a curated pay-to-play playlist.
SPEAKER_05Anyhow, Lizzo's gonna make it back on top. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Um sorry, I I'm very distracted. It I am I am chilly willy penguin bones over here. Put a jacket on. I've got nothing back here. One time you don't wear a hoodie. I know, dude. I did it for the t-shirt, and I'm it's so cold.
SPEAKER_05Don't you have a blink 182 hoodie? Oh, you know what's so funny that I just realized? And it's so cute because I don't know if it's like this on your guys' screen, but it goes Harley Chris me, so Chris is in a little Cornell sandwich, which I think is really funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I do that on purpose.
SPEAKER_05But so warm and cozy, you feel so loved. But Harley and I match even with our hats, and Chris doesn't. No, he matches in his own way, in his own way, like it looks nice on the screen, is my point. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03We're all on the ant the same anti-psychotic med, so exactly.
Spotify’s Prompted Playlists And Pay-To-Play Concerns
SPEAKER_01I mean, can you tell that like the reason Chris doesn't match is he's getting into the character that of his shirt? He couldn't see, he couldn't see or hear.
SPEAKER_05He didn't know.
SPEAKER_01Um, but anyways, that is your music news guy, dude.
SPEAKER_05Imagine imagine Helen Keller's teacher. What was her name? Ann Taylor.
SPEAKER_01And something like that. Taylor something Taylor.
SPEAKER_05Something Taylor. Um, imagine she got acrylics done. And and like her nails were done. She's like, hey, don't touch me.
SPEAKER_01Uh let's talk a little bit about Blink 182.
SPEAKER_05It's like that scene from from Bob's burgers when they're doing the dance on the fingers.
SPEAKER_01This is the Blink 182 episode. This is episode 182. Can you believe we've been doing this for 182 weeks? Isn't that crazy?
SPEAKER_05So exciting. Um, I was telling Lauren about that, and she's really excited that this is a Blink 182 episode. I have been listening to them all week.
SPEAKER_01So let's go around the table here and talk about our favorite Blink 182 songs.
SPEAKER_05There's so many.
SPEAKER_01There's so many. You go first. Damn it is my number one.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's a really good one.
SPEAKER_01Girl in the Rock Show is number two.
SPEAKER_05That was my number one.
SPEAKER_01That was my number one. And I would say um California is number three for me.
SPEAKER_05Um actually, can I look up on my Spotify? There's one I'm thinking of that the reason I love Blink 182 so much is like they have a sick bass. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Like their fan base?
SPEAKER_05I mean, yeah, we're in it.
SPEAKER_03Chris, what are your favorite songs? So, number one, the rock show. Number two, what's my age again? Number three, I know all the small things. All the small things. I knew it was coming. Somebody said I know I'm sorry. Yes, that's yeah. Somebody had to pick it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I can't believe yours is an Adam song. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01I was thinking the same thing. So fun, fun little fact during Lindsay's pregnancy when she was giving birth to our baby boy. Um, I had a playlist playing, like a birthing playlist.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01As she was as she was pushing, um push it. That was on there. That was on there. Uh but as she was pushing, I had Adam's song by Blink 182 playing. And the nurse was like, Is this Blink 182? And I was like, Yeah, it's Adam's song.
SPEAKER_05And then she was like, Oh, what's your baby's name? And you're like, Ah, it's Jake.
SPEAKER_01Adam. Uh, but I love that song too. I'm a huge Blink 182 fan, actually. Same.
SPEAKER_05I I really so good.
SPEAKER_01I really don't know if you guys know how much I love Blink 182.
SPEAKER_05You love Blink 182. Um, my favorite is first date. Since all my first date is great.
SPEAKER_01First date is great. Um Stay Together for the Kids is incredible. One more time. I mean, come on, that song is so beautiful. Dude Blink is What's My Age Again is an incredible song, Chris. You have it, you have it 100% right there. Uh, feeling this is absolutely awesome. I love that song. Um Always is great.
SPEAKER_05Out of her mind. Great.
SPEAKER_01Down, out of her mind. That whole album. My favorite blink album is the California album.
SPEAKER_05Where are you?
SPEAKER_01I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_05You want to hear something so funny? Dylan was on his computer, and I had on my headphones, I was talking to Lauren, and Dylan randomly, as he's playing his game, goes, Where are you? So I went, and I'm so sorry. And as soon as I said it, Lauren went, I cannot sleep, I cannot dream tonight.
SPEAKER_01I need somebody in always.
SPEAKER_02Always. Anywho.
SPEAKER_01Anybody know the next line? I do.
SPEAKER_02Go ahead, go for it.
SPEAKER_01Six strange darkness comes creeping on. You know, haunting every time. As I stare, I counted. The webs from all the spiders.
SPEAKER_05Spiders.
SPEAKER_01Catching their insides or something like that.
SPEAKER_05Catching things and eating their insides.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Uh please go ahead. No, no, no. You go ahead.
SPEAKER_05You go ahead. Hold on.
SPEAKER_01I have no. We're working on that.
SPEAKER_03I guess age before beauty, so I'll go ahead. I didn't know we were bringing back crappy ogi.
SPEAKER_01We should, dude. I went oh we should. Crappy ogi.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_05Dude, it was so fun. We should. I before that song made me sad, I wouldn't listen to it because it had spiders in it, and it made me want to throw up.
SPEAKER_01Just hearing the word, just hearing the words.
SPEAKER_05Like actually made like acid in my stomach churn.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. Um, I will be mailing you a box of spiders. Please don't.
SPEAKER_02Chris, the way I will box it is unreal.
SPEAKER_01You're are you the joker?
SPEAKER_05We should bring back karaoke.
SPEAKER_01I I loved it. The only reason that we stopped doing it was because I had to remember I had to pay for the the karaoke program every month, and it was like twenty dollars a month.
SPEAKER_05It can't just you to do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, it wasn't free.
SPEAKER_05Do you guys want to know what my karaoke song has been lately?
SPEAKER_04What?
SPEAKER_05Oh, say it can you see that's not really yeah? It's it's been my nightly routine of singing that to Dylan. That is my karaoke. I sing the entire Star Spangled Banner, and then I say, I'm going to bed, good night. You can ask him, it's been like a week thing.
SPEAKER_01That's that's strange. Um so Taylor, tell us some fun link 182 facts.
Blink 182 Deep Dive: Favorites And Misheard Lyrics
SPEAKER_05Well, let's talk about the origin first. Where are they from? You know, what do they do? So the band was formed in Poway? Poway? Powi?
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna say I'm gonna say Powwey, California in 1992 with Tom Delone.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you just skipped the first one. Okay. I'm sorry, I was confused.
SPEAKER_05Did you not, did you not do my you ruined my whole thing?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm sorry. Continue.
SPEAKER_05It's okay. And the original drummer, Scott Rayner. Right?
SPEAKER_01Um they decided to pop along, Mark Hoppas, Scott Rayner. Yes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. They decided on their name. Originally they were just gonna be called Blink, but due to an Irish techno band already having that name, they added the 182, so now they're Blink 182, so they could be different.
SPEAKER_03Um I'm gonna look up this band Blink. I want to hear an Irish techno band.
SPEAKER_05Wouldn't it be funny if like wouldn't love an Irish techno band?
SPEAKER_01Wouldn't it be funny if like now they just cover Blink 182 songs, but like Irish versions, and just the thick Irish accents.
SPEAKER_03Oh potatoes, where are you?
SPEAKER_05No, you're sorry, sorry. Um a fun fact. Oh, ow, hang on. I cracked my ankle. Oh, perfect segue.
SPEAKER_01Dude props, dude props on that one. That was good. That deserves give me a give me a virtual fist found. That was great. That was solid.
SPEAKER_05With our with our non-wedding rings. Well, well, well, anywho. Um, anyways, um, when Mark Hoppis met Tom DeLong for the first time, he tried to impress him by climbing a lamppost outside of Tom's house, but he spoke boke.
SPEAKER_02He poked both of his wings. Oh poor baby boy, he poked him. He broke both of his ankles on the way down.
SPEAKER_01Did you hear the mark mock boke both of his wings? Oh god. Oh man.
SPEAKER_05That's funny.
SPEAKER_01What else you got?
SPEAKER_05Well, this one's really funny. So this is a little humor for you. This goes, this shows you the band's personalities, I think. Like this makes sense. Like this cracks me up. They have the the holding company for the band is named Pooh Poo Butt Inc. Because I thought it would be funny to hear their business manager say it.
SPEAKER_03Dude, could you that's what I was gonna name my plumbing business. Son of a bitch.
SPEAKER_01Could you imagine being in a boardroom with a bunch of corporate executives in like business suits and ties with like fancily cut hair? And they're just like, well, you know, poo poo butt ink is going to be.
SPEAKER_05Poo poo butt incorporated is going down the drain quite low.
SPEAKER_01As you can see here, poo poo butt ink is in the red, and we want that to be in the green.
SPEAKER_05Green is healthy, red is colonoscopy.
SPEAKER_01Uh, other fun facts? Anybody got any other fun facts that they just knew about Blank 182?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes, Taylor.
SPEAKER_05The drummer is married to a Kardashian.
SPEAKER_01That's what mine was gonna be. The drummer is married to a Kardashian. Which one? I don't know which one.
SPEAKER_03Does it matter?
SPEAKER_05If they're all the same. If you think it's Kim, it's Kim. If it looks kind of like Kim, it's Courtney. And if it looks nothing like Kim, it's Chloe.
SPEAKER_01That's the role of the Kardashians? That's like the well that's like the the laws of physics. What the guy?
SPEAKER_05I think I have it wrong.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to see it.
SPEAKER_05I think I got Courtney and Chloe messed up. Do you guys not know what that's from? What I just said.
SPEAKER_01I I know nothing about the Kardashian.
SPEAKER_05Other than that dream that you had. What dream did I have? Oh, I remember that was crazy. I don't I'd have to go back and listen to the episode. I don't remember all the details, but I know Kim Kardashian was there. Did we not interview her?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That was crazy.
SPEAKER_01Uh but I know that Travis Barker is married to one of them and has uh some kids.
SPEAKER_05Courtney. Courtney, I was right. If it looks like Kim, it's Kim. If it kind of looks like Kim, it's Courtney. And if it looks nothing like Kim, it's Chloe. Chloe has delicious popcorn. It's at Target.
SPEAKER_01Glad we said popcorn.
SPEAKER_05It is so good.
SPEAKER_01Um I can't think of any other facts. Uh, Tom DeLong is obsessed with aliens and left the band to uh search for aliens. That was why he quit the band.
SPEAKER_05That makes sense.
SPEAKER_01I know the drummers are called Travis Barker. Mark Hoppas uh survived cancer. He over overcame cancer.
SPEAKER_04Um yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I think that's pretty much it. Uh somebody was almost in a plane crash or was in a plane crash. I think it was Travis. I think Travis Barker was in a plane crash. I don't know for sure on that.
SPEAKER_05But oh, I got one Travis Barker's daughter, and someone else had some mad beef.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I remember that. And then like somebody brought Kanye onto no, it wasn't Kanye, it was somebody else, or maybe it wasn't because Travis went to him and was like, yo, that's your fucking niece, dude.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, and was like, hey, you know the song's about my daughter, right? Did you even read it?
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_05And he was like, Oh, my bad, big dog, my bad, my bad.
SPEAKER_01You're obsessed with big dog. It's your new thing. Every day, what up, big dog? What's going on, big dog? What what are you what are you doing, big dog? What you want to eat, big dog?
SPEAKER_05I've I've brought back um hey girl, hey. Yeah. Literally walked in today and was like, what up, big dog?
SPEAKER_03Listen, listen, listen. You need to make fetch a thing.
SPEAKER_05That's a fetch.
SPEAKER_01You can't make fetch happen. It's not going to happen.
SPEAKER_05Okay. We can try it. I I can try to work it.
SPEAKER_01Like that. Thing down, flipping or reverse it.
SPEAKER_00Ermineur. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, do you guys want to know what my favorite Missy Elliott song is? Burn chair.
SPEAKER_05You can't say that.
SPEAKER_01I can't.
SPEAKER_05I can't, but you can't.
SPEAKER_01If if you know, you know.
SPEAKER_05You know. Um I've been obsessed lately. Do you know that clip from Angela or from Courtney from Smosh um quoting Angela when she's at a medieval thing? And she goes, No, I'm good. I'm good. You know what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01I mean, not really, no.
SPEAKER_05Never mind. Or for a while it was, I'm an adult. I need to calm down.
SPEAKER_01Um, are we ready to jump into this list of blink 182 songs? The top 10. Let's do Blink 182 songs.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, let's do it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, everybody shut up. Shut up, shut up, this list, this list, of music stuff. This list, it's list of music stuff. All right, coming in at number 10 on the top 10 blink 182 songs. We have the rock show.
SPEAKER_02Guys, is this your list?
SPEAKER_01No, this is this is Google's list.
SPEAKER_05It's wrong.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. They're all number one.
SPEAKER_01Um The Rock Show, Chris, your favorite blank 182 song. Uh, tell us about your girl at the rock show.
SPEAKER_03I think it was a metal show. It wasn't really a rock show. And she was hot.
SPEAKER_01You're talking about mashuga?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I would say they're I would say they're metal. Yeah. So my uh my wife's bra broke at the rock show. So that was fun. Seeing her in that mashuga shirt just nice. And I wore a rooster rosy.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Um, I love this song. I think Girl at the Rock Show is an incredible song. I it's it's a super fun one. I agree with you guys. I can't believe it's number 10.
SPEAKER_05That that's crazy to me.
SPEAKER_01I would move the rock show. I would replace the rock show with um number four. I would make number four, number ten. Yeah, and I would make number ten, number four.
SPEAKER_05Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean, then where are you gonna put number number one?
SPEAKER_01Number four, number four is an amazing song. It's a very emotional song, but it's not one that you can just listen to anytime. Like you gotta be you gotta be in the right headspace for that one. Um number seven. Uh I will well, we'll get there. We'll get there.
SPEAKER_05We'll get there. I this yeah.
SPEAKER_01I give the rock show five.
SPEAKER_05Five.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Five.
SPEAKER_05Five, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Uh coming in at number nine.
SPEAKER_05Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Coming in at number nine, we have first date Taylor, your favorite. Blink one eight.
SPEAKER_05It is my favorite. I think I would switch eight and nine. But it makes sense that it's higher up on the list. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I guess. Um like I think it's crazy.
SPEAKER_05It's still that.
SPEAKER_01First date's more popular for sure.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01In the car, I just can't wait.
SPEAKER_05To pick you up on our very first date. Is it cool if I hold your hand?
SPEAKER_01Hold your hand.

SPEAKER_05If it's wrong, if I think you think it's late dance. Do you like my stupid chair? Could you guess that I didn't know it?
SPEAKER_02I'm just scared.
SPEAKER_05What do you think? You make me nervous when I was going to be.
SPEAKER_02Honest. Let's make let's make this this night lasts forever.
SPEAKER_01Forever. And ever.
SPEAKER_04I'm in hell.
SPEAKER_05This is what Lindsay lived with for eight months, Chris.
SPEAKER_04God.
SPEAKER_05Honestly, kudos to us for for getting there. I liked our little when we were on time together. That was fun.
SPEAKER_01Here's a good, here's a good uh uh Mandela effect for you guys. Um, we're not to this song yet, but the song What's My Age Again? Do you know there's that line in that song? The opening line, Chris, sing the opening line to that song if you can think of it.
SPEAKER_03I can't.
SPEAKER_01So, Taylor, do you know it?
SPEAKER_03I mean, I can play to my phone and start singing a lot of meeting.
SPEAKER_05I walked alone to get the feeling right. We started out.
SPEAKER_01See there, you thought the same thing that me and most of the world thought.
SPEAKER_05Is it not to get the feeling?
SPEAKER_01It's not I walked alone.
SPEAKER_05What is it?
SPEAKER_01I wore cologne.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_03I wore cologne, right? I've never sung it that way, ever. I walk alone to get the feeling right.
SPEAKER_01I walk alone to get the feeling right. We started making out it does make sense though. It does make sense though. I wore cologne. It was like to get the feeling right. Yeah, like you're you're at the house with a girl, so you you know, you got you got a little bit of axe on you, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_05I literally was just about to say the axe body spray.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I wore cologne to get the feeling right. We started making it out, and she took off my pants, and then I turned on the TV. And that's about that time. She walked away from me. Okay, any anywho. Sorry. I was just gonna let's let's jump over to what are we on? We're on number eight. Uh oh, sorry, we didn't we didn't rate first eight. It's a five. Five. Five. Five. Uh you know what? I'm just gonna come out and say it. This whole list is a five for me.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm just I'm just gonna tell you guys. I'm just gonna tell you guys.
SPEAKER_05Oh, for sure. We don't even have to rate. The whole thing's a five.
SPEAKER_01So coming in at number eight, we have feeling this.
SPEAKER_02Gotta be right now. I'm feeling this. It's just one of those days.
SPEAKER_01We fell short this time. Smile face in the summer.
SPEAKER_02I taste your hand in mine.
SPEAKER_03You guys you guys know that song? I don't think I've ever heard this song. Really?
SPEAKER_02No, but it's still a five.
SPEAKER_01Dude, I love this song.
SPEAKER_02It's gotta be damn right now.
SPEAKER_05I'm feeling this. I know that part, but the rest of what you're saying, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Oh, dude, that's the best part. We fell toward this time.
SPEAKER_00My office in the summer.
SPEAKER_01I think that this one could have been number nine, though. I agree with you, Taylor. I would have moved nine to eight.
SPEAKER_05I would have moved, yeah. I I would have switched.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Six, seven.
SPEAKER_01Six, seven.
SPEAKER_05Six, seven.
SPEAKER_01Um uh obviously it's a five for me. How do you guys feel?
SPEAKER_03Five three.
SPEAKER_01A three. Whoa. I don't agree.
SPEAKER_05Even for not knowing.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna have to listen to it. We're gonna have to listen to it.
SPEAKER_05Change the answer.
SPEAKER_01Nah, nah. Let them throw the controversy. I like the controversy. A one. There you go.
SPEAKER_03Wish granted.
SPEAKER_01I almost said something. Never mind. Never mind. Different Joe. Different Joe. Different Joe.
SPEAKER_05All the small things, truth care, truth brings. All right. Coming in at one less. You're right. Best trip. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Coming in at number seven. We have what's my age again. We obviously love this one.
SPEAKER_05Love this song. Can I change my my favorite song?
SPEAKER_01To what's my age again?
SPEAKER_05No, to all the things again.
SPEAKER_01To all the small things.
SPEAKER_05That that one is my favorite. That one is my favorite song.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if you want to be basic, I guess.
SPEAKER_05It makes me smile. Have you met me? Of course I would. It makes me smile.
SPEAKER_01That was the most you answered that the most basic way. Damn it.
SPEAKER_05Why'd you sound like Tammy from Bob's burgers?
SPEAKER_01Uh do you watch um do you watch that one show uh with the sex monster with the with the puberty monsters?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. What is that? What was that show called? I can't remember. Anyways, there's a there's a girl in that show. Big mouth, yeah. There's a girl in that show that uh I used to make fun of all the time with Lindsay. The the girl that uh that goes, Andrew. And then she she says, uh, she says, I'm not a dump drug. I hate that joke. God, it's disgusting, dude. It's not good. It's not good.
SPEAKER_05No. The first season was funny, but then it got weird.
SPEAKER_01What's my age again is a big old five for this guy. I love that so long. Um, all the small things, are we surprised? Is it that it's at number six? Yes.
SPEAKER_05Actually, I'm surprised this is at number one. I'm gonna be honest with you.
SPEAKER_01I'm also gonna be honest with you. I'm surprised it's not number one as well. Number one number one shocked me. I'm gonna be real with you. It shocked me.
SPEAKER_03Is it did it shock you because it's all the small things again? Or bringing it back. You'll never you'll never guess.
SPEAKER_05You'll never guess, guys.
SPEAKER_01Um, so coming in at number six, we've got all the small things, classic blink song. Everybody knows this one. It's perfect. It's what put them on the map. Um five. Another another misheard lyric. Um how does it go? Turn the lights off, carry me home. A little. It's the song is a little windmill, not I know it will. Like in the song.
SPEAKER_05I know it will. Not that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's not that. It's not I know it will, it's a little windmill.
SPEAKER_05Why are they wrong? Like they're just wrong.
SPEAKER_01I'm trying to think of how the song actually goes now. I I can't remember that line, like how it leads up to that. Turn the lights off, carry me home. I know it will, so but it's not, I know it will, it's a little windmill. Just just a little just a little fact for you. Um All the Small Things is definitely a five. It's a great song.
SPEAKER_05So good, it makes me happy. All the small things.
SPEAKER_01Why did it get why did it get silent there for a second?
SPEAKER_05I'll take one left, home right, best trip, oh.
SPEAKER_01We can't Taylor, are you playing the song right now? Because we can't do that at my show, watching, waiting, coming.
Top 10 Countdown: 6–3 Nostalgia And Overplay
SPEAKER_05Say it ain't so I will not go turn the turn the lights off and carry off. Oh I'm trying to find this little windmill situation and it's towards the end. Oh, the night will go on, the night will go on. My little windmill.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's stupid.
SPEAKER_01Night will go on. No, it will. Yeah. No, if it's a little manmill.
SPEAKER_05That's stupid.
SPEAKER_01Anywho, that's a five. Oh bajillion. This next one, number five, Adam's song. How familiar are you guys with Adam's song?
SPEAKER_05Um, I love when he sings to me.
SPEAKER_01That's another that's another one of those, like, that's a sad, sad song, dude. Adam's song is really sad.
SPEAKER_05I don't think I've ever heard it.
SPEAKER_01It was, it was honestly in the in the process. Like, I picked it because his name was gonna be Adam, but like when they were doing it, like Lady was like, This is kind of like killing the mood. Like, it was not a good choice. You're kind of like killing the mood of your son being, it was not a good choice. You should be able to baby, like Justin Bieber's baby, we had uh push it, we had um we had birthday song by uh AJR. We had a handful of good songs. Um but yeah, that one was that one was on there. Yeah, I love the song.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this is gloomy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's dude, it's deep. It's it's pretty, it's pretty sad. Like the lyrics are pretty fucking sad. Uh, they had a lot of songs that were really like depressive kid songs, you know what I mean? Like like children trauma songs.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like Adam's song is a is a song about a kid going through drama, like quite clearly. Honestly, on par for your baby, and then stay together for the kids, which is coming up next, is also like one of the most horrifically sad songs, dude. I have crazy.
SPEAKER_05Never heard the song, nor do I want to.
SPEAKER_01Dude, it's so good. I'm telling you, Taylor, it is so good.
SPEAKER_05I just don't know if my heart can handle it.
SPEAKER_01I forget the exact line. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Keep talking, keep talking, guys.
SPEAKER_05Oh, do you want to know what one of the saddest songs I think I've ever listened to that really resonates me, resonates with me is you guys don't know who this is, but I I know that you know, buddy, because I played you the song before. But Anatomy by Kenzie Um Ziggler.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah, you told me about that.
SPEAKER_05Crazy.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so listen to listen to these words. Ready? Yeah, it's hard to wake up when the shades have been pulled shut. This house is haunted, it's so pathetic, it makes no sense at all.
SPEAKER_05That's so sad.
SPEAKER_01Um, and then the Tom DeLong part.
SPEAKER_02So here's your holiday. Hope you enjoy it this time and gave it all away.
SPEAKER_01Um, and then he then the next one is uh so when you're dead and gone, will you remember this night 20 years now lost? It's not right. Yeah, dude, it's all about like like us, it's a guy singing to his parents who like were very abusive against each other and the kids, and they just like kept the cycle going because it was such a stigma to get a divorce.
SPEAKER_02That's insane.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy, dude. It's crazy. And then like he doesn't talk to his parents anymore, and this is his song to his parents saying, like, how's it feel to know like you've lost this relationship?
SPEAKER_05Bold move, period. Go off.
SPEAKER_01So that's Adam's song and stay together for the kids, five and four. Uh, the two saddest songs on the list.
SPEAKER_05Should be switched with six and seven. Six, seven. Six seven.
SPEAKER_03Chris is your luckier.
SPEAKER_05You know what's so funny is we were working with someone the other day and we were talking about Seth and Reps, and he goes, Should I do six or should I do seven? And it was me and another girl who's I think she's 23. We both looked at each other and went six.
SPEAKER_01I thought we were leaving this in 2025. Why why is it still around?
SPEAKER_05It's been brought to 2026. Have you guys seen? Probably not. Do you know the one, two, three release them?
SPEAKER_01I don't know what that is.
SPEAKER_05Well, we're done with this. I gotta share it with you guys.
SPEAKER_01Um, so those are both fives for me. How do you guys feel? Taylor obviously hates it because she left.
SPEAKER_05Oh, can you not see me when I do this?
SPEAKER_01Nope. Chris, how do you feel?
SPEAKER_03I don't like depressing songs.
SPEAKER_01Oh, fair enough.
SPEAKER_03I don't like to cry.
SPEAKER_05It depends on the mood I'm in. If I already know I'm crying, then I'll listen to them. However, I will give them a five.
SPEAKER_01I love storytelling, sad or happy.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And they just have very, very good stories.
SPEAKER_05Um you love a story.
SPEAKER_01Taylor, this next one used to devastate you.
SPEAKER_05Devastate me, dude.
SPEAKER_01Coming in at number three is I oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05It a 15-year-old Taylor is going through it. Where are you?
SPEAKER_01And I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_05I'm so sorry. I cannot dream tonight. I need somebody in always.
SPEAKER_01It's a great song.
SPEAKER_05It is a beautiful song.
SPEAKER_01I will say that it is overplayed.
SPEAKER_05Overplayed.
SPEAKER_01Like, out of all of the songs on this list, I missed you and all the small things are the two songs that I would say are overplayed.
SPEAKER_05And I will say I listened to it, like, I don't want to say because it is a great song, but I the amount of times Zill and I just go, Where are you?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's more of it's more of like the like nobody listens to photograph. You just say, look at this graph. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like nobody listens to photograph. Nobody sits down and is like, let me listen to photograph. Like, I don't know anyone who gets past the first three lines of I miss you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, still though, it's a five. It's a five for me.
SPEAKER_05I like that Chris is sitting back so we can see his shirt.
SPEAKER_03I'm sitting, but I'm sitting back so my back doesn't hurt as bad. Yeah, right. The poor guy he's like, we're an hour and 12 into this guy.
SPEAKER_05I will say, with because I can't really see with my glasses because I need a stronger prescription, so it just looks like it says dealer, dealer, dealer. I think that's really funny. Um, I had to take out my contacts today in the car. Dylan was driving, but I could my head hurt so bad, and it looked like I've never done acid, but I assume that's what it looks like. Because I couldn't see cars, I just saw lights, lights, lights, lights.
SPEAKER_03I've never done acid, but it's just like that.
SPEAKER_05But it I don't know I said it, I assume it's like that.
SPEAKER_01Um coming in at number two, we have my favorite song.
SPEAKER_00Five.
SPEAKER_01Damn it.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Five so good. Five.
Top 10 Countdown: 2–1 And Why It’s Unexpected
SPEAKER_02It's alright to tell me what you think about me. It's alright. It's alright to argue. I won't hold it against you against you a daylight, a buck short. I'm riding, a small horse, a report, a passport, go short. Failing now.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, it's a it's a five. It's a five.
SPEAKER_05Five.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's such a good song. Remember, I played it for a talent show?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01With uh with Corey Snow. Shout out Corey Snow, wherever you're at, big guy. In the snow. So I've heard. Um, what do you guys think? Number one is actually, I'm not even gonna ask. You don't know.
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Don't think you guys even know this song.
SPEAKER_05That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01I don't think you know part one or part two of this song. You definitely don't know part two. You might know part one, but you definitely don't know part two. Isn't there a part three? There is a part three.
SPEAKER_05Coming in at No, I do I do know this, um, only because I just saw it on my Spotify when I was looking up Link Winnie Two Subs.
SPEAKER_01Coming in at number one, we have Anthem Part 2. Specifically part two.
SPEAKER_05That's so random.
SPEAKER_01I agree. I don't I don't know how they pulled this data. I really don't.
SPEAKER_05No, they're wrong.
SPEAKER_01Unless like Blink fans are super into this song, and maybe I'm just missing something. It's a good song. It's another one of those deeper, like meaningful songs.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um I believe this one was written by Mark Hoppis. Like, I think he was the main songwriter on this one. Um and uh yeah, it's it's more of like a like meaningful, deep, like sadder side of blink. And I just I can't believe it's number one.
SPEAKER_05Like that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude. People love it for some reason. I will give it a five though.
SPEAKER_05Um, I'll give it, I'll give it a three.
SPEAKER_01Four. Four.
SPEAKER_05I'm how do I oh here we are. I'm really mad that it's not what I wanted it to be. So it gets point stocked.
SPEAKER_01Fair enough. Um, so, anyways, that is your top ten blink 182 songs for the one and only Blink 182 episode.
SPEAKER_05We should have dressed up as Blink 182. Do you guys want to try this again tomorrow?
SPEAKER_01We should do that for Halloween this year.
SPEAKER_05Missed opportunity. Oh, there is it's a trio, Taylor.
SPEAKER_01You've got to be Travis Barker, yeah, of course.
SPEAKER_05And then uh Chris can be Courtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Chloe Kardashian, not Courtney.
SPEAKER_01Chris would have to be Tom DeLong because he's our resident alien guy, Tom Nook, and I kind of look like a fat Mark Hoppas, so I would be Mark Hoppas. Shut up.
SPEAKER_05Um the one guy looks like your record guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Mark Hoppas. Looks like Eric from the record store. Yeah, I'm glad that you can't do that. If Eric, if Eric uh didn't do drugs, yeah, I agree with you.
SPEAKER_05Um, how's Eric doing since you guys moved?
SPEAKER_01I think he's doing good. I think he's doing good. I was supposed to do, yeah, I was supposed to do an event for him tonight, um, but I haven't heard from him, so I'm assuming that got canceled.
SPEAKER_05Probably because of the snow. Anywho.
SPEAKER_03Hey, I thought we were gonna do the three amigos.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you're right. We did say we were gonna be Z Top.
SPEAKER_05I'm down, I just need glasses.
SPEAKER_01No, you have to be Fred Beard. Fun fact, Fred Beard. Fred Beard, the drummer for Z Top. Fun fact, he's his last name is Beard, and he's the only one without a beard. Taylor left again.
SPEAKER_05I'm looking it up. I'm looking it up.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so I did not think about this when asked, what's new? So I am an uncle of oh yeah, I forgot. My baby sister and her husband had their first child. Shout out to them. Yes, congratulations. Shout out to Casey and Chris and my nephew Wayland. Wayland, like Jennings, yes. Wayland Jennings. That is so funny, and he is adorable. Oh drapers, see, not all babies are cute. I'm not gonna lie. Agreed. I have some kids that were not cute babies, or if they were cute babies, they were cute the way like pugs are cute. Like a little ugly.
SPEAKER_01They're so ugly.
SPEAKER_03Now they're beautiful. Now they're beautiful now that they're older, but baby wise, you gotta you gotta grow into it.
SPEAKER_05I I don't think any babies come out looking cute. You gotta baby.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, dude. You you've seen Adam when he was a baby baby. Yeah, but you know when I came out cute as fuck.
SPEAKER_05I mean, he he did come out really cute, but that's because he was a bajillion pouch. Do you know what I mean? Like the thicker the baby comes out, I mean he was full grown, dude.
SPEAKER_01He came out ready to start. He was like, yo, like he came to 1K.
SPEAKER_05Like it was crazy. Do you have baby pictures you can send in the group chat?
SPEAKER_03Uh yes, yes, I do.
SPEAKER_05Please do send.
SPEAKER_03So that's all.
SPEAKER_05Congratulations to fun fact. Um, we know someone who has a baby named Weyland, and our younger cousin refused to call him Wayland and would only call him Walt.
SPEAKER_01I don't remember that.
SPEAKER_05Um, Schmilo. Oh Schmilo's cousin is named Wayland, and she goes, I'm just calling him Walt for short. I don't know what's up with this Wayland business.
SPEAKER_01Um so that has been episode 182, guys. Taylor, it is time now to do your thing.
