COMING ATTRACTIONS, DEC 16 - We’ve got Specials!

Some good and some not-so-good news today. We are the good guys with a simple mission statement designed to bring joy to the world, or at least Bainbridge Island. The challenge is, of course, to accomplish the mission within budget and on-time. No simple chore.

We have had to cancel two shows for a number of reasons, chief among them sluggish ticket sales. I sincerely apologize for this reality and trust you understand. CARRIE CLARK & THE LONESOME LOVERS, an act that drew a full house last year, and THE TOTAL EXPERIENCE GOSPEL CHOIR, the same group that has sold out several shows literally across the street, have been scrubbed. Believe me, this hurts me too. But life, as the show, must go on.  We do have several specials upcoming that todays ‘cast will feature. Furthermore as I have not received confirmation on Friday’s premiere, we have a short week of scheduled films while waiting for the aforementioned confirmations. Onward and Upward then.

TUE DEC 31 - NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATION - 4 - MIDNIGHT
WED JAN 1 - HELLO 2025.

The Commentary.

BOTH of the films vying for the coveted Friday premiere spot, BABY GIRL with Nicole Kidman and COMPLETE UNKNOWN with Timothee Chalamet (As BOB), have been nominated, meaning that either way, you will have another superb film making a debut Friday afternoon around 4:30 or so. We have been running the trailer for COMPLETE UNKNOWN, and due to the leak that young Mr Chalamet did all the singing, guitar and harmonica playing, this biopic suddenly surged into the ‘Can’t Miss’ category of The Commentary ratings. THE RETURN is a hit with scholars and historians, offering a smoldering portrayal of Odesysus, coming home with a nasty case of PTSD. Ralph Finnes and Julia Binoche team for the third time as leads never letting quality suffer from quantity.

ANORA is an emotional and sometimes brutal dramadey of a young sex worker, Golden Globe nominated Mickey Madison who falls for the son of a Russian Oligarch. Mob mayhem and a crisp character portrayal of courage under fire, with more than a few comical moments ensue.

DIE HARD FREE SCREENING. FRI DEC 20 @ 9PM. Bruce Willis as John McLane heads to LA for his Ex’s Christmas Party only to meet Alan Rickman’s Hans Gruber in a knock-down-drag-out set in a LA high-rise. Changed the approach for action films forever. Sponsored by Port Gambles’s PRETY STICK. Get here early.

SKI FOR THE LOVE, SEASON 3: MAD LOVE. SUN DEC 22 @ NOON. Former Islander JOSH ANDERSON is a multi-talented master of radical down-hill skiing as well as the art of filming said activities. No easy shalom from the bunny rope. Season Three: Mad Love is the the group’s best yet, demonstrating not only awesome ski prowess, but the talent to capture it on videotape. A thrilling mash-up of extreme ski tricks atop several of the West’s most prominent peaks. Your entry ticket is entry to win a pair of Praxis skis. Cool.
