In this episode I have the pleasure of hosting Lorna Taylor, the Instagram marketing expert from Lorna & The Gram. If you're looking to enhance your Instagram presence, this episode is a goldmine of insights. Lorna specialises in helping female entrepreneurs create authentic content and establish a strong online presence. She shares her journey from being a primary school teacher to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
During our conversation, Lorna delves into the common challenges people face on Instagram and social media. She addresses two key areas: individuals who recognise the importance of using social media but struggle to enjoy it, and those who have valuable content to share but fear putting themselves out there. Lorna offers practical tips to overcome these obstacles, including effective planning, and workflow management.
When it comes to content frequency, Lorna advises that there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. The ideal number of posts, reels, and stories varies for each person.
Lorna generously shares her top three tips for Instagram success. First, she encourages busy entrepreneurs to schedule dedicated time each week for engaging with their audience. This intentional interaction can make a significant impact on building relationships and generating sales.
Second, Lorna advocates for actively participating on Instagram rather than passively scrolling. Taking the initiative to comment, reply, and initiate conversations can lead to more meaningful connections.
Lastly, she reminds us not to let the engagement on a single post define our self-worth or the success of our business. Lorna emphasises that follower count and likes do not directly determine income or overall achievement.

In this episode I'm unleashing my top three bold goals for 2023. Although it's a daunting task to share in public - here we go! It takes courage but success comes from taking risks. I hope to encourage others to also take that courageous step of writing down their dreams – with no fear!
Believing in the power of goal setting has enabled me to create a life beyond what I ever thought possible. For 10 years, I've committed myself to visualising my dreams and have achieved many successes along this journey—but one significant moment stands out for me personally: at 30, single with no children on the horizon, something miraculous happened after creating a vision board. I was able to manifest my ideal man and we have a beautiful daughter together.
Achieving success relies on setting meaningful goals and having a plan to achieve them. If you're not sure where to start, I'm more than happy to guide the way! Take some time for yourself; think about what's important in your life and business at this moment - if you could fast forward six months from now, what would be three accomplishments that mattered most? Get specific with why these successes are so vital: when we get clear on our motivations behind those ambitions it will all come into focus.

I am doing a really special episode for you today. It is my reflection on 2022 in my business and personal life, I'm going to be sharing, I'm going to be oversharing, I'm going to be sharing stuff with you, that probably is going to come up as I talk, stuff that I haven't planned to necessarily share. So it's going to be interesting, this is going to be a roller coaster.
I haven't really got a massive structure for you today. I know I often give you my five top tips, practical advice, but this is going to be more of an episode where I share things with you, I offload and you just get to know me a little bit better.
I will be talking about my highs, I will be talking about my lows, and I'll be just thinking back on 2022 itself.
I would really recommend that you do this yourself. I have another episode, which is about getting you ready for 2023 in your business. In that episode I give you practical advice to get ready yourself and plan for your next year. But in this episode it is all about my reflection.
There's been some massive highs, but also some lows that have been really challenging. So I would love, love, love to hear from you. And here's my question of the podcast what has been your biggest moment of the year? It could be a great moment. It could be a tough moment. It could be anything, just what's been your biggest moment of the year.

My latest interview is with Cassie Watts, Cassie is someone that helps entrepreneurs in business thrive in the comfort of living their wild and mindful self.
She's also a speaker, a coach, and she really focuses on that mindful living way of life. Cassie is trained in something called rapid transformational therapy.
Cassie grew up only really hearing very negative conversations between her parents about money and therefore had a perception that money was stressful, and in her early adult life ended up in significant debt largely because of her negative feelings around money.
She reveals her journey to becoming debt free and how changing her money mindset has changed her life.
How having a positive money mindset is beneficial when running your own business, and why it is common for women especially to have a negative money mindset.
Cassie explains her 3 top tips to improve your money mindset, and make sure your children grow up with a positive money mindset.
If you want to follow Cassie on social media she is @iamcassiewatts on Instagram, and Facebook.
Cassie's website is cassiewatts.co.uk. You can book a free call for half an hour to have a chat. Or you can book a rapid transformational therapy and coaching session, to get to the root cause of whatever is holding you back. Cassie can help with self sabotage, imposter syndrome, procrastination, and get to the root cause of why you're in this cycle and then reframe it to help you have thoughts and create habits that help you build that wealth and success that you want to feel in every day.

Today I'm going to be helping you get your business ready for 2023. As you know by now, I'm a big fan of planning. And I'm going to be sharing with you my top tips for how to get ready for 2023 in your business.
Why is it important to get ready for your business in 2023? Before 2023 starts? Well, in my opinion, having a plan before you get to the moment that you've got to execute the plan is quite a logical and savvy thing to do if you want to be one step ahead of your competitors.
I have four tips for you
1. Reflection. The first thing you need to do is take time out of your business to reflect. Think about your proudest achievements. Think about your highs, think about your lows.
2. Focus on your word for 2023. Every year I come up with a word that I want my year to represent. I want you to think about 2023 for you and your business and what word you could use to absolutely encompass what you want that year to be.
3. Have an overall plan. You might be bored of me talking about this by now, but I love planning, I love strategy in business. As a small business, we don't always prioritise planning but if you do, you will be standing yourself ahead of your competition. Have a one or two page plan for your year 2023.
4. Take it one quarter at a time. I break my year up into four quarters, quarter one, January, February, March, quarter, two April, May, June, quarter, three July, August, September and called four October, November, December. Doing it like this just makes the year feel so much more manageable. And you can set yourself mini goals for each quarter.
The Question of The Podcast - 'What is your word for 2023 in your business?'
I really want to hear such a variety of words. And I really want to know what your headspace is like and where you're going in 2023. Please just share with me what word comes to you when I talked about that word for the year.
This will be going up on my Instagram and my LinkedIn @Jenlistercoaching as a question so please do comment, send me a DM reply to my stories with your answer.
Thank you so much for listening to The Jen Lister Podcast. I truly appreciate every single one of you. If you'd like to leave me a review on your podcast app, I would love that. And if you'd like to follow me on social media, it's @jenlistercoaching on Instagram and LinkedIn

2. Getting you out of day to day activities, and instead taking a step back to look at your business from a different perspective.
3. Time management and productivity.
4. Help you to value yourself truly,
5. Your business coach will be your biggest cheerleader.
6. Your business coach can help you recognise your weaknesses.
7. Help you to lean into your finances.

Hayley has identified through evidence based studies the 5 main psychological attributes it takes to be successful.
These are all things you can work on, the 5 attributes are:
1. Resilience is like a reservoir, sometimes it will be low and drought like, at other times it can be full to the brim. Hayely explains resilient people set challenging goals for themselves
2. Self belief, the belief that we have the skills, the knowledge, the the abilities, to successfully achieve, whatever it is, we've we've decided we're trying to do. From Hayeley's study she found women in business with high levels of self belief had role models, regularly listed their achievements, they also regularly visualised their desired outcome actually happening, for example when bidding for a piece of work they visualised winning it before it had happened.
3. Importance of relationships, building and nurturing relationships is something that consistently comes out across the research over the last 20 years, but also through my own studies that women who are successful in business do really well. It's one of our core strengths as business owners. Women are good at supporting each other in business and helping each other.
4. Business planning and organising, really taking the time to think carefully about what your business is about what success means to you. Who are the kind of clients you want to work with? What's your vision? What's your mission? And then on the back of that, what's your strategy to achieve that?
5. Commercial Awareness, one of Hayley's studies showed successful women benchmarked and payed attention to what was going on in the sectors that they specialised in. This helped them pivot accordingly. And they all had very clear pricing strategies.
Jen and Hayely dig deep into these 5 attributes and discuss what is important when you are starting your own business
Hayley's infamous 'Sketch Notes' which are a visual representation of psychology theories, books and research. How they help with cementing theories and breaking theories down. How the Sketch Notes can make complex theories accessible to everyone.
Hayley talks about her biggest challenges and how her resilience helped her continue to build a successful business.
