THE BRUTALIST. Demands our full attention as a moviegoing experience, to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Corbet has been developing the film for years, but though it has been in the works since before the Covid pandemic, the actual shooting was done in early 2023, in Budapest, Carrara, Venice and Philadelphia. It is an amazing cinematic accomplishment the likes of which C. Nolan and M. Scorsese approve.

SING - SING.  RATED R, 1:47. Divine G (Colman Domingo), imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men, including wary newcomer (Clarence Maclin), in this stirring true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors.

2025 OSCAR SHORTS. Always a fan favorite, this years edition will entertain, inform and inspire. The three categories, Live Action, Animation and Documentary will screen in rotation (as we have done the last three years) for the week we have it. As of this writing I have not yet received the detailed breakdown of the films making it impossible to schedule. I should have that precious intel in my possession by tonight, Monday, so please stay tuned to this site for the days and showtimes.

Lastly today, a big HLT hurrah to the young ladies at B.I. Youth Partners in Health for all their hard work in presenting BENDING THE ARC on Saturday. Despite the weather, or perhaps due to it, we had a full house of Islanders all contributing to the success of the event. You may still donate to the worthy cause here.
