Have I told you how much I respect the creators of Asteroid City? Note (and appreciate) Wes Anderson’s use of camera movement. His, along with collaborator Roman Coppola's (son of FF), clever and concise dialogue, the obligatory WA wedding cake pastels contrasted by the B&W (using the pushing pulling of camera to invite engagement) and his usual tropes of the human condition, grief and loss being the most prevalent. This is a movie perfectly suited for the big screen. OUR big screen. Come see for yourselves. And speaking of movies perfectly suited for the HLT, here is the latest dope, with some attitude, on our coming attractions:

I have been asked many times if I am the person responsible for the selection of films we screen. When asked, I tell the facts with as little subjectivity as I am capable of. No, we hire a booking agent for that important chore. Do I have a say in that process? About the same amount that you have when voting for the POTUS, not discounting the importance of that civil duty, I, we, are nothing without numbers. Us. Lots of us joined in a common cause can move mountains. Here is the plan:

As a result of the aforementioned film broker’s (ridiculous) decision to open Oppenheimer at the Bainbridge Cinemas, because they have 30 more seats in their largest auditorium than us, I have started a campaign to put me in charge of that important task. And you know why. Therefore, it is my extreme pleasure to announce to you today, on the official 87th anniversary of the HLT, my latest crusade to better the world! LKD.

Let Kevin Decide. I don’t want pick them all, just the important ones that have our name and demographic coded into their cinematic DNA. Like Oppenheimer. So please join me as I volunteer to take on the Powers-that-Be with the goal of bringing the best of the best to you.
