A GREAT AWAKENING. Not wanting to bore you with the layers of bureaucracy that permeate the distribution channels of our industry, or the volumes of standard procedures that govern their revenue flows, let me simply say that here in this complex labyrinth, more times than not, you don’t get what you deserve - you get what you negotiate. Which is fine, and a general rule I appreciate and accept as something that comes with the territory, much like buying a used car on Craigs List. One must first determine exactly what one is buying, it is vintage, classic, in demand? Or just old, cheap, broken down and rusted out? Nobody wants to be stuck with a lemon, especially one needing a tow. With this allegorical situation in mind, allow me to jump from cars to films and point out the obvious connection between them by saying that I am currently in negotiation with the fair folks at Roadside Attractions, the distributors of A GREAT AWAKENING in order to try to swap this film with another one of theirs, H IS FOR HAWK. And that is why you see the * after the showtimes above on Fri APR 10. Because as I sit in my tiny office on Saturday, at 3pm, I am on the phone - and alone. Wishing our industry had a Lemon Law. 

* THE A.I. DOCUMENTARY. This looks a lot more ‘relevant’ than AGA (or HAWK) as those who have seen the trailer will surely attest. That being said, I challenge the producers, writers and directors to tell me in plain English exactly what, where, when and how this will work, and also why we are being scared to death by those two vowels.
