THE COMMENTARY.
Sarah Blossom has my endorsement for City Council.

BLUE MOON: Asking Ethan Hawke to follow Daniel Day-Lewis as the central figure in a character driven epic set piece, is a tall order. Some would say crazy, but Mr Hawke is not only up to the task, but excels in the role of Lorenz ‘Larry’ Hart, the lyricist behind a dozen smash Broadway hits on the circuit of the 40’s in NYC. What the film lacks in action it more than compensates in poetics. And cigars.

BIFF. Showrunner Charlie Poekel’s third annual Bainbridge Island Film Festival takes over our humble little one-screener Thursday thru Sunday.go to the BIFF site for details, trailers and tickets.

OUTLANDER. Yes, Season One, Episode One. Sponsored by our wonderful neighbors, THE MARKETPLACE, it is part of their knitting series and you would be hard pressed to pick another show that better exemplifies the importance of wool in the wardrobe world.

MAN WHO SAVES THE WORLD. An eccentric American peace activist believes he's destined to unite South American tribes and save the Amazon, taking drastic steps to fulfill an ancient prophecy.

UNDER THE OPEN SKIES: Part Three of the EMERGENCE FILMS series, Ahmed's idyllic life as a nomadic camel-herder is turned upside down when grazing land is sold to private corporations, and he has to choose between keeping his traditional livelihood or modernising with the times. A 91% RT composite.

BUGONIA: Yargos Lanthramos, Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons and produced by Ari Aster! OMG.

MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON.  Chris Benchetler explores the unseen connections between sport, life, music, and the living earth—set to the timeless tunes of the Grateful Dead. Captured almost entirely at night using cutting-edge cinematography, lasers, animation, and projection mapping, the film leads viewers on a surreal journey through ocean, river, and mountain landscapes. Monday night’s encore screening will feature Island Producer Ali Meiners for intro and Q&A.

HOPE IS A SONG. Senior at BHS, Stella Selah has already published a book and made a film. The latter will screen as she examines the role of Iranian women in history.

COPA ’71. Fundraier for GOOD PLAY AMERICA a local NPO supporting Global Youth Sports. The film covers the 1971 Women’s Pro Soccer Championship.

YARDSALE. Josh Anderson's dynamite Ski-flick III will drop your jaw into an ice crevasse.

And I'm outta allotted characters, so I'll bid you goodnight. Love is Shakin' on Shakedown Street, ciao.
