Friday Banter And Rebecca Black
SPEAKER_00I fucking love that. I'm the I'm the worst person to have a podcast.
SPEAKER_05I feel very What's up everybody?
SPEAKER_00Welcome back to the show. I am your host, Harley, joined by my co-host and little sister Taylor. Taylor, how are you today?
SPEAKER_01I'm glad it's Friday. T G I F, am I right?
SPEAKER_00T G I Mother F and F.
SPEAKER_01F. T G I F.
SPEAKER_00It's Friday. Friday.
SPEAKER_01Friday.
SPEAKER_00Rebecca Black. I love Rebecca Black.
SPEAKER_01Did you know that she actually has actual music now?
SPEAKER_00Really? I did not know that.
SPEAKER_01She's like not a bad singer.
SPEAKER_00Oh, she's great. I have you ever she's done a bunch of other like singing stuff. She's been on other shows, and I think she was even on American Idol, possibly.
SPEAKER_01I think you might be correct on that.
SPEAKER_00Either Idol or America's Got Talent or The Voice. She was on one of those shows. Um, no, I love Rebecca Black. Um, that song's also great. I don't care who's listening. That song's great. You're just wrong. That song's so good.
SPEAKER_01Fun fact about that song: I had a middle school teacher once who made us listen to it, and then we are like, Oh, this is so funny. I can't believe she would do that. Blah blah blah blah blah. That's so funny. And then she did that. Huh? No, it was a setup for her to tell us how awful of children we were, and that we were all bullies. Yeah. Literally was a setup. Was like literally crazy, literally did it. Every time I hear that song, I think about it. She she played the song and we were all laughing. Um, I can't remember. I was in sixth grade. I literally cannot tell you what her name was.
SPEAKER_00I that's wild, dude.
SPEAKER_01Isn't that wild? Um, yeah, so she Mrs. Barnett, maybe maybe that was her name.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that sounds familiar.
SPEAKER_01She literally typed in her computer again, sixth grade. So we're what?
SPEAKER_0011. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What's on this song? That's fine, object objectively. It's a funny song. The whole thing's funny. The music video, like we're like, we're vibing. Right. Or like we're laughing. We're like, this is so funny.
SPEAKER_00Like it's the white girl dance.
A Teacher’s Lesson On Bullying
SPEAKER_01It's the white girl dance. Literally, we're all chuckling. Like, yeah, some of the kids were probably mean about it. We were 11. Duh. But literally played the song, had a discussion about how we were all bullies and we were going to grow up to be bullies, and that we needed to do better because the world deserved better, and pretty much said we were awful children. Literally wasn't set up. And and and she was like, Yeah, I played the song to see how you guys would react. And then said, I'm not surprised.
SPEAKER_00Do you do you remember? You might have been too young. Do you remember when um when I went to high school? I was a freshman in high school. They made us go to the auditorium to have a meeting with the principal and super attend superintendent. They pulled up my entire class, my entire freshman class into the auditorium to have a meeting about our behavior, about our behavior as a class and what they had heard of our entire class coming in. And they were like, they gave us a whole speech about how we were going to be failures. They were like, statistically speaking, 10% of you are going to be successful, 30% of you are going to be dropouts, it like gave the whole thing and then told us how horrible we were, and like how again, how mean we were, and how terrible we were to the teachers, and just really let my entire class, 130 kids, mind you, have it. Like they just were like bam, bam, bam.
SPEAKER_01That place was wild.
SPEAKER_00The sad part is though, the sad part is they ended up being right.
SPEAKER_01How does it feel to be in that top 10?
SPEAKER_00Oh, dude, it's pretty sweet. Top 10. That's pretty awesome.
SPEAKER_01Um, I remember whenever I so for those listening, I was sick a lot as a kid. Um, and like I literally had I've had three major knee surgeries, and each of those were like a six-week recovery. You know what I mean? Like it wasn't a quick turnaround. Like I was crazy. For my first one, I was out of school for what? It was like four to six weeks, and I was literally out of school.
SPEAKER_00You were out most of that year.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00So, so I don't know how it works in other places, but are I remember the school calling mom and being like, hey, what the fuck is going on?
SPEAKER_01So, and all and this is also important. All of my, for the most part, all of my absences were excused. Like I was legit, like I was sick as a kid, like always.
SPEAKER_00Um but they I I remember Taylor is sick as hell, bro.
unknownSick.
SPEAKER_01I remember getting called, like my name was called to go to the auditorium, but like it was called with a bunch of like delinquent kids. And I was like, that's weird. Because also one thing about me, I was a straight A student in high school. I was like, that's crazy. Um, so I was like, sure, like what's up? Like, I mean, was with the kids from like the halfway house, like with that set of kids. So I sit down, not that all halfway house kids are bad because they're not, it just happened to be the ones that came to our school were bad.
SPEAKER_00Anywho, such a white girl thing to say.
SPEAKER_01Such a white girl thing. Well, I needed to um sat down and they were like, Hey, you guys have to do after school. And I was like, after school, never heard of her. What? And they were like, or summer school because you're not gonna graduate because you don't have the hours. I was like, have the hours. Literally went to, I think I went to Mr. Agnew crying. And this was like, I mean, granted, COVID hit, so like that all got pushed out the window anyways, but it was right before COVID hit. And I went to Mr. Agnew, and I was like, I've had so many knee surgeries, and all of my things are excused. And I literally have like I was a top tester, yeah. I was a top tester in school. I was like, I'm holding this place afloat. And he goes, Don't worry about it. Absolutely worried. What do you mean? Or like they were also counting because I was in band and like jazz bands. So there are a lot of times where I wasn't in class because I literally was doing an extracurricular, and they like also, I'm pretty sure, counted that too. And I was like, That's crazy, guys. What do you mean?
SPEAKER_00I remember being in high school. So also, uh, a little side note, uh, a couple side notes. First off, uh, I made a great blind side joke there when I called Taylor Sandra Bolik. That was fucking so funny. Um great, great movie. Uh Sandra, uh, we're not gonna dive into that here. Um, so also um after hanging out with Chris and Noah so much and hearing like their school stories, dude. I thought I was kind of like a bad kid. Like I did some I did some bad stuff in high school.
SPEAKER_01Um nothing crazy.
Absences Credits And School Chaos
SPEAKER_00No, no. I literally just skipping classes. Like I literally, that's the worst thing that I did was skip classes. I would like say that I was going to a class, and then me and a group of friends would get in my car and drive 40 minutes to a place to a town in uh Ohio called Boardman, Ohio. We would drive 40 minutes to go to wing uh not wing stop, um, Quaker stake and loop. Oh no, Quaker Stake and Loop, and we would all go have wings and then come back to school. Um also, also, for the record, I took at least twice uh the guy who ended up becoming the guidance principal with us. So, like I don't know what that says about the education system, but Mr.
SPEAKER_01Agnew is pretty solid, not gonna lie. He's waiting for the I wish we had a name. Sorry, Mr. Guys, please go try to fight him. Like, do you know how many people have that name?
SPEAKER_00So, anyways, um, that was the worst of things that I did. Um, but like I remember um I remember going to school and having a similar experience to you, where my senior year, the principal pulled me aside and was like, Hey, we're not sure what happened here, but you don't have enough credits to graduate. And it was because I was missing all of my phys ed credits, and I was like, that's wild, because for the last four years, you have put me in phys ed every semester for four years. I was like, to the point where I thought I was like being made fun of for being fat, like I just kind of rolled with it by year three, but like every morning at 9 a.m. I am in that gymnasium.
SPEAKER_01Isn't that because you were wearing jeans?
SPEAKER_00No, no, they just for some reason did like the computer didn't like recognize that I had gym. It just had me as not having a class the first period of school for four years.
SPEAKER_01That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it happened to me and like six other kids. Um, and those first periods were always either like health class or phys ed or you know, the required classes to graduate. Yeah, so they were like, we're not really sure what happened. So what ended up happening was I had to go work out at a gym after school and have the the local gym that I was going to at the time sign a paper saying that I was there and I did a workout for an hour and I had to do that for like four weeks or something.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy. That school is not real.
SPEAKER_00All because their computer system messed up.
SPEAKER_01Um, do you remember when I first dislocated my knee? And I literally I had a doctor's note because they were trying to put me in gym, and my first knee doctor was like, Hey, that's actually a really bad idea. You actually shouldn't do that because like he knew I needed surgery, but like he couldn't necessarily say that I needed surgery, but he was like, No, gym girl, can't do like what let's not run. I don't even really want you to walk. Like, I don't want any of this to happen. Went to school with a note, showed the middle school. I dislocated my knee in sixth grade. So like I had seventh grade, eighth grade, seventh and eighth grade of middle school. Both years couldn't do gym, was excused, had had a note, and they were like, hey, actually, we don't care about this note, and then put me in gym anyways. And when I was like, hey, actually I can't do gym, and the lady was really mean to me at the front desk and told me I was just seeking attention because I was walking fine, and I was like, Yeah, so I actually like have a doctor's note from an orthopedic doctor. They're like, I'm actually not supposed to be doing this, and then she was like, not my problem. And then our mommy called, and our mommy is skilly. If you guys don't know, she's really skilly, and she got it taken care of. And I just didn't do a gym, and then once I started doing marching band, that counted as my gym, so I didn't have to date gym at all in high school. Pretty sick.
March Music News Roundup
SPEAKER_00Um that's not real. Let's dive into this music news real quick. Let's uh talk about everything because there's actually been a lot uh the month of March. Um, there's been a lot of stuff going on in our lives, but there's also been a lot just like going on in music, and we haven't really been able to cover it because we've been really like doing a ton of interviews.
SPEAKER_03Interview heavy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so let's just cover real quick what's going on. So um Motorheads guitarist Phil Campbell died at the age of 64. Uh, Campbell was a core member of Motorheads since 1984 and helped define their sound. Um, tributes poured in uh the industry um as the news broke on that one that happened this month. Rod Stewart continues his farewell tour. Um, Stewart added new U.S. dates to what's being billed as his final large-scale tour, signaling the slow end of a legendary touring career. Um Cross Canadian Rajweed Reunion gains momentum. The band's return continues with a major Houston rodeo performance, their first time there in 20 years. Kanye West, also known as Ye, um, his India concert rumors are going around. Viral rumors claimed cancellation, but the organizer confirmed that March 29th is still happening. So Kanye will be in India um doing a concert March 29th. And then we have some new releases that come out recently. Come out recently, came out recently, uh came out recently. Harry Styles Kiss All the Time Disco occasionally uh is a new song from Harry Styles. We have new music from Shakira and JLo and Juice World. Um, Fred Again is doing a remix project, and War Child Charity has an album out called Help. Um we have Jack Harlow's new song Monica, James Blake's new song Trying Times, the Black Crows are working on a new album, The Lamb of God is also working up a new album. There's a new single from Luke Combs. Um, and then we have BB Rexa, Jenny, and Woods are also a handful of artists that have some new stuff coming out, and then Eddie Van Halen's uh unreleased material confirmed to be coming in the future. And I believe that covers pretty much the major news. The rest of this is a little little lower on the totem pool. So, anyways, um that is what's going on with music in the world right now. Have you listened to the new Harry Style song?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00You haven't? It's pretty good. Um it's nowhere near the success that I think uh his last album is gonna have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That last album was so good, dude. So I think hold on, hold on, hold on. Before I say that, is that the one with watermelon sugar on it? Is that the last album or was it one before that?
SPEAKER_01I think it was the one before that.
SPEAKER_00Let me check that real quick. Just want to fact check myself. Sorry, guys.
SPEAKER_01His last album was phenomenal.
SPEAKER_00Um let's see here, just to confirm. Okay, so yeah, he had the Harry's House album that was released in 2022, and then Fine Line came out in 2019. That one had um Watermelon Sugar, Adore You, um To Be So Lonely, and uh the song Fine Line, obviously. Um, and then Falling was on that one as well. Um oh, and the song Golden. I don't think I know that one. I might know that one.
SPEAKER_01I think you know that one. You're so golden. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But the other one that came out in 2022, Harry's House, had uh uh uh had Keep Driving, Love of My Life, uh music for sushi restaurants, late night talking. I think late night talking is a huge one, right? Oh, as it was, as it was was on the thing.
SPEAKER_03Uh huh.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. Okay. So yeah, so that new song that just came out, um, I don't know, man. It's not oh, it's the whole album out now. Oh. Huh. Interesting. I'm gonna have to look at that. Okay. Uh yeah, I only heard um the song. Which one was it? So that was the name of the album that I read. Kiss all the time, disco occasionally. I don't know which one of these songs I heard. I remember when the news broke, I listened to whatever popped up, but I don't know which one of these songs it is. But regardless of that, it still doesn't hold the the same weight as his last song.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um as it was, was so good.
SPEAKER_01So good. Uh Blade Night Hop is one of my favorite songs.
Pocopia Turns Us Into Gamer Girls
SPEAKER_00It's still pretty good, though. Like I still encourage people to listen to it. It's still pretty good. Um it's got the same tonalities, like he's still Harry Styles. You know what I mean? You're you're getting a Harry Styles album. If you love Harry Styles, that's what you got. Uh so, anyways, Taylor.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00We both have been taken over by what I can only describe as the greatest game of all time. Um it's not just us, though. The internet as a whole is blowing up over it. The success of this game has blown everyone away. Uh, no one saw this coming. Even the Pokemon Company was like, Well, we never expected this.
SPEAKER_01They popped off respectfully.
SPEAKER_00Um, every this is like it's huge, dude. It's huge.
SPEAKER_01So so huge that I played at work, so I get usually an hour lunch. I played at work for that hour, and everyone sits behind me and watches me play it. That's the point we've gotten to.
SPEAKER_00It's so addicting and full of just the best things that you love about video games. Like, it's it's got something literally for everybody. Literally, they really they really took like the best things from every video game and were like, let's just dump all of this into one game. It's crazy. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_01We we are talking about the one and only Pocopia. Pokopia, guys, the greatest game of our generation, dare I say.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, this is not necessarily my apology episode, but it kind of is. Um, on the Pokemon Day episode that we did, I kind of was really harsh about the Pokemon presents, and I was like, we're literally getting no new game this year besides this shitty spin-off game. What am I supposed to do for the next 12 to 18 months? I did not expect this game to be what it is, and that's okay.
SPEAKER_01Not everyone did, not everyone did. I had my hopes. I, and you know, I don't do this often with games. I'm not the gamer girl. I'm just not. I counted down. I knew when it came out. And there was one thing I was excited for. I got my Switch 2 and I said the only thing ZGA, ZA's fine, ZA gets the job done, ZA's fine. The only thing I wanted was Pocopia. The only thing I knew I was gonna love it from the minute I played it, and man, do I? I'm addicted.
SPEAKER_04Completely.
SPEAKER_01I'm addicted. I'm a gamer girl. I literally sit, I have my little beat headphones on, watching my little YouTube video while I'm doing my little Nintendo game. It's crazy. Dylan and I have been doing parallel play since it came out. He plays his little game, I play my little game. He comes to bed, I can't be bothered. I'm playing Procopia.
SPEAKER_00I will say there if you if you like the game, you love the game. But if you don't like the game, you hate the game. Yeah, Lindsay hates this game.
SPEAKER_01She only likes hot dog fingers.
SPEAKER_00She hates, yeah, she hates the humanoid ditto. Um she also just doesn't like that type of game. So like it's a it's a builder game. You're building up things, you're collecting resources, you're rebuilding areas, you're rebuilding cities, you're finding stuff, exploring, but it at its core, it is a builder.
SPEAKER_01It takes what I love about Minecraft and what because I love animal craft. I'm an Animal Crossing girl, but it takes like the aspects I wish Animal Crossing had, which is just like some aspects from Minecraft. Because I don't love Minecraft. Minecraft kind of makes me a little nauseous to play now. Don't know what's going on with that. But it takes the things that I love from Minecraft and that I wish Animal Crossing had, has all the things and it's Pokemon.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Are you kidding?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And it's Pokemon.
SPEAKER_00So you have like the Minecraft aspect where you're you're building, right? You have the square blocks and you can build those square blocks. And the world is your oyster. You can do whatever you want with those blocks.
SPEAKER_01Whatever you want.
SPEAKER_00Then you have the Animal Crossing aspect where like you're finding these Pokemon, you're getting them homes. They all have their own individual personalities. They run up to you, they say hi, they bring you gifts.
SPEAKER_01Um I will say the only thing I I I wish is that like maybe if my gift was like some armor or like a cool chair. I'm tired of getting beans.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. The gifts kind of suck. Gifts kind of suck. You build like your house, right? You have like your house, you decorate your house, you put your furnace.
SPEAKER_01Decorate your little house, yes.
SPEAKER_00You have the crafting part of it, right? So you're you're gathering materials so that you can craft items to build your world and decorate your world. Um, all of these are very Minecraft Animal Crossing. But then there's the story. The story, dude.
SPEAKER_01The story makes me anxious.
SPEAKER_00It's it's incredible, it's a beautifully written story, and it has depth, it has character, it it makes you care about the Pokemon that like you normally wouldn't, you know.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I find myself like specifically with the story-based Pokemon, so you have your story-based ones that help drive the story, and then you have all the random ones that you just find. But the story-based ones all have their own individual, like what happened to them and and how they're alone, and what happened to their trainers and everything. So, like, you get invested in these characters, like super invested. Um, yeah, but then because it's Pokemon, they take it a step further and they give you the collecticon part of it here are three hundred plus Pokemon for you to find.
SPEAKER_02Finally.
SPEAKER_00In Animal Crossing, you get eight characters to play with. In Minecraft, it's just you, yeah, unless you're like playing with a couple of friends. But in this 300 unique individual Pokemon that you know and love to go and find in this world. Yeah, it's actually more than 300, but like that's like the base rate that we go with. Um, so it's more than 300, but like you go and find them, and they all have their own unique identities.
SPEAKER_01Unique identities, unique homes.
SPEAKER_00Like it's such a good yeah, you unique homes, unique things that they specifically want to make them more comfortable. Um, so you have that part of it, but then you have the habitats that you also can collect and find and complete. Oh, it's it's such a Pokedex, you have a habitat decks, you have um a cooking dex where you can cook different meals, and there's like a list of meals that you can unlock. So it's the completionist part of it, it's the the building part of it, it's everything, it's everything that I wanted in a Pokemon game, aside from battling, dude. If if they threw in a battling gimmick in there, I I don't think I would ever play another game.
SPEAKER_01It's perfect, it is perfect, it's perfect, and it's so like Pokemon always has done so well with their stories, like even in the show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know what I mean. Like so gamers across the world would argue that that's not true, but I enjoy their stories.
SPEAKER_05I enjoy their stories, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But this took it to a whole new level, and it's just it's so fun. I think I have like 95 hours in it now. Which is which is cra it's crazy to think of.
SPEAKER_01Like because it like just came out a few weeks ago.
SPEAKER_00It just came out, and like in Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet, I think I got like 250 or so or three something, and I'm already and those were out for like four or five years, and I'm already at a hundred in this game, and it's been out like two weeks.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy.
SPEAKER_00I I genuinely see myself playing this game for a very long time. Oh, and then to top it all off, so you have your your story-driven areas that you've got to unlock and find and rebuild, and that drives the story, but then you have the ability to make a cloud island where me and Taylor get to hang out and just do our own thing.
SPEAKER_01I'm going to be 100% honest with you. I haven't touched that island since we got off of it.
SPEAKER_00I I've been so high vision focused on my island that like, but you so you have that you have that part, the cloud island, and like Taylor could make her own cloud island, and I have my cloud island, but then I can visit hers, she can come to mine, we can do stuff in each other's islands, like whatever we want to do, um, which is something that you couldn't do in uh uh Animal Crossing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_00Then to top all of that off, you have your own individual space in the main story called Palet Town that you can go and create stuff on that's just like a blank canvas for you to work with, and you can bring your friends there too. But in that one, it it doesn't um they can't go in and like edit and do stuff without you. Like they can they can go if you're on the game, they can go there on the cloud islands. Taylor doesn't need me. If we were working on something, she's like, you know what, I got a little bit of time. I want to go work on this building that we were working on. She can just go do that. Uh it's crazy, it's crazy the amount of content. Like it's overwhelming. It's overwhelming.
SPEAKER_01It is overwhelming, it's overwhelming, but it's so much fun.
SPEAKER_00It is, and I love that. The music, speaking of us being a music show, the music in this game is top tier, top tier. Yes, Taylor.
SPEAKER_01We all have to riot and fight my boyfriend.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Because tell me why I was playing it on the TV the other day.
SPEAKER_00Tell Dylan I'll fuck his I'll fuck his shit up. I'll break him in half.
SPEAKER_01It literally is Animal Crossing, it even has the same music. That's what this man told me.
SPEAKER_00Different music comes.
SPEAKER_01I I said surely you didn't just say that. It literally has this same music. No, turn it up, full blown. And all he hears do do do do do do do like the Pokemon music. And I'm like, that's crazy because that's literally Pokemon music. No, it's not.
SPEAKER_00Wait, wait, wait. Where were you that you heard that?
SPEAKER_01Um, it's whenever Kyogre came. Oh, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. When the legendaries come in the game, they always give you the legendary battle music that's associated with them. It's awesome.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, this this nut this nut Pokemon. This not Pokemon music. I feel fry good.
SPEAKER_00A little bit of a spoiler. I know you haven't gotten there, Taylor, but because we're a music show, I would do want to talk about this. So you find a version of Rotom in the game that is called DJ Rotom.
SPEAKER_05That's it.
SPEAKER_00And he's and he's a boom box. And all of those little, I'm sure you found some by now, those little CDs.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
DJ Rotom And Pokémon Soundtracks
SPEAKER_00You give those to DJ Rotom, and it plays the songs from all of the games, and you can have DJ Rotom follow you. So like I I had him, I put all of the old red and blue uh soundtrack on him, and so I'm walking, and he's playing like and then like uh the the do do do do do do do do um or Grout 66. Or um there was like the Bills theme, there's uh the SSN, the vi uh Vermilion City theme. Like there's uh all of these great songs from all the old games, and he just follows you around and and plays all of them, but it also goes through all of the games. I found Scarlet and Violet music in there. So I was playing Area Zero music while I was running around building stuff. Yeah, it was fun, it was cool. I love this game, it's perfect, it's great, it's great, it's perfect. But I I just wanted to apologize for my for my last rant because I just didn't know that's what we were getting, and I feel bad that I was so harsh because, like, honestly, they made the right move because if they had released Gen 10 this year, I don't know if Pocopio would have gotten what it deserves because I would have been like, Well, I want to play Gen 10, so I'm gonna I'm gonna play that and set this down. But as of right now, I don't see myself setting this down. Like it's it is consumed my thoughts. It's I'm watching videos of people playing it when I'm not playing it.
SPEAKER_01Like it's so good.
SPEAKER_00Um, anywho, we are gonna do a fun little thing, Taylor and I. We're gonna talk about just the two of us. Just the two of us.
SPEAKER_05We can make it if we try to draw on just the two of them.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna talk about what we've been listening to recently as far as our music catalogs.
SPEAKER_01Um, um, do you want to hear? So a lot of what I've been listening. Sorry, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00No, that's it. I was just saying, we're gonna we're gonna talk about it.
SPEAKER_01I so at my job, we always have music on, and it's always like some sort of like 90s, early 2000s, like RB hip hop situation, like we're pumping and bumping all day long. It's always Can you give me an example of some songs?
SPEAKER_00Okay, T Pain, TLC, T Pain, Scrub is a guy that thinks he's fine.
What We’ve Been Listening To
SPEAKER_01Honestly, not a lot of TLC. It's not like too much of that, it's a lot of like T Pain feel the rain on your head. Oh no, oh um like real hip-hop music, like real hip-hop, yeah, like hip-hop.
SPEAKER_00We're like A Bay Bay, A Bay Bay, A Bay Bay.
SPEAKER_01It's it's a good time.
SPEAKER_00White folks think is in the club, a baby.
SPEAKER_01There's some Drake in there, there's um a lot. There's there's a lot happening. It's always yeah, Usher is a great town. So on Fridays, this is on like half of the room. So, like the half where the boys are, they're always hip-hop, bumping. It's always loud enough to like fill up the room. Always gonna be my baby. We have another PT in there. So she plays her own music on the other side of the room where my PT and I are. So today we had like the collision of the two. It was like music madness. Like one PT would turn up his hip-hop, she's turning up her, and she has like hers is a Pandora mix, so it's like country, some early 2000s, some some sort of like worship music. It's a straight party. We are partying up in here. Shots, shot, shot, shot, shot, shot, everybody, and it's and like he tries to keep it like for the most part clean, right? Like, there's not any crazy square.
SPEAKER_00Maybe like the norinder the last down.
SPEAKER_01Literally, and I was working with somebody, and she goes, What is happening? She's laying on the bed because I I call it the area where the land meets the sea. There is a specific area where you just hear it all at once. Out in the country past the same. She literally, she was like, I need to bring headphones the next time I'm here. She said, Why are they not playing the same thing? I said, Why would they? You have to just tune it out. It's a great time, though. So that definitely has been influencing what I've been listening to because now I'm just like hip hop.
SPEAKER_00Y'all forgot about Dre.
SPEAKER_01It's I'm trying to think of like other things that we've we listened to. A lot of like older.
SPEAKER_00I'm just picturing, I'm picturing like like you go to one side and you hear like, you raise me up so I can do the doo doo. And then you go to the other side and it's just like uh gotta get that booty word, booty word, literally. Booty booty, booty work.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy. Crazy. What a mixture of emotions. It's insane. It's so we we had this woman and she was doing like squats, and some sort of something came on, and instead of doing squats, she dropped the thing and started dropping it low.
SPEAKER_00And I just only in Florida, only in Florida.
SPEAKER_01She goes, I'd take my top off if I was allowed. She said, What is this music? And I said, We gotta change. Yo, what we gotta and she was like, But you guys still charge her? She's a Medicare patient.
SPEAKER_00No, of course she is in public offering to take her top off dropping it low or shaking her booty, shaking her booty, anyways.
SPEAKER_01So let me get back to the table and she goes, Man, my knees really hurt. And the PT goes, you think.
SPEAKER_00Did did your one guy start cutting off 50s? Be like, all right, here you go.
SPEAKER_01It was wild, it was so funny. She was like, What is this music? And it's always at 7 a.m. Like I walk in there and it's at 7 a.m. Yeah, that's our 7 a.m.
SPEAKER_00Dude, that's too early for Usher. That's way too early for Usher.
SPEAKER_01That's a great way to start our day, actually. I'm happy. Yeah, that's that's on there. We got some Justin Bieber work, work, work, work, work.
SPEAKER_00Rihanna's always on there.
SPEAKER_01Our girl Riri.
SPEAKER_00Well, you can't do that.
SPEAKER_01Can't say that here. Um, how about you? What have you been listening to?
SPEAKER_00Um, so much. Um, because of uh the nature of what we do here, I tend to ingest a lot of uh new artists, new music. Um actually, there's this band that we're gonna be interviewing tonight called the July Crowd, uh fantastic like pop punk emo band. Uh, really enjoy their sound. Um obviously, X Bird X recently came into the to the world of mine. Um trying to think of what I've been listening to that's like mainstream. I at work, if I turn on music, I always turn on either pop rocks from Sirius XM or Pop 2K. Um typically pop rocks is what I go with because it's a little less of that like pop more heavy on the rock. Uh occasionally you still get like your your Kelly Clarksons or your Liz Fair or um trying to think of like a like a Dotchery, you know, those like softer things. But they'll also play like Sublime and uh Simple Plan and uh Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance. Yeah, um they'll play like uh uh oh you know that you know a band that I've really been into Fastball. You ever heard of Fastball?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00So I know that we will get in trouble for doing it. Um but you know what? I don't really care. Because I want to show you this song.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, I was looking at other things. We listened to a lot of fitty cent.
SPEAKER_00A lot of fitty centon in the club, outcast, outcast is a good one. It's your birthday. All right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right. Now hey ladies.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What's cooler than being cold? I said ice cold. Um, so let me show you this uh this song real quick.
SPEAKER_01Oh Nelly.
SPEAKER_00Nelly?
SPEAKER_01Nelly.
SPEAKER_00Um um trying to think of a uh Nelly song. Uh shoot, why I can hear it in my head, but I can't think of the words. I just wanna take my clothes off. What's that song? It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes.
SPEAKER_03I am getting too clothes off.
SPEAKER_05That was that lady, dude.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Sierra, Missy Elliott. Missy Elliott's always playing.
SPEAKER_00Missy Elliott, there's only one good Missy Elliott song. You all know what it is. You all know what it is. I can't play that song. I want to see it.
SPEAKER_03Can't play that song.
SPEAKER_00All right, so this is the song called The Way by Fastball. Um, and I'm gonna talk through it just so that we don't get super copyrighted, but like I really love this song. Maybe. There's no one this song dominated the 90s.
SPEAKER_01And they started. Oh I definitely know this song.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, he's a very strange-looking man. Does he have black eyes?
SPEAKER_01He kind of looks like you know the guy who plays the rat in Harry Potter. That's kind of what he looks like. You know what I'm saying? Are you picking up on laying down?
SPEAKER_00And this I'm attacking. Um, yeah, dude, this song's awesome. But, anyways, I I've been really into fastball recently. Um also with uh with doing the show with Danny, we tend to find a lot more unique music um from doing like the murder mystery show. Yeah, so like uh The Manic Street Preachers is a band that I didn't really know much about that I've gotten into a little bit. Um uh Millie Millie Vanilli, surprisingly. Uh yeah, I didn't really know them. And since doing that case, I got into them a little bit. Um and then uh we are going to be covering the Robert Johnson case here soon. So I got back into Robert Johnson because I was into Robert Johnson there for a bit, but I'm getting back into Robert Johnson.
SPEAKER_01So speaking of a Millie, you know what else who you know who else is.
SPEAKER_00Dude, I love Lil Wayne. I love Lil Millie.
Closing Thanks And How To Support
SPEAKER_01I I was telling Dylan the other day. Well, this actually was like a month ago, that's like not the other day. Um, we're in the car, and for some reason it got on our topic. And I was like, Do you know that one of Lindsay's favorite artists is Lil Wayne?
SPEAKER_00Dude, Lindsay loves like 2000s rap.
SPEAKER_01Loves, and he goes, you know, he said, I respect it, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00He was like, Oh, dude, she's that's kind of like her like that's her genre, dude.
SPEAKER_01That's her genre, and I get it. I too love an early, like, especially with being in the car with her. I'm like, Yeah, we're we're popping, we're bumping. I love it. Um, but we were starting talking about it, and I'm like, Yeah, you know the wee woo wee-woo song. And he said, What? I said, you know, the wee woo wee-woo song. Wee woo wee-woo. Anyways, then I found it. And I started going, wee oh wee, oh, we lady cop.
SPEAKER_00Um Lady Cop. No, it's literally like she like listens to 2000s rap, RB. Yeah. Um I'll say rap, RB, and pop as all one thing, or straight up hard rock slash emo music from the same same era. Like those are her two. Like, she's either like my chemical romance or lmfao.
SPEAKER_01Like those are yeah. I love an RB or like a hip hop. Like that is RB's my thing. I love RB. They should bring him in home. I love Caleb, he's my fave.
SPEAKER_00I would love to continue having this conversation.
SPEAKER_01I know, I just saw the time, guys.
SPEAKER_00I know just next week. Um, unfortunately, we do have another show directly. Directly after this. So we do have to cut things a little shorter today, uh, just to allow time for us to prepare for the next show. Um, so Taylor, please do your thing.

So, like I know you're in your head, you're listening right now, and you're like, no, I don't want to do that. Or you're like, I don't have an Instagram, or you know, whatever the excuse is. Whatever the excuse is 2026. I just want you to know that that's fine, it's totally fine. But if you could, it really does help. Um, or subscribe to the YouTube page.
