ARE WE GOOD? Expectedly hilarious yet intensely poignant, Marc Maron speaks to the undulating waves of his career, as well as his thoughts on aging, cats and relationships, with a sharp vulnerability cut against his signature biting paranoia. Striking a beautiful balance of humor and melancholy, Steven Feinartz’s film solidifies Maron as one of the most compellingly complicated voices in comedy whose reflections on loss ring painfully true.—Liza Domnitz at Tribeca. Lynn Shelton, Maron’s partner who passed in ’20 was a staple of Seattle Independent Film production in the early 2000’s.
ANEMONE. Daniel Day-Lewis’ return to the screen along with his son Ronan as Director in this beautiful brooding tale of brotherhood, despair, mystery and devotion. The score is favorably mentioned in almost every review. With Sean Bean (Boromir).
HALLOWEEN DOUBLE-DIP: Our annual tribute to local filmmakers continues with Dan Myrick and the wonderfully appropriate and thematic BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. To be followed by the magical and whimsical BEETLEJUICE. A pair of Halloween faves at one throwback price for both. As in buy one and get one for free.
6 GUN REBELS & WHYSKEY CREEK. Recorded music played back on LP (Long Playing for you youngsters) sounds better than a CD. The same way that live music feels better. My record collection in the 70’s had plenty of BAD COMPANY & LYNRD SKYNYRD. This ass-kickin’pair of Kitsap Bands team up on Saturday, Nov 1, to pay tribute to the good old days of Rock N Roll. Two bands, one show, no cover, no kidding. Tickets on sale here and now. Be there or be square.
UPDATES, RUMORS AND LEAKS. BAINBRIDGE ISLAND FILM FEST 2025 is Nov 6-9. Yes, we remain steadfast in our effort to upgrade and provide operating capitol via our SEAT SALE fundraiser. Should you be among the Islanders (or not) interested in keeping the good ship HLT afloat, a modest donation will get you yours. Those being new seats with your name (or logo) on the back. Interested philanthropists are encouraged to call me at 206.451.4336 to discuss. We have added two big new shows for Dec and Jan. A Marcus Kitley and Danny Figgins collaboration for a Christmas Gala on 12.12 and the HS JAZZ BAND will officially open for the LADY A spectacular on Jan 10. Oh, yeah, and on Friday, BAINBRIDGE BREWING dropped off a fresh keg of Battle Point Stout, the first batch of the season. We will tap that one the minute we drain its current replacement Helle’s Lager.
SHE IS BACK! Cheers!
Ciao,
Kevin
