Kevin Lynch Season 2

As mentioned in the opening lede, welcome to beat week all you island cinephiles!

JULES is cools. Story line of an aging and lonely father struggling with relevance in both his personal and social existence in a small and quiet Pennsylvania town when a UFO crash lands in his back yard, crushing his azaleas and destroying his bird feeder. Naturally, Miton Robinson (played magnificently by Oscar winner Ben Kingsley) befriends the ET, bestowing the moniker Jules to him (her?) along the way, and soon ends up at odds with his family, community and the CIA. It is heart-warming, clever, endearing and full of the existential challenges that we will all eventually face, minus the miracle of the close encounter, itself a metaphor of universal meaning. Come and see for yourself. Only 6 screenings left.

Bainbridge Island Film Festival (BIFF). Here are the 13 films  scheduled for screening at the HLT:

Thursday, This is Not Financial Advice @ 7. Q&A to follow with local filmmaker Zach Ingrasci.

Friday, The Politics of Beauty @ 5, Kitsap Shorts @ 7 & Hundreds of Beavers @ 9:30

Saturday, Chronicles of a Wandering Saint @ 11:30, Dadiwonisi @ 1:30, Odd Hours, No Pay, Cool Hat @ 4. Ingress @ 6:30 & Late Night Shorts @ 9:30

Sunday, Fremont @ Noon, Dogleg@ 2, Fanny @ 4:15 & Fancy Dance @ 7.

The BOLD titles feature local connections and the italicized films will have a Q&A following the screening.

Special meritorious shout-out to BIFF Show-runner Charles Peekel who has orchestrated and magnificent production with the First Annual Bainbridge Island Film Festival. We hope to co-carry the torch well into the future.

We also have complete printed brochures available in our lobby of the entire Island-wide schedule, including films playing at the Bainbridge Cinemas, BIMA and Island Center Community Hall. You can also find detailed film descriptions at BIfilmfest.org. Lastly today (the denouncement) should you be of the volunteering type and desire a free event T and free admission, contact me at once to enlist at 206.451.4336. Ai Operators are standing by.

And don't forget to circle Oct 7 on your calendar of events when TRUE LOVES takes the stage for some funky brass grooves (I have seem human Blood. Sweat and Tears tunes all day). Our site at Farawayentertainment.com will direct you to tickets.  As they say, get 'em while they're hot!

All for today folks. Hope to see you at the HLT this big film week.
