The Commentary.

BIRD. “It’s kitchen-sink terrain, but director Andrea Arnold has always infused her films with vitality and hope; she understands that living on the edge can be as exhilarating as it is terrifying, and there is love and a little bit of magic here too." Emma Simonds, The List. Barry Keogan (Banshees, Saltburn) is perfect for that part of Bird.

COMPLETE UNKNOWN. Simply the fact that Timothee Chalamet crammed guitar, harmonica and vocal lessons into his study for playing the part of Bob Dylan should be enough. However, in our consumed by cancellation culture, one wrong phrase, or turn of verse, might spell disaster, especially considering Director James Mangold, along with TC and a superb Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, are asking Baby Boomers to reinvent their fondest memories of youth and Taylor Swift fans to learn something from the very roots of rock ’n roll. Honestly, I can’t wait for Christmas Eve, at 6:45!

NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION. Several of the critics used the cliche “Kitchen sink” when assessing  BIRD and Andrea Arnold’s approach to crafting a film. Interestingly, we have taken a similar approach to assembling the cast for our 12.31.24 gala. Submitted for your consideration: Perhaps the most ironic cultural phenomenon hitting the Pacific Northwest since Bigfoot, the Rainier beer commercials stood taller than the Space Needle. Director Isaac Olson and Producers Justin and Robbie Peterson have mashed up the legendary ad campaign into a feature length documentary that we will premiere at 5:30 on the aforementioned last BIG day of the year. THAT is for starters. Once a Q&A has answered every query imaginable, we’ll roll out our barrel of musical fun, starting with locals HONEY MOON and ending at the stroke of midnight with the sounds of Santana as superbly done by BATUKA. Almost seven hours of celebrating where we were and where we're heading. Get your tickets now for this once in a lifetime arts and humanities tribute to here. And where, exactly is that? Well, in descending order, THE UNIVERSE>PLANET ERTH>THE AMERICA’S>UNITED STATES>WASHINGTON>SEATTLE>KITSAP COUNTY>BAINBRIDGE ISLAND> LYNWOOD CENTER>THE HISTORICAL LYNWOOD THEATRE>YOUR SEAT. That's where! Tickets right here

Please consider adding a bit of exercise to your daily routine come next week and its annual resolution. Walk, trot, jog, spin, cycle or swim. Pick one and add a swoosh, e.g. just do it.  Then come see a movie, certainly there is space in every 24 for something as healthy as those two.

Sound fun? Trust me, your heart will thank you.

See you here.
