Man that is boatload of entertainment from some of the very best male actors in the history of Tinsel Town. Not to mention the incredible Karen Allen.
Commentary: As a result of my painstakingly detailed and 100% accurate exit poll of our customers on About My Father, 99 out of 100 patrons passed the concession stand on their exit from the auditorium… wearing a smile. Or still laughing, or chuckling, or in one case an articulation of a shrill ‘Ha-ha-ha, too funny”. So there you have it, You can toss your rotten tomatoes in the compost bin. The technology used in the final installment of the Indiana Jones saga to remove twenty or thirty or forty years of wrinkles, wear, tear and a few scars from the famous mug of Harrison Ford is a post-production tool better than botox. Same technique was used with, again, Mr De Niro in The Irishman, and Sigourney Weaver in Avatar. Absolutely amazing. The age juxtaposition from them to us, makes our Senior Tuesday promotion, where the only qualification is to be over 60, indicative of how far we are willing to go to please our core demographic. ‘Cause it ain’t kids - unless it is part of our 87th Anniversary Celebration on June 21, because then it is, for a few hours anyway, because….
On June 21 we will offer a little bit of something for everyone, young, old, male and female. Posters calling attention to the movies and the music and the food and the fun are (almost) everywhere. Haven’t seen one yet? Go here: https://www.farawayentertainment.com/historic-lynwood/
Lastly today, I would again like to steer your attention to the outstanding roster of talented local musicians we have assembled for your enjoyment on June 21: Ranger and the Re-Arrangers, Ben Watson, Peter Spenser and Jonathan Green, Civil Rebellion and Eugenie Jones. Wowza! And that is just the music. Free movies, starting at 9am with kids features, the screening of award winning five-minute films, a collection of local filmmakers' recent short releases, celebrity speakers, an auction, raffles, food from the local bakery, cantina and marketplace as well as beer & wine tastings and the most recent addition to the event, the introduction of a special award for meritorious community service to the arts. I cannot at this time announce the inaugural recipients (although they have been selected) until we confirm their availability to attend. THAT announcement next week.
Tickets, both full-day and half-day, are now available at farawayentertainment.com. Scroll down to the Lynwood Theatre, select June 21 and BINGO, you out of towers can support your favorite local one-screen with the single push of a button. Both options also guarantee seating for this years headliner, Eugenie Jones.
Come on out and see the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of Hollywood, Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford, prove that it ain’t the age...its's the mileage.
