SPECIAL EVENTS

SATURDAY, FEB 1, 4-6PM - PARTNERS IN HEALTH BAINBRIDGE YOUTH PRESENTS - BENDING THE ARC

Decades before they launched the first statewide contact tracing program to fight COVID-19 in the United States, and long before they helped battle Ebola in West Africa, three young people barely out of their teens began a movement that would change global health forever. BENDING THE ARC TELLS THEIR STORY. This is the second year we have partnered with the talented and energetic gals from the BI branch of Partners in Health to stage a fund raising event. This year all proceeds go to ending preventable deaths from tuberculosis. Get your tickets here.

VALENTINE’S DAY. FRIDAY, FEB 14 @ 6:45 - DO NOT MISS. WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. At the apex of every rom-com poll solidly rests this classic gem from Rob Reiner, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. The HLT in conjunction with co-sponsors PANE D’AMORE & ROLLING BAY WINERY (OMG Chocolate and wine) present a night to remember at a price that won’t upset her. (Try singing it) to the tune of $9 PER COUPLE. In the 88 year history of this grandiose community auditorium, never has there been an offer so staggeringly suited for the modern lover. Lover of film, lover of life and lover of love. Nine bucks! PLUS, we’ll have specials provided by both of our sponsors (did I mention wine and roses?) as well as awarding ONE YEAR OF MOVIES to the couple who most faithfully costumes themselves as the titular characters. BUY YOUR TICKETS RIGHT HERE, and right now for this sure to be intoxicating evening of romance, comedy, food and drink. Friday, Feb 14 @ 6:45. Where’s my sweater?

THE BRUTALIST. If “Sprawling” ever makes its way to becoming an official film genre, this epic will be its poster boy. Move over Cecil B. DeMille, step aside David Lean and mi scuzi Michelangelo Antonioni. Writer and Director Bradley Corbet will soon be a household name often used with the same platitudes as the three masters mentioned above as well as Kubrick, Wells and Herzog. That, dear friends, a literal who’s who of GOAT auteurs. He is that good, despite this being his breakout film. Adrian Brody is phenomenal as Lazlo Toth, the tormented and talented architect learning the hard way that art is secondary to money, power and greed in America, a reality we are all coping with, again, today. One would think that we would have learned our lesson on this subject back in 1936. But no. Gaslighting the ignorant with nefarious agendas based on the hatred of others will never end well, or as we see here, at all. Poor men want to be rich, and rich men want to be Kings. And Kings contract edifices erected in their name, image and likeness. Truly sick.

Peace & Love, out.
